perfect- this is upper body day= do them in my workout and love the way they feel..

GAYEMC- love that you adapt- bad wrists make it hard to lift- so I am glad you have found a way to get your exercise in without hurting yourself- I also use isometrics when I do movements without weights- just by contracting the muscle groups you are working you can get a great burn with not a lot of reps- sometimes helps to work with a trainer until you get the idea of which muscle groups to contract... just a thought

Challenge-A lot of people start their healthy make over journey with a focus on healthy eating and cardio. Most people, myself included, shy away from strength training. In my mind, the weights were for Arnold Schwarzenegger-esque people committed to lifting for hours a day. Also, don't you need to be able to pick up a car with one hand to utilize that area of the gym? I finally, with knowledge gleaned from Sparkpeople articles, incorporated a body weight only strength routine, and then I graduated to using added weight. Today's challenge is the triceps dip. I still don't use weight for this exercise because it is so effective. Start by sitting in a chair. Then slide your bum off, and use your hands to hold yourself on the chair. This is the start position. At this point, your legs can be straight out, or you can have bent knees. Then lower your bum almost to the floor, then return to start. Try 3 sets of 10 reps, and remember, weight training is for EVERYONE who is physically able.
