It's been almost four years, now, and I've gained about thirty pounds since I joined SP. Go figure.

I'm here to make a change, to begin to believe in myself, to even, perhaps, love myself. :)

Join me? I'm determined!

Happy day, all!

I can hardly believe tomorrow is my 1 year anniv here on Spark. Its been an intereting year. I started out strong lost a great deal of weight and gained alot of it back and now a year later I am almost where I started from minus a few pounds. This year I vow to take things more seriously, since I have had a whole year to learn about myself.

It all works out in the end

Ifrodo it may be time to change things up. Take an extra day off, drop your calories for that day. 1500 cals seems pretty good though, maybe need to have one or two 1200 cal days and one 1800 calorie day.

Over the last two years I've had many times where even though I'm not doing anything different, I stop losing. The problem after all this time was that..I wasn't doing anything different. Your body is trying its HARDEST to figure out how to stop losing...happens to alot of us. You need to keep it constantly guessing !

sometimes i just want to quit being healthy and sleep in, I tried to hide my scale for a week, I couldn't stay away, even though i'm not losing weight, I've increased my activity so i can now run 2 miles in a row without stopping, i've been eating 1500 calories a day, I've woken up @ six everyday and either lifted weight or done cardio, but i still don't lose weight, and i'm hungry, and I'm frustrated. Sigh...and I'm getting a cold from not enough sleep or something...sigh, stupid scale. and My roommate loses weight no problem, by working out only 20 min acouple times a week. Ok, thanks for letting me vent. At least i can run and swim and do the activities that I want and Have great blood pressure and a slow heart rate.

I'm still here !!!
I try to go 3 times a week to the gym, and keep structured in spite of my irregular work shifts. A strong day structure prevents me from binging.
And I got a Wii-Fit for Christmas, it's not really a workout but it helps keeping me moving my butt instead of sitting on the couch, and it's fun too.
I was this weekend in France to see my mom. We went shopping and it was fun. I hope everyone had a terrific weekend !

I think everyone is pretty busy and it's a small group so not much activity.

Regardless there are many, me included who are still going..strong and silent.

I've dropped almost 30 lbs since joining and that includes 18 this year alone.

Hope you all are well !

I had a great Valentine evening at the japanese restaurant and even if I went above my calorie range I stayed way under 2000 calories so it's still oke. I took the fish menu as I planned and a apple juice, further only water. I did not eat all the rice but I had a small ice cream for dessert.

Here I am again. Yesterday I went to the gym and did 30 minutes cardio. I had been hungry in the afternoon, but when I checked what I had eaten for breakfast, lunch and snacks it was not amazing : I did not eat enough !!! So I had a couple of extra healthy snacks in the evening. In fact I compensated so good that I feared I had been over my calorie range even emoticon
But I did not, I was just a bit under my upper range... Today I'm being extra good in the day because I go to the Japanese restaurant with my Valentine emoticon
But I'll take the fish menu, water and no wine, and I'll go easy on the rice. And I'll play 30 minutes on my WII-Fit and will do some heavy cleaning in the house too.
A SPARKling Valentine Day emoticon

I stuck to my nutrition plan so far, went to the gym and did all I had to do.
I am feeling great and happy, even a bit proud of myself.

Hey all, I'm back !
All of this got a bit overwhelming and I got tired of watching what I was eating. That's the danger when you almost reach your goal.
So yeah I fell off the wagon and took some weight back on emoticon
But I am back ! With motivation, more tasty and healthy snacks and meals, and I signed in the gym. I also asked a WII-Fit for christmas.
I started to eat healthy again 2 days ago, and went yesterday to the gym. Today is so far so good. I will log out now and go iron a bit. Later on, when my husband will not look TV anymore I'll do 30 minutes fitness on the WII.
I'm happy to be back !!! emoticon

I have been committed to weight loss since I found Sparks May 1, 2008. I don't have a lot of time to spend on this site, but I'm sad to see the lack of involvement.

I do hope people who made a good start have not given up on themselves.

I've been grateful to Sparks for giving me something to hang onto so I don't feel totally alone in this battle.

My condolences to you as well, Luna.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome back.

I decided to start with square one and go back to the first week - I am concentrating on getting into a good exercise routine first. That is so much harder for me then sticking to healthy eating. A good friend has made a bunch of "appointments" with me to go walking during the day at work and she is helping me stay focused.

Hope everyone has a good week. :-)

My sympathies also Luna.

Welcome back to the team, Terri.
I think this team really does help me stay accountable for sensible eating and exercising. I wasn't feeling like I was making much progress with weight loss, then I went for my annual check up last week. I've lost 18 pounds since last year. What a great boost, and reminder that this is going to be a life long way of living.
If any one else on our team is celebrating Canadian Thanksgiving, I hope you have a great weekend.

i'm completly just jumping in here.

So today was a good day i was down 1.4 lbs since yesterday, which puts me right on track for the week. However i have a feeling that i'll up a little tomorrow, since i found out that someone i was close to died this morning. I stayed on track and got a little extra exercise in, but stress has a way of giving you weight no matter what.

On the bright side his death motivated me more to live a happy, healthy life

Hi Y'all -
Yes, I disappeared and gave up and have had a lot of set backs but I decided it was time to come back to Spark because it was working when I was doing it. It's amazing to see how much everyone has accomplished and now I see where I could have been too if I had just stuck with it.

Hope everyone has a good week and I promise to try and stick around this time.

Morning Class !

I haven't posted here for a while. It just seems that there is never enough time to do all the things I intend on doing in a day. But I sure hope everyone is still hanging in there and doing well!

Sagarino - Glad that hubby is home. Certainly sounds like you have your hands full. I know how stressful it is when a loved one is sick and you are having to take care of them plus take care of yourself too. And why is it that when we already have more than enough stress, that illness has to add to our money problems? Hang in there Sagarino, will say a prayer for you.

Canuck - Hey, have you ever tried one of those Wii Fits?? I hear they have a golf game, but I have never tried it. Might be fun for winter, but I hate to get one (kinda high priced) if I don't like it. Good on you for joining Curves...I would like to go to a gym if we had one close by. I'd have to go about 20 miles though, and I know I wouldn't do it. I did buy a Leslie Sansone dvd for winter though....Walking Away the Pounds or something like that. It's pretty fun and you get a good workout indoors.

GGMOMWA - I agree , half the weight in ounces sounds kind of excessive...I would never be out of the ladies room if I drank that much water! LOL !! Besides, it took me quite a while just to get to the point that I drink 64 ou. a day.

Have a great day!

Becky

Good Morning, Can you believe it is October already?

Hubby is on his way for a Chiropractor adjustment, then we are headed home from our apartment. We were here working on rentals. Seems we are on the road most of the time.

I started a 10 day challenge on another team. One of the goals is to drink half you weight in ounces of water every day. That seems excessive to me. I stick with my 64 ounces.

Hi all,
Good grief, where did September go? I'm a teacher and this is always my busiest month. I hope all my class-mates here are still working at their goals.
My weight loss has hit a big stall and I haven't been sparking for awhile. Since golf season here in Alberta is almost over, I've been looking for something to keep me exercising this school year. Curves was having a promotion in connection breast cancer awareness, so I signed up. I've only gone twice but it seems like a good workout. Anyway, I'm hoping to get back at sparking, because it has helped me. Take care all

Hi All: Can't believe how time has gone--dh home from hospital--so much to cope with -- have nurse once a day/psw's twice a day/OT once a day/PT once a day. They are training me to use the Hoyer lift to get him in & out of bed etc. Going to try this for a while to see if I can cope. Also, try to get ready to move to new apt. so need to hire people to stay with him while I go out etc. Adding up to big expense--going to end up a bag lady! Trying to get respite care through gov't programs but need forms from Dr.--hopefully will have them on Monday. I think of you all often I'll be on when I have a few seconds to myself. Take care emoticon

Our family has been in Blaine with beautiful weather this past four days.

We have walked on the beach, swam in the condo pool, and soaked up the hot tub.

The exercise was more than usual.

Hi Shazzlemonster:--Hubby still in hospital--I really am not sure how he is--the infection in the leg/foot seems to be clearing up but, his overall health seems to be deteriorating--he doesn't look as good as he did a week ago. His breathing has become more laboured & he seems to have the "shakes". I'm trying to get hold of the floor doctor to get some info. His CO2 levels are way up so they have to watch he doesn't go into a coma. My weight is kinda on hold --haven't lost or gained just kind of hanging in there--trying not to eat when I get upset etc. I haven't done any exercise since July--so will have to work my way up when I do start up again.

Congrats on your loss--& your overall fitness gain is fantastic!! emoticon

I'm here! I'm here!

Whew....sorry it's been so long, but man I been busy! Work is nuts at the min and I've been working out alot and time just gets away from me. On the plus side, the added cardio has helped me finally break my plateau. After 3 months, I finally went from 206 to 204 this week. And my fitness has increased 10 fold. To the extent that they've bumped me up to the advanced workout at the gym! Yaaay me! One of the trainers at the gym have set me the challenge of losing 5lbs this month and finally breaking the 200lb barrier. Doable I think.

So how's everyone else doing? Sandi, how's your hubby doing?

Sunflower--Thanks for the prayers--they tell me he might with luck make it home in about 6 weeks--all depends on how well he responds but it's still touch'n'go so not going to far from home. Hope everyone has a great weekend

Ok, I'm gonna say it. I'm really frustrated with my rate of weight loss at the minute.

I'm working really hard and frankly, the weight should be falling off of me. I'm going to have a petulent child type moment and stomp my foot, pount and whine about how it's not fair!! If I don't see a loss next week, I'm gonna go talk to my doc. Really, 10 lbs in 4 months, from my start weight, is not enough. If I was still losing inches I'd be ok, but nothing. And damnit, I'm tired of working out and sweating like a pig for nothing.

There, I've whined and I feel a bit better. I'm gonna go to bed and get up feeling refreshed and determined in the morning.

I am trying to get up and jog for 20 min (w/ 5 min warm up and down so 30 min total) before doing anything else in the morning. It's hard though. It seems like if I do good eating the day before and don't load up on a bunch of junk it's easier for me the next morning. I do my ST every Mon, Wed, Fri late morning while my youngest naps.

I started the new job last Wednesday and being off my regular schedule is really reaking havock with my goals. August was just not my month. In fact, I'm leaving the month worse off then when I started. grrrrr

Good Morning Class!

And off we go on another week. Hard to believe the end of August is almost here.

Sagarino, my heart goes out to you. I totally understand that you have more things on your mind at this time than worrying about your weight. Will say a prayer for you and your hubby....please take care.

Well, time for me to finish up here and head out to work. Hope you all have good day!

WOW so much happening since I was here. Hubby went back in hospital on Monday -- oral antibiotics not getting into his system as his heart is not strong enough to pump things through--his BP in lower leg/foot is almost non existent. So they have IV in one of his arteries which seems to be working although the leg had re infected & it has also spread to both lower arms. Just taking it day by day. But, spending so much time at hospital--Tim Horton's right there--so when I'm hungry --just grab a toasted bagel usually with cream cheese or butter or sometimes a salad--not even going to think about my weight for the next while until he stabilizes a bit more.

Wishing you all well emoticon

Evening all! Hope everyone had a good day.

Bride!! WTG!! You're halfway there!!

Canuck, so glad you had a good time on your cruise! I don't know if I could control myself on a cruise full of food! LOL !! I just plain ol' love to eat.

So when do you start your new job, TB?? I bet you are excited to get started. :)

Shazz, I hate to admit it, but I still haven't committed myself to a planned exercise schedule. :(
It's always in my mind at the beginning of the day, but when I get home, I let my body rule me. I have been doing better though.Myplan is to get in at least 20 minutes of cardio after dinner, and the dishes. Did it Sunday and Monday, missed yesterday, but am still planning on doing some tonight. And now that it is cooling off in the evenings I am hoping to do some walking again. I need to do something different besides always riding my stationary bike.

Holy Mama!!

So, my eliptical and treadmill arrived this evening. After spending an hour assembling the eliptial, I decided to give it a go. Managed 10 mins before I fell down in a heap. That thing is hard work!! For the next week I'm gonna do 10 mins eliptical in the morning, 1/2 hour curves 5 evenings and 20 mins treadmill (walking) and 10 mins eliptical 3 evenings(maybe 4...we'll see how I'm feeling. I'm gonna start counting the curves workout as ST (cos damnit, it's 12 ST machines) and 15 mins of marching. To keep track of it all I'm gonna have to start carrying my diary again. I haven't used it since I changed jobs, since I don't need it for my current one, but at least now it'll have some use. It's actually a really nice leather filofax that my last boss bought me as a gift when I started working for him. That was sweet, wasn't it?
So, I'm curious....what are y'alls work out schedules?

Hi everyone. I'm back from my fabulous cruise vacation to Alaska. It was great, although it's true what they say about food, it's everywhere, all the time. I was pretty good and "only" gained 2 pounds, which I have managed to lose already. Now to get back to reality. I'll catch up with you all soon.

And Shazzle is officially back in the saddle. Did my curves workout this evening, as well as the 10 min jump rope video on the trampoline and 20 mins upper and core ST!

I feel like me again! lol

Sagrino (I really hope I spelled that right) that's amazing news about your hubby! I'm really happy for you both and I'll continue to keep you both in your thoughts.

TBNewton...congrats on the job!

Annie, welcome back. Don't worry too much about the gain, just get back in the saddle and you'll be amazed how quickly you'll drop that again.

Hi everyone! I hope that the start of your weekend is going well. Sandi I hope that things are still going well with your husband.

I know that I have gained some weight back emoticon ,but I have not gotten to the scale yet. I am too afraid to finds out what the actual number that I have gained is so far emoticon . I was doing so well until I had to take care of my mom for a week and now we are on vacation so my whole routine is out of the window. We have going out to eat where the dinners are HUGE! Everyone is eating big dinners and I am following along and I don't know why.

Well, here is to a new start and more resisting temptation for me .

Enjoy your weekend everyone!

Sandi, I am so happy to hear that he is home! emoticon . Isn't it wonderful to prove the dr.'s wrong and have him at home? I had the same experience with my father (gave him a 5% chance to come through the surgery). I will continue praying for you and enjoy your time with him!
God bless you and thinking of you,

Hi All: Thanks for all the wishes regarding my DH--who has once again proved medical science wrong! He came home yesterday -- a little worse for the wear but still breathing even with really high CO2 levels--nurse is going to be coming in daily. Dr.'s say 3-4 months to be rid of the 3 types of bacterial infection in his leg. Mega dr. appointments/lab work etc will be on going for as long as he has infection. So for now we just go day by day. emoticon emoticon

TB...hope you have a giant helicopter, sounds like all of us want a ride!! LOL!! I will be crossing my fingers for you after Friday...sure hope you get the job!!

Shazz.. I can't even imagine myself bouncing on a trampoline!!! Up down up down, bounce off the side and hit the ground!!ROFL!! That would be me!! emoticon

Hey Calc...good to see you!!!

My week has been so so. Hubby is still not up to par, very tired all the time and fuzzy in his thinking. It comes and goes and is getting to me. I just want to eat when I am stressed!! I did call the doctor today to talk with her and of course she wasn't there (go figure), but the nurse said she would give her my message. :(

Well, I hope everyone has a great day tomorrow! Let's go team!!

Shaz, what a bummer about your knees. Sometimes it's funny because for once your mind is willing and your body just won't cooperate. -sigh- I've been there. I'd say give going gym free a try. But that's coming from someone who's never belonged to a gym, I don't know how motivating they really are. But if you find you are slipping you can always join back up, right?

My interview went really well. But it always seems like when I think things went well I am disapointed. The interviewer did most of the talking. I just worry that I've got more competition that I first expected. With all the flooding quite a few businesses in our small town shut down and now there are quite a few people looking for work. Odds are not in my favor. But I guess they plan on making the decision ASAP and the posting closes on Friday so I'm thinking I will know by the begining of next week. Wish I was my sister. She went for an interview that same day and they called and offered her the job two hours later. But then again she now has to move 5 hours away. Definatly don't want to deal with that.

Spark-wise I've been doing really well until supper time then I go crazy and am exausted afterwards. All this "bad" food is dragging me down. I need to get back on track so I can feel like I did last month, all full of energy.

Whew! So, I managed to do the trampoline workout this evening. Have any of you tried the sparkpeople work out videos? I modified the 10 min jump rope one. Basically did it on the trampoline 3 times through without the rope. I'd doubt I burned the calories the tracker says I did, since I did have the added bounciness of the trampoline and all, but at least I got a workout without injuring my knees anymore. They're getting better day by day, but I'm not ready to push them much more at this stage since the last thing I want to do is create lasting damage.

My treadmill and cross trainer arrive next week so my cardio can be stepped up a huge notch then. I'm gonna start with some really hard work on the elliptical, assuming my knees still aren't 100%, and then once they're better do some walking on the treadmill.

I'm thinking of dropping the gym membership, since I finally have the discipline to do this alone. With the purchase of an exercise ball and a set of dumbells I'll be able to do all the work outs I would have done at the gym anyway, without the extra expense. At the same time, I'm nervous of doing that, since I've achieved so much since joining and it does keep me focused and accountable. Maybe I should stick with it, just so I have that focus.

Any thoughts?
