Holy crudmuffins, I had a TON of posts to catch up on! I did quite a bit of skimming.

Trish ~ Yeah, the hubby's in one of the football drafts where the guys all pick real players, form their own "fantasy" team, and then earn points throughout the season based on how each player does. I don't mind football, but the draft is incredibly boring.

Mike ~ I really hope the interview went well!

Kirsten ~ My jaw dropped when you explained everything that's going on school-wise. Wow.....that IS stressful.....but I'm glad everything is working out and that you have the green light to attend the classes you want.

I've been trying to stay dry here.....lots of flooding going on downtown. Luckily, the hubby and I live on the top of a hill, so we're nice and safe.

Trish--I don't know what's going on with your hubby, as I've been out of the loop for a while. But please know he's in my prayers, sweetie! I'm waiting for good news along with everyone else!

We got a break from the rain too and if I hadn't been starving after class and eaten, I would be out running! Hopefully it will hold off a couple hours. I don't think running right after eating chili is such a good idea.........

Kirsten, Other than 1 of 3 professors, I am the oldest. :-( Professors are sure young these days! Glad to hear you get to start classes as normal. Has to be frustrating! I give you kudos, I had no clue what you and your Dean were talking about, lol.

Trish, Good to hear the kidlets have great teachers! Sending many thoughts your way for all of your family! I don't know how you do it! I am having a time keeping up with kids, their school, mine, soccer and the house!

Mike, You have the interview nailed!

Beth, I SO need a cut/color! It would help me to not look so much older than the 'kids' I am going to school with, lol!

Carrie, I would love to tell some parents 'where to go', lol!

Helene, Have a great race! You have trained for it, now rock it!

Deej, A party at the park sounds great! Give the gov't hell, they sure do it to us!

Stream, Drizzly here today but still hope to get outside, too!

Hopefully I can stay more in touch with y'all Rookies! I have been reading daily but never seem to find time to type. School is going pretty good, today is only the 3rd day but I am not behind yet, lol!!! ST has been pretty good but finding time to run has been scarce. I got 3.6 in Tues., hope to do something later today and have a 5K on Sat. The following Sat. is my first 1/2, petrified, lol. I have done 13 miles once (many 8, 9's and an 11) and ghosted so I figure I can at least finish!

Have a great day!

Tracy

HAPPY MORNING ROOKS!

Helene, I'm so excited for you having your 1st race! It will always be special :) lots of good plans out there; google Hal Higdon, Jeff Galloway, go to Runner's World & check out the "running coach" link.... build up your endurance gradually & you'll rock it! No pressure with a first full... finishing is the goal :) ...so I'm told :)

Kirsten, the adult interaction sounds great :) I'd have loved the chat with the Psych Dean. Very cool to have her in your corner. What's up with all the chaos within College Admin in getting ANYTHING done timely; see it everywhere here too! Every (bar none) college student I've talked to recently (& in my own experience) issues w/ something whether classes, finance dept, & so on. No one in the know knows anything! Take advantage of a break girly :) HUGS!

Tracy, I'd have loved to have taken more classes in Sports Science, Exercise Physio, etc. Go for it!!

Trish, So grateful for only one more freeze & the positive prognosis & praying the same for Don!!!

Christy, nice workout!!

Nera, hope the fabric therapy was therapeutic! LOL the only fabric therapy I get involves a sheet (NO BOBBY, I'm NOT talking popcorn although that is therapeutic now that I think abt it), I'm talkin' SLEEP!)

AnnieOfBob, love it that you and the Bob man keep each other motivated :) NICE trail run! So good you're on the mend!

Beth, NICE run... keep it up...

Carrie, rest my lil' music teacher :) my boys would love to hang with you girl! Especially our youngest who's a 24/7 music fanatic!

Mike, good luck with the interview! Prayers up!!

Mel, LOVE Third Day :) VERY excited for you!! Keep on keepin' on w/ the streak!

Judi, cry?? :( Some of my most cherished runs have been those when I was out early enough to see the sun rising! Sorry for the session drops. I looked into attending one but after just signing up for another monthly account w/d, trying to be fiscally responsible & not sure if I should commit just now.... not ruling it out though.. I know I'd enjoy it when (& if) I have time to jump in. Oh yeah, & more on "Skype" soon...

AnneMommy, keep me posted on Doc n Therapy; I'm sure getting the wee ones out to drive kiddos to school's a pain & can see why home schooling might be preferred by one like you who can handle it (that was never me) lol Will you have another with their license soon?

Doris, dodge that clay and/or sling it back with gusto :) nice TM run!

Britt, so sorry for your loss :( we lost a friend (son of my in-law's life long neighbors) to a stroke over the weekend. Never easy but celebrating a life well lived is a good experience!

HI YA MacDude!!

Jennie, don't give up on the idea of going back to school :) I sometimes wish I had but I'm in a good place so likely won't. You're still very young in my mind :) I'd definitely be the eldest Freshman of the group LOL

60s & overcast here all week; fall in the air totally!! Low to mid 70s for weekend & sunny low 80s next week will be more seasonable. Oldest DGS turns 7 on Saturday, we'll celebrate with a party at the park w/ fam & all his school friends. His 1st flag football game is early Sat morn & couple hours later his lil' bro, 3 yr old DGS, has his 1st soccer game; he's a fierce to be reckoned with when it comes to any sport... lol now if he'll just let someone else have the ball we'll be good....

Love y'all.... more when I'm able. 15 hrs yesterday & up early to get back at it today. Filing Amendments w/ the Federal Court..... oh joy!

emoticon

Good morning, all!

Mike - good luck with the interview. I'm thinking of you!

Trish - Thank you for the updates. I think of you and your family often. I'm sending good thoughts your way!

Kirsten - We always used the term "Non-Traditional Students" for students of a certain age. I hope the issues get worked out soon!

This morning is a ST workout... Bring on those sore muscles. Tonight is Parent Orientation. Hooray. Since I don't have a classroom (music teacher), I basically get to stand around and tell parents where to go.

Have a super day!

Hi Rookies -

I am doing good - I have a job interview tomorrow - Its in the fitness field - Selling Exercise equipment - I have already had 1 interview a this is the second interview - some Telephone shadowing to see how my phone skills are. I am very hopeful - includes benefits - which would be great - heading into winter my contracting goes down - will still be able to do part time.

I had a good run today speed work and then rode the spin bike for 12 miles - 6 mile run.

Hey everyone!

Just a spot for me...except to say that Christy is AMAZING:);)

Kidlets had their first Tae Kwon Do class of the year, sent Master and Mrs Smith an e-mail letting them know what was going on. Walked into the Dojang, and Master Smith stopped class to come over and give me a HUGE hug....and chat about Don. He left the kidlets sitting on the floor waiting for instructions....man, those people have such HUGE hearts!!! Love them!!!!!

Tomorrow we find out how the treatments have been working. A CT scan of Don's body was done today, we are hoping for no mass...but less of a mass is ok, as long as there is a "this is what we are going to do" attached to that news.

Love you guys!

Christy, no red hat? That's egregious!!

Jennie - sorry, I didn't answer your question. I'm going back to university after *ahem* some time off. I've got most of a psychology degree and I'm using that as a springboard into nursing. I'm all set to do one last year in psych, but I can't register for any of my courses until the computer knows I have the pre-requisites, and that process has been held up.... rePEATedly. sigh.

Tracy, take OVER a YMCA? Cool! How's it going so far? Are there lots of kids your age? ;o)

Anneofsneezies - how are you feeling today? I love how you guys go have popcorn and then race back here to post it! YOU ROCK!!! (p.s. remember the ONE thing about student life - not the drinking - that was super fun? Yep. Being home sporadically during the day with my dh while my kids are at school all day.... ;o) It's grand!

Nera, now I know what to knit you for Christmas - a sweater with a emoticon on it! I'm sorry to hear your son is down in the dumps (and that he hasn't done the app! grrrr...).

Beth, I really hope you have a better nights' sleep tonight. Bet that workout will help! Good for you for gettin'er done!

Doris, you too. Sorry it was slow. Raining and cold huh? Ick!

Suez, why are you waterlogged?

There, now I feel a bit more caught up. Yeah, still no transfers posted BUT I went to a lovely get-together for 'mature students' and I feel muuuuuuuuch better. Partly because I had a chance to hang out with other people in similar boats (which are much more interesting boats than the 'shiny kids' are in, by the way!) with similar problems

AND

partly because I had a chance to chat with

the dean of psychology

who, after a lively discussion about the physiology of food consumption as it relates to brain chemistry/addiction behaviour, the evolution of agrarian societies and the wacky bit about the shape of alcohol molecules being EXACTLY like those of the neurotransmitter GABA.... agreed that I probably won't need to take first year psych again and should probably get full credit for my upper years' work. AND the fact that she took my phone number with the promise that she'll look at it in the morning. Along with that, permission to attend all of my chosen classes right away so I won't miss anything.

emoticon

Ahhhhhhhhhhsome!
And now, back to my regularly scheduled life.

Yesterday I started back at Anytime Fitness--I plan to go at least 3 times a week to get some weight-training in. Walked 45 minutes on the treadmill, then did 30 minutes with the weight machines. I had all good intentions of walking outside again this evening, but didn't sleep worth a damn last night, so when I got home from work, I sat down in the recliner and CRASHED! But that's OK--I'll be back at the gym tomorrow after school and if I needed a one-day rest then I just did. Sure won't hurt anything! Hope everyone has a great evening. I'll pop in again tomorrow!

P.S.--We need a "Red Hat" emoticon!

Trish good news on the health front. Also is physio Canadian for chiropractor, regular doctor? LOL!!!! I do feel like something isn't tracking right.

Work issue was settled. Wow young people don't realize if you don't show up for work or call and say you will be an hour late then never show up you might get fired. This coworker was on the way out but got shown the door even earlier due to two days in a row being late or not showing up. Now my job changes and for awhile I do two jobs. Plus two phone calls took up over an hour of my afternoon and I still have to work on the projects those calls generated. If I don't screw this up I have real job security. LOL!!!!

Talked to my son and first day of school went well. Last night he seemed down but today was in a much better mood. Still hasn't done the boy scout scholarship application. Arrrgh!!!!
I do miss him but I still talk to him almost everyday. Not sure if that will keep up or as time goes by that will change. I miss his quirky sense of humor. We both had similiar personalites so when we weren't trying to kill each other we laughed alot.

Now I have to go do some fabric therapy to help ease the stress of the day.

Hi guys! Thanks for all the "feeling better" wishes! And I do! Took some night time cold meds last night, took some tylenol this a.m. and started to feel much better by the late morning. Yay! Not sure if it was auto immune related or a 24 or 12 hour bug but who cares...it seems gone!
I had a tough time getting motivated for my run after my early mornings and long work day. Just wanted to lay on the couch but I made myself move (cause Bobby was moving :)) So we headed out for a trail run. Oh my...muddy, slippery and hilly...ups and downs. But fun! I wore the wrong shoes though. Shouldn't have worn my light weight ones...ankles are not happy! Did a total of 50 minutes of running...40 on trails and 10 on the road. Too fun!
Beth-great job on getting out there! I didn't eat that well today either. Oh well, tomorrow is another day right?
Melodie-yay on the streak! You are doing awesome!
Kirsten-really? They still haven't got the transcripts transferred? I hope they can get this resolved soon. You have been waiting long enough.
Trish-Woohoo! This is awesome news! Celebrating here!
Sprouts-get the to the doc NOW!
Britt-how are you and your hubby doing? It is so hard to lose someone but it helps when they have lived a good long life! My sympathies.
Ready for a glass of wine. May be it will make my ankles stop hurting :)

I love your good news this morning! Big smiles!!!

Kirsten, I had a good cry on my bike about ten days ago, and have felt better ever since. Hope your day goes better today, and really (fingers crossed) hope your credits transfer.

I just got back in from a run, with my hill workout - three hills this morning, and it felt great. Just as I got to the top of the hill on the third time, the sun peaked over the horizon. Magical! It's gonna be a good day.

Beth - get out there and do something - walk if you need to, but GO!

good morn ing. It's early.2 little ones are eating breakfast.at 8:15. UNHEARD of. UGH!(I have to wake them to drive others to school..seriously makes me reconsider homeschooling where we'd be just getting started and babies would be sleeping.)

Trish-good news on the cancer!!! Prayers going up for cancer free!!! A high school friend of mine just had breast cancer tx/surgery and they think they got itall!!!! Praise God! Hope that quad heals quickly and well for you. And seeing that Josh and his friend turned back to give hugs gave me tears. I got hugs from my boys yesterday ,too..well, 2 of them. :) And our 3rd grader walked Gracie into class today since I had little ones and Daniel was soaked thru when he woke up. No time to change him.

Beth-get in gear,Girl!!!! consider this your lovin' pointy boot, okay??? I got out for a 2 mile walk with kids in stroller. Hammy and lower back didn't like it. calling doc today.

Can't remember anything else. Oh! Kirsten- emoticon Hope the run helped clear the emotions..and those credits better transfer!!!
Hello to everyone else! I'm going to try to get on here more often(like once per day) and I really need to clean up my eating some more.

Today was fun...kids got ME up with a "happy first day of school Mom!". I laughed then got up and made breaky. Hit the school about 15 minutes early because they were so excited - we have limited teacher strike action happening here, so no recess, and no admin for teachers, so we likely won't have the initial meetings this year.

Got to the school, and Miss headed towards where her classroom was last year. I looked up at her, and there were 5 boys surrounding her...dang, I gotta keep a better eye on her...DON!!!!!! Can you bring the gun?????? LOL, kidding, she is in grade 5, hormones for her are moving, but the boys are likely not for a wee bit.

Josh was in his class when I got to his area, his best buddy Daxton looked back and saw his parents, so Joshy did as well, and both of them ran to the door to give us a kiss...gotta love that:)

Work was silly busy, quad is NOT playing nice. But, my oncologist wants one more freeze dry, and then nothing....I know you are not in remission until you have 2+ years under your belt, but they are pretty confident we have this one in the bag! BEST news!!!!

Tomorrow we start.....tae kwon do is after school, then we don't have a free day until June!!!

Carrie, hope your gym date went well:);)

Beth, I'm ok:)

Britt, I'm so sorry about your loss....I agree, when you are suffering, it is the best things....I pray you guys LOVE celebrating her life! LOL, on our way to family camp, I pointed out the changing trees to the kidlets. I LOVE fall in Canada!!!!!! OK, fall in the Okanagan, because we have 25 - 30 degree weather, and the turning trees:);)

Mike, hey buddy! Hope you are having a fantastic year:)

Tracy, good luck with school!!! Enjoy the fact that you are one of the most dedicated in the bunch!!! I went back @ 33:):) Very cool about the YMCA!!! You will do really well with it given your story:)

Melodie, I know, I still tap try to wriggle my nose, and wish for them to go back at the beginning of each year, but it doesn't work...darn it!!! VERY cool about the rose and concert ticks!!!!! Give him a big 'ol squishy!!!!

Kirsten, girlfriend, your run is the BEST place to cry!!! Nobody ever notices!!! HUGS:) LOL about Melodie's sign...LOVE it!!!!

Doris, Hugs!!!!

Jennie, ok, is your hubby in the weird reality draft thingy? OK, I am so not a football person - give me a hockey game (yes, I AM CANADIAN...LOL). One of my coworkers told me about this draft thing, and I wanted to bolt away!!! LOL:)

Bobby, nice with the popcorn start...I read about the end on FB, so I send healing vibes to your house:):)

Anne, hope you feel better soon sweetie:)

Nera, have a physio check out your hip....sounds like you may have a tad tilted pelvis. I get that, and end up having to run with a water bottle to balance me (aka, H2C this year).

Anyhow, must fly...hope you guys have a fantastic Wednesday:);)

Hugs,
Trish

Pottery class tonight. So much fun to fling clay around!!! Now, if the person sitting across from me would stop throwing his clay at me all would be well. DD signed us up for the class last year. She stopped going after a few months, while I, who protested that it wasn't for me, have been going for a year now. I LOVE it:)

Can I get one of those Danger signs to hang around my neck? I have a co-worker that I need to bonk on the head with it. LOL!!!

Went for a run outside. I seem to have an odd lurchy stride when I try to run a bit faster. Like a car with on flat tire. Not sure what is going on but was trying to do short distances at a faster pace then slow down again. Every time I got going what I think of as faster felt like I had an uneven gait. Anyone experienced anything like that?

Now off to hit the shower. Well after I hit the hubby so to speak. LOL!!!

Hi guys! Did read back but am feeling "yucky". Was fine this morning for popcorn :) But as the day progressed I started feeling not so great. Sore throat, a little sneezing and all over aches. Crossing my fingers it is just a weird day for my auto immune health issues (who would have thunk I wished for my symptoms to arise). If it is related to that then it should be gone in a day or so. But I usually don't have a sore throat or sneeze. But you never know!
Gonna go get stuff ready for work tomorrow...which by the way will be a long one...ugh!
Night all!

Bobby, I actually have no classes scheduled this week. They wanted a shorter week so they could work on their marketing for next week, but that meant all four of my classes were in their way, or cancelled because of the Labour Day holiday. I am pretty disappointed about it, as all the people I have made connections with, have to go to someone else's class. I want Carol back by the way! She's so much fun, and has a really great sense of humour.

Meldoie ~ LOVE the idea for a danger sign....I think I'd have to wear mine 99% of the time while at work!

Tracy ~ Yay for going back to school! Sports science sounds like an interesting choice......if I had the money or the chance to go back in time, how different things would be.....

Kirsten ~ What happened? (Kinda new here.....) Is there a question about yor credits transferring? I hope it all works out, and that you can sleep well tonight!

Britt ~ I love that you remain positive and focused and choose to celebrate her life! Such a great attitude!

Today is dreary and icky. And it is an off day workout wise. So after work, I'll probably head home, do some laundry, and help the hubby clean/prepare for his football draft, which will be held at our house this Friday. Yippee. (Please note the sarcasm.)

Jennie: WTG☺
Brittany: hang tough girl. You will get through this time.
Bobby: I would like to ride a bike, but I don’t have one. Oh well. There is always Christmas….
Kirsten: I have sent good, transfer thoughts about your credits to you.
Suzette: I hope you enjoy your peak at fall later. Our leaves haven’t started changing yet, they are a little late this year….wonder if that means anything?
Trish: My “baby” turned 28 yesterday and I still think of her as my little girl. Guess some things never change.
Carrie: If you have a recipe for zucchini bread, use that except use green tomatoes instead of the squash. It is quite yummy☺

emoticon Tracy! I thought I was the oldest freshman at 40 - till I met a 75 year old guy at orientation. Good luck! What are you taking?

Melodie - that's fantastic!

Trish, good luck to you and Don and hope the kiddos enjoy their first day back.

Hi and hugs everyone else! My day has been pretty much shot to h3LL - nothing to do but sit around and wait - which isn't my style! I've talked to everyone I can talk to and done all there is to do. So, I'm going for a run and hopefully hit the gym before its time to pick up the kids. Ugh - I miss them so much. omg - it's recess and I can actually SEE my dd playing at the school veggie patch. Wow!

Super emotional today since I was awake ALL night - last time I remember seeing was 3:30 and the next was 6am. I'm a mess today. Betcha' I cry on my run! ugh. Better pack some tissues in the belt!

Suezette - Small world, my brother and his wife live in Johnson City. He teaches and coaches at Science Hill. I actually had a guy here in Fairborn recognize the school when I was wearing one of the tshirts my brother gave me.

Not only are kids going back to school today, mine went back a couple weeks ago, but SO DO I!!!! Wish me luck. I think I will be the oldest freshman in the bunch, lol.
