I did my first 5K yesterday, it was a Komen Race for the Cure. I am so excited that I could run most of it. I am planning on doing a 5K every month for a few months and then bump it up to a bigger goal. So, with all these running goals, I thought I would joint this team. Can't wait to get to know you all! :)

So a change in departure date, weather is horrible and our water pump died. Waiting on a replacement to arrive and better weather.....looks like Sunday to leave. Good thing we are not in a hurry!

Good evening. Looks like I get to drive a big van again as we move our son back to college. Weather has turned cold and rainy can't leave a mattress in the back of an open pick up for an hour long ride in the rain.

Most of the "last minute" stuff that needed to get done got done today! Tomorrow, DH has a meeting we must go to, then leaving the car in my parent's barn for the winter. A ride back to the boat, then Wednesday we leave!!! I am excited to go:)
Tatercat, WTG on almost 8 miles!
I think its going to be good that I will not be able to run for at least 2 weeks while we sail south. I will be able to do some yoga and strength while underway. I am hoping that 2 more weeks of no running or walking will cure my foot once and for all.

A big last-hurrah for summer here too. I've been sweating in the garden trying to get it all out and canned before winter hits here.
Doris, Hooray about the foot!
Yay art shows! Boo waiting for workers :(
Yay ST!
Well I've got to get up and at 'em. Have a great Monday, Rookies!

Went to a art fair today. Didn't realize how hot it was outside. High 80's and no breeze and I was in dark jeans. So I probably lost a little water weight today. LOL!!!

Things are still going slow here. Son is driving back and forth to school and complaining about how much he dislikes it. Weather has been nice and we heard that the place we hired to do our driveway wants to do that Friday. Some one has to be home and the hubby with his new job can't. I will have to see tomorrow if my boss will approve a very late notice vacation day.

Well I haven't gone walking yet but I am moving more. While I watch tv I do some leg lifts and some sit ups. I am making baby steps with my eating. I didn't eat birthday cake today at work and I have shaved some calories off my morning snack each day. So I know it is all very small baby steps but it is something.

Wow the bull riding we went to was so fun. Had great seats. The part we paid extra for to meet the riders was kind of lame. Also my t-shirt XL ladies is a bit too small. Very sad as it can't be returned but maybe this will finally get my butt moving to lose a pound or two. I guess I will use what ever motivation I can find. LOL!!!!

My profile picture is me with Ben Jones a pretty well know guy if you like bull riding. He rides with a broken collar bone. I guess I could go for a walk even when I feel tired then. LOL!!!

Nera, I too like the rodeo. I must admit though, that I root for the bulls and the calves and the horses........:)
Trish, I agree. I could use a break from life right about now. I had 2 teeth that kept getting infected. They have been root canaled and crowned. So, last ditch effort to save them is to cut open the gum, clean out the infection and then seal the root of the tooth. Hopefully this will work as both teeth are visible when I talk or smile.
Tomorrow, a walk and then the beach. It is supposed to be cool but I don't care. I want to go to the beach!

Good evening. Getting super geeked out because I have tickets Saturday to a rodeo here in Minneapolis. I paid extra to go to the corral party before hand. I get to meet cowboys!!!!! Very small town girl of me but I get excited to meet people I have only seen on tv. I wonder if I could lose 30 pounds in 47 hours? LOL!!!!!!

I am feeling somewhat better. Just so tired. I worked a half day and then came home to nap but even though I was very tired I couldn't sleep. I find that so annoying.

Trish: sorry about the Florida trip. There is always another time though:)
Kristen: at least the dm overlooks a river:)
My foot is better today. So, I went to a podiatrist at a sports medicine clinic. I do NOT have a neuroma as the previous podiatrist told me. Sheesh. I have pre-dislocation syndrome, a fancy term for severe tendonitis of the 2nd toe. Some tape and a cushion around the area, and, voila, pain is significantly less:) The Dr. thinks that because it was misdiagnoses and I had 3 cortisone injections is why the pain is so horrible. He says 4-6 weeks of tape and cushioning and it should be just fine. However, no running for at least two weeks. But, walking is fine:) So I will be a walker for the next few weeks.....

Hey all!

Today was a killer busy day as far as work. Did nothing except that, but going to change that tomorrow. The ringette season started today with much drama as usual...have to mediate a ton of issues, but that is the way it goes!

Kirsten - darlin you are AMAZING!!!! I so understand what you are saying about being unbalanced,,,LOL, not just our minds, but our bods too!!! Hope it gets better:) You are doing this so eventually you don't have to!! Love you:):)

Bad news for us....the teachers strike is likely going to move into late October, so we have to cancel our Florida trip (sorry Doris) so glad I didn't tell Monkey that we were going.

Hugs and love,
T

Ah, you guys are all so adorable and supportive with the 'running outside' encouragement! But, you don't need to tell me!! Road running is where it's AT! It isn't self-consciousness that keeps me on the dreadmill at all. I have a medical issue that has led to several serious GI bleeds keeping me indoors and on the sidelines the past couple of years. I don't know if many of you recall, I also broke both my feet in 2011, and there is a structural issue remaining in one foot. You know what happens when you run on pavement and you're off balance?... knee pain, hip pain, back pain... Don't need more of that, thank you very much! Chronic pain is what I'm trying to outrun. So, I have a dreadmill overlooking the river for now. I've been able to manage several 15-minute outdoor excursions without tragedy - I'll keep trying at that and see if I can build up safely.

School is officially killing me. 12-hour hospital shifts and stacks & stacks of reading. Why am I doing this to myself again?

sigh.

Nera, so glad no one was hurt! Feel better!!!
Doris, what the heck is with the foot?
Everyone, *muah* - happy Monday!

I walked one mile today to pick up the take out chinese for dinner. The chinese was excellent but the walk, well, my foot just doesn't like any weight on it at all. Hmmmm.......gotta wait until Tues. to see what the Doc thinks.

Well the move went okay no issues at all. On the drive home we were 10 minutes from home and my son has a car accident right in front of me. Just a minor fender bender no injuries and minor damage. But it got me jogging again because by the time I got pulled over I was about 25 yards up the road so I had to run back along a very busy highway to get to my son. He had things under control but I couldn't just keep driving and leave him. However I had woke up that morning with the start of a cold and the jog along the freeway didn't help. LOL!!!! I didn't log the exercise but I should have. A run is a run no matter why you are running. LOL!!!

Super good news the hubby was offered a full time position with the company he has been temping at. Sooooo relieved.

Now just have to get through tomorrow moving my son out of that house and back home for two weeks. Son is worried they might get confrontational with us. So good thoughts that this all goes smoothly and safely tomorrow.

Wish I could run this week but my foot is saying nope:( I am trying to stay off of it as much as possible, kinda stinks. Oh well. Just not my week this week. It can only get better from here:)

Trish – That hike sounds great! Can I come? I love hiking
Doris – Ugh…that foot still hurts!
Kirsten – Running outside can be hard, but once you start you’ll start to get more comfortable.

If not, I hope that you can find a gym membership that is not too expensive.
Have a happy weekend everyone!

Hey all!

Had to put my van in to the shop today...ouch on the $600 bill and more parts to come. Monkey and I did a few hours of rrrwalking that felt so awesome!!! It was such a beautiful day!

Thanks Sweet Sista - I will do my best:):) We had strikes in the 80's, and they also resulted in no "frill" programs (music, athletics).

Doris, dang girl, I hope your foot feels better soon!!!

Kirsten....love accountability partners:):) Hugs lady, miss you a ton!

Tomorrow I have promised myself that I was going to do a couple hour hike....Josh is stoked!

Gotta fly! Hugs and love,
T

Goegirl I understand not feeling comfortable about running outside. Once you do it a few times it gets easier. Well unless it's 90 degrees lol.

Hi team. Not much happening here.....we continue to get the boat (and us) ready for the "big trip" south. We plan to be on the move around Oct1, weather permitting:) No run today as my foot still hurts. I have rested and iced and worn squishy shoes for the last week or so but no real difference if I put on different shoes. Seeing the specialist on Tuesday. Sigh

Happy Friday all

Ah, with a good teacher (and some patience to learn the routines) Tae bo and kickboxing are SO FUN!!!

Anne, your transportation troubles sound so frustrating to me. I detest driving everyone around. My kids are 8 and 11 and I'm already wondering how old they can be before they can start taking the bus!

Anyhoo, orientation week is almost over. I start my placement on Monday. Have made it out for TWO WHOLE RUNS so far this month (all of 15 minutes each) but I refuse to get discouraged!

In fact, I had a conversation with a fellow-nursing student in which I talked about how great I felt when I was running and how crummy I feel now. Well, I now have an official accountability hound! I have a feeling she is going to be a great resource in keeping me out there. This is my last year of the free gym membership at school, so I guess I'd better make the most of it! (I don't feel comfortable running outside yet. I'm hoping against hope that I can get back out there one day....)

Well, have a great (almost) weekend everyone!

Just a short run yesterday. My legs were sore from the extra workouts so I kept it light. The weather has certainly been better - not scorching hot.
Have a great Thursday everyone!

Hi!!!! Trish- when I was in 7th grade the teachers went on strike. We were out of school for just a week or so but then went back without extra music classes and no bussing!
We are getting busy here,too- homeschooling and now driving the under age college kid to the comm. college. Looks like my Pee Wee hockey player might not have a team this year. The numbers are dwindling (I'm sure it's because of the cost of ice fees) AND they let this age have two travel teams so the house teams(not as much talent) are low. There's a parent meeting Sunday- maybe something can be resolved. I'm not disappointed for me ( I hate all the driving) but dear Jacob is bummed.
I'm still running- just over 2 weeks til my race weekend with friends!!
ack!!! baby in the cooling no bakes... see ya'll!

Nera, so glad that you guys figured out a plan for your son's living while at college. I would loan you a stinky baggie from our cat but you live too far away! Don't think the postal service would be happy if I tried to mail it to you:)
I just walked today, not far and certainly not fast. My foot is sharply more painful today. I am beginning to wonder if I have a stress fracture as well as the stupid neuroma. Sheesh. Our new insurance covers 0% of podiatry issues so why have insurance??
I hope all had a happy hump day:)

Seriously, I am the only one that didn't like it. I have 2 DVD's - maybe I will like the other one. Anyway, that is not my go-to workout. I wanted something different, and wanted to give it another go.
I am with you - running is my main workout...the others are just fun cross-training and targeting other muscles.
Loved PiYo at the gym yesterday!

Okay some good things have happened in the last few days. Found out it would be $400 a month to have my son live at home and drive to school 5 days a week. So that option lost a lot of appeal. His cousin lives in the same town in fact he got my son his new job. Well now he has found him a place to live. A bit more than we wanted to pay but cheaper than living at home and commuting. Plus he gets to keep his job and independence that he has created out there. I think that was bothering him the most about coming home. The only hitch is he can't move in until Oct 1st. So he will have to live at home for a couple of weeks. All in all not a bad resolution in the very short time frame we had to deal with.

And I know that this shows I am a bad person and somewhat shallow but I have been amusing myself by planning what stinky thing I am going to drop down the heat vent at the house my son is leaving. These people have caused my family quite a bit of stress all because they didn't communicate with each other and seem to have some funky family dynamics. It is a good thing we don't have a cat anymore or a baggie of something gross would have found it's way in to that house. LOL!!!

I too love Tae Bo. I find Billy Blanks funny:) No run today. My stinking foot is killing me! I don't even want to stand up:( Our new insurance plan does not cover pre-existing conditions, they consider anything you have been to the Dr for, prior to this plan, to be pre-existing so I don't know if they would cover the surgery needed to fix my foot. Sheesh.
Anyway, it has cooled off here, which is good:) We are heading out in about 3 weeks, weather permitting. Getting exited!!

Hey all,
Another day that our government is not dealing with the teachers issues!!!

Doris, I am looking at the time we are coming down, and depending on the teachers strike, I may or not book...do NOT like it when others decide my life!!!

I love doing Tae Bo! Have about 15 dvds, always a great cross-train!

Monkey has decided to train for a half with me...thinking it may be a destination one, but not sure at this point in time:):)

Hugs,
Trish

Like Billy Blank Tae Bo? I haven't seen that since VHS and Dr Green on the ER show! LOL

I'm going on another short run today...thought about doubling up (I'm doing a C25 thing...again) Will see how I feel...I mainly get "lost" on where to run more than anything. LOL

well, it looks like a house found us...so we'll see. I don't have my hopes up as we would have to sell this one, financing, blah blah blah....

but damn if October is always when we move!!!!

Great job, KEEPITUP05! Kudos for still running without your TM.
Doris – Ouch!

Did some speed running – I was exhausted by the end of the run and thought my time was great, then when I got home I realized that I didn’t shave much off my time emoticon Definitely need to do more interval training.

It's been a long time since posting anything here and it looks like there are many new faces! emoticon September is very busy for us as well. Home schooling starts back up, horseback riding lessons for my youngest, working part-time and training for Pharmacy Tech certification, church events, camping trip etc....... lol
In the mean time my trusty old treadmill died and we ordered a new one. emoticon For the past two weeks I have had to adjust to running in very humid/hot conditions. emoticon It's been good for me though, I feel like I am getting better at pacing myself when running outdoors! The last two runs the weather had cooled off, it was a wonderful treat!!! emoticon

No "exercise" for me today. I went to the pottery studio where there was a claytastrophy! Someone (not me) left a bucket of dirty water on a wheel and then, accidentally, hit the pedal so there was dirty water flung everywhere!!! Kinda funny but very messy. Then, I went to the dermatologist so he could look at my cyst and he cut it out! I did not expect that today. But its done............phew. Stitches come out next week.

Happy Tuesday all:)

Nera - sorry to hear about your son's situation.

Did some Tae Bo yesterday - not for me. Stopped after half an hour, and did PiYo instead. My legs were on FIRE! emoticon

Trish, it depends on when you get to Miami on how far away we will be. We will be somewhere in Florida by early Dec. with no real plans after that:) We shall see where the wind blows us.
Nera, sorry that your son's living arrangements did not work out. Kinda stinks for everyone.

Had a great run this morning. The weather was vastly different from yesterday. It was near 90 F and very humid yesterday. Today, 76F and no humidity with bright blue skies. It was gorgeous!!!!! Should be the same the rest of the week. Phew. We have lots to do before we leave in about 3 weeks.

Happy Monday all

Hey everyone. Life is busy throwing us curves. Hubby's work was bought out. Since he was still a temp new company has to decide if they want to hire him. Was told would decide in a week and it has been two. So I think the answer is no just keep him as a temp until they move the office down to Texas where the new company is located.

Then son called Friday night and his living situation at school radically changed. He moved in to a house with a coworker but in less than a week they changed their minds and didn't feel comfortable with my son there and asked him to move out. Well because they waited and school has started the cheap apartments are gone and everyone has their roommates. Looks like he is going to come home to live and commute to school. It is about a 45 minute drive one way. But he just got a new job in the college town that he has to give up since it doesn't pay enough to drive out there for. He has to try to find one here and in the past has not had good luck finding anything. Plus I am not sure his coming home is the best option. There will be some issues to iron out for sure. I all ready told him mommy doesn't cook and clean everything all the time now so don't think he is coming back to maid service. Also he and my husband are on different ends of the political spectrum so I all ready said no talking politics.

Just got done cleaning the house and have to go to the grocery store. Sometimes I don't enjoy sundays.

Hey all!
Today was soccer Saturday, Missy played really well, but her darned knees are not happy. RICE was her best friend this evening, and likely for the next few. I hope she slows down growing so her knees can catch up. Tomorrow Monkey plays a double header against Penticton - his first game at PeeWee, so her is excited. Dad and Susan are coming up to watch, so should be fun.

Judi, how is harvest coming along? Such a busy time for you guys!

Jazz, I think we should boycot anyone that wants us to deal with more than 2 things at a time!!

Doris, so excited for you...oh yes, did you see my post about Florida? We are flying into Miami first, how far are you guys from there?

Carrie, no end in sight - our government ended up tearing up a contract the teachers had 12 years ago, and the teachers took it to court - judge deemed it to be illegal, so overturned it...govt have appealed it since then. Final appeal will be dealt with in October...sadly, I don't think kidlets will be back before then.Yippppeeee on the last first day of school!!!!

Hugs and love!

I was wondering if there was a new thread this month. Happy September everyone. It's such a crazy month.

Is there any end to the strike in sight, Trish? Best of luck with the harvest, Judi and with the wrapping things up before heading south, Doris. Hi Jazzi!

It's been so nuts around here - even for us. I'm about to start my pre-consolidation placement (second-to-last nursing school placement!) and get to work on my undergraduate thesis. Hoping that this is my LAST first day of school ever. These days I can only run about 15 minutes at a time, but it is my only hope to maintain a little sanity. One. More. Year!

Trish, sorry that teachers are on strike. I am shocked that they would do that when school should be in session. Sheesh.

Hey everyone!
Stickied a new thread - thanks Doris for your name:):)

Back at it after a great holiday, kidlets sports have started up, so we are back to busy. Teachers are still on strike, so no school, but both kidlets will be starting on-line learning ASAP.

Don's parents are here for the next few days, as is my Dad....oy, why do things happen at the same time???

Hugs and love to you all!
