It's great to have you back. Take a look at the challenge Jenn just posted... it might be what you were looking for.... a little fun and support. We'd love to have you along.

Its been a while since I have been on Spark People, my fathers passing took a toll on me, I gave up dieting but not the gym, so I have maintained my loss.

I am back in action now. Got my motivation back and will be back on track entering nutrition and exercise. Glad to be back, happy holidays all!

First off, I am so sorry to hear about your father. That has to be hard and it is hard to get back in the swing of things. I think you probably just need to take one day at a time. Set goals for each day or each week and do what you can to meet them. Try to get all your water in for a week, or try to work out for so many minutes. You will get back into your good habits soon. Grief does weird things to us and if you try to rush too much, it may back fire on you. Take time to grieve and know that it is normal. Let me know if you need to talk.

I haven't been around in close to a month due to the death of my father. He passed away from colon cancer 3 weeks ago at the age of 65. With all the stuff going on leading up to his death, namely his quick decline and my need to be with him in the weeks prior to his death and the fact that I was gone and picked up the "I Don't really care about my diet" attitude, things went downhill for me, although not as bad as I imagined. When my dad passed on the 13th of October, I was at 270 pounds, since then I waiver between 273 and 271, so I didn't put on a bunch of weight, thanks in part to me going to the gym to get things out of my mind, but my dietary intake took a hit.

So, other than not giving in to the emotional eating bug, what are some good ideas or practices to get me back on track?
