Wow, people are astounding.
Well, I will have hope that if we keep pushing back, eventually they will stop.

Urgh. I find that so rude and annoying. I'd for sure take that up at PTO/PTA and also at school board. I don't think a lot of parent know what is all going on. I was more aware because I volunteered a lot at the school then started working at the school. Each school was different and some better than others. There are a few that have major religious activities going on and they pass out religious fliers sent home.

So, this is off subject. I was at planned parenthood a few months ago. Another lady and I were waiting to go inside since the door was locked about it was time for our appointment. Then this guy drives on the main street and shouts "F... You!" and put his middle finger up. I said, wow, I thought I'd see something like that in the south not here. The other lady said, I know. When we got inside we told them what was going on and it made us feel really uncomfortable. She said oh, I bet she was going that to the protestors. We went to the window and saw two very religious people out there protesting with sign on them calling us sinners and killers. I was shocked to see them. Then it made sense the guy driving by was directing that to them and not use two ladies. We didn't feel so bad once we found out what it was all about.

In our city we have a transgender convention, it's pretty big and has been going on for decades. I think almost 50 years. We use to get religious protestors there and they would turn on their hate and propaganda right in the park where kids play. A lot of people argued with them eventually they stopped and now we don't get them protesting any more.

They were back again, this time it was religious propaganda from an anti-abortion organization (really, I don't want my 2nd grader hearing about this stuff yet, geez).
My husband called the police this time because he told her to stay away from our kids and she went off on him and told him to go back where he came from (trust me, he'd love to lol)... the police officer who responded and took the reports (apparently two other families also called to report her) and responded back that she's doing the lord's work and that's her freedom as an american. :-/

And, I'm really not shocked to hear about the songs. There are a lot of religious overtones from teachers and administrators in this area. Some from our district, others that I went to uni with who are now teaching in public schools and they'd say things like "I'm printing out this scripture and putting it on my kids' desks" etc. which they'd obviously only do if they were comfortable that that was a norm in their school, right?
I'm sure you're right that the parents don't know...

I was shocked at one of the public schools I use to work at would sing religious songs for their concerts. They would also have Wednesday morning musings and over the speaker they would talk about a topic then play a Christian music song. I was appalled by this. I was so happy that my son didn't go to this school or that he didn't have that principal. I expressed my concern for this. I really don't think parents know that is going on in that school.

Every year, it's the same thing. Some lady hits up the bus stop and pushes prayer books and religious chotchkies on the kids.
ONLY the elementary school aged kids, though.
I asked a high schooler and a my jr high kid (same bus stop, just different times) if they ever see her, and they said, not since they were in elementary school.

Seriously, target the littlest, so they can cluelessly take that stuff home without being able to understand it. And, with the way people feel about religion, if their parents or other caregivers aren't the same religion, don't you think it's likely that they'll get in trouble through no fault or understanding of their own?
Sheesh.

Also, let's face it, I just don't want strangers coming up and giving my kids stuff. Seriously, what kind of lesson is that teaching them?

Multiple parents have called into the school every year to inform the principle and ask if anything can be done, since it's just a bus stop and not actually on school grounds, so, it's not just us.

I just like the hypocrisy that their faith is strong enough to try to teach little kids to take stuff from strangers, but, the second a parent shows up and approaches them, they leave without saying anything. (Oh, she brought her husband with her today, that was new.)
