Maya, any idiot can weather a crisis. It's the day to day living that wears you out.

Nope -- back on the junk again and hating it. Hating myself, hating my life. Not that that does much good, you know. But there it is.

After illness, I usually crave nutritous food only, for awhile.
Hmmmm....maybe I should hang out with pre-schoolers more often (the little germ factories).

Have a happy, healthy day!

Yes! The last time I had a cold, my best friend said she knew how sick I was when I said I didn't want any chocolate.

The last time I had a hangover, the reset button got pressed big time.

That was about 3 yrs ago, but I remember it vividly. I barfed all weekend and then for weeks I had very little interest in eating. I lost weight during that time, too. My friend Peggy called it my "Sh*t-faced" diet, speaking of not eating crap.

Last summer when I had food poisoning, my stomach was queasy and it slowed down my cravings for a while. I was losing weight then, too. It definitely helps, but I don't recommend getting hung over or ill. Very unpleasant.

My DH went to the doctor and was told his ailment is bronchitis, and he's getting better with the aid of antibiotics. He's not eating much, PENGUIN, so I think he must be experiencing the same thing you are. Enjoy it while it lasts. It can get you on a roll.

Hi Penguin,

Are you feeling better now and still off the junk? I'd like to find my reset button... to date, that has never happened to me! I too hope you keep it that way.

Very interesting. So you're saying that being dreadfully ill with pneumonia is less stressful than just everyday living?

I can see where that could really help get over the cravings for junk food. No, can't say I've had any similar experiences, other than the one time when I had a nasty cold/chest infection thing that dragged on for weeks and weeks - that one made my taste buds go completely berserk, and I could NOT down a sip of cola without gagging (cola was and is my go-to-junk-drink).

Of course, the cold went away and so did the distaste for cola ...

Hope your taste buds stay changed, though - it'd be nice not to have to battle cravings! :)

Hope you feel better soon!

Cheers,
Maya

...through no particular action of my own. This illness (I've been down with pneumonia for a week) has reset my cravings for junk. I've still had a few cookies (Monday after doctor visit) but for the most part, it's like that affliction has disappeared. High fever for two days led to eating very little last weekend at all.

I've known that I was junk-eating for stress purposes, and this feels like more evidence.

Anyone ever have a similar experience via illness?

Edited: Rats. I thought I was putting this in the Stop Eating Crap forum.
