A lot of sites use abbreviations that I don't understand.

I guess people don't like to spell out words.

I am staying within my calorie range except in Fat. Does anyone have some tips on getting additional fat in my diet without a lot of carbs?

Well it's a agenda planner... you can plan appointments and you get a reminder per email. Plan your dentist appointment, birthdays and such. Plan your workouts in your day so you don't push them back later and later and later... ooops no time left emoticon

I have no idea why those pictures are so off color. It sort of distorts my beautiful granddaughters red hair! LOL. They are always working on SP to fix things so I wouldn't be surprised it that is remedied soon too.

hi, better late then never. I just relized that our "SP" class had its own message board. I pretty much figured out everything but glad to know that we 5-4-08/05-10-08 class have something in common. We all started together. good luck to all.

I got an email saying that it was time to switch. I wasn't sure if I should either, but I read somewhere else that if things aren't working out you can always move back to Fast Break. I took the plunge, even though I'm not making all my goals either. If it becomes too much, I'll step back.

If you don't think you're ready, remember you can switch to it at any time. You'll still have all your current things to do, but you'll be given other stuff to do as well. Some of it I was already doing! Maybe you are too!

Hum I don't think so... I use groups to plan my breakfast, my lunch and snacks (pretty much the same everyday, just small variations). Then instead of adding all the things I have (for breakfast for example) one by one, I just add the full group breakfast. It saves time, but nothing gets automatically integrated in the mealplan, I still have to add the group manually.

I was curious..

If I put foods into "groups" (on the add food pages)....Will those meals get incorporated into my meal plans automatically and put into rotation? Or will I still have to swap things out?

I don't think you need a new scale, but you should weigh yourself on the same scale wearing the same clothes at the same time of day. If you change what you are wearing, or the time this may affect the weight some, but changing the scale can have major fluctuations. It is hard to know just when the scale at your gym has been zeroed and if the floor is not level, even moving the scale can impact the weight reading. Hope this helps.

Hi Lisa, how many calories are you actually eating? And how much exercise are you squeezing in? I'll have the rare day when I'll eat a little less than 1200, but any day where I have worked out like a maniac I will have a tough time eating only 1500. I'm talking about several hours of mountain biking or rock climbing. So depending on what activities you like doing your body will get hungry enough to wanna eat. So maybe a little bit of info on your lifestyle and how sedentary you are would be helpful to know. But I also eat 6 times a day. My general rule of thumb is 300 for breakfast, lunch, & dinner and 100 for 3 snacks. I don't follow it that specifically, but maybe if you also plan out your meals you'll find it easier to eat the right number of calories. 1200 is very little food, but it keeps you out of starvation mode which isn't good for you. Also I googled a calorie calculator for you and found a pretty interesting one here...http://www.stevenscreek.com/goodies
/calories.shtml you might find it interesting & helpful to know your resting metabolic rate, and also what it is when you add acitivity to it.

Has anyone bought a new scale lately? I based my starting weight on my cheap-o bathroom scale and so far I've lost 4 lbs! But today when I went to the gym (hooray for making it to the gym before work), I weighed myself on their scale (fully dressed) and I weighed 2.5 lbs. more than my starting weight. How depressing! Should I buy a new, possibly "more accurate" scale for home or just go by what my old scale says? Is there any way to edit our starting weight so I still can feel like I've made some progress?

Lisa,

I spotted someone mention drinking milk on another of these forums, as well as upping your fruit portions.

If you're like me and are terrible at eating fruit, try a smoothie. I (usually, although not this week, typical huh?) throw my whole daily quota in the blender with a low fat yogurt and whizz it up. yummy!

How to get a profile picture:
Save pictures on your computer under MY PICTURES. Go to my spark page. Either under MY Tools on the top of the page or on the side of the page under MY SPARK PAGE. Then go to picture gallery and you can upload up to 25 pictures. You can chose one of those to be your profile picture. Your EDIT spark page should be able to walk you through it. Give it a try!!

What that means is that if someone goes on your page they can look at your nutrition tracker or fitness tracker? I don't share mine but a lot of people do. It is a good way to get feedback from other people on your workout or eating habits.

I have a question about the nutrition tracker and the fitness tracker. When you edit your Sparkpage, you have options to check that allow you to share both of these. My husband joined at the same time, and we both checked this option, but we haven't been able to figure out how to actually share these trackers. Is there a way to do this that we just haven't found?

There is not anything for exchanges that I know of, just calories and also looking at the total balance of your diet.
The sticky topics are chosen by the leaders to direct people towards those subjects. The ones that they want to give most attention to.

Hi - I was wondering why some of the posts have 'sticky topic' next to them? - what does it mean? - I've looked at a few of these and the subjects seem normal enough so what denotes a sticky topic?

You will have to put in brand names or add the item yourself. Sites like http://www.calorieking.com/ and just going into google.com and putting "beer calories", "mc donalds calories" are the place to find those sort of things.

Also subway and wendys have a great calorie counter if you want fast food but want to know what your eating.

Where do I go to find things like beer, wine, and birthday cake? In other words things that I only will eat or drink occasionally but would still like to keep track of when I do.

hi Jenn,

Go to your tracker. You can click on Add Food, and then Food Grouping

this will group things for you, like that coffee and cream, or that standard lunch sandwich or salad. Its very helpful.

A lot of people have the same question so don't be afraid to ask!

The most popular one I get is:
HOW DO I GET THAT CUTE LITTLE WEIGHT LOSS TICKER LIKE YOU'VE GOT?
Go to the My Tools tab up top, click on it. Over to the right in green is a link 'View My SparkPage'. now you can edit your page. About 3/4 of the way down is your ticker information. You click the box that says 'Yes! Show Weight Loss Ticker' and put your info in there if it's not already. You even get to choose your ticker background and icon!
Don't be afraid to post a question thinking it's *stupid* because 10 to 1, someone else has got the SAME question you do!
Like my mom always said, "The only *stupid* question is the one not asked!

Here's another GOOD question - I even had it myself!

NUTRITION QUESTION:
WHAT IF I EAT FOOD THAT IS NOT ON THE LIST?
As far as the foods in the nutrition tracker, you don't have to eat what they have on there. I don't have their list on my page at all. There's a spot that you can click that says 'don't show meal plans' which I clicked. Then you click the button that says Add A Food and search for popular foods already in the tracker added either by another member or by the SP team. If you've got a food that's not listed, get the nutrition information from the package and you can add it manually simply by clicking the link that says 'Enter a Food Not Listed' in the 'add a food' window.

HOW DO I JOIN A TEAM AND WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
SparkTeams are teams where people have something in common and can chat, learn from eachother etc.
SparkPeople assigned you to this team because you signed up during this week. You can choose to continue with this team or leave it - it's up to you. (STAY! STAY! PLEASE STAY! LOL!)
When you signed up with SP you may have put some information that would have signed you up automatically to some other SparkTeams (20's groups, Depression, Fitness & Exercise, parenting etc)
In order to view the different teams click the COMMUNITY tab and it will take you to the Community Home page. The second part is SparkTeams. Click the button that says Visit SparkTeams. On the new page you will see the teams that you are currently enrolled in. You have the option on this page to 'huddle' (In SparkTeams, members can "huddle" each day to motivate each other, celebrate success, and earn SparkPoints!) If you see a team that you are on and you don't want to be on it, click on it and on the new page is a button that says LEAVE THIS TEAM. Very easy. No hurt feelings.
Back on the SparkTeams page the second section is JOIN A SPARKTEAM - you can go in and browse around and see which group(s) you'd like to join.
