I think the best thing I did in 2010 was start this process. I started Eating Clean, caring about myself, and exercising more often and I lost 20 pounds in 4 months. I've kept it up, not without some bumps in the road, but I think starting was the hardest part.

CASSIE, I know it took a lot of work and courage to get yourself to the emotional place and physical condition where the breast reduction could be successfully completed. How nice to have a large piece of unfinished business over and done. Congrats on that AND your new-found love of early morning exercise!

And congrats to you, too, BLUEGECKO, for the new job, the steady weight loss progress and for walking all of those miles since September, rain or shine (in Southern California). I'm glad your house didn't slide off a cliff, like those I saw in a newscast today.

As far as accomplishments go, I think your continuing to maintain your 60-lb weight loss is absolutely THE TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN, ELECTRALYTE!
Congrats! Your new way of eating and the "walking mileage" with your dog, no doubt, has a lot to do with your success!

How exciting to THINK ABOUT WHAT WE ALL MIGHT BE SAYING this time next year!

As for me, I had lost 30 lbs this year by early August. I've struggled to lose 9 more since then. I'm thrilled with it though, as one of my major accomplishments of 2010.

The accomplishment I'm proudest of THIS YEAR, though, is my growing feeling of confidence that I can also keep the weight off. I am trusting myself, and making changes in the way I "think". I can now recognize and replace "sabotaging" thoughts I once used, as excuses to overeat. This year, I have gotten in the habit of planning ahead for my meals and snacks (making sure healthy choices are available) and I have stopped my evening overeating habit.

All in all, since some health concerns of mine surfaced, back in 2002, I'm down 94 lbs. Doctors back then were threatening me with spinal surgery, because of fractures in two of my vertebrae, which caused shooting pains every few minutes down my right leg (spondelolysis is the medical term).

My right hip aches a little when I overuse certain movements because the fractures are still there. The weight loss and the dancing and other exercise (especially pilates) I've done consistently since early 2003 have relieved the pressure enough to stop the shooting pains. No surgery. WooHoo! I had never been one to exercise, until my health demanded it.

This year most of the really exciting things have happened since September. I have gotten a new job, I have joined SparkPeople, I have walked over 100 miles!, and I have made steady progress to my goal weight.

Top of the list has got to be the breast reduction for me. Also how I've developed a craving for exercise. I am already dreaming of my early morning walk, run, birds, trees 5am sessions.

Thanks for this space to reflect Boo. Its been quite a year.

I'll be back with more and can't wait.to hear from others.

Have you seen the SparkPeople Message Board called "Reflections 2010--Great Accomplishments"?

It's very uplifting to read about things people have faced this year and how they coped. It's also an opportunity to share what you have done in 2010 that has made you feel good about yourself.

Here's a link to it.

After you read what others have done, we'd love it, if you would come back and share some of your proud 2010 moments, turning points or achievements with us.
