Goodfeline it looks like you had a good weekend. Kayla had lump and the vet ran a test, basically I think it came back negative she had all kinds of things to say about the results , I should have asked her to explain in language I understood but she added we didn't need to worry about in at the end of the conversation. But this last weekend we noticed it is bigger and when we touch it Kayla whelps in pain, I can't even brush her. I called the vet today and the soonest they can see her is Friday, they said to call in each day to see if there is a cancellation.
I just hope it is nothing serious.

Eva: There are no button holes on my pants, they're already stretch top pants emoticon

His lump disappeared over the weekend so I will keep an eye on him. It comes and goes, but this was the worst it's been. If it comes back again I think I will take him in - if nothing else just to find out what it is!

This weekend was a girls weekend at my moms. We decorated cookies, colored on Christmas bakeable plates for Santa, and colored Christmas statuettes. It was fun. I also took this weeks test on Sunday so I am taking this week to work on next weeks final project, hopefully being able to turn it in early and give myself a two week Christmas "break" before my next class starts.

Feline: Run a thick rubber band through your buttonhole and hook it around the button. It'll extend your pants until your new ones come in.

How's your old man?

Kurtzie: Stay Dry! I'm sure Kayla loves the walks in a rain though!

Well turns out there was a delay in decorating. I had to pick up kids in the car line instead. So my back got a rest. Thank goodness. It's better, but not 100%.

Kee Christmas was fun as usual. I ended up bringing home 2 new casserole dishes with locking lids.

We skipped the parade and went to Christmas in the City. We checked out locally made gifts and donated to the library and the homeless shelter. "Cousin Eddie" from Christmas Vacation was set up. It was a hoot.

Glad spirit is feeling better, and I hope your Good old man's lump is nothing serious.

It is raining cats and dogs, Kayla and I just got home from our walk and it started to pour.

Today much more active then yesterday, was a lump on log yesterday. NOT GOOD.

Have a great Friday, hugs to you all

Kurtzie: My five kitties definitely have their own unique personalities. Who needs television when you have pets? It's like an in-home soap opera every day.

Eva: I'm so glad Spirit is feeling better. She'll be glad when the diaper is gone! We have to take our old man to the vet, he has a lump on his rump I want to get checked out. He probably just needs his anal glands expressed again but at 14 it's better safe than sorry. I hope your back feels better, and that a brace helps it. The holidays are no time to be feeling down and out!

I have been feeling out of sorts myself, and finally figured out it's because my pants have gotten too tight and were causing back pain, stomachaches, and nausea. I gave in and ordered some maternity clothes. The pants haven't arrived yet, but one of the shirts did and it's sooo comfortable. I can still wear my regular shirts but my camisoles are rolling up at the bottom now and my cardigans are shorter in the front than the back with my rounder stomach. Who knew 10lbs would make such a difference?

I read in the local newspaper on Wednesday that a local construction manager is going to be opening a vocational career center like the one I plan to when I graduate. At first I was devastated because I based my plans on having no competition, but then I contacted him to see if he'd be willing to talk to me about his plans. He wants to meet for coffee next week! Maybe I can partner with him and donate my grant to his project, that would be a lot easier than building up from scratch on my own. I think that would be okay with my school as long as he agreed to have me working/volunteering in his center.

Kurtzie: I think all animals have their moods and personalities. I have 6 house cats and a dog. none of them are alike in the least.

Spirit seems much better. She's not leaving piddle trails. I'm keeping a watch on her, but if no piddle trails I can assume it's safe to remove the diaper, according to Dr. Mattie. The irritation from all that going has gone down. She tolerated her bath yesterday (prevents skin irritation because of the diaper). So maybe, just maybe she's okay for now.

I didn't sleep well last night. I had a muscle spasm in my backside. I've developed sciatica because of a couple of herniated discs. I am assuming that this is in relation to sciatica. But it sure didn't help me sleep a bit. Today I have to go do the shopping, then help decorate for Kee Christmas. I told Jimmy I'm going to have to get a back brace to survive the holidays with his family since I'm considered the muscle...

Your cats sound like characters, I have heard cats have their own way of doing things. We only had one cat (that was what our daughter wanted), Kato preferred to be outdoors but never went far from the house. We had her about 10 years before she became sick. We mostly always have had dogs and they have their moods also.

Congratulations on your retirement Kali. I have loved retirement. When I first retired I did work as our church secretary for 4 years, then we moved to OR and haven't worked since but I can tell you I always seem to be busy.

Spice cake sounds good.

Very lazy today, maybe it's the weather, cold and dreary, got to get my butt into gear.

Have a great Thursday.

Feline: emoticon On remembering your cups today!

I think all cats can be "assholes" about something. But it has to be a frustrating diagnosis. I have one that gets mad and pees in the shower stall. Only when angry. But it's not much of a punishment since I just wash it away and sanitize the stall floor...

Kali: How fantastic! Are you looking forward to final retirement? Any celebration plans in the works?

My "old lady" seems to be doing better today. I'll continue to watch her and hope maybe we are over the hump.

Today I'll make my spice cake and put it in the freezer to be decorated tomorrow. I'm thinking of a nice balsam wreath on top for the Kee Christmas party.

And Feline - yours sounds not only defiant, but love that he's an 'asshole'

Still dealing with icy side streets, but the emoticon is out, so this too shall pass!
And the best news? Met with the Social Security expert and we start Medicare Feb 1 (I retire Jan. 4) as well as start taking SS!

Kali: One really does. When a student has to sit there and edit as they read you have to wonder how the paper got past the review process! It gives me hope for getting published one day, though, lol

Eva: I remembered my cups today! I am sipping fruit punch flavored water while the coffee perks. I can't decide if it is worse when the errors are in journal articles or books. Articles are supposed to be peer reviewed, but books are supposed to have editors, publishers, and pre-release reviewers looking at them.

Poor kitty. We have one who pees outside the box. After extensive testing, many vet visits, and a ruined carpet the diagnosis was "He's just an asshole". He stares you straight in the eye as he does it, too. He KNOWS what he's doing.

Feline: At least you found a short-term solution. Is there a way to stash a bottle of water in your desk, just in case you forget? I hope the kidney stones pass soon and as painlessly as possible.

Brenna and I both correct spelling and grammar as we go through published works. It's a headache. I'll be honest, it put me off one author completely.

I'm glad Hubby is okay.

Kali: Glad the decorations are up and you get to enjoy an extra day of quiet at home.

My MIL was in a slightly better mood yesterday. Probably because she was getting her hair done. Who knows.

I had to take the oldest cat to the vet yesterday. She's still pretty lively but is having bladder control issues. Apparently, it's just she's old. So now, to protect the furniture I am diapering a cat. Which is not the easiest of tasks. LOL. Cats don't like "pants." but it protects the furniture.

Richard - good to see you. Best wishes on your recovery.

Eva - 2 giving Thanks celebrations - how cool! Keeping my fingers crossed for a good family holiday. Always tough to get through the first 'alone' milestone...

Feline - glad that bad day is behind you and hope you find a way to hydrate. Bummer about the kidney stones and hope your homework goes smoother than the reading. (One wonders how some things get published...)

A Sunday emoticon and wind event kept us indoors and I was delighted to have Monday off as well. I ended up cancelling two appointments to avoid the ice encrusted streets, but was able to get Christmas decorations mostly complete. The man cave is left as well as buying new fuses for the shivering snow-person.

Eva: I managed to forget my cups again today, so had my husband drop me off at Starbucks where I got a big bottle of water, their new Juniper latte, and a bagel. I can refill the water bottle throughout the day. The latte isn't too bad, either. It's a nice light taste, kind of woodsy, faintly of berries. I like it.

I was in the hospital last week for a kidney stone, and yesterday I was dealing with another one. I know I had around four of them hanging around in my kidney so I suspect my kidneys are working harder now that I am pregnant and the stones are going to get flushed out with the extra work. Not looking forward to that.

My husband says he is fine. They lowered a ladder down the top of the elevator to get them out, but it wasn't strong enough for his weight and fell out from under him. His shoulders are sore from pulling himself up through the top of the elevator pull-up style but that's all.

I am trying to study for my class but this assigned reading has an error in the very first sentence! Instead of "lives" the author spelled it "life's". I hate reading things where I spend half my energy editing it in my head to make it readable. Only one of the three assigned articles seemed interesting to me, so I might just skip the other two and begin the homework early. It's not very responsible but it saves me time and headaches!

I know the holidays are the loneliest time of the year. Your MIL is probably feeling that, especially this first holiday season. I hope she starts to feel better with your support.

Feline: I'm so sorry. I hope today is better. I understand the frustration of forgetting your cup. I wag mine around like a toddler. I hope Hubby is okay.

I'm off to give my mother in law her holiday perm this morning. I hope she's in a better mood today. Yesterday she was ill as a hornet. It's going to be a difficult holiday for us all, being the first after my father in law passed. I'm trying to be supportive, but she is making it REALLY difficult.

I feel gross today. I am achy - I skipped exercising at lunch because my hip and back hurt too bad, and for lunch I had a bag of Fritos with my sandwich. I thought the whole bag was 150 calories - but after I ate it and tried logging it I couldn't find it on SparkPeople so I double checked and it's 4.5 servings per bag!! I had an 834 calorie lunch!! I guess I am skipping my afternoon snack and having soup for dinner.

I forgot my water mug and coffee cup this morning, so I've been trying to stay hydrated with the little Styrofoam cups my work has. I am so busy that remembering to drink is difficult, and not having the wide straw to drink from is really hampering my fluid intake. And then I get a text from my husband that he got trapped in an elevator! Bad day for us both.

Feline: I'm glad your doctor put your mind at ease about the gain. I think you are doing a fantastic job at being a pregnant lady!

Kali: Glad you got to tackle the leaves. You can't tell if I've raked or not we have so many.

Richard: I hope you are feeling better. What happened to put you in the hospital?

We had a nice Thanksgiving holiday. We do everything twice, once on Thursday and once the following Saturday. Saturday night we went through a local lights show that helps pay for services at our STAR center. The STAR center helps people with a variety of disabilities through therapy. ABA for those with behavior issues, and helping people that have lost sight learn a new way to navigate their environment. It's a fun way to donate.

Eva - how cool that Walmart not only saved the day, but did it so inexpensively and with such grace - wins all round!

Feline - I'm glad your health care folks are monitoring your gain. Sounds like you are just where you want to be. I hope your remaining pregnancy is as easy as the first trimester.

Leaves have to wait until after emoticon day, but we might tackle some raking (pine needles) prior to heading for dinner. I plan to bring a pinot (we're all red drinkers) as well as a chilled desert wine.

Eva: The PA told me 1700-2000 is perfect for where I am right now, and not to eat less than 1700. She said the small gain I've seen is most likely because I've had such an easy first trimester - just a little nausea and no food aversions - so I've been able to eat to my hunger. She expects I'll gain another 4-5lbs by the time I see her next month, and said 1lb per week of pregnancy is perfectly fine and I can gain up to 50lbs and still be considered a healthy pregnancy. Since I'm worried about it, and considering my history of obesity, they'll monitor my weight a little closer for me, though. So I feel a bit better. I'm still anxious about gaining, but I am glad that I am gaining normally.

We were getting ready to size my ring down when I got pregnant, so it's really loose. It actually fell off yesterday! We're holding off on resizing it until after I have baby now, but with how loose it is I think I might be able to wear it all through the pregnancy.

Walmart actually has a pretty decent eye center, I went there for a long time. Their frames aren't too bad, either. I'm glad they were able to help you out, especially right before the holidays. Brenna needs to see the turkey!

Feline: My best advice, follow your doctor's orders. The truth is it will average out in the end. As long as your choices are mostly healthy, then you'll be fine. I do recommend getting a necklace to put your wedding bands on in the very near future. I had to have mine cut off. We got them repaired, but it hurt my heart to see them saw my wedding ring apart.

I never go to a party empty-handed. I'm lucky we do pot-luck meals. But Kali is right, a bouquet of flowers or a bottle of affordable wine (provided they drink it) is a nice choice for a hostess gift. White if she's serving turkey.

Kali: Good luck with leaf taming! I've given up LOL.

Thank you both. I think my grandfather and father-in-law would have both been proud.

Brenna's glasses broke beyond repair yesterday. My eye clinic was closed (of course! it's a holiday and they travel) so I ran into the Walmart eye clinic. The ladies there were so nice. They measured her lenses and popped them into a pair of frames that would work right there. It cost me a whole $9.00. They saved the day.

Eva - I'm glad you were able to instruct the boys and am saddened their parents didn't understand the importance of preserving monuments... The extra 30 minute history lesson sounds perfect too. Our schools are out as well (love the lack of traffic on the roads), so enjoy the Thanksgiving dinner prep with Bre.

Feline - sounds like you're doing great. I'm with you on being empty handed, so you might take her a bouquet of flowers?

Weather is warming before another cold weekend, so hopefully we can corral some more leaves!

Eva: I'm allergic to almonds and peanuts, but I do like cashew butter and sunflower seed butter. Cashew butter with apples or bananas in oatmeal sounds pretty good. My breakfast today is a Frappuccino - I was supposed to see my OB but she got called to an emergency C-section, so I am rescheduled with her PA this afternoon instead. We stopped for Starbucks on the way to my work, me forgetting that my work was catering gourmet coffees today!

I thought I was doing pretty good, actually. I've gained 6lbs in 10 weeks, but Baby Center says my weight is where I should be at 14 weeks. My husband estimated I should gain a 1/2lb per week - so by his calculations I am where I should be at 12 weeks. I was eating 1200-1500 calories, but my OB's PA told me to eat a minimum of 1600-1800. I've been eating closer to 1700-2000, I think my weekly average is around 1750 or so. It horrifies me after weekly averages of 1300-1400 but I want a healthy baby - and to sate this hunger emoticon

Sounds like you had fun! I can't believe those boys. I can, because I went to school with enough boys who would have done that exact same thing, but I can't. I'm glad you yelled at them - they did need yelling at!

My husband informed me that his mother cooks to put on a show for her guests, and that when I bring food to holidays she gets offended. He's asked me not to bring the cheese ball to Thanksgiving when she's cooking a full meal, but said it would be better to do on Christmas (we do his parents the day after Christmas) when it would be more welcome to snack on while we open gifts. I am disappointed, and had no idea she found this offensive. I don't like going to holidays empty handed.

Kali: Enjoy your short week!

Feline: High protein snacks. I lived on string cheese and unsalted almonds and melon. Also, a tablespoon of nut butter in your oatmeal makes it hold you longer. I liked almond butter in mine. Pregnant ladies hold a lot of water weight. Sometimes baby center is off by a long shot. It fussed at me to gain weight, and I did at the end. A lot of it, but some women gain early and lose it later. Don't stress over that part too much. And remember, eating too little makes you gain extra weight too.

My job was basically to ride herd and keep my small group on time for each stop. Which I'm pretty good at since I'm a stickler for schedules. I'm also the crazy mom that had to yell at a group of boys for climbing on a civil war veterans tombstone. emoticon It was not kids from any of Brenna's classes. Brenna's science and social studies teacher heard me, but she wasn't close enough to call them down herself. I apologized to Stefani for yelling at students from another class/group and she said: "They needed yelling at. What color were their shirts?" She informed their teacher. What really pissed me off (excuse the language), the kids' parent chaperones weren't calling them down even though they were watching them.

The field trip ended 30 minutes ahead of schedule. We used that 30 minutes to take Brenna and her friend Brianna on a driving tour where I gave them the history of the Battle of Shiloh, something many kids did not get.

Today I do the chores that I missed yesterday. Today is the last school day of the week. So tomorrow I get to plan Brenna's Thanksgiving prep cooking lessons.

Eva: I think you're right. I tried oatmeal this morning since it is supposed to be filling, it was delicious - apple cinnamon with a fresh cut apple on top, but I ended up eating my morning snack (a banana) with it. I'll have to hunt down a different snack when it's snacktime. I have some in my drawer, or I actually have cash on me so I could go to the vending machine for some trail mix or something. I'm 10w2d now so I know I can expect a lot of growing soon. According to Baby Center I've gained too much weight, though, and I am trying to maintain until 14 weeks. So far I am fluctuating between 158 and 162 fairly consistently, and 1600-1800 calories is normally my maintenance range anyway (I'm not sure how much or if being pregnant will change that), but I see my OB tomorrow so we'll see what she says.

My conclusions in my paper were basically it is all about the culture and the environment, and making people feel included and validated. The four themes focused on that and seven factors I found for keeping volunteers, as well as seven factors for why volunteers leave, all confirmed that. If it's not a pleasant, inclusive, socially diverse environment volunteers will move on.

Have fun in Shiloh! What all will you be doing? Other than schlepping a cooler around, lol

Good luck!

Joyce - hope you have a great week too!

Feline - your paper sounds fascinating - I'm with Eva - quality is important.

Short week is super - I only have 2 days of work!
Car in for oil change and tune-up on Wednesday and thanksgiving @ friends.

Kurtzie: Thak you. We try to make gifts each year for family and teachers. It's a holdover from my childhood.

Feline: You may have to start carrying extra snacks. Calorie counting isn't as important when you're pregnant. Although the quality of calories is important. When the baby is growing you'll starve. And yes they have "growth spurts" just like children do. That's why some days you starve and some you don't. Just listen to your body. It's okay.

Switching brains is hard, I know.

Your paper sounds interesting. I know personally if the people I volunteer with are less than sociable I have a difficult time going back.

Today is the field trip to Shiloh! Some of these kids are going to be disappointed. I feel sure I heard 200 audible groans as the teachers sent out a text that's no food available on sight so you have to bring a picnic lunch. I personally have a backpack with a first aid kit and a rolling cooler, But most of these kids have never been to a place without a gift shop and a snack stand. It's going to be interesting!

Eva: Those ornaments sound pretty!

So far I've found four major themes in volunteer retention: leadership, inclusion, motivation, and commitment. I am still writing the literature analysis but so far the strength of the relationship to the organization and the people in it is a strong factor to continued desire to volunteer. That makes sense to me. I used to volunteer walking dogs at the humane society, but didn't have a good relationship with the other walkers and ended up stopping. I'd love to switch to caring for the cats but I think I will wait until I am done with school to try again.

I had planned on spaghetti and "meatballs" last night, but my husband decided last minute he'd rather do Arby's. So my 500 calorie dinner turned into 1000+ calories and I ended up eating 2200 calories for the day not because I ate a lot, but because I had a high calorie breakfast and dinner. Now today I am having the hungries and am near in tears because I don't have anything else I can eat for breakfast unless I break into my morning snack or my lunch several hours early. I am wondering if the two are related at all. We get an early release on Wednesday and Thursday and Friday next week. Looking forward to the short week.

Feline: I hope your OB can help you out. That would be a fun gift for the entire family.

Your paper sounds interesting! I hope you share with us your findings.

I think this teacher is just an unorganized human. I know her slightly outside of school, although I'm not sure she put the pieces together herself. She's tried 2 small business ventures to get out of teaching. Both failed. And I know the event planning was from a distinct lack of organization and customer care. She planned one of my sister-in-law's wedding about 3 years ago...

We had a snow day yesterday! Brenna made alcohol ink Christmas ornaments to give as gifts. Basically, you drop the ink into glass balls and swirl it around while you give quick bursts of cold air from an air duster. It's fun for abstract art.

Eva: I thought about asking for it for Christmas, but by then I'd be so close to 16 weeks there'd be no real point. I might ask my OB if there's a chance I could know the gender by Christmas so I could surprise my family as a Christmas present instead.

Sounds like she is a disorganized teacher. I took a class on Coursera she should check out - "Get Organized: How to be a Together Teacher". It's a great class.

I'm getting a head start on my homework this week. My FIL discovered that Judge Judy is on YouTube for me, and I want to have a friend over to binge this weekend. I realized two of the readings assigned by my teacher were irrelevant to my paper topic so I am skipping them which means I got to start my paper yesterday. I have the resources picked, the outline made, and the introduction written. I'll be working more on the body of the paper this morning. I am writing a research paper on the factors relating to retention of volunteers in nonprofit organizations.

Feline: I wanted to know too. It helped me with my register. I think that sneak peek sounds fun. Maybe DH will give in!

I had my meeting. The teacher admitted that she saw my child working on the assignment but she just couldn't find it. She gave her full credit. And I made it clear I would be documenting everything so this doesn't happen again. Her excuses were "Maybe the wind blew it out of the tray onto the floor," and "Well she just meticulous in her work and so that makes her slower." emoticon The assistant principal told her that was a bad thing. I'm not satisfied with the meeting outcome but I can accept the results. I still don't have real answers as to why so may kids owe her work regularly.

Eva: We definitely want to know! I believe we will find out around the new year, I'll be 16 weeks right around New Years Eve. I want to try the Sneak Peek test, which is a blood test you can order online. It's supposed to be 99% accurate as long as you're 9 weeks or further, but it costs $79. My husband isn't willing to pay that when we could wait and get an ultrasound, which he has more confidence in.

That seems very odd, I am glad you are having the assistant principal in on a meeting about that. If all the kids are there how can work be missing? They shouldn't be held accountable if the teacher has lost it or something else like that.

Feline: The numbers game changes with pregnancy exercise. Keeping fit helps with a smoother delivery. So right now that's your end game, stay active to help with a smooth delivery and a faster recovery. You are actually doing exactly what you should be doing as a healthy living pregnant lady. I'm proud of you.

But it is VERY difficult to switch mindsets. That part will get easier as your bump grows.

I'm so glad that your news was received with such cheer. I had no doubt it would be. Your niece is funny! Now you can start making a registry! Remind us please of when you get to find out the baby's gender? Or do you want to know? Some people don't.

My asthma is better. I have a meeting at school today. We have a teacher who keeps posting lists of work kids owe her, as in 10 kids owe her the same assignment. If no one is absent then no one should owe her work. There's no homework in that teacher's room. It's all done in her classroom. So I want to know what the heck is going on. I'm not really a confrontational person so I'm rather nervous, but I think the problem needs to be addressed. I have the assistant principal sitting in on the conversation.

GOODFELINE there are various things you may be able to try whilst pregnant, these may include isometric, chair and yoga.
congratulations emoticon and i hope everything goes well.

the yoga suggestion may fit in with some meditation and hopefully avoid any issues with high blood pressure that can sometimes arise during pregnancy

cheers richard

Eva: I am mostly doing the recumbent bike and body weight exercises right now. It feels like so much less than before, and I am not burning nearly as many calories as before, so it kind of feels like I am letting myself down. I did tell my yoga instructor I am pregnant! She is making modifications for me during the classes.

We had three announcements this weekend. My mother's side was the most surprised and asked the most questions. My dads side was the most outwardly happy - my dad immediately called the entire family to share the news, lol. Both my in-laws and my dads side suspected that was the reason for the get together and were happy they were right. My niece put her hands on her head and said "I have SO MANY cousins!". She's pleased if it's a girl they'll be sharing a middle name, though.

This weather change was really quite sudden this year. It seemed like it was t-shirts to winter coats in just days. It's playing havoc with my allergies, for sure. I'm sorry your asthma is acting up, I know how rough that can be.

Richard: Indeed, I am pregnant. My OB has put me on some exercise restrictions so I can't do everything I was doing before. It's put me at a bit of a loss for what to do for exercise and Eva has been trying to help me in figuring out less intense exercises that are healthy for me and baby. We haven't seen you in awhile, how have you been?

Hi Richard! How are you?

Feline is pregnant, so it's actually recommended to walk, stretch and possibly dancing like Zumba (beginner level) or belly dancing. Dancing can help make for an easy labor.

Feline: Just walk. Believe me, it will be enough while you are pregnant. There will be time for videos later. right now walking and stretching will be enough. If you are taking a regular yoga class, inform the teacher you are pregnant. Certain poses are bad for pregnant ladies.

Wasn't this weekend the big announcement? How did it go?

We enjoyed our play. Grandma Addams stole the show. Afterward, I got in a little Christmas shopping. My asthma is kicking my butt lately. It's common with sudden weather changes. But it seems like all the weather changes are sudden. I suppose this is my new normal.

Eva: With the snow this morning my 15 minute commute turned into an hour, and after getting set up for the day I only had 10 minutes to work on it! I have yoga on my lunch break so it's not much of a head start.

I always gain a little weight around the holidays because I just love holiday food so much. But I have to admit that I've let myself go since finding out I am pregnant. Part of it is fear of exercising and not being sure what to do since I can't do most of my videos now (although this week I haven't worked out because I have been using all my spare time to study), and part of it is the persistent hunger. But I know I could make better choices. This week I have had Taco Bell three times because I just wanted their burritos so badly. Not a good choice, especially without the exercise to balance it.

On the plus side, we got the books for our Little Free Library! Somebody donated some books to it while it was empty so at least one family will be using it. But it's ready for action now!

Feline: Good luck with your paper!

I don't believe I've tried Washa crackers. I might have to give them a look. Jimmy would probably love them.

Kali: Enjoy your game! and stay warm.

I admit I take orders for Thanksgiving and Christmas meals. It doesn't bother me a bit to be a follower. I did get a special request to make a spice cake for the Kee Christmas party. That's from Jim's aunt and uncle that are driving down from Pennsylvania, so I can hardly say no to them!

We are having January temps in November. This winter will be a wild ride!

Love the idea (and taste) of a cheese ball - haven't enjoyed one in years - so will add to our list!
Good idea to finish homework prior to big announcement - can't wait to hear how it goes.

Haven't picked up our bulb yet - still trying to decipher wattage and voltage and heading to our specialty shop tomorrow.

Eva: I'm sorry your mom is sick. That's so cool the high school is doing the Addams Family, though! My high school never did a performance that cool. I love the Addams Family.

I decided on the cheese ball. I found a nice Taste of Home recipe (that does indeed use green onions) that I can make the night before. I'll just need to grab some crackers or a veggie tray to serve it with. I have a bunch of Wasa crackers at home, which I love, but DH thinks are weird. They are low calorie multigrain crackers that I think taste great, but they are kind of weird in that they are a solid graham cracker shape and don't break down into smaller rectangles or anything.

Since we're announcing this weekend we're planning on a lot of family time (we have my mom's side, my dad's side, and his parents) so I am trying to get my homework finished early. It's taking a frustratingly long time to finish my assigned readings though, especially since I got partway through the wrong chapter at one point! I think I will finish today at lunch, though, which should give me a few hours tomorrow to work on my paper. I won't be able to finish it before Saturday but I'll at least get a head start.

Feline: I love a good cheeseball. I spike mine with green onions. But the stuffing bites sounds good too. We often make an anti-pasti to serve.

Well, my mom is sick, so it looks like I'll be taking Brenna to see the Addams Family without her. The high school drama club is putting on a production. I love supporting the arts at school but also having a little piece of my adolescence that my kiddo enjoys with me.

Eva: We are doing the bell choir again this year. The songs are better this time, for Thanksgiving we are playing "To the World, Joy".

I am trying to think of what I can make to bring to Thanksgiving. I am thinking something kind of snacky, since my MIL will still be cooking when we arrive and people will be hungry. I'm not sure what kind of fun snack, though. Something easy, but tasty enough to impress my MIL, lol. Maybe bacon wrapped stuffing bites? They weren't too hard and my dad enjoyed them last time I made them...or maybe a cheese ball. Those are easy and everybody loves cheese balls.

Feline: Enjoy the change of pace.

Before Brenna was old enough to voice her opinion my tree went up the weekend after Thanksgiving. Kids change things LOL.

Will you be part of the bell choir again this year?

Tomorrow I'm going to help my sister in law get her Christmas things out of the attic. She's a widow. She doesn't have a second pair of hands. So I'm the winner. Maybe we can do it.

Eva: I went bagel hunting the other day and didn't find any whole grain ones, so got plain minis. I've tried them with Nutella and cashew butter with a banana and they have been quite tasty. Tomorrow I think I will try Nutella with strawberries. It's a nice change from my protein drinks, and is helping me get more fruits in! It's not quite as filling as my protein drinks, though, so I am counting the minutes to my morning snack, lol.

I won't be putting up my tree until after Thanksgiving. Usually we do Thanksgiving at my grandma's house, but she's not up to it this year so I am going to my in-laws. It should be interesting. My DH says it might be fun since we're telling everyone we're pregnant this weekend so they'll know by Thanksgiving.

Kali: Did you find your bulb?

Your rain will be here today. It's going to be a doozy. I'm glad it shouldn't move in until after pickup line.

The weekend brought the baking of cookies and the erecting of holiday trees. Yes yes, it's early but the 10-year old broke it that she knows who Santa is. She informed me that I did a lot of work for dad to get to eat the cookies. emoticon But she wanted to put the trees up early, so I went with it. I tried going to the co-op's open house. It was NUTS. And who knew not one person would be smiling?

Eva - glad Mom is good and love your car. If that's a cluttered garage - you need to manage ours!

Friday was good - raked almost entire yard and today it's covered with emoticon
Good news is we turned off the sprinkler system and have emoticon - final clean up will be a while...

Hoping to get a much needed replacement bulb for the kitchen fixtures - wish me luck!

It was raining so I had to take a picture in my cluttered garage. Here's my new to me Santa Fe. I have to give her a name.

Feline: glad to know you're feeling okay. Your pregnant. Candy for breakfast if that's what baby screams for! And Halloween candy it's special.

Mom is fine. She is allowed to skip the B 12 she been on for 6 months. He did put her on a weight restriction of 50 lbs. That's for her back.

Jimmy is home today and we go officially car shopping. I'll be glad when it's done and I can put all this behind me.

Eva - good luck on finding a new emoticon
Feline - sounds like a super way to celebrate emoticon Glad you are feeling fine and your neurologist is checking your medication. I can relate to the hair dilemma - mine is just about over and I'll be able to pull it all off my face... The nice thing about cutting it is manageability right away.

We had about 40 children last night many from the neighborhood brought their friends. The best costume was a Rubic's cube - gotta love the creativity!

I hope everyone had a fun Halloween! I got my nails done, then spent the evening watching American Horror Story and overeating candy.

I need to get my hair done. I am trying to grow it out and it is in that derpy stage where it flips around every which way. It's almost shoulder length and I am beginning to remember why I cut it in the first place - mainly how annoying it is around my ears. DH said he is fine with my cutting it again (even though I know he prefers it at least shoulder length), but I am unsure if I should. Especially with winter coming - longer hair means a warmer neck!

Eva: I am feeling fine, mostly relieved everything is okay with baby. I had no idea the pregnancy hormones would cause breakthrough seizures. My neurologist has ordered a blood test to check my medication level - I suspect with my increased blood volume the medication is diluted and we'll find the levels are low.

I hope everything is okay with your mom, and good luck car hunting!

Feline: maybe DH will let you listen to your body. That's a bit funny that he got it from the book you bought.

How are you feeling post seizure?

I'm off to the doctor with my mom this morning. I hope to get to report a new to me car by the end of the weekend.
