I am like MBTEPP...me, myself, and music. Like what was mentioned, runners are pretty friendly. Most of my races, at the beginning there is usually a stranger that runs at my pace. We will usually use each other to pace ourselves. Then after mid-race its time to kick it in gear and split the pack up.

Personally, I find it hard during my training time to find someone to run with. Getting schedules synchronized is difficult.

I ran a 10K and a 10 Nautical Mile race myself, with music! I have done a 1/2 and two 5K's with someone.

Having someone to celebrate with is nice, but running alone is okay too!

MIGSJG, I could have written the same exact thing. I find running alone helps me. Having recently lost my mom and now my dad is having some health issues, running is me time. Plus I am also slow and don't feel comfortable yet to run with someone else. Eventually I will get to a point where I can share my time and my thoughts with someone else and feel like I'm not holding them back. In my family there are several runners, but I just took this up this year and could not even attempt to keep stride with them.

I think I am just going to have to suck it up and run them... with or without others. emoticon

Me, my music and I. Oh, my. After a year, my DIL and or my DD join me on some races. It's fun to have someone there to share the experience, but runners are open and friendly. I never feel out of place as a lone runner.

I run alone too. I usually find someone during a race that runs at my slow speed so its all good.

I am fairly new to running, completing my first 5k last year after my mother died. It has become my way to work out the stress of losing a parent. My pace is still slower than typical "race pace," (13 min versus 8-9 min/mile). I haven't found a running club in which I can keep up with their pace. However, I still want the challenge to be better so I have entered multiple 5k races. Each alone. I hope to eventually meet up with someone I feel comfortable running with; however, I am not going to let doing it alone stop me from that feeling I get crossing the finish line.

I may not have gone where I INTENDED to go, but I think I've ended up where I NEEDED to be.

Hello! Just wondering how many of you run local races alone? I would love to run more races, but have a hard time finding people to do it with me... usually for one reason or another. Any of you run them alone?
