I'm getting used to beans. I snubbed my nose at them for years. I was happy to discover cannelloni beans. I like them much better than black or kidney beans.

I made a wonderful batch of white bean and kale soup over the weekend and froze a few containers for lunches.

I need to improve my diary intake.

Thank you, Kellie. Useful info. My hubby had to drop dairy for digestive reasons and I hadn't appreciated other sources of calcium such as beans.

Great article and suggestions. Work at calcium everyday due to being low in bone density due to genetics, and a small frame.

These are good tips for making sure we are getting enough calcium. I have a bone density problem caused by the meds I took for 5 years after breast cancer surgery. My bones are thinning and I am at risk for fractures. I try to be very careful and I track calcium every day including the supplement I take.

Your calcium needs may vary based on your age or risk level.

Check out the 31 Days to Stronger Bones article with a link to a month of tips for strong bones.....

Some tips include:

Limit caffeine
Get three servings of dairy each day (or dairy alternatives)
Aim for 2-3 strength training sessions each week
Give beans a chance
Eat vitamin C along with calcium
Schedule a bone mineral density test (if you are over 50 and post menopausal)
Jumping jacks or jump rope... Just two minutes of jumping each day offers major benefits.
Maximize your magnesium...which is abundant in healthy foods like whole grains, legumes, nuts and leafy greens.

How will you watch your dairy today?

Alternate/Bonus challenge - Up your intensity. Add an extra set if you are strength training or try one set with a slightly heavier weight if you are ready.

If cardio is on your agenda, Increase the intensity a bit or add an extra 10 minutes.

Keep your body responding by adding a little intensity to your usual workout.
