Cannot conjure up a lot of enthusiasm for the Ravens just now. Still very much in mourning over the baseball season that was, and that ended prematurely with so much possibility for even more unexpected greatness. #WhatanOrangeOctober!

I would pitch Tillman before Saunders. Just saying. But yes, the Yankees expose the soft underbelly of their weak starting rotation the next two weeks.

Phil Hughes and Hiroki Kuroda?

Against Miguel Gonzales and Joe Saunders?

As long as the fix isn't in from MLB, Inc., and after seeing Ichiro run all around the Inner Harbor and still not get called out I am not sure of anything ... can't have a BW-WS bad for ratings ... I thing the Orioles have the edge in the next two games. And this crew is not particularly in awe of the Yankees or Yankees Stadium.

(Was Weiters supposed to follow him into the clubhouse and the stands to get him out? Come on ump!)

Frank Abagnale Sr.: You know why the Yankees always win, Frank?
Frank Abagnale, Jr.: 'Cause they have Mickey Mantle?
Frank Abagnale Sr.: No, it's 'cause the other teams can't stop staring at those damn pinstripes. (Catch Me If You Can)

I don't think these Orioles have that problem.

But ...

Even at 75-0 when leading after the 7th inning, even with a 30-9 one-run record, even with 16 straight extra inning wins, the Orioles cannot count these Yankees down until the last out is recorded. They are dangerous with a potent line up where even Russell Martin can drive one.

History lesson: Lamarr Hoyt of the White Sox, the best pitcher in the league, beat us in Game 1 of the '83 ALCS (then a best of 5).

We knew we would face Hoyt again in Game 5. Therefore, we knew we simply had to win 3 in a row, and avoid that Game 5 rematch. This is just what happened. (Thank Tito Landrum again, when you have the time).

The Orioles need to win the next 2, to avoid a CC Sabathia rematch in Game 5 for the same reason. So the question is: can we?
