How is everyone and what kind of crafts are you working on? Anyone doing anything for St. Patrick's Day? I think I'll do a table runner and matching napkin rings. I did a set for Valentine's and want a set for each holiday.

We had trick or treat last night and we only had about 182 kids which was alot less then last year. My favorite little tike was about 2 years old and dress like a state trooper. Her father is a state trooper, so it was so cute to see this little uniform. It looked like a mini version of his outfit. I thought it was a boy at first but then I saw this white little bow in her hair. She has a crisp shirt, belt buckle with a baton and handcuffs. It was a nice evening! WE even lit a fire in our firepit!

We have trick or treat at our house tonight, so I can't wait to see all the kids. I told my husband that I am actually going to count how many kids come because it is crazy the amount of kids we get each year. We live in a newer subdivision in Tallmadge, so almost every house is kids and dogs :)

I have a funny story to share so here is a bit of info to set the scene....

My best friend Brandee of 25 years and her finance Eddie are living with my husband and I for awhile because they lost their home in a foreclosure. Brandee & Eddie have a dog, cat, lizard, snake & fish. They have been great houseguests so I can't complain at all. We have a large finished basement with a full bathroom, so that is where they are living... plus my art studio is also downstairs. The basement is a walk-out, so there is a door down there to get outside. I am getting ready for my art show this coming weekend, so things have been crazy at the house and super crazy in the basement.

Brandee just called me a few mins ago to tell me what just happened.

She was on the phone with Eddie and their cat Sophia wanted to come inside. Eddie opened the door to let Sophia in and really wasn't paying attention. Eddie looked at Sophia and noticed she had something in her mouth and then she dropped it. Eddie tells Brandee that he has to call her back because Sophia caught a bird and it is still alive. The bird took off and was flying all around my basement. The bird was going everywhere. The dog was barking and the cat was trying to get the bird again. It finally landed on the snake cage, but the snake didn't go for it because it just ate last night (thank goodness). Eddie caught the bird while it was on the cage because it was still kinda out of it from being in Sophia's mouth. Brandee was laughing so much on the phone and she said aren't you glad the Clampets are living with you now :)

How was everyone's 4th of July Weekend? My husband and I pretty much stay home and chilled. We did a few projects around the house. We also went to our neighbors house for a party... and we had a few things we should not have had so we walked on the treadmill till we didn't feel guilty anymore!

Our father's day BBQ went really well yesterday but I ate too much...o well today was a good day. I didn't get but about 15 minute walk in though. Tomorrow I have to baby sit (and Wed. and Thurs. as well) from 7a.m. until 9a.m. with 2 of the granddaughters while their mom takes the oldest one to basketball camp. She got the middle son off today and he will be gone a month. Called the new DIL and she is doing good. She and youngest son will be coming out on July5th along with Jackie and the girls. Then the oldest son and his wife showed up today for a visit. They are in town to go to a friend's funeral. But we hope to see them on July 5th too as the have her family reunion that week.
As for crafting, I finished the rose table topper, have it washed, but need to iron it before taking a photo to share. I have started a printed cross-stitch sunflower tabletopper for the middle DIL's Christmas. I have 1/4th done already. Hugs. Barb

ok where is everyone??? I've finally finished the rose wreath table topper in embroidery. I have it in the washer and will post to my spark page when I get it dried. I've been getting lots of exercise lately but it makes me hungrier. My husband retired as of this past Monday and my youngest only unmarried son at age 34 got married last Sunday. We are having the middle son and family out tomorrow for Father's day cook out. We have also been picking the wild blackberries. I've got 3 dolls drawn out and ready to sew so will probably get to that this evening. Hugs. Barb

I have been bad about doing the workouts this week. I have to figure out a way to get the monitor lower so I can do the floor ones - lol - I can't see it and missed a few that way.

I'm so glad that you're going to try it! It's a good book to follow.

The bootcamp workouts are already starting to get easier, I noticed yesterday while doing the lower body one again. I'm glad, hopefully this week I won't be anywhere near as sore as I was last week!

I'm going to try to get some yarn this week too and start working on that workbook you sent me:)

I ended up doing the upper body and the abs in the same day. I liked both - upper body I was sore though. I dug the abs. I didn't do yesterday or today yet as I just got in.

How did the last few videos go for you? That abs one really didn't do anything for me. In a way I'm glad though cause the rest of my body is sore from the upper/lower workouts! Yesterday's was tough with my legs still being sore from the first lower body workout, but I muscled through it:)

Ah...that's not good news for me...LOL. I missed yesterdays video - I was going to try to do yesterdays and today's in a little while. I have to try to hit the gym today, so I don't want to be too sore before I even get my cardio in.

I haven't been around much either. Having a rough April. Finally broke my 6 week plateau though :) Yay!

I haven't done anything too crafty either. Or any of my work. I guess it really was a bad April...

It's really not hard at all. I don't make any soap from scratch(like the cold process method). But if you buy unscented liquid castille soap you can make all kinds of different body washes, shampoos, and face washes by adding whatever kind of herbal infusion and essential oils you want to it. Body butters and balms are really easy too. It's all really easy actually, it's just a matter of finding the ingredients:)

You should check out your library and see if they have "Earthly Bodies and Heavenly Hair" by Dina Falconi and "Organic Body Care Recipes" by Stephanie Tourles. Both books have really good recipes.

Energy and persistence conquer all things.

Is it hard to make homemade bath products? I used to do soap.

My husband has 3 sisters, 2 sister-in-laws, and an aunt that we have to give gifts to at Christmas time. I was thinking of homemade bath products and knit spa cloths.

I'm pretty good about finishing projects, unless I'm trying to crochet something, lol. I only know one stitch that my mom taught me when I was little. I always get it into my head that I want to make something when I'm in the yarn section, but end up giving up on it cause my stuff always looks so boring. Anyone know any good resources for learning to crochet?

Right now I'm not really working on anything, but I just ordered some candle making supplies and some oils and herbs and whatnot to make my mom an organic at-home spa set for mother's day.

LOL. Do you strat things and not finish them? I just bought 6 skeins of yarn in Michaels. I only went in for a pair of 14K plated hooks to make a pair of earrings I've been commisioned to do. Left with some wire, some beads, 6 skeins of yarn, a book. LOL.

I don't really have a pattern. You know those long hanging plastic things that people hang out side and they twist in the wind and do crazy color things? It's along that idea but beaded.

I take memory wire and usually attatch some kind of dangle or charm to the end, fold closed the wire. Then I just bead what I want the lenght that I chose, and make some kind of hanger for the top and attatch that - closing the end to keep everything secure. They look pretty in windows. I don't have any made right now - but when I do I'll post a picture.

Did you just do squares on the checkered flag afghan or is there a trick to it?

Yep! A checkered flag afghan just like in racing. We live next to the famous Cedar Lake Speedway :) Course, now I may have to make that a Minnesota Wild afghan since he decided he's going to paint the walls that color lmao
BEAD SUNCATCHERS?! OMG I've been thinking of making one for a long time, but have no patterns :( Mind to share? ;)

I have a project waiting room. I am awful about starting things and not finishing. I have got to make some beaded mobile/sun catchers this week, finish some cell-phone holders, and finish 2 pairs of socks that are a special order. That's just to start - LOL. I started Christmas presents for last year that I want to finish for next year.

Jennie! A checkered flag afghan? Like in car racing? My 3 year old has a Cars (the movie) room. THat might be awesome in there.

I am currently working on a knit baby blanket for a friend of mine. I'm so far behind! Usually I get them done before the baby is born, and she's already 3 weeks old and I've barely begun!

I'm also working on a quilt for my daughter. It's going very slow. I started it in January, I think, and have had to put it aside because I've had a sudden influx of babies to make blankets for.

I'm also cross stitching some bibs for another friend's baby. Ugh, so many babies! I'm never going to catch up!

What is everyone making right now/what's your most recent project? Mine is a crocheted steering wheel cover that I can eventually hopefully sell. Also a checkered flag afghan for my brother (which is barely started since November lol).
