I would suggest checking out some of the SP articles on nutrition and fitness. The usual rule of thumb is to maintain weight, do cardio for 30 minutes a day, three times a week. To lose weight, up that to five times a week, and maybe an extra fifteen minutes to each workout.
Like walking - 10,000 steps a day will maintain; to lose, you need to walk 15,000 or more daily.
Strength training will build muscle which will weigh more but will increase your metabolism, which helps you lose more weight.
Be sure to change up your routine as our bodies become acclimated and put on the brakes, which can be very frustrating.
Find something you enjoy and will stick with - try new things to keep from becoming bored with it. For some, having an accountability buddy helps for motivation.

I agree that a weight loss of 6 pounds is unrealistic and would be impossible to achieve in a healthy way. My suggestion would be to track everything you eat since nutrition is about 80% of the weight loss equation. It doesn't really matter what type of workouts you do as long as you exercise. Find a cardio activity that you love and aim to do that 3-5 times a week. Best of luck!

The recommended weekly weight loss is between one and two pounds a week. Six pounds is the most safely recommended to lose for a month.
Have you checked with your doctor about a weight loss plan?

My goal for the next few weeks is to lose about 6 pounds a week. Any suggestions on workouts that would help me reach my goal? I'm also looking for buddies to help me stay on track. Thanks!
