Thanks, Jazzie. When I can unpack, and find the camera cord, I'll post some pictures. Our move to the permanent location has been delayed, but should happen within the month. I was in a FUNK about the delay, but got perspective from thinking about the oil spill - rather, oil gusher.

The team has grown so much! Hello new members and old friends. We left TX April 24th and took our time, staying over in Hot Springs, AR (couples bath and massages), KY (mom's cooking), OHIO (the 3 C's), Niagara Falls, CA (2 nights emoticon ), and Saratoga Springs, NY, before landing in Halfmoon.

Can't say much about healthy eating :(, but I made a food post in "Stop Eating Crap." Allan gained 1 1/2 lbs. on the trip and I stayed the same.

I've joined the YMCA because they have a pool.

I haven't read much here since the move, but do know how well some of you have been doing (Barbara Boo).

Just wanted to say HI to the team.

I've heard about geocaching too, and wanted to try and find the caches in my area. But a GPS is needed, and I don't have any.

I keep hearing about geocaching! I wanna try it sometime too.

I got up at the asscrack of dawn today to walk the dog (usually SO does it, but he had to leave early). It was kind of nice - I usually do the afternoon walk - to see the city just waking up, the fog settling in, hear the early birds. Nice start to my day :)

ANBENNER, I was just reading your blog about all the walking you do, and I left you a comment about geocaching. I just now found an SP article about it.

Also, I know you're having some computer issues right now, but for future reference, here's a link explaining the kindle for pc application that they let you download and use, for free, just so they can sell you kindle books.

I'm IN for your idea of highlighting the f-bombs etc. If we can get one other person to do it, all we have to do is agree on a book.

Then, we can create THREE sets of identical highlighting, the number they need, in order to include them in their research.

How amusing? You know how I love your evil mind, JAZZ!

Did not know about the tracking.

Of course, unless I can get a grip on my tendency to highlight EVERYTHING, they will be reprinting the whole book. My books look like I painted them yellow.
emoticon

I don't have an actual Kindle. I did download their free application, Kindle for PCs. That way, I can buy the Kindle books, and have them sent to my computer within seconds. And I have learned to highlight them.

In glancing at this link, it looks like people are not identified and that they keep only the highlights that are marked by 3 or more people. I'll have to read more about it. It might be useful, like when we buy used books with highlighting and notes in them.

Jazzie -- You can highlight in a Kindle? That's kind of... weird. But interesting.
I wouldn't highlight in an actual book, but I guess an electronic book wouldn't make a difference.
But you're saying that they track what everyone who has a Kindle highlights? That's a little.... weird.

BOO, as awesome as you are, I can only imagine your daughters and grandchildren are also incredibly awesome :) Absolutely nothing wrong with not having kids and being a spinster! That's my sister! Although, she's only 32, so though that's what she says now, you never know. She's also a crazy dog lady :)

I am pleased with the overall results of our parenting. I like my daughters as people. They're independent, not overly troubled, smart, good sense of humor, compassionate, pushy with ME at times (want to start elder care too early).
emoticon
Their opportunity will come soon enough. I intend to handle my own business as long as possible.

My 3 grandchildren that 2 of the girls raised are exceptional. Very well-adjusted. The oldest will graduate college next year.

Even the grand dog is great. My youngest daughter Sarah(I have a recent photo of her in my gallery) is 43. She has chosen to remain unmarried and to have puppies instead of babies. It's a reasonable choice and I support it. She says she's too vain to live with others and calls herself a spinster. Also, the men she likes are the player types who are credit risks. She says she can't afford them, and she's right.

Her cocker spaniel was a real flibberty-gibbit as a puppy. And she has raised him into a nice well-behaved guy.

I am reminded that I promised to put some kitty pictures in my gallery. I'll get on it.

LALA, I feel ya there! I have 7 nieces and nephs, plus a handful of honorary familial kids (kids of my good friends). I'm content to play with them, hold them, and coo at them, but then I send 'em home :) I do think that someday I may want a couple of my own, but getting a dog makes me realize that no, that's further out on the horizon than I was feeling!!

BOO, I know that feeling of little regret. But, if you had done things any differently, who knows how things would have turned out? :) At least you managed to raise them as a responsible adult, unlike many of the early 20-something moms I know of these days...

Since I was practically a baby myself when I gave birth (at agees 20, 22 and 24), the work involved in parenting hit me hard. The 3 little girls were cute, and I enjoyed and loved them like I do pets.

However, my regrets about doing things backward, children first and school later, are still with me. I've been reconnecting with classmates from high school, since we have a 50-yr (OMFSM) reunion coming in August. The careers of some who couldn't compete with my high school GPA give me pause, not that I would want to trade my family for what might have been. I like my life as it is now.

I just think, in retrospect, my timing sucked. Of course, there are always decisions to regret. Lots of trade-offs, just like with the food thing.

I am content with pets and nieces and nephews. At least the kids I can enjoy, spoil, then send back home. I get all of the fun and none of the attitude.

Okay, yes, I do realize that I'm missing a very deep, special, indescribable bond with some little human, but I try not to think about that too much...

My nephew and his wife just had their third child, third girl! I'm amazed how different the first two are from each other, can't imagine the direction the third will go.

I love new babies, but this time, she's in Wisconsin and I'm in California, so no holding the baby and soaking up that new-baby smell. Sigh...

I raised 3 things (daughters), and they, too, had really distinct personalities. Same genes, same nurture. Yet such different little people. Amazing to me, too. DH and I were both "only" children and had no idea what to expect from parenting.

You are certainly welcome to come over and clean up his rice and milk any time!

Seriously both of my Things have very distinct personalities. W has been feisty and bombastic since about 24 weeks gestation, always a brute of a guy, beefy and enegetic but with a smile that would win over anyone. T has always been more meditative and mellow. After we brought him home I was a little nervous that Tibetan monks might show up at the door and take him off to the Himalayas for training. He still hangs back and gets the lay of the land before he commits.

I took a cute picture of them this morning - maybe I'll post it.

Episode 2:
At dinner, I pointed out to Thing 2 that he had a grain of rice on his head. His response was to grab fistfuls of rice and dump that on his head too. Sticky long grain basmati. It was a bear to clean up.

I decided to let the kids have their way with the snack table at church - Thing 1 (4.5yo) went for the M&Ms and jellybeans, while Thing 2 (2yo) favored the baked goods.

Now Thing 2 is not so interested in a nap and Thing 1 has a bellyache. Thing 2 also decided his sippy cup was boring, reached across the table to Thing 1's open cup, then proceeded to pour the milk into his lap - staring fascinated at the puddle on the chair and checking out the drips making an interesting noise on the floor.

The chair and floor are pretty clean now. The question is, how long do I let Thing 2 run around in wet shirt and shorts? It doesn't seem to be bothering him much, so I doubt he's getting the point.

I didn't google the history of colored eggs on Easter, though I'd like to. Since my last post, I've been through everything in my garage. Junkbusters picks up Tuesday.

I couldn't do this clearing a little at a time over the past few months.

While I was resting, with a Heineken light and some cheese and crackers, I thought of my last Easter egg hunt. I was a speech therapist in central Florida. I lived in a little trailer with a Florida room built on, on Siesta Key 1/2 mile from Crescent beach (Sarasota). My trailer was part of a circle of little cabins, long since replaced by high rise condos.

I was asleep in the Florida room and heard something right outside my window. I raised up. "Oh, it's just the Easter bunny" and laid back down. A few minutes later I sat up again. There he was, hiding eggs around the circle, a 6' bunny.

Around noon, when everyone was up, we hunted for the eggs. The winner got a bottle of Jack Daniels. That was a fun day!

I enjoy colored eggs. It's kind of a symbol to me of everything getting colorful after the greyness of winter.

They must actually symbolize something religious. I haven't cluttered my mind with whatever that is, since I suspect it will be another tidbit that I won't believe.

MABONES, keep us posted on what you discover at your bead shop. It sounds like an interesting place. I have a stash of beads and enjoy making jewelry, too. The Annual Bead and Button Show is held in Milwaukee, 30 minutes from where I live, and I've taken numerous classes there.

SWIFTY, the closet in the Dead Easter Bunny story sounds cool. I would love a closet with stairs going to the attic inside. WooHoo! Mystery.

I was trying to get my 4yo excited for an egg hunt on Sunday, and said "T guess who's coming on Sunday!" and DH said "Jesus Christ!" which is a good joke at our house as I don't believe in the resurrection. Thus Easter would be a bit lame if it weren't for the egg hunt. I'm not sure what exactly DH believes ... he went to Catholic church/Sunday school etc until he was 13 or 14 and his inner scientist started asking a lot of questions and then he told his parents why he wasn't interested in going anymore.

Anyway I have two dozen eggs to dye today, 12 hard-boiled and 12 raw to blow out and hang on the Easter Egg Tree at our church. I also have plastic eggs with jelly beans and robin eggs in them to hide, and some musical shaker eggs too. So it should be a good hunt for our boys.

On the over 50 message board, there's a man who plays the games all the time, and his page is all about Wicca. That's egalitarian - my fav. new word.

I didn't google this, I still have these headlines on my home page (apologizing for what I want to share). If an ad opens, just click on the x so you can read the story emoticon www.tinyurl.com/yfaqxa9

Tomorrow, if it doesn't rain, I will be outside weeding my strawberry beds. If it does rain, the local bead shop is opening on Sunday so all of the ladies who aren't doing Easter can come and chat and bead all afternoon. And munch, too, so I will need to bring some healthy snacks to share if I end up going.

The woman who owns the little shop may be an atheist or may be Wiccan. I get hints of it, but I don't know her well enough to bring that up in conversation.

For Easter we are having our good friends over to watch Python's Life of Brian. I have acquired a small basket which I will fill with pagan eggs in a variety of flavors.

Mare, that is funny! Is Ruthie's a restaurant? Sorry you won't get to go there.

Thanks for the caution about NY's huddle, Boo. That is such a huge team, I don't expect anything of it - too large.

The Capital District is the smaller, local one. It's that friendly logo I couldn't resist. It's really not active, except for some chat that is mainly two people.

Egalitarian, that's right. That's the impression I got. If I had checked out the leader's other team, for LENT, I would have stayed away altogether. But I didn't notice the LENT team until after I joined Capital District.

Wyldmoonwoman, where are you?

I know the desire- the wish to have local peeps to meet with is strong... but I can only take so much
'God willing', before I start to itch all over my body. Allergy! Tee hee.
No plans for the bunny to be visiting. Some chat of meeting at Ruthie's for a feast... but no family gathering planned. Since I just got the temp Census job, we didn't know if I would be available. Of course, last night I learned I am free until Monday... sigh.

Hey, SWIFTY, I just checked the huddle for the NY Spark Team. It's all..."Blessed Friday"..."Don't Forget To Pray"...etc
emoticon
Is that the one, or is it the Capital District Team? Their huddle is empty. But they have that great friendly-looking logo with the hands (hands all appear to be one color, though, with a slightly-tan one hidden in the shadows on the bottom).

Are you thinking "egalitarian"?

This is my home base. I didn't join the 2010 WIN, still working on losing weight from my house, not my body. Allan was sent to Japan for a month, and I log on more now.

My issue: I joined the team for my new location. I love the logo - problem is, no welcome yet. I'm getting a Heathen complex. I know it's Holy Week, Good Friday, Easter weekend. I knew the leader is Catholic, but checked out her other team, and she's VERY religious.

Still, for the geographical team, I'm hoping she's equananimous and ecumenical enough to allow this heathen in. I got a red line for one of these words; hope you get the idea.

Did I misread the team logo? Now I'm wondering about another meaning - oh well, no time for this!

I came across an SP member who lives where we are going, who is also on this team - Separation of C&W, but she hasn't been active for a long time: Wyldmoonwoman.

Anyway, back to the cleanout.

Anyone having family celebrations for Easter, despite the religiosity of the occasion? Ham?

I checked the word, and it's spelled equanimous, but it is not the word I was looking for.

Have you all seen the nutrition page for Panera Bread? They have the best ever nutrition calculator... You can put in the menu item you want, then click on and off the ingredients you don't want, but you can also substitute back in other items that you would rather have. So you can change the sauce or the bread to find a number you can live with.

I am impressed.

Be sure to see the movie, "MINE", if you get an opportunity. You'll cry, but you'll feel good, too. It's fabulous.

My friends and I did cry together when we saw it. But, we were all glad that we went. The popcorn was good, except that it left me hungry for the rest of the day.

The Spark main 'what's wrong?' thread said that it was a failure related to different sites... so if you got access through your phone one time, it didn't post to Firefox or anywhere else later. I got a post today saying that the problem is 90% fixed....
No big deal using only Firefox, fyi.

I think MARE makes a good point, PENGUIN. Hang in there.

I went to my piano class tonight, and the teacher wasn't there. He messed up on the dates. So, I'll be practicing the same songs for another week. Drats! I was looking forward to moving on to something new. Such is life.
emoticon

I'll have to content myself with the new dance routine Seniorgee is starting to learn. I'll be at home tomorrow, shaking my body down to the ground, practicing.

I've looked up the nutrition info and have planned to have popcorn as lunch on Saturday. It won't be as satisfying as a real meal, though it will be fun. I'll survive until dinner.

I bribed a girlfriend to go a certain movie with me, since she's afraid of blubbering all the way through it. She can't stand to see an animal suffer, and the movie is about animals that were rescued after Hurricane Katrina. I promised her we'd have popcorn (she's a popcorn NUT) and that I wouldn't let her cry alone.
emoticon emoticon emoticon Is this popcorn?

The associate producer of the movie, a documentary called "Mine", will be at the theater. I want to meet her, since she's the granddaughter of one of my friends on the dance team.

The movie was already shown on TV on "Independent Lens", and I saw the last part of it. I cried my eyes out when little Bandit and the old dude who owned him were reunited. Very touching. If you get a chance to see it, it's great.

It's just amazing to see how much healing takes place when a pet returns to someone who has lost everything in a disaster.

Thanks, M.D. It's a nonprofit in the process of reorganizing, with a new exec and the end of a funding cycle approaching. Our board approved an overhaul a month ago, and this is the first board meeting since we were snowed in for that fateful Blizzard Meeting.

Draft documents that were never intended for anyone beyond staff use just do not convey the professionalism and confidence that we need right now.

Which leads me to believe I should either get promoted or look for a new job.

OMG Penguin I have that ill feeling in the pit of my stomach for you. I am so glad I don't work in the financial/business/corporate sector.

I am trying to think of elegant ways for you to manage this tomorrow. Perhaps start out with explaining that the material they received was not in a final draft, and that you apologize for any time they spent reviewing it. (implying, goodness I hope we didn't waste too much of your time, but I'd avoid using the word "waste") Then use it as a starting point to explain why the final is an improvement? use the differences to sell the final?

I am limited here in that I know just about no details about the document, or what the notations said that I assume you might have left out of the final. Do you get to contribute information to superiors that would be considered in yearly reviews?

Bottom line: try to avoid saying anything negative about anyone else, firmly maintain your position on the higher ground with elegance and grace, and give a kick-butt presentation that shows you really know what you are talking about.

Graaaggghhh!

Three, count them, THREE people in my office made screwups today resulting in our board getting draft internal information that my e.d. specifically did not want to go to them. This affects me in at least two ways: E.D. asked me to pinch hit for him tomorrow as staff lead on the board call. And my stuff was at the top of that Excel document that was sent to the board, with notations to my bosses.

I don't have the authority to ream anyone out about this, though my reaction to my supervisor (one of the screweruppers) probably said enough. As did the E.D.'s call to her.

I need a promotion. And some good ways to approach the board about this tomorrow without distancing myself from the team but also without implicating myself as part of the ridiculousness of the screwup. Couldn't the guy who hit send have (a) looked at it and said to himself that it wasn't ready for prime time, or (b) listened to my supervisor when she said don't send it yet????? Couldn't the financial idiot have done the thing that he was paid to do to begin with (don't answer that). My supervisor is blaming herself, and rightly so, but it's because she's having to do HIS job, too.

E.D. needs to fire the dead weight.

Happy Anniversary to Penguin and CONGRATS on the 2 year Sparkversary to Barbara!! emoticon

I am so proud of this weekend so far - BF and I went for a nice long walk around the neighborhood (which is nice and hilly!) for an hour yesterday. We just got back from a 90 minute bike ride, with dinner in the middle, this evening.

Normally my weekends are far more sedentary - it's the nice weather that's helping me get out there I think! :) Tomorrow we will hopefully go for a jog with another friend. I'm shooting for 3 for 3!

Edited to add:
Oh yeah, AAAAAAA-PERSON! to you all as well! emoticon
