GMSHEVCHUK, I love that book. Isn't great?!?! I've used that plan before and it worked great. I like the work outs too. The only problem is I lost my partner and now can't find the motivation to do it on my own. I still cook many of the receipes in the book. My hubby even likes them. I love the Chicken Enchillada Soup. It's yummy. My problem isn't really cooking healthy it's the working out. I know once I get started it will get easier but it's the getting started that I dread. I can't wait to get back from this deployment and cook for myself. I don't have much of a choice out here on what to eat, I just do my best at picking out the healthiest selection. Are you doing the Body for Life workout?

I have been on countless types of diets in the past and I had the most success with the South Beach diet. I got into a car accident and gained it all back plus more when I started eating what my husband would make for us. (Hot dogs, frozen pizzas etc)

So now that I am back on track...I am doing my own modified version of the South Beach Diet. I am going to let myself start having only healthy carbs in a few weeks. Also, I am only going to eat as much carbs as I have protein on my plate. So if I have a chicken breast, I won't serve myself any more rice than I have chicken. Hope that makes sense. haha

I'm still eating the same things, just better versions of them! No more fast food (or at least just the healthy options offered at some places emoticon )

I've replaced all white foods with whole wheat options (Love the WW bread and Western Bagel alternative bagels...yum!) Brown rice instead of white. Low/non fat milk, cheese and sour cream.

You get the gist! I didn't want to change what I ate, because this isn't a diet, it's a lifestyle change. I just wanted to make better choices from healthier options. I'm finding the real key, at least for me, has been tracking the calories and watching portion sizes.

And the recipes on here are pretty awesome too!

Right now I'm just trying to watch my calorie intake. I am tracking everything I put in my mouth. I'm still fairly new at this and am trying to build up to starting each new habit. My first is tracking my calorie intake. I'm starting to get into this habit now. Next I want to try to start implementing the really yummy & healthy recipies I have found on here. Keep it up.

I am doing the Alternate Day Diet and it is working great for me. It is easy to do since I am a stay at home mom with 3 kids. I have never had better luck with any other program. Good Luck to everyone.

I'm going to try the meal plans here. In fact I am going grocery shopping this afternoon. I also use Saving Dinner for ideas for dinner.

WW, since I am always mentally counting points in my head. Can't seem to stop, and have no clue about the caloric value of anything.

I follow Eat to Live by Dr Joel Fuhrman. (He has recently written a new book set called Eat For Health, that I haven't purchased yet.) This is a lifestyle program where you give up all animal products, refined foods, added oil and added salt. I eat veggies (especially greens), beans, fruits, seeds and limited nuts. I lost a lot of weight on this plan a year ago and I've been stalled for a long time. I am now using the Nutrition Tracker to track my caloric intake and that's been very eye opening. The weight is starting to come off again!!

I have gotten rid of all the white bread, flour, rice, pasta, sugar, ect... Just using portion control. Also walking everyday, and doing strength training X3 week.

I follow the principles of "Eating for Life" by Bill Phillips. This is a great book with many fabulous recipes. It teaches you how to: keep your metabolism revved up be eating 6 small meals a day, balance carbs and protein in every meal, plan meals ahead, have a cheat day every week so as not to be deprived of favorite decadent foods, and many other things. It's easy to incorporate with SparkPeople because it has all the same principles and sets you up for a true lifestyle change rather than a diet.

I'm pretty much following the suggested meal plans. But I'm bummed because I went grocery shopping and printed out my meal plan and when I logged in today to track my foods, the meal plan was changed.

Aargh!

I am making my own meal plans based on recommended caloric intake, and the like found on the nutrition tracker. I've done weight watchers in the past and it has worked for me, but I need something a bit more flexible, as I am a mom and wife...So far so good. I am losing weight and I'm not hungry. I've actually had extra calories to eat at the end of the day! LOL!

Hello on Monday...In answer to meal plans, I am trying the South Beach Diet with my own moderation's for the second time. I did lose ten pounds the first time I tried it (over a year ago) but have been on several caloric vacations since and put the weight back on. Due to arthritis in the knee now, I am determined to lose it and keep it off. I weigh 156 and want to lose 10 to 15 pounds. By slow and steady watching what I eat, keeping a journal and not obsessing about food for pleasure, I am sure of success although it will be gradual. I cannot exercise through walking due to the knee pain so the progress is slow. It will happen and the food suggestions on line are helpful. Keep happy, this is one mantra for real success.!!!Dixie
