Focusing on the positive, I had a reality check in November which forced me to pull out of the TriRock Clearwater Triathlon. (Despite my achievements, I'm still a disabled veteran.) It took me a month to get back to just run. Then a bad cold hit me, and I was down for another two weeks. That combination will destroy endurance and conditioning as well being mentally weakening. The last three weeks were about bringing it back to normal carefully.

I am running carefully now as I worry about injuring myself in colder temps. (according to Florida standard!)

The bottom line is, and you know this, Trish, you will come back strong! I have to be healthy for D and my Granddaughter! They're my main sources of motivation. Yeah, I have "mental" days but I focus on them and become more determined! I focus on the positive future, and celebrate the past!

You'll be back rocking it, Trish! You're never alone on the journey! Let's do this!

Your story reminds me of me.
Sorry for your loss, I can not imagine the pain you go thru.

I admire you.
You sound like a strong woman who can reach a goal no matter what!

In 2007 I was able to run a 5k with no walking. Now... I can walk one, My heart wants to be a runner but my body id not there yet. Since 2007 life has taken over, we get so busy sometimes we forget the things that make us feel good. I remember how I felt after my first 5k... I felt pound, invincible.
I want it back!

So my plan for February is to start at step one... only where to go is up.

I wish you luck and know we are never alone in our struggles. emoticon

We can do this!!! Let's work with each other to get over the mountain, together we can move mountains:)

Did not much for a few days, but today I brought it...have a plan in writing for tomorrow and told my kidlets about it, so they will hold me accountable.

Hugs,
Trish

I imagine that a great part about starting over is that, even though it's hard at first, you know how amazing it will become. Hang in there!

Thank you so much for sharing your story. I have been "stuck" this past year due to a move/job change and honestly when I hear what you have had to deal with it gives me some perspective. We just have to take it one day at a time and running has certainly helped me.

With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

Hope everyone had a great day! Mine was kind of lazy, but in my defense i didn't get home from playing basketball until midnight last night!

I have a jogging "date" with one of my good friends tomorrow night after work! Super excited...and found out about a 5 miler i ran a few years back....being at the end of this month, it'll surely be slower than the last time...but it'll be great to do it!

Hey girls!

Haven't done a run in a few days, but have purged my house...feels kinda like running a marathon! Managed to do 4 rwalks last week, felt like I was pulling teeth, but it will feel better soonish;):0

My sister in law is coming tomorrow...gotta look my hubby's death in the eye, and deal with it...

Hugs to you all:):)

Looking forward to a good week!!

Yesterday was crazy 24 hour shift, and i'm on my last few hours of the total 36....needless to say not everything works the way you plan! BUT i have managed to nail down a doable plan for the week, and my work load isn't nearly as bad as last week thankfully!! Hoping the clouds will go away when i'm ready to jog tonight!!!!

Have a great rest of your weekend ya'll!! :)

Thanks TXHRT4U!!! :)

since my post this morning i discussed a plan with my partner for the day (I work as an EMT and always have to consider a 911 call plan of action and the person i'm working with) and i found a half mile block right next to the ambulance bay!! So it's close enough that if there is a call i can get back or the ambulance can pick me up in route to the call!! GREAT PLAN!!!

I got changed and off i went, 6 laps around the block, i started out jogging half a lap and walking half a lap....and every third lap i jogged the whole half mile :) it's not where i once was but it was better than what i did yesterday or even the day before that!!!

now i have a base line for when i'm at this facility for what i can do, and how to tell i'm doing better!!! :) some realistic measurements!!!

Thanks for the support!

a plan is in the making :)

NVRSTOPLAUGHIN, emoticon on your progress. I hope you receive the motivation to continue. I know how hard it is to stay motivated and one thing I have found that helps so much is to get a ACCOUNTABILITY partner, COMMIT to a plan, then carry out that plan on a daily basis.

I can absolutely relate to where you are right now, I've been trying to get back on track for the past year off and on, but had so much on my platter. Monday I officially passed my big test, I am in the midst of a job transformation but even that is on the easier less stressful side of life now.....
And i agree it's more difficult to start again after you had such a success previously, i had lost 180 pounds starting at 376...and am now 258 ;/ I remember how happy and energetic i was, how much i loved feeling sore muscles and sweating...but haven't been feeling it lately!! it will come with time....

I think this is the motivational group i've been in search of!!
we can totally do this together!!
Congrats on making the decision and acting on it!

Hugs,

Trish, I am amazed at your strength. You have managed to keep the kidlets life as normal as possible through the most horrible time of your life. You know you can do this AND you know that we are standing beside you with encouragement, hugs and tears as needed. You go Girl!:)

Hey you lovely group of rookie runners!

The past several years have been extremely difficult for me, and I find myself back at the beginning of the journey, so am hoping some of you are ready to walk through it with me. I can't even tell you how much weight I have gained because I threw out my scale 6 years ago when I was rocking the program.
Today I did a walk/run...it wasn't pretty, but it did happen (4k in total). I had a difficult time even jogging 200 metres...ok, here we go!!!

I know it will feel better with time, I also know it will likely feel better faster than before because of muscle memory, but it is a tough sell when you know where you were, to where you are. Part of moving forward is accepting where you are, and looking to where you want to be. I have a picture of my kidlets and I that was taken 2 days before my first marathon. We looked so happy!!! Don was at Depot (RCMP training academy), and wanted to do runs with me...he HATED running, so it didn't really work. My Dad ran the last 100 metres of the race....he couldn't keep up with me, which was AWESOME!!!. Don passed away last year from an aggressive cancer, and I haven't been able to move forward since then...kind of stuck. We were married for 16 years, together for 19...had 2 wonderful kidlets,

I hope that by getting the rwalk in today (aka - run/walk), and by talking about this, I can try to find a way to keep on moving forward.

Tomorrow I am planning on a 45 minute rwalk,

Many of you know me, I am the founder of this group, and have run a ton of races, but our biggest race is our life, and I want to walk this one with people that want to make a difference with the most important thing...YOU~~~

If all you get is all you give, then you should only give all you''ve got.
