Thanks for the good wishes. I am quite excited to see my family.

CONGRATS on the weight loss. That is truly fantastic and inspirational.

Yes pool situation has been stressful and annoying. I am going to try to go to the gym at 8 tomorrow morning in hopes of getting some pool time.

Have a wonderful trip. I am sorry your mom is sick, and hope she gets better soon.

I am doing well. I have started back to school and it has been VERY hectic. So many changes, so many new kids, so many new staff, so many . . . . . . .

I am still making progress -- lost a pound this week - I ONLY have 5 more to lose to be down 100. I have cut back my pool time because I am at work all day, but I still have done pretty good with 2-3 most days. I too have missed you but have been a bit overwhelmed and am trying to cut back a little bit on my online time.

Hope you get in the pool - it is sad that it is always so crowded.

Have a truly blessed weekend.

Another week has gone by and STILL have not been able to get to the pool. I'm going tomorrow at 8 am to see if that makes a difference.

I won't be around much next week. i am heading to NYC to take care of my mom she has been really sick.

Hope you are doing well. I miss chatting with you. God bless

It's too bad that the pool is always full - I don't think I would swim if it was always crowded. I love that some days I have the entire pool to myself and even on a crowded day - July 3rd was really crowded - there are only about 15-20 people total and they rarely stay long.

No consistency here. Planning on heading to the gym today. The swimming pool has been packed anytime I go to the gym. I have been running and walking.

Great job on your consistency

I have continued to swim and am really pleased with the results. I hope you continue to feel better. Consistency matters and can help you to stay on track when it is a HABIT and you get used to doing it all the time, you WILL keep it up. I continue to keep you in my prayers.

Great job so far. I am finally feeling better. I was sick in the beginning of the week and then felt better the last couple of days. Today went for a quick working out before church. Now I am just working on some files. Hoping this week I can get better with my consistency.

Have you been swimming?

I did get my rest, but then didn't have my email for almost a week. Check out my blog about my fitness assessment (title is: Fitness Assessment Results). It describes how I have been doing and the results of my SUMMER OF ME. I think you will get a kick out of it - I know I did when I got those results.

hope you were able to get some rest. Sorry I haven't been around. That cold that I was fighting finally caught up with me after spending the weekend at a seminar where the kept the room temperature at FIFTY DEGREES! I had to cancel patients yesterday and today I can barely keep my head up.

your day sounds fantastic and so does ED!

Went to the gym and ran a little over three miles. The pool was really crowded so I didn't get to go in. Tomorrow my goal is to run outdoors. This weekend I'm at a seminar both days so I know I won't get to do any workouts.

I have been eating a lot of pasta during these past few days, usually a sign for me that I am fighting a cold. Today I feel better just have too many things to catch up on.

My day was pretty good. I had a meeting for our staff development council (have been a member for a long time). It went well and it is always a nice place to meet with others who actually care about their professional development. Then went to the pool - was afraid I wouldn't be able to swim, but only had to wait about half an hour for the storms and lightening to stop. Got a GREAT workout in and came home to a luscious dinner. Ed fixed pork chops coated in finely chopped nuts and Brussels sprouts with nuts and a strawberry, blueberry smoothie with protein powder. All were tasty and they hit the spot after my long workout. I hope you feel better. Until you get your strength and health back, you may have bouts of weakness or illness. Do you take probiotics? I have been taking them and they really seem to help with my overall health - people are even commenting on the fact that my voice has returned and I haven't been hoarse for nearly 6 months now. I have also avoided colds, etc. Normally I am sick for more than half the year and this year I wasn't really sick at all - had a few brief episodes but nothing that even turned into a week or more of illness.

You have a great day - you do know that there is nothing magic about swimming or playing in the pool - it is a matter of doing whatever YOU enjoy and then doing it often. That is what I have done, found what I love to do and do a LOT of it OFTEN. LOL

that is truly incredible and really impressive. Keep up the great work. We went to the pool today but it was super busy so I just stayed on the treadmill and jogged/ran for three miles. Hopefully tomorrow I can get a swim in.

Off to work I go. Have a great day.

You are quite welcome - I have really been working it this summer and focus is entirely on me and my health - lost 5 pounds this week and body fat % is down a bit more. I am really excited to get this project closer and closer to my final goals - I hit the 90 pound mark and am now VERY SURE I can make it to 100 by my b-day.

You know, you need to stop saying, or implying that "JUST walking the dog" doesn't REALLY count. Change the way you say that. Try this on for size. "I managed to walk the dog even though I felt rundown and was bogged down with work, and I just didn't feel like doing much." Then CELEBRATE that you did SOMETHING and that you are doing what you can with where you are RIGHT THIS VERY MOMENT. THAT matters. THAT IS something to celebrate and be kind enough to appreciate how hard it is to do even that little bit right now. Love yourself that much. (HUGS)

I have been really fantastic - had some pretty awesome NSVs this week and actually lost 2 pounds too. I discovered that from size 26/28W and 28/30W I can fit into both a top and shorts that are size 18/20W - Discovered it by accident and when I say fit into them, I don't mean the kind of fit into that is really "if I lay on the bed, suck in my stomach, and don't breathe all day, I can fit into them" kind of fit, but rather, the "I can move around, look great - actually SAID aloud - 'Dang girl, you look AWESOME' - have a bit of breathing room, and when I took them off, there were not grooves in my skin that said how TIGHT they really were" way of fitting. It has now been 16 days since I have needed my insulin and my blood sugars are doing great. SO . . . THIS has been an AWESOME week.

This week has been a little wonky for me. I was on a great schedule Sunday through Wednesday but I was feeling really run down and then the last two days I have gotten bogged down with work and other commitments. Except for walking dog, I haven't done much of anything else these past two days.

How have you been?

My body has been screaming at me lately but I have listened. On Monday, I was so tired while i swam that i had that sensation of drowning and fell just off all afternoon. I realized later on that I just had not eaten enough food. Yesterday was better. Today I took off from swimming but did manage a run. I'm quite happy with my progress at this time.

Rest is really important and you sound like you are back on track today. I sometimes forget how important it is to take those days off when my body NEEDS them - and there is a difference between NEEDING a break/rest and being lazy. Don't forget that your body will tell you WHAT it needs. Keep up the good work.

I took Friday and Saturday off from the gym. My legs just felt exhausted so I just stuck to walking Maya. Went to the gym this morning before church. Ran 3.6 miles. Feeling good today. Hoping to get to go to the pool three times today and/or get 30 minutes of swimming in.

Rest is important - my 4th of July was restful. I did no serious exercise - meandering walk but nothing intense. MY body needed the day off and the pool was closed, so timing worked out well. Hope you feel better after your relaxed day.

I know!

No gym today for me. My legs feel dead and my body feels super tired. Took the dog for a 1.4 mile walk this morning and will walk her again this afternoon and try to get a total of 2.5 miles in on the day. No swimming. My body feels fatigued and I don't want to do.

Not only can't everyone spend as much time as I do at the pool, but after summer, I will be back to NORMAL 2-3 hours maximum and will also have to look into things for when swimming is NOT appealing due to winter weather (not much fun to go out with wet hair in the ice and snow) or due to some other reason.

In the meantime, I plan to really enjoy my time while I can.

That is fantastic and a gift that you can spend that much time at the pool. My time is so limited and i keep having to multi-task just to get everything in.

Just go back from a 1.1 mile walk with the dog. Going to work on a couple of reports then go to the gym with my husband. My legs are dead from yesterday so the goal is to run one mile and then swim for 8 minutes.

Congratulations on the birth of you "baby" even 2 1/2 years later it is still a blessing. It sounds like you are doing fantastic. Focus on HEALTH is a much healthier focus than focus on weight loss specifically.

Asked about my day - hmmmm I have promised myself this summer to focus exclusively on my health and lifestyle changes. I get up around 7-8 eat breakfast and then answer emails and make comments and replies on my teams, friends, and often total strangers' blogs and pages - especially when someone sounds like they need a HUG or a kind word. By the time I finish that, I get ready and go to the fitness center and spend the rest of my day at the pool (this is ONLY a summer project for me because I REALLY need to get totally serious and get healthy enough so that I will not have to start back on my insulin when summer is over). When I get to the fitness center, I eat my packed lunch and then go to the pool. After 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or even 7 hours, I shower, dress, eat my snack, call my son and let him know I am heading for home, and he fixes dinner so I can eat when I arrive. I then check emails again and usually blog, answer emails, etc. and then head for bed.

This is the first summer I have gotten so aggressive about getting healthier and it started almost by accident. I loved to "hang out" and play at the pool when I was growing up and all my life have enjoyed it. This is the first summer I have not had to travel for work and have no money for pleasure or even family trips, so I am working on ME. My goal is not a NUMBER, but an overall improvement in my health in a HUGE way. I started working on this last year but this year I am so close to seeing that 100 pounds lost NUMBER on the scales AND the promise of going off ALL of my medications - especially the insulin is a BIG deal too. Sorry - I was rambling a bit.

Glad to see there are a few of us still here. Sounds like some ups and downs in all our lives. I've been doing well since joining SP 5 years ago. Some of the time I'm very focused on my health and lifestyle, other times life is just to busy and I try my best to maintain where I am at while focusing on those other areas. I am currently 30 pounds down from my heaviest when I joined SP. I would like to lose about 20 more pounds. I was at my lightest over the winter, which was about 8 pounds less than what I weigh now, but I think I'm doing pretty well. And I also had my 2nd child during the past 5 years (almost 2.5 years ago), which brought a little weight gain on during that time. Good news is that at the end of my pregnancy, my weight was only a few pounds heavier than my heaviest non-pregnancy weight, which was my weight when I joined SP. Currently, I have recently started a new job and am busy getting my house ready to put on the market and hopefully sell it and move closer to my job later this summer or early fall. Not much time to focus on my weight loss, so I'm instead just focusing on eating healthy and being as active as possible, plus taking care of my body.

Glad to read everyone else's updates on here!! Take care everyone!

those few minute swimming kicked my butt. I was tuckered out and wound up taking a nap yesterday afternoon. today my muscles are super sore.

No pool today for me, went for a 15 minute walk with pup earlier, going to go for a 30 minute outdoor run and then walk the puppy tomorrow. What is your day like?

I am happy to be an inspiration. I think back to when we started and how hard it was for me to really stay focused especially as things kept getting in my way and my life - YOU were one of my inspirations and you really are one reason that I never QUIT even when I stopped coming around and posting or even tracking. THANK YOU.

My swimming has reaped some interesting results - My BMI is steadily dropping, my body fat percentage is less than 50% for the first time in years, AND I am no longer taking insulin on the days when I spend a really long time in the pool - after just a couple of days, my fasting numbers are pretty good and so are the evening readings - eating right and exercising enough to actually REALLY be gaining muscle instead of fat (did the math - my pounds of body fat and - even assuming the lowest possible percentage that would have given me a reading of ERROR - GREATER THAN 50% - has dropped at least 10.3 pounds in the same time the SCALES dropped 12.8 pounds - that means at least 80% of the weight I lost was FAT. I used 50% exactly as my previous number because it COULD have been that low but still not showed and exact number, but it could have been a lot higher too. Swimming ROCKS.

Glad so many are still here, and grateful that CHIRORENGO, you're in remission. I lost 30 pounds in my first two years here and have maintained for the three years since, so SparkPeople really worked for me. Slow and steady. I am training with my sister for an open water swim this summer. My start at SparkPeople happened at the same time as my husband moved out, so it hasn't been an ideal five years, but I am finally at peace with the end of my marriage, selling my house to finalize the divorce, and have just started seeing a new, wonderful man. I guess everything works out somehow.

A year ago I would have said he same thing - I was heavier than when I started - I reset my goals and put my NEW starting weight in and have now made really GREAT progress. I have lost about 80 pounds and really improved my health. Maybe this anniversary is the nudge you were looking for to put you on track - or maybe like me, you will wake up one morning in the future and decide that the time is right for YOU. Whatever, I am happy to see you still here - simply being here means that you have NOT given up.

Anastasia - this is PLAY - I actually did nearly 7 hours yesterday - it is NOT only swimming, but also socializing while I move about, a water aerobics class, and strength exercises too. I simply LOVE to be in the water, have a number of friends at the pool and generally love how I feel in the water. It is like I a light, young, and totally healthy again - with the best of all worlds all my experience and knowledge is still intact.

If this were for EXERCISE, I would be the first to acknowledge obsession, but sometimes I just relax and enjoy being in the water and I also end up my workouts by a trip to the therapy pool that relaxes me and leaves me completely serene. So, it is social, pleasure, relaxation, as well as exercise. LOL

You can do what you can and the more you take care and heal - the more you will feel like doing.

Oh yes, that is definitely my plan - I will probably spend 5-6 hours in the pool and will check on the possible yoga opportunities too.

that is fantastic. I'm not that great of a swimmer but it feels great to be in the water. I figure if I add a minute every few weeks I will get up there eventually.

Are you going to the gym today?

It sounds like you are really working out a lot even if it doesn't FEEL like enough to YOU - it really is a lot. Glad you weren't sore and your swimming tomorrow will feel good too - I won't tell you that I was swimming 1-3 miles a day for a while and then last week could not get to the gym will try swimming again today. In the meantime, I got to the pool yesterday and worked out but didn't swim - today laps and THEN other stuff.

That is motivating to hear. I'm not giving up either. I just got re-married a year and a half ago to a wonderful man who was by my side through out everything and keeps me motivated. Baby steps is how I'm trying to live life a little each day. I went to Gold's gym yesterday, they have this feature called cardio cinema where you can watch a movie on a big screen and do cardio. I walked/really light jogged for 65 minutes and watched an Adam Sandler movie and then got on a stationary bike for 40 minutes to see the rest of it! Felt fantastic. Not sore at all today. My goal today is to do light weights and swim laps for 6 minutes.

The challenges of cancer are major - the lack of energy may eventually leave as you are able to do a bit more and the more you do, the more you will be able to do. My stepmother is 90 and she does a water aerobics class 3 times a week - she loves it. She is dealing with fatigue and lack of energy too. She has leukemia and recently underwent chemo for it. She is not giving up and is a true hero to me.

So wonderful to see some activity on this team. You all started this wonderful journey together and it is inspiring to see how many of you have blossomed.

I'm still trying to lose weight. I had dropped 40 pounds and was at my weight goal. I am now in full remission from ovarian cancer and trying to maintain a healthy weight and juggle gettting back into a working routine. I am still active on SP and trying to get more active outside and in the gym - but I just don't have the stamina I used it. I love the idea of incorporating swimming and joined a gym with a swimming pool. My goal is to start small with 5 minute laps a couple of times a week in between my cardio.

Please keep the posts coming - have a wonderful day everyone.

Hi, it is good to see that there are some others who are still around.

It is nice and extremely thoughtful that we are being checked on after 5 years. For me, getting fit was a MAJOR challenge until I found my lovely POOL and began actually GOING again. Amazing how much better and exercise plan is when you actually DO it and don't just PLAN for it and then skip it more than you do. Swimming is FUN and THAT is the part that the pool provides for me - the fun that makes exercise less a chore than a blessing.

I have become active - more active after a LONG absence and it must have been my time THIS time because I have found it started to work even though I had a bit of a rocky start - my metabolism was so slow it was almost going in reverse and it took more than 2 months before I saw ANY loss at all - progress has been totally reasonable overall though.

Hello All & happy anniversary! I have made progress on my own with respects to food attitude, and now my biggest goal is to get and stay active to improve my fitness. While I have endocrine issues that has my weight up and down in a holding pattern, I still enjoy getting active. I am not as regular as I used to be on here but I thought it was awfully nice to have someone check on everyone here after 5 years and I thought I would post. Hope all members are doing well on their own paths to health. Cheers. LorraAnn77

I drifted away for a while - just checked in daily and spun the wheel and did nothing. About a year ago, I returned in force and have become VERY active - Oh, I have also dropped about 80 pounds in that time too. My health has improved and I have sent 27 others to join SP. Hope everything is going great with everyone else. My father passed away about 20 months ago after being bedridden for nearly 3 years and once I recovered from mourning I started to see progress again. I have seen a lot of improvement on my health and mobility as well as my weight. I am doing GREAT.
