I had someone ask me today if I had lost weight. that I the third time in about a month. If I am losing weight I am writing a book called the couch potato diet. LOL!!

On Friday I ran 5.5 miles non-stop! First time and I was so happy afterwards!

CHEPRBYTHEDOZN – Great job on the training
Judi – 3.5 miles is fantastic. The humidity is not that bad – but as I said I need to find water fountains if I want to run 6 miles. I get very thirsty very easily.

Judi - It seems that way emoticon But my runs have been cut down, way down - too hot and humid. Have you been running lately?

I need to go bike riding one of these days around my tiny town and see if I can discover some water fountains. I am sure that if I can find some water along the way, I can manage six miles.

Found a yoga studio on my morning run today. The price and location are right and the guy who lead the class yesterday works there! Woot Woot. It is humid here so my morning run was a lot of walking too.

Judi, glad FIL is getting better. Hope your DH is coping well.
I discovered that the small city we now live in has free "Yoga in the Park" on Tuesdays at noon. I went and found that I like "regular" yoga much better than its hot counterpart! I will look for a studio within walking distance to go more regularly as it is good for me, much like strength training:)

We got home last night from the hospital. Recovery is going well, and he will be in hospital til about Thursday. It was a long weekend of sitting around, but I'm hoping to get back on my feet this week!

It was a glorious day for sailing today. We set sail around 9 this morning and stopped around 4pm. Hasn't been this great in a while:) Gotta love that my only exercise was the nap I took on the trampoline:)

Went shopping for cowboy boots tonight. I always wanted a pair so I am using some of my quilt money to buy a pair. But man they can be expensive. Haven't found a pair yet but fun looking.

Dad is fine. He had a horrible reaction to one of his medications. No more medication, no more vomiting, dizziness or really low electrolytes. Phew. He is on a new med, hopefully no side affects this time.
Ran after dinner tonight. It was great!!!! I was about 1.5 minutes per mile faster, what?!?!?! I think I will vary my running between morning and evening for a while.

A 3 miler yesterday and just a walk today. It has been very humid here but its changing over night:0 Phew. I would run tomorrow but it will be at night/late afternoon. I usually run in the am so I am interested to see how it goes later in the day. Dad is in the hospital in Boston and Mom wants to go see him (me too) so I will drive her so she doesn't get lost. She doesn't drive much so driving in a big city is not in her wheelhouse.

Got in some slow miles this morning. It's SO humid. My plan for these days is to do shorter runs, but on back-to back days. So instead of doing 6 yesterday, I did 3 and 3. As long as my body tells me it's ok, I'll keep doing that this summer.

I'm getting materials ready for an interview tomorrow morning - I feel really prepared, but my nerves are also kicking in. Positive thoughts! I work this evening, so that will help keep my mind from focusing too much on tomorrow.

weed whacked today for Dad. He has a torn rotator cuff and can't use his left arm....good thing he is right handed! It seems that rotator cuff injuries come in 3s: DH, SIL and now, Dad. Dad is not a candidate for surgery though as his muscles and tendons are "fragile" due to his age so he has to go to therapy twice a week and let it heal on its own. OUCH!!! So, I have been doing much of the yard work for them. He can use the riding lawn mower so I don't have to that. The best thing, they have a lovely swimming pool for cooling off in after the work is done:)

The quilt has been given away.. They seemed to like it. Was suppose to be displayed during the party but there wasn't a good spot. The MIL of the woman I created it for quickly kiboshed the idea. LOL!!! Now the after project let down sets in. Happens every time. They become so consuming that when it is finally done and given away feel kind adrift. So today I will bump around and clean up the sewing room. I slept in until 10:30am this morning. So wow guess I needed some sleep.

Hi all!

I spent all of yesterday sleeping - I came home on Friday night with a nasty cold/flu/something! I'm feeling better today. Still not 100% and ready to run, but at least I don't feel like I'm going to pass out! Headed off to church and then I'm spending some time by the river with a friend. Should be a great day!

Nera, when Native Americans made weavings, they included an error on purpose so it would not be perfect, because no one is perfect. It might work with your quilt error:)
Got in a 3.5 miler this morning. It was good:) Phew.
Our marina has the replicas of Columbus's ships: The Nina and The Pinta. Today, another boat hit the Nina and damaged both boats. Sheesh. People should really pay attention to instructions and to where they are going. At least neither boat had a hole to let in water.

Well I hand over the quilt tomorrow night. I was cleaning up loose threads and putting a label on it. I took it upstairs to show my hubby and while I am cutting another thread I notice something. I little trianglular cut in the quilt aka a hole. Well you can imagine some of the things I said. It was on the back and I tried zig zagging over it but couldn't cover it the way I wanted. Next I put a patch on the back with double sticky interfacing. Luckily the fabric allows it to blend in. Not super obvious but have never had that happen before. So why did it have to happen on the quilt I am getting paid to do. I will come up with some quilting mumbo jumbo in case they notice. Neither quilt so I am sure I can say it was some part of the design or quitling tradition to do something like this. Since I need it in less than 24 hours it is not like I can start over. LOL!!!!

Cheer up Ladies! It is Friday and we have the whole weekend to burn off the extra calories. That is why we run - to burn off the ice-cream and half a breadstick I ate yesterday.

Yesterday did some upper ST and core. Today I should go for a run, but I am so busy I might end up doing a HIIT at home.

Most of the gardening at Mom's house is done. Phew. I spent 4 hours today weeding and pruning and trimming. My brother needs to help Dad pull out some BIG scrubs and replace them with something a little smaller. I have some transplanting to do and some more dead-heading after blossoms die.

Judi - Great job on the 10K. I am thinking of signing up for one this year, but I am still not confident. A lot of people would have complained about the rain - I am glad that you enjoyed it.

Trish glad to hear that your kids are doing so well in sports. Sorry that Don's parents are bringing up mixed feelings. Big hugs coming your way. Is your daughter a goalie both in soccer and ringette?

The quilt is quilted. I wish I had more time. I have the binding half on then when that is done I have lots of small threads to cut off. It looks nice but as usual there are things I wish I had done better or different.

My 10K race was really good, and I felt the best afterwards that I've ever felt after a race. I love that distance! It rained both while we were waiting for the start (so we got soaked), and after the race was over, but I missed any rain during. And no bugs! Loved it and ready to do another one.

So, the painting party was fun. We went to "Muse" and followed along to paint our own fireworks picture. Wine was had by all (not too much for me as I was driving). Then, we had a private wine tasting at a local vineyard. They had some yummy wines, but the only place to get them is at the winery. Oh darn, I will have to go back:)
Today, a cook out at my niece's house. It was fun.
Cassie: how was your race? I am sure you did just fine.
Trish, hope you and the kidlets had fun with the grandparents.

I'm ready to run my first 10k race of the year. Thankfully, it's not raining, just cold and foggy. I'm hoping the fog burns off by the time we race. We run two sides of the river, so it should be a beautiful course.

Today Missy played an amazing soccer game - she stood on her head - the score would have been crazy if she had an off goalie day. Josh played a double header for baseball - he was a tad on edge as Don's parents are here, and he wants to show Don's Dad how great he is at pitching. He did awesome - got angry when his team lost focus, but managed to battle back.

Tomorrow we are hanging out as a family (oh, dang, I miss him!!!).

This AM was HIIT and ST for me. This PM I went for a run. I had to cut my run short because my stomach started burning. It was weird - it wouldn't go away even though I started walking. It started getting worse, so I headed back home. I was afraid I am going to be sick in the middle of the road emoticon Not all runs can go smoothly, huh?

I am off to my DDs best friend's wedding party. They needed 12 people for a group rate, so the bride's Mom and I are going. It should be fun, painting with wine, wine tasting at a local winery and then dinner out. I wish the weather wasn't so darned nice though as I think I would rather be out sailing. Mom got her test results. What the Dr expected, fibromyalgia. Sheesh. She did not need this on top of her other health issues. My poor Mom:(
Walked 4 times today, 1.5 miles each time. And I did bikram yoga (hot) for 90 minutes. I feel like a limp noodle right now.

The quilt top is done. I now have a week to get it layered and pinned together. Then quilt it and then put the binding on. I am about 5 days behind schedule. Really glad I took vacation this week.

I did mow the lawn weds so I did get some exercise this week. Hubby had some teeth pulled so I mowed the yard for him. Well most of it. It was hot and I started to feel like I was going to throw up so I stopped. I have one huge hollyhock plant in the backyard. They haven't bloomed in a few years. I sure hope the one that survived is the deep purple one. We use to have ones from very pale pink almost white to deep purple.

Today, I sat on my keister for most of the day. Left home around 9:30 to pick up Mom for her Dr. appt. It took an hour and 15 to get to Mom's then 1.5 hours to get to the Dr. I am done with being in a car for a while!! Test results tomorrow so keep fingers crossed for good news.

Hahaha Carrie emoticon – About 5 minutes ago I was telling my mother how hungry I’ve been this week and it is probably due to increase in mileage. I can’t quit this hunger. emoticon Good Luck with running in the evening – I am a PM runner, and although I prefer it, I understand the frustration of changing your habitual time.
CSTREAM – Balance is the main reason I do yoga, followed by flexibility and stretching.

It was National Running Day yesterday and for that I ran 5 miles. Today it will be upper/core, or if my right side feels better – a HIIT session.

Hi all!

I'm excited to be running consistently longer distances, but it's making me hungry CONSTANTLY. Some days I feel like I can't stop eating!

My new job will challenge me to make the time to run - it looks like I may have to do more evening runs, which is going to be a huge change for me. It's very difficult for me to get myself motivated to get out there in the evening, I much prefer morning runs.

Had a great run today!! Woot, woot:) Yoga is helping so far as my leg did not feel tight as soon as it used to. Phew.

Tatercat, I have a lack of balance as well but I am working on it with yoga.

Judi - Thank you for the information. I usually tend to slow down a lot when I decide to go longer, but I still get tired and need a walking break. I usually walk for a minute to catch my breath and relax my legs, and then start again. During 6 miles I take about 3 walking breaks.

Yesterday I did yoga and core work. I seriously lack balance emoticon Is this common among runners, or am I missing a gene somewhere? emoticon

Janet, to run the whole distance, just slow down. Don't worry about being too slow, as after you can run the distance then you can start to go faster. Distance first, then speed!

Doris, I hope you are feeling better, and enjoyed your rest day.

I got in a run this morning. We've had a nice string of back to back great days! All two of them. It's been a tough year weather-wise, so the nice days are sure appreciated.

Oh gosh, CSTREAM that sounds like a tough diet to follow until you get used to it. Make sure that you are getting in all the calories that your body requires because not eating too much can be catastrophic. Hang in there girl!

Started June on a great running foot emoticon – I ran (and walked a bit too emoticon ) 6.15 miles on Sunday. My pace was a tad better than my usual pace on longer distances so I am quite happy about that. Yesterday did upper and core.
I have a few more weeks of my 10K program and after that is finished, I am thinking of concentrating on improving my runs - I would like to run the whole 10K nonstop. Any suggestions/advice will be greatly appreciated.

I have also found a recipe for graham crackers......I shall make them later this week. They look good in the picture.... Its weird, but I am actually having a hard time eating enough calories. I seem to eat quite a bit of food but I am under by almost 500 calories still for today. I guess that is a good problem to have:)

Doris, I'm glad you have a plan in place, and have found a recipe you can use for bread. That would be very hard to replace in our house.

CSTREAM sorry to hear about your diagnosis, but at least you know what is going on and how to handle it from here. I agree, bread is very hard to give up. I found a flaxseed bread recipe in 2009 and have stuck with it since.

Hi team. I was diagnosed recently with insulin resistance. My blood sugar and insulin levels are all normal but my body does not process the sugar properly, just stores it as fat instead. So, I have had to totally change my diet. I can no longer eat grains of any kind, and nothing with added sugars. Limit sugary fruits to occasionally (berries, watermelon, etc), no corn, peas or legumes. So, what's left? I am following a mostly paleo diet with some substitutions as I am not supposed to have sugar. I found the most amazing bread recipe, even DH loved it! Wouldn't make a sandwich out of it as its dense but it makes great toast! No grains in it with just a touch of honey. I will definitely make it again. Phew. I do love bread. That has been the hardest thing to give up so far. Well, chocolate too. But, gotta do what you gotta do.
