All of them as far as I could find appear to have no children before the scriptures I read. Sterile? Depends on the definition, I guess, The wording I saw was from "unable to have children" to barren? Give us the answer Alice. Thanks. I am just not sure about this one.

I also say servant of nego. Abednego was one of the people of Israel taken to Babylon. He was with Shadrach, Meshach in Daniel 3. They went into the fiery furnace. They were given Babylonian names and Abed-Nego meant servant of Nego, a pagan god.

Ok Jill that is a tough one-could not find it in my bible, ans searching the internet gives me lots of speculation! Will be interested to see the answer to this one! My best guess right now would be b. servant of Nego, but can't find the scripture to back it up!

I love that fact too. Moses had his lows, but his highs were amazing. He messed up a lot, but God knew his heart and could use him mightily for His purpose.

WV_CAROLE You are indeed correct. The bible itself tells us who wrote the books!

Exodus 24:4: “And Moses wrote all the words of the LORD. And he rose early in the morning, and built an altar at the foot of the mountain, and twelve pillars according to the twelve tribes of Israel.”

Exodus 34:27-28 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Write these words, for according to the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.” So he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread nor drank water. And He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.” I

The issue as to the authorship of the first five books is also enforced by the testimony of the Jesus Christ. Jesus made it clear that Moses wrote these books (Mark 7:10; 10:3–5; 12:26; Luke 2:22,5:14; 16:29–31; 24:27, 44; John 7:19, 23). Jesus Christ quoted from every part of the Pentateuch (5 books) and attributed the authorship to Moses: Genesis (Mt. 19:4-6; 24:37-39); Exodus (Mk. 12:26 citing Ex. 3:6); Leviticus (Mt. 8:4 citing Lev. 14:1-32); Numbers (Jn. 3:14-15 citing Num. 21:8,9 and Jn. 6:31-32 citing Num. 11:6-9); Deuteronomy (Mk. 10:4-5 citing Deut. 24:1).

The early church, believed Moses was the author, the Jerusalem Talmud and the first century Jewish historian Josephus.

John 1:17 For the law was given through Moses” So he is attributed to be the author of the law which is found ion Leviticus and Deuteronomy).

Jesus refers to Moses in marriage that is established in the beginning of Genesis. Mark 10:3-8 “What did Moses command you?” They said, “Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce, and to dismiss her.” And Jesus answered and said to them, “Because of the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept. But from the beginning of the creation, God 'made them male and female.' 'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh'; so then they are no longer two, but one flesh.”

John 8:4-5 They said to Him, “Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses , in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned.”

Numbers 33:2-3 “Now Moses wrote down the starting points of their journeys at the command of the LORD. And these are their journeys according to their starting points”

Deuteronomy 31:9: “So Moses wrote this law and delivered it to the priests”

John 5:46-47 “For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?”

When did Moses write about Jesus? In Gen.3:15 when the prophecy of the Messiah was first given. Also when Jesus spoke of “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up” John 3:14)

Mark 12:26-27 ‘But concerning the dead, that they rise, have you not read in the book of Moses , in the burning bush passage, how God spoke to him, saying, 'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'? 27 He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living. You are therefore greatly mistaken.”

Here Jesus does not cite book of Exodus but calls it the book of Moses. There are many more examples like this.

Luke 16:31: But he said to him, 'If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.' “

Luke 24:27:And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself. “

Moses authored the book until he died (chapter 34 of Deuteronomy).

Deuteronomy 31:24: “Moses made an end of writing the words of this law in a book” the whole Pentateuch. Joshua is told to continue the writing. The Old Testament books have numerous references to the laws, history, of the Pentateuch they are universally accepted as words of Moses.

Moses is thought to be the author, The New Testament confirms this authorship John 5:45-47 is a good example.

emoticon Alice!! You are correct !!

The Bible is actually a library of 66 books, written by 44 authors over a period of about 1500 years. The 39 books of the Old Testament were composed between 1400 and 400 B.C., the 27 books of the New Testament between A.D. 50 and A.D. 100.

When the Bible was first written, there were no chapters or verses as today. In fact, many of the early, handwritten manuscripts were written without spaces between the words! Stephen Langton divided the Bible into chapters about A.D. 1228. The Old Testament was divided into verses by R. Nathan in A.D. 1448, and Robert Stephanus divided the New Testament into verses in A.D. 1551. The first complete Bible with chapter and verse divisions was the Geneva Bible of A.D. 1560.

Divisions as used today were developed by Stephen Langton, an Archbishop of Canterbury around A.D. 1227.

I think there was someone earlier that started to divide up the Bible.

My bible only lists Proverbs 7:2, looked it up on the internet (my go to source for looking up puzzling things I read) this seems to be the most accurate answer: 8 places with Deuteronomy 32:10 being the first

Deu 32:10 He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye.
Psa 17:8 Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,
Pro 7:2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.
Son 2:3 As the apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among the sons. I sat down under his shadow with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste.
Son 8:5 Who is this that cometh up from the wilderness, leaning upon her beloved? I raised thee up under the apple tree: there thy mother brought thee forth: there she brought thee forth that bare thee.
Lam 2:18 Their heart cried unto the LORD, O wall of the daughter of Zion, let tears run down like a river day and night: give thyself no rest; let not the apple of thine eye cease.
Joe 1:12 The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, are withered: because joy is withered away from the sons of men.
Zec 2:8 For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.

"Jochebed ....... the mother of Moses"

The Birth of Moses
1Now a man from the house of Levi went and married a daughter of Levi. 2The woman conceived and bore a son; and when she saw that he was beautiful, she hid him for three months. 3But when she could hide him no longer, she got him a wicker basket and covered it over with tar and pitch. Then she put the child into it and set it among the reeds by the bank of the Nile.…

Facts and Trivia about the Bible

Lot's wife is not named in the Scripture, nor her race or family

Genesis 19:15-16 When the morning dawned, the angels urged Lot to hurry, saying "Arise, take your wife and your two daughters who are here lest you be consumed in the punishment of the city." And while he lingered, the men took hold of his hand, his wife's hand, and the hands of his two daughters, the Lord being merciful to him, and they brought him out and set him outside the city.
Genesis 19:26 But his wife looked back behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

Micah 5:2-3

2"But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Too little to be among the clans of Judah, From you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, From the days of eternity." 3Therefore He will give them up until the time When she who is in labor has borne a child. Then the remainder of His brethren Will return to the sons of Israel

I believe the answer is in Acts 5:33-40. It was a Pharisee named Gamaliel who persuaded the Sanhedrin. Although my Bible mentions Peter only and then says the other apostles. I hope this is the answer! Happy New Year!

and the angels of darkness

Paul blinded Barjesus.

Acts 13:11

And now, indeed, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you shall be blind, not seeing the sun for a time. And immediately a dark mist fell on him, and he went around seeking someone to lead him by the hand.

Well, I am sorry about that. It has been a busy week. I have so much that I have to do to get ready for surgery and other little explosions of life that I got a little behind. Please forgive. Here is the next question: Show Book, Chapter and Verse, please. Thank you Judy

What did Paul do to Barjesus?

1, Praised him
2. Blinded him
3. Blessed him
4. Preached to him.
