I hate the Yankees. All aspects. Fans, ownership, many of the players and even when they come to play elsewhere. Look no further than Lee Mazilli, who never had a chance as the Orioles manager because he was too associated with New York.

My college roommate was from Long Island. Begrudgingly I consented to the Thurman Munson poster on our wall, from this perspective: the only good Yankee is a dead Yankee. What stung is when he told me that we can hate the Yankees all we like, but its simply not mutual. The Orioles, however good we may be (and were then), simply were seen as any other opponent. Hatred, for Yankees fans, is reserved for (only) the Red Sox. That stung, as its more satisfying to be hated back.

Several pf the blogs and comment section I read are show a very violent side to the Ynakees fan base. A couple of their favorite themes are that anyone who won't support a loser is a fair weather fan (Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Kansas City). ANd at the same time, since the Yankees have not won the World Series every year and partiularly have not done well in the playoffs, they, the fans, are suffering a nightmare and it's totally justified to abandon the Yankees.

Every other team in the playoff is overrated and underperforming ... doesn't that describe the Yankees more than the Orioles, Tigers, or Athletics?

And anyone who says bad things about the Yankees is a hater.

I for one do not hate the Yankees. I actually first paid attention ot baseball in 1960 when the Orioles were in a September show down with the Yankees for first place. The Yankees swept the Orioles, but thpse were the first two teams I knew about. The Red Sox on the other hand were almost good every year, but not quite.

What I do hate are the Yankees FANS. They think that they are so loyal because they have the game shirt and they go to games at the Stadium (only one Stadium in all of baseball you know). They think they know baseball inside and out. One fellow even pointed out to his reader that "I'm from New York so I know my baseball." Then proceeded to dismiss the Jeffery Maier incident, citing the wrong rule and the wrong year (1996, not 1997).

I was actually present at OPACY when an inebriated Yankees bully "fan" tried to make an Orioles fan take off his hat to show some respect.

So do you hate the Yankees team and organization? DO you hate what their free spending represents (not like they'r the only ones who do it)? Or do you, like me, actually hate their know nothing bully boy fans?
