Chocolate Candy Bars. Except for maybe one at holloween I have to stay away from them. I make a chocolate cherry cake with lots of chocolate frosting now and then for special occasions and that seems to appease me. As for chips well as long as I have a single serving once in a while I am ok but, put a bag of greasy salty ruffles by me and I'm gone.

Chips have always been my downfall. I have tried putting them in single serving size packages but I am better off just not having them around very often.

French fries are just about as bad but I have found that I like Sweet Potato Fries better and those are baked and so much better for you.

I love ice cream. I really have to stop myself after just one cup or I will end up eating the whole pint or let's go for the gallon.

pizza---had it this week for the first time since I started. I made sure two pieces fit within my nutrition range, took two from the box and handed the rest to my son and walked off. I didn't stick around to see if any was left over and made sure I was physically removed from being tempted anymore.

I notice my trigger foods tend to lean towards but sweet and salty things. I'm still at home with My Mother helping out as well. But this is here house so I can't tell her what to buy and what not to buy. But I know anything I purchase for myself, CANNOT be Sweets anything in Chocolate(Devil's Food Cookie Cakes....I'm calling your out) I'll start to binge. Salty things like Potato Chips or Pretzels, I can't have in house. I've learned to Portion Control on Potato Chips. I like Sun Chips and Baked Lays sometimes Pringles. I portion control the chips in those snack size baggies.

To satisfy both my sweet and salty cravings, I keep those mini bags of popcorn around the house and a big bag of peppermints or those dum dum mini lolipops, and allow myself two a day.

Salt, fat and starch. As in chips and French Fries.

I'm a super sucker for cold, gooey dairy foods. Like 32 ounce yogurt (less is just a tease) or ice cream, frozen yogurt, or sherbet. I tend to consume those a half-gallon at a time.

I need to stay away from them. Nothing else works.

mine are cake and ice cream (not together though) If I have cake.. or ice cream.. then I'm lost. The cake brings on more cravings for sweet.. and ice cream, well, that just bothers me in the summer. I can control the ice cream cravings any other time of year.

Joyce

ShellieBellie2, I use Kernel Season's white cheddar popcorn seasoning. it's 2 cal a serving, and quite a bit of sodium but it satisfies my craving for smartfood white cheese popcorn without too much damage. A little goes a long way (until your four year old decides to shake it out onto the carpet like he saw mommy doing with Carpet Fresh).

Okay, my triggers: that Classic pasta salad from Suddenly Salad, especially if it's doctored up with tomatoes and olives. I'll eat the whole package worth, can't have one serving. Therefore it can't stay in my house. The other is delivery pizza. I pay so much for it, part of my brain yells at me if any goes to waste and binge ahoy! Funny enough is I prefer home made pasta salad and pizza, and do not over eat when I actually make them myself. The other bad binge culprit for me would be anything from Wingstreet, but especially their honey barbeque wings.

trigger foods UTZ chips are my fav well now we keep 100 calorie baked chips on hand so I switched to them. Also we switched from regular ice cream to frozen yogurt and wow its delish we also switch from reg milk to skim or almond milk. If I crave chocolate I keep those small ones on hand it works out good I still get that fix.

anything salty and crunchy I will binge on ALL day, so I eat a 100 calorie bag of popcorn and then I still feel like I can mindlessly eat without ingesting tons of calories.
Taco bell is a trigger for me, so I get a fresca taco instead of my 7 layer 550 calorie burrito.
Culvers fries are a trigger, and frankly nothing can replace those so I never go to culvers!

Please be mindful of the fact I have asperger's. I do NOT communicate the same as everyone else, if you have a question or a concern with how I worded something, please ask.

Well, at first thought when you ask my "trigger" I thought of pizza. But if I'm going to be totally honest, I have to admit that I can get into trouble with almost anything. Sad but true. So, what I do is limit my accessibility to them. At lunch I get my crunch from raw sugar snap peas. I love those things. I do miss chips and occasionally have them but I don't buy a big bag of chips, lets face it, I could sit there and mindlessly eat until...well you know. So for instance today I had chips with my lunch. I bought a single serving size bag of baked BBQ flavored Lays and they were wonderful! It felt like a splurge but I could control it because I only had bought one bag. Now I won't crave them for a while.

It's a great time of year to get fresh fruits and veggies. The fruit helps with the sweet tooth. I'm experimenting with plain or vanilla flavored greek yogurt and fresh fruit.

ok..so...what are some of your trigger foods and what do you use as a substitute?

for me its potato chips. i can say no to everything else. but a potato chip....then after ive had them my whole mind set changes,"well i might as well have.....?"
so instead i eat popcorn...never the smart choice kind...that stuff is as bad as chips.....
