1. Do tasks - I went to work - that's enough for today! 10.5 hrs

2. Make music - not today actually

3. Get active - on my feet all day, but nothing officially 'active'

4. Read - oh, yes! I'm loving this book - and am passing it onto another keen reader afterwards

5. Reflect - When I have a long shift at work (and 10.5 hrs is long enough for me!) I need to be kind to myself and not schedule other activities around it - it's too much

2. Make music - Yup, I listened to Damien Rice on CD

3. Get active - I did 5 mins Standing Like a Tree this morning and have walked about a bit - I'll have my 10,000 steps by tea-time, and I've done 12 flights of stairs

4. Read - I finished my current library book. Next I'm going to read "Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine" by Gail Honeyman.

5. Reflect - I've enjoyed baking today - I made pastry which I haven't done for ages. It was comforting and nice. I have had a nice day.

1. Do tasks - I did my volunteering job, got a bit of shopping, and a bit of batch cooking

2. Make music - I listened to the radio, and enjoyed the music playing in a "mystic" shop I went into (all incense, bells, dream-catchers and crystals etc)

3. Get active - I've walked, and did some stretches this morning - apart from that, nothing special today (I've had a quiet week apart from my long walk/hike on Tuesday)

4. Read - the new book I'm reading isn't very well written really, but it's a nice story (non-fiction)

1. Do tasks - I'm drying a load of laundry - so that could mean ironing later! My floors need cleaning...........

2. Make music - thanks to this check-list, I did spend some time practising my recorder - and enjoyed it!

3. Get active - I've nothing planned apart from some back stretches today - and walking to and from places. Maybe I'll get inspired to do more later?

4. Read - I'm ditching the Margaret Atwood book - I skimmed the last chapter and decided I didn't want to use my time reading it. It's not an easy read, and although there's some great stuff in it (especially about fat/thin and self-image) - I decided to move on to something easier! I've got a book the library assistant recommended "A Street Cat Named Bob" by James Bowen.

5. Reflect - I need to be more on-the-ball with my budget - I'm short again at the end of this month - this only happens because I fail to set out my plan at the beginning of the month!

1. Do tasks - I did my Cornish homework and sent it to my teacher! I put some toggles on my cardigan. I got some shopping done.

2. Make music - started the day with 1960's music on the local radio - it uplifted me! I had a recorder lesson. I'm still listening to the radio now, at the end of my day!

3. Get active - I walked up to the top of the apartment block (6 floors) a couple of times today, just to get my stair-climbing goals met. Living in a flat can mean I am prone to 'bungalow syndrome' and never climbing stairs unless I make a conscious effort!

4. Read - I read for an hour in bed this morning

5. Reflect - I feel better when I get things done - small jobs can give me a sense of achievement which help me to feel less over-whelmed.

1. Do tasks - Saturday morning catch-up with house work routine, walk the dogs, be backup for anything needed during corn harvest day, prepare my gear for canoeing tomorrow on World Rivers Day

2. Make music - a morning of silence (hello silence my old friend), and afternoon of satellite radio music

3. Get active - walk the dogs, indoor row, tai chi, skateboard - I skateboard for balance, noting fancy, just up and down the basement for about 5 minutes after rowing and tai chi

4. Read - The Brothers Karamazov - this is going to take a while because it is a very long book and already in the first pages, I am rereading sections - I like to linger and feel the atmosphere of a book

5. Reflect - My first thought is gratitude that my DH and kids and myself are all healthy and doing well, more gratitude as I think about my freedom that comes with good health and life circumstances - when and where I was born (freedom for women compared to past history), opportunity to work hard and have time and resources to do fun things too. Life is good !!

1. Do tasks - I've stripped my bed and turned the mattress - I've got clean sheets tonight :)

2. Make music - yes, smooth radio music at work this evening

3. Get active - I've done at least 7 km walking today, and also revisited some standing-like-a-tree exercises that I used to do

4. Read - I read about the garden I visited this morning, whilst I enjoyed a coffee. I learn a little each time I visit - about how the garden was created, the changes that have taken place, and the names of the plants and trees there. It's also great local history. I'm looking forward to visiting again soon.

5. Reflect - I must challenge my manager about giving me a shift that ends at 22.00 then starts me again at 07.30 - we're supposed to have an 11 hr break between shifts.

1. Do tasks - nothing apart from washing up today.

2. Make music - I listened to the radio - I even sent a message to the presenter to tell her how much I enjoyed it - and got a shout-out on local radio!

3. Get active - I did 16 mins of hill-running repeats this morning and in the afternoon I went for a lovely circular walk of about 90 mins - about 6 km. Not a long walk, but tough terrain; hilly and rocky.

4. Read - I watched a film this evening, instead of reading. But I also read the whole of a short e-book I'd downloaded which was a collection of kind of prose poems.

5. Reflect - getting out for a walk like that is something I need to do more regularly - it does my soul good, and I meet people.

Thursday

1. Do tasks - I cleaned out my fridge (and packed my lunch and dinner for tomorrow at work)

2. Make music - I had the opportunity to play music at work today - classical music, for a change!

3. Get active - I went for a 30 min run after work - despite the mizzly rain

4. Read - I read for 15 mins with my coffee this morning. I've started a new book by Margaret Atwell that is harder to read: "Lady Oracle" - I don't understand all of the references, but I'll persevere and improve my brain! Reading something daily from the New Scientist is proving to be interesting too. Live & learn! I read a story to the person I was supporting today - a chapter from a book by David Walliums called 'The Worlds Worst Teachers!"

5. Reflect -

Ah, I'm half-way through at the moment - where Winston is meeting regularly with Julia, and he's just starting to link up with O'Brien.

There is a big foreword in the copy I have which explains all the edits - but I'm afraid I didn't read it carefully. Interesting that he wrote different versions for USA. It just amazes me how much vision he had!

Wednesday

1. Do tasks - just work today - didn't do any real housework or anything

2. Make music - had the radio on a bit first thing today, and there was some cool music at work

3. Get active - I did over 15,000 steps, and then a 35 min resistance band workout this evening

4. Read - off to bed now - to read!

5. Reflect - I just wrote a very reflective blog - that'll do!

1. Do tasks - finish up laundry, one more load plus dry, fold, put away - go to bed on time tonight and start a streak of that, make a PT appointment, organize one kitchen drawer
2. Make music - satellite radio - classical and baroque
3. Get active - rowing, hiking
4. Read - no plans yet
5. Reflect - having a good day so far but feeling less strong about eating like I should for getting to goal weight, the kids left food behind and I don't want to waste it - strawberries, bananas, ricotta - nutritious food, just don't need to eat too much of it in one day and I don't usually have that, lately I have been about eating fresh fruit on the farm and have apples, pears, the end of the blackberries and the start of the concord grapes. Funny how just a bit of a change from the usual upsets my eating rhythm but also maybe because now that the visiting kids are gone, I am missing them. Plus Ollie went back with DS and DIL too.

Gill, where are you in 1984? The book I read, the foreword said George Orwell edited it and published a slightly different version for release in North America. He was a very meticulous writer in what he wanted to say and how he wanted to say it.

Donna, so sweet your DH is making his mum's cake and you are helping him. 92 - wow !!
