What helps me is to actually take the time to eat your food slowly. I tended to think about my next meal contantly and when it was time for it, I'd gobble it all down without registering anything about it! Sitting down, chewing slowly and not doing anything else besides enjoying your meal can really help with the feeling of being hungry all the time.

Also, try eating protein and/or some fat with your carbs. Fruit is digested in about 30 minutes, leaving you hungry quite quickly after eating it. Have it with some PB or some other protein to make it last a little longer.

One thing that seems to help me is to have a large salad for lunch, without all of the fattening dressing, etc. It fills me up and keeps me going through the afternoon.

I agree with SUPPORTHARMONY, for me eating 3 small snacks inbetween meals keeps me from being hungry. Some yogurt midmorning, fruits in the afternoon, and something around 8:30 satisfies my hunger without going over my caloric intake.

Thank you all for your replies and advice,

It's strange that I can eat my new foods all day long but when I resort back to my old foods, I feel satisfied, it's almost as if the body wants what it is used to, not matter how unhealthy it is. I know I need to be steadfast because changing my body's desires/routine is really difficult!

It's really hard to ignore hunger and avoid the kitchen when you work from home... *sigh*

With me when I'm so hungry I find I need a little more protein. Try 1/2 cup cottage cheese. Ginny

If you're used to eating large portions, it will take a little while for your body to adjust to smaller ones. Make sure you're getting enough nutrients. If you're eating nutrient-dense foods, you'll feel satisfied longer - especially if you have some good fats (raw nuts, for example) with your meal. And eat throughout the day. Six times per day is a great rule (every 2 or 3 hours). Stuff yourself with lots of raw veggies and you won't pack in too many calories but will pack in lots of vitamins, minerals and fiber. You can do it!

More exercise can do it. But watch that you're getting enough fiber and good fats. Eat a little protein with what your eating will help things not get absorbed to fast.

Through God anything is possible. Thank you, Lord, for helping me and all the ones who need your help.

I think it might go in spurts. I'm having the same problem right now -- I'm adjusting my diet again to keep closer to what my dr has recommended, and it may be just the getting used to it. I'll go weeks eating within the calorie guidelines and feel fine, and then go through a period when I'm hungry between meals.

The other factor might have to do with whether you're exercising more and are more active than you've been in the past. It might be that you will want to look at when you're eating, as well as what.

Hi everyone,

I've been eating healthier foods everyday ( slowly modifying my diet because some habits are really hard to break ) but I'm constantly hungry.

Is this my body adjusting? What could this mean?
