Results are in, and although it wasn't the 20 pounds, I am happy with the 3 pound loss :) Thanks for all the tips. I think if it was the 20 pounds, I would have been dissappointed the following week.

Unfortunately its probably a mechanical issue with the scale - although I'll agree that water weight during TOM can be significant.

For me personally, I won't keep a scale at home because I distrust the accuracy of home scales for someone of my weight. I was frustrated by home scales for YEARS. I would weigh at home and go directly to a drs office and get a variation of 2-12 lbs - usually not in a favorable direction. I tried lots of different home scales - all were the same.

I now only weigh at a dr's office and only once a week. It keeps me sane - or as sane as I get! For me, watching those daily fluctuations sucked the motivation from my soul because I couldn't get beyond the numbers. That was one relationship I needed to BREAK! emoticon emoticon

What kind of scale to you have? Could you need new batteries?
I would love to see even a 5 lb. weight loss overnight, but I've never been that lucky. I'll pray it is a true weight loss for you.

I don't have this problem now but when I was at my heaviest it was nothing for me to have a 15 pound difference throughout the day. Weigh yourself only once a day at the same time and stick to that. Yes TOM will change things for the worse usually. Drink a lot of water. If you do it regularly your body will trust that you are going to keep it hydrated and won't retain so much. Don't get frustrated just keep working in the right direction!!

I just finished my TOM, so hopefully you're right! I would be so EXCITED to be down over 25lbs from my start! :) I will let you all know of my results tomorrow morning :) Thanks for the tips

I agree with Lilly. I can loose about 7 lbs of water right after TOM, also night time is really bad to weigh your self. your body is holding on to so many fludids
also I have learned that there are much better measuralbe things then the scale,
for example
if your tracking your food, and eating with in calorie range
getting at least 30 mins of cardio 4 to 5 times a week you will loose weight

if your clothes feel diffrent each time you put them on and you feel good then your loosing weight
that is only a number on the scale.
I say this for me because I need to always remind my self of that it took along time to drill it in my head

20 is a lot....my guess is water. did you get up a lot during the night?

I know if I drink a lot of water late at night, I have to keep getting up to go potty. I gallon of water weighs about 8 1/2 lbs?!?!

I can easily drop about 10 lbs after my period is over and my body lets go of the extra water.....not sure if it happens overnight though....

Hi all, I have a question for all of you. Can someone help me out -- or at least give me some ideas?

I weighed myself last night (bad to do at night, I know) and I was at 346.4 -- I always weigh myself 3 times to be sure (since it's digital) and that was the same all 3 times)-- last weigh in before was 348.4

This morning I decided to weigh in again to give more of an accurate reading... and the three readings were all 323.8 ?????? I haven't moved my scale at all, wasn't wearing anything both times... but more than a 20 pound difference seems highly unlikely.

Any advice of what is going on? I don't feel TWENTY pounds lighter from over night!
