I don't like being this heavy either i don't like the fact I can not wear all of my clothes in my closet. I am going to keep exercising for better health also so that i can wear all of my clothes. Plus exercising makes me feel better.

I don't like being this heavy. I don't like the numbers, I don't like the way my health was heading and it is really up to me so this is my motivation. The pic of me at goal weight is a big motivator. I have lots of motivation.

All sorts of motivation, much of which I should have heeded long ago. My father, and seemingly many of his male relatives in his generation died early (in their 50s) from assorted illnesses, a number of them based on their weight and general health. My dad never met his grandkids (althouth his death did hasten my wife's and my decision to have kids sooner than later :-) My grandfathers, and many of their relatives (male and female) have lived well into their 90s. I was 48 when I took control of my life again. Decided I wanted to give myself more of a chance to live to my grandparents' age than my dads.

That aside, the first 18+ years of my life were spent as extraordinarily healthy, fit, athletic, etc.. The 30 years after that were years of increasing (well yo-yo-ing, but always to new high) weight, increased number of medical issues, and decreasing health. In the past year, I've gotten rid of the obesity and every co-morbidity that goes with it (except for my type 2 diabetes, which I've had for too long for it to completely disappear, but it's completely controlled now). So like the age diffreence of the generations, I could choose between living the healthy life of my youth, or the unhealthy life of my recent few decades.

Not a hard choice. Quite the motivation.

Due to genetics, I have a 90% chance of having high blood pressure. I'm trying really, really hard to be the exception in my family.

What is your weight loss motivation? What keeps you going on this journey? There are days I get up and just want to give in but I think of the impact I have on my daughter. Not only do I need to be around for her for a long time, but I need to teach her the right way to do things. I am a role model for her and if I am eating junk, that is what she is going to eat. Had I been taught how to eat only until I was full and not use food to ease pain or emotions, I may not be in this situation (and no I am not blaming my parents, I know this is my fault, just saying I never knew better).

So what gives you that extra push to work harder?
