Really great question.

Right now I am recycling the same few outfits that still fit and have been for about a year. I really cannot bear synthetic fibers and I have a clothing line that I love. I am 40 lbs away (approx) of fitting comfortably into their 26W size. I'm hoping to get there around Valentine's day.

Meanwhile, it's getting cooler in Phoenix and I want to walk, walk, walk and garden, garden, garden. I want to have stamina to do both - right now I don't. And I'm in pain too when I move. So baby steps.

Shopping in the "normal" part of the store and not having people on planes give me dirty looks when they sit next to me...that would be GREAT too.

great question! The lowest size I have ever gotten as an adult would be a size 18. I'm 21 yrs old and thats is a sad realization! My eventual "goal" size is a 10 in Forever 21(clothing store) sizing. I would literally jump for joy and scream while trying the clothes on in store! LOL If I ever got any lower than that it would be a miracle!

I was at my happiest when i was around 185, but I didn't really mind sitting around 210 either. I carried the 210 well. So anywhere in that range...but my Spark goal is 198 jusr so i can see a 1 instead of a 2 starting my weight :)

Realistically, its not numbers for me though. I have some travel desires that will require a BOATLOAD of walking, so i need to be in enough shape to be very very comfortable on the plane, cruise ship, and boats as well as being able to walk for miles and miles. (if you're curious, im a history nut, and would be going on a 3 week excursion to italy and greece to explore ancient rome and greece!)

I'm also 5'9. I used to be a size 10 shoe. As I gained weight my shoe size went up to an 11. I've lost about 70lbs so far and my shoe size is now a 10.5. It wasn't width, but there is less pressure on my feet. Weird I know.

My clothing size goal.. hummm. At my smallest size I can remember, I was in a size 17/18 when I was 13/14. That's kind of depressing thinking about that, but I would be happy being in an 18 than a 26/28! My final goal would be to get into a size 10 and a Med/Large top. That would be awesome. :)

I would love to be a size 13/14. Not a plus size store 14, but the.... "I can go into any store I want and pull a size 14 off the rack and fit it without squeezing" size 14. Not the I can wear a 14 if it's stretchy size 14. lol

This is my first day here, but as I have been dieting my whole life, I have always gone by the pounds rather than the size thing, of course, once I do get under the 200# mark, I just bet THAT will change my mind. Looking forward to it.

I have been a pounds person all along. My goal in the back of my mind is 150 pounds. But I want to be around a size 10/8 and fit. I want to be curvey, but sexy curvey and not too skinny. Does any of that make sence? LOL

Well I have not weighed under 200 pounds since I was in single digits (like 9... maybe even 10)... I would like to see 299, to be honest, I think I would cry... And I would love to wear a size 24, that would be my first goals, and if... no when I make it there I will re-evaluate my goals, or ideals.

I would like to end up at 125. I am only 5' tall so that is right for my height and bone structure. I have smaller goals that I reach for so the end doesn't seem so far away. As far as size I just dont know, I have been in sweat pants for a life time and big baggy shirts that it will be nice to shop normal for regular sizes for a change.

My current goal is to order 1 or 2 pieces of clothing 1 size smaller as a fun incentive for when I get there :)

Clothing isn't a big motivator for me, the size I wear or don't wear doesn't bother me much. The goal of my journey is to have a healthier body, mind and spirit. I can't be healthy at the size I am. I can't engage in life and experience things I've always dreamed of doing. As long as my sizes keep going down, I'm happy. emoticon

I don't have an exact number or size in mind at this point, but I will be so happy to get under 200. I weighed in the 180s when I was a junior in high school, and it's weird because back then I thought I was so huge, but when I look at pics of me I don't even think I look fat. I look a little pudgy, but not huge, and at that time I could run 2 miles, so I was fairly in shape. I wore a 16 then. I think ideally I'd be happy being a 10 or 12. I am not aiming to get super skinny, I just want to be healthy and be able to shop for clothes wherever I want.

Right now I am in a 26, but some of my 26 stuff is too big. My jeans were a 28 a few months ago, but they are way too big now and my 26 jeans are getting a little big.

I would personally *love* to be able to shop in the plus section again, so don't take it for granted. It's a lot easier than shopping only by catalog! When I was younger and in school, I desperately wanted to shop in normal stores with my friends. As an adult, I have a great girlfriend who would be a huge help to me and wouldn't mind shopping in plus size stores with me at all, but I'm too big for Avenue and Lane Bryant. It sucks! I just want to get down to my high school size (26/28) and then I'll worry about being smaller! But it's great to hear from all the success stories out there! Very inspiring. emoticon

My goal is to be in a size 16/18 or 200pds. again. I am 6 feet tall and big boned. Compared to now I would look awesome. My short term goal is to get down to 299. I'm so embarrassed about being over 300. I think getting below that would be a big boost of encouragement.
After that I will set small goals. 20 pds each. I don't want to look at the big picture because it is too overwhelming. So 20pd. goals it is for now. emoticon

When I first started losing weight I had no goal it was to daunting to think of all the weight I had to lose(200lbs). When the weight starting coming off it became a size thing and I got smaller and smaller to the point I was buying a little girls 16/18 pants(not jr little girls)I weighed around 120..found out not healthy my dr freaked because I had lost so much muscle mass and he said I needed to be closer to 135 or 140. I was terrified to start gaining even for my health I was afraid I couldn't stop. Now at 140 I wear a size 4 and my waist is about 26 inches but the biggest change is I don't go by size now I go by how fit my body is.I would rather look fit and healthy and wear a larger size. I love seeing my muscles and feeling strong I now know it's not your size or even the scale it's truely how strong and healthy you are.

At the first of the year I was thinking I wanted to get down to an 8/10. A couple months ago I found some pictures when I was a 14/16 and around 220 lbs, which is my smallest ever. I could just kick myself for not appreciating what I had and taking care of myself better. I was still so unhappy with my looks thinking I was an oompa loompa. I look at those pictures now and I was pretty smokin, definitely one of those if only moments. I am also 5'9 and big boned so would be thrilled to get back to being active and healthy in the low 200's.

Oh yes, I totally agree on the "normal" clothing shopping. That would be HUGE for me. And I think you get there at a 14 or 16 depending on the store - so my 14ish is a pretty good match.

Hrm - I am a bit of a clothes horse now. I wonder if I'll break the bank when I have that selection! Then again, maybe I'd need fewer clothes as it wouldn't be as difficult to find what I want. I end up buying "ok" stuff rather than only stuff I love because, well, it at least fits right. Pants are a huge problem - giant bum, little waist (relatively speaking, of course). If they fit, I buy them. And I'm still short on pants. Baby got back doesn't equal great pant options!

I'm with Rhidenissen on this one, I don't really have an ideal clothing size or weight. My goal it to be out of the obese catagory in BMI. I want to be able to be active without getting out of breath, be able to shop in the normal sizes and not the plus sizes and yes, to be out of the 200lbs range.

Joyce

Another great question!

Like Becky, I change from day to day. Right now I fit into a size 12 pants and jeans!! Yea me!!! I always said if I could get into a 12 I would be thrilled. I am! I feel like a rock star! But here's the thing. The next day I thought well maybe a size 10 would be better! I think I will.......not sure here! I must be both!

In the beginning of my journey I was a total numbers person but as time goes by and I feel so much better and am able to buy smaller sizes I don't know. Some weeks when I lose a couple of pounds it's the numbers and some days when I go shopping and can wear a smaller size I change my mind. When is enough, enough?

I don't really have an "ideal" size or weight. I'll be happy to be shopping in the "normal" part of the store instead of the "plus" part.

ohhh what a good question. hmm well you know I have to say all the clothes makers today in todays fashion world need a lesson of some sort .. today sizes are not ture to anything and I think they make them up as they go.. or maybe I am just blind to what is out there who knows,
but my goal is to weigh 177 to 180 now 13 years ago when I weighed that I was a size 12 but.. I am not so sure if that is going to be true when I hit that weight again.. I also think my body has changed big time since I am over the 40ish number ok ok 47... I am finding that things are going south and maybe even west who khows.. all I do know is that I am happy to be 63lbs lighter then I was 8 mths ago.. and that I dont huff and puff when I walk, I can walk the whole mall and my hips dont hurt. I can run on a teadmill. there are certin things I am able to do that I could not do when I was heavy.. and that is far sweeter then any number or size..

Hi everyone - I hope you're all on your way to a fabulous weekend!

I just saw a post in another forum about clothing sizes and it got me to thinking. How do you set your "goals"? Are you aiming for a certain weight or a particular clothing size?

I kind of do both. I think if I get to 199 (hey, I just want under 200) I will be about a 14 or so. I don't really know as I've pretty much always been fat. I'd love to get to 175 but I'm not sure that is realistic for me. I really AM big boned on top of being fat. Really! I'm also 5ft 9in tall and have size 12 feet (yikes!) so teeny isn't going to happen for me - and I'm ok with that. I think if I reach the 175 I will be about a 12 and will look positively thin - no joke! I'm pretty solid so that would be incredible. But 199 and/or 14 will be just fine with me!

The numbers are daunting in both lbs and size terms. Short term goal will be a 20 and 250. Looking back, I looked pretty great at that size too compared to now.

So what about you? Are you a pounds or size person? Or both?
