It was 1968. I was 7 years old.

The O's have tickets. Change your seats around and get one for Dad too!

What an awesome line up. I not sure of the date but thinking late 60's early 70's I will have to look it. I bet you had an awesome time. The day will come and we will be back on top again. I have faith. Yes tis is my first time going to opening day. It will be just me and my daughter I feel bad we should have included Dad but thought he would be working. We were wrong it just so happens to be a day off for him.

I'm going with B too and I'll say 75 games. Tim you have no faith. Like Connie every year I say this will be better. I have nothing to back mine up with either. Really they are my team and will always be my team no matter what or how they do. I too will be going to opening day my first ever. Should be fun. Lets go O's.

Every year I begin the season full of high hopes. And every season, the Os start out with a bang. Then it all goes downhill. emoticon

I'm still hoping for an amazing change, but given past performance, I'm going to go with B; I hope they win MORE than 60 games. I have no facts to support this, just hope.

As for how many games they will win, I'll just pick a number out of the hat: 65
Again, I have no factual reason for choosing this number; just a lot of hope.

My dream? emoticon ...ending the season at 500 or over

The Orioles will struggle to win 60 games this year. Maybe as many as 63. So let's show some hope 63 - 99. By the end of june we will be wondering what they can do to NOT lose 100 games. Showalter will be shown the door before August and they will simply throw their hands up and give Rick Dempsey his shot .. he won't be able to do any worse with this bunch.

The pitching staff exchanged mediocrity for more mediocrity. The Jamie Guthrie trade returned a marginally worse starter for the Orioles "ace," a pitcher who might be the number four starter in Denver. Oh, and a reliever who will probably begin the season at AAA. There is still no clubhouse leader. Roberts will likely no be back before June if at all. So still no permanent second baseman and no shortstop to speak of. Generally, Duquette picked up a whole kennel full of mutts over the winter.

And as if the Orioles don't have enough problems, they are in "exploratory talk" with Manny Ramirez.

I will be at opening day. I am thinking of brining a banner that carried the Brooklyn Dodgers' perennial end of season battle cry: "Wait'll Next Year"

Pitchers and catchers report to Sarasota (I'm old and want to say Miami - our spring home for decades) in a few days. It's time to make a forecast. Here is how the game works:

The O's won 69 last year. Most of us are disappointed in the off-season changes, suggesting an even worse 2012. But we also seemed to have disproportionately unlucky last year (read no further than Brian Matusz), so maybe we will be better.

Part 1: There are two possible choices here:

A - We win 70 or more games. Winning fewer than 60 games also falls in the A category.

B - We win 60 to 69 games.

State A or B and defend your reason in three sentences or less.

****

Part 2 - How many will we win? Again, defend...

***

I'll start: I say "A"; we go 75-87. Six more wins because the starting pitching is worth one win more per spot (that's five) given new blood and greater experience. I also think we get one win out of the bench, which seemingly will be better than last year.
