Yes... they're great.

I don't know how to phrase this so I don't sound like an idiot but here it is. I can see that Colin really needs male attention (I guess that's why groups like Big Brothers were formed) and he doesn't get it from his own father. Last time he saw his Dad was just before Christmas for a half-hour. The time before that was early October.

But my friend will sit down and talk with my son and listen to what he's saying. It means so much to my son. I'm glad my friend enjoys hanging out with Colin, he's a cool kid, and that he's willing to hang out with him.

I looked at my schedule this week and said "crap"! My shift for Saturday was 8am to 4:30pm... ending a half-hour after my listed availability. I'm usually off by 1 or 2pm on the weekend.

It meant that my kids were going to be sitting home alone until dinner time with nothing much to do except aggravate each other. So I called a friend of mine and asked if him and his partner could watch my son for a few hours in the afternoon so the kids didn't kill each other before I got home.

He said that was fine and Colin went over there by bus while I was at work. I was worried that Colin would be an imposition... I'm guessing he wasn't since he came home 4 hours after I got off work LOL.

He had a great time on the visit and came home with a Nerf-like gun that he's been shooting "zombies" with for the past 20 minutes. Apparently the zombie portal is our linen closet door LOL.

It's so nice to have friends that will help out on the rougher days!
