Sprouts, WTG on your first place finish!!!! Woot, Woot:)

Me, no exercise yesterday, just sailing. Today, more sailing then a 2 mile to a restaurant, an amazing dinner then a 1.5 mile walk home. It was all good today:) Beautiful, not a cloud in the sky and warm enough to sail in a sweatshirt instead of our winter gear. Getting south now.

Yesterday I had a run/walk. I think I am starting over as I have run 3 times in the last 12 weeks. We still don't have the engine part but DH was able to replace the leaky seal. So, we left Myrtle Beach on our continuing trip to warmer weather.
Hope everyone has a great work week:)

Yay Carrie!!!!
Nera, oh no. I am glad though that there is a road back for her.
We are waiting, still, for an engine part to arrive so that we can continue our journey to warm weather. It is not warm here but it is also not snowing. Phew.
Hope all had a great Thanksgiving, or a great Thursday:)

Wow Carrie that is terrific. Glad it all worked out for you. We are doing Thanksgiving at the Courage Center a rehab facility where my sister in law is doing inpatient therapy after her stroke. Not sure if I mentioned this here but three weeks ago she was rushed to the hospital and it turned out that untreated high blood pressure had caused her brain to bleed.. It will be a long road back.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I am excited to report that I will be starting my new position on Tuesday. I was able to take the new job, and I'm thrilled about my new commute. Even more exciting is that I am going to gain back running time! I love running before work, and I hadn't been able to do that all fall. I know it's going to give me more energy.

Have a super day!

Good evening everyone! I am back on Spark after too much time of not tracking or being committed to making myself healthy. I am slowly working my way back into running. I did the Run Around the Square 5K and the Great Race 5K in Pittsburgh in August and September. Haven't done much since then. I have started with a walk/run process again to get back into shape. Hoping to do Just a Short Run in March. My younger sister has started running - although she has not struggled with her weight as much - but it is nice to have someone else who is a beginner in the family. I look forward to getting to know all of you and checking in regularly for motivation.

Went for a run/walk this morning. The run part was fine except it hurt to breathe. Hmmmm, I wonder what is going on with that. Could it be just because I haven't run in about 8 weeks??

Went to Run Club last night, tested out my new Transcends, had a cautious safe run, and really loved the ride. I actually had to get used to them but after I finished that 5K, I was rockin' it! (Oh the temp was around 56 degrees, which made for an easy run!)

Wow!!! I read down to the bottom. I so miss you all! It's nice to see some of us "old" rookies in here! Hi to the ones who I don't know yet emoticon I see my sweetie Bobby has been on lately complaining about losing his motivation! I'm working on him! I have no problem getting in my exercise (minus the issue with my knee injury...but I still did some exercise) it seems my problem is eating the right amount. I have gained some back and need to take 15-20 back off! Like Suezette said...Tracking is the answer! I am back to it and hoping to keep that up.

I did 4 miles today. Working back up to running. Did about 1/2 at a slow jog and the rest walking. The knee is doing well. Hoping the cortisone shot helps to get me back out there!

Have a great evening all!

Anne

Hi team. We liked anchoring so much that we have done it three more times! It is quiet:) Tomorrow we have a short trip (18 miles) of about 2-2.5 hours then we will be at a marina through Thanksgiving. DH's family is in S. Carolina so we will spend that holiday with them. No running for me yet. I have been doing a bit of walking, not everyday though, and my foot is better:) Almost 100% pain free. It feels nice to not have foot pain, finally.
Happy work week all.

Yeup, me too, need Spark! I disappeared for a while, but after gaining little by little realized I needed the accountability of logging every blooming thing. For me, OCD seems to be the only way to keep the weight off!

doris- hope it all went well on anchor i am so envious of your life right now

nera- good for you taking the time to get the mamo.

sprouts- please rethink. our friend gets one every year and was recently diagnosed with stage 2, now going thru chemo and then radiation. if she had waited an extra year she would have waited 2 yrs in between it would have been too late, she had no family history.

have to say i miss racing but not running so much. still searching for motivation to get my weight and exercise in control.

Hi!!! I am not here very much... very sorry about that. I read back a bit. Doris... hope ya'll made it okay and didn't float away! That sounds so very adventurous~spending the night on an anchor!
Nera- UGH! I got away from the boob squishing for a few more years. OB said this summer that I "could" wait til I'm 50. So, I will wait til then. Not sure there is a machine small enough anyway. :(
Carrie- hope the new job/current contract works out for you. Not to mention there's a short little jog coming up in the next couple of weeks.... YAY!!! I'm very excited for you!!
Bobby- I cannot imagine having that much wine in the house! WoW! Hubby has about 4 large bottles (cheap grocery store stuff) for when my mom and dad visit... and they haven't been here since he bought these darned things. :(
I've been keeping up on my running. I ran a half in Chicago with 2 long time friends. It was a crazy weekend but we had fun. The actual 'race' was the slowest of my half times, but it's okay. I'm planning to run the Turkey Day 10k here in our town so I'm running for that now.. then will cut back some for the winter. I really want to shed this back fat! Is that something that naturally happens at the age of 45? I had some after the baby was born, then shed it. Now, it's BAACCKK!!! (great pun,eh?) I'm discouraged. I thought gray hairs would be the death of me....
Hope ya'll have a great week! I'm going to try to pop in and meet some of you new peeps and catch up with the 'old' ones... (Not you, Bobby!!! That's not what I mean by "OLD". hee hee hee...)

Got in about 6.25 this morning. So I was offered a teaching position, permanent in the district, at the school LITERALLY across the street from my house. I'm worried that my current district won't let me out of my contact, but I'm going to do everything possible to take this new position. Prayers and positive thoughts would be appreciated.

I really hate waking up because I have a migraine. Haven't had one in several months but, this morning was rough. It is cold here!! Did not expect it to be in the low 40s during the day this far south. Sheesh. We will continue to head south to find flip flop weather:)

Ah, Nera, the annual boob squishing. What joy. Glad its over for you!
Carrie, I hope the job pans out. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.
Bobby, only 52 bottles of wine? Really, why not 104? or more? tee hee hee
We are swinging on our anchor for the night. This is the first time we will spend the night at anchor and not on a mooring or a dock. Pretty sure DH and I will be up at least once an hour to check on things. I do have an anchor minder on my cell phone so it should sound an alarm if we swing to much....meaning we are dragging the anchor. Been here about 6 hours so far with no problems. Phew.
Happy running rooks:)

Had my yearly check up. Not crazy about the fact clinic uses a scale that sits flush in the floor. Same kind the VET USES!!!! Also nurse doing mammogram kept saying are you doing okay? No I am not doing okay so just jump behind your little screen and press the button so this particular nightmare can be over. It doesn't usually hurt but this time was most uncomfortable.

So far not as much snow as was forecasted. Two slow commutes and probably two more tomorrow. My afternoon one wasn't quite so bad as I left early to go to a doctor's appt. In fact I was told to leave even earlier than I planned by my boss. Okay who am I to argue. LOL!!!

Bobby - I have actually gained about 8 pounds since I started marathon training. I've been eating like crazy!

I got an email this afternoon inviting me to apply for an administrative position at a Center City Philly school. Maybe this is my break???

Run this morning was wonderful!!! Well, half running and half walking. My first run since the weird foot sprain. I let it rest for 8 weeks. It feels much better!!!! I will wait a few days before running again........if we are near land so I can run! The sailing has been great this past week. Hoping for more good days.

Happy running all!

Today we are in Elizabeth City, NC. There is a welcoming committee for boaters stopping for the night. We had wine/beer and cheese, chips and dip and a rose for the women:) A lovely place and very welcoming. I think we will stop here again.
Tomorrow, across the Albemarle Sound.

mirage- congrats on all the years of maintaining that is a fantastic accomplishment. totally agree spark helps keep us in line

phooann- bummer on missing the first 5k but when you do get there it will be a memorable one, the one that you always remember so take the time to smell the roses at your first 5k it is awesome.

well we celebrated out 30th anniversary today, did not do much but went out to olive garden for dinner. we will celebrate this weekend with 3 days at the wineries.

still no motivation :(

I am starting over again after suffering a sprained ankle. It happened the day before I was going to do my first 5k. Though I was not at a point in my training yet to run the whole thing, I was still going to go and walk/run it. So know I have been not running or working out for 4 weeks. I tested the ankle and just did a 1 min. walk/ 3 min run, three reps 2 days last week, to see where I was at and how I would feel. Those went pretty well so I am going back to my training in hopes of improvement to be able to do a Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving or the Race for the Light 5k on 12/6. It will all depend on how I am feeling as I will not over push myself and reinjur myself. I also got new running shoes last week! BTW I did not get the sprained ankle from running. I tripped in my driveway taking out the garbage. haha

Funny I should post today and read Carrie's post! I've had passing thoughts about SparkPeople. I realized this where I document my journey! It also reminds me where I've been. I just celebrated 4 years on SP, 3 1/2 years maintaining, and on Thanksgiving Day, I will celebrate 4 years as a runner. This IS a part of my Lifestyle

Leave SP? No thanks, I'm good!

carrie- welcome back, there is truly an amazing amount of accountability with spark which is why i guess it is so successful. also remember as your training for your marathon don't skimp on the food and it is common to actually gain weight while in training(you body needs it)

jazz - good luck on the first 10k it is always fun to do the first few at a new distance

i am still struggling with weight, motivation, coupled with the foot injury (i really don't think the PT sessions helped much)
on a good note on 11/3 will be my 30 anniversary being married to the love of my life (miamia7), i think i would be lost without her. next weekend we are taking our annual trek to the wineries to celebrate our anniversary

Glad to see you guys back here. Its been quiet lately.........
We leave tomorrow to enter the official ICW (intra-coastal water-way) for the rest of our trip. I am looking forward to not being beaten up by choppy seas:) I hope we get to where we are headed in time for a walk tomorrow. Its amazing how much better my foot is:) Walked today and yesterday and totally pain free. Woot! Woot!

I thought I could do this without Spark... but the accountability and support here is just too amazing. So here I am again, ready to get the running and tracking mojo back.
