Paying Attention
Thursday, November 14, 2019
Just as the mother universe provides our needs, she also looks to protect us. Frequently in our lives, sometimes every day, we experience a red flag warning us of potential problems or accidents. We may not always recognize these signs. However, more often than not, we may choose to ignore our intuition when it tells us that "something seems to be just a little off-kilter."

Red flags often come in different forms of feelings that urge us to take pause, listen to our intuition, to heed and consider. We may even experience a gut feeling of unease. This is a red flag letting us know that there is a possible problem. We may not know exactly what the red flag may be about. All we know is that the universe is trying to direct us in a different direction. We just have to pay attention to it.
We may even wonder whether we are just being over suspicious or simply imagining things. However, when we look back at a situation or relationship where there have been red flags, it becomes easier to understand exactly what those signs had meant. More often than not, a red flag isn't a false alarm. Rather, it is the universe's way of informing us, through our own instinctive guidance, that our path best lies elsewhere.

We may try to ignore the red flags, dismissing our unease as illogical. Yet it is always in our best interest to pay attention. For instance, have you ever met someone who outwardly seems perfect? They are intelligent, attractive, and charming all rolled into one. Yet, for some unexplainable reason, being around them makes you feel uneasy. Any interactions with them are awkward and leave us feeling like there is something "off" about the whole thing. This is not necessarily a bad person. But, for some reason, the universe is intent on getting us away from them.

Red flags are intended with our best interests at heart. No harm can ever come from stopping long enough to take heed. There's that inner voice again. So pay attention when any red flags pop up. You're always being looked out for, by the mother universe.

Your inner voice is your spiritual guide reminding you, constantly, to stay the course. It speaks the truth. Are you listening? Tara Correll

What is our Inner Voice?

In the stillness of things, you may have felt it. That nagging feeling in the back of your sub-conscious or in that tight feeling in your chest when something just doesn't feel right. How many times have you "known" something about someone or a situation, but chose to ignore it only to have your suspicions confirmed? You may look outside yourself for an explanation, thinking that accessing your inner wisdom causes mistrust, fear, and doubt. Especially when there is no concrete evidence to back it up.

All your life you've had an inner voice offering direction, gently and sometimes urgently. Sometimes you listened and other times you brushed it aside and thought nothing of it. It’s not necessarily a literal voice you hear but a sense or a feeling. It can be a hunch or fleeting feeling, even an image, or impression.

You don’t have to be an intuitive person to encounter this—you are constantly taking in impressions throughout the day with your finely tuned senses and processing them. The shift starts when you actually begin to pay attention to the impressions and your responses to them.

None the less, you were gifted with this inner sense of “keen awareness” and by building a relationship of trust with your voice, it can actually lead to an empowered life filled with an aspiring outcome.

When first starting to be more attentive to your inner voice, more than likely it won’t even come through quite as clear at first. If you compare it to an old penny that has dulled over time but with some elbow grease the dullness can be repolished, revealing the brightness of the copper beneath that has always been there.

Just because you don’t feel those “aha moments” doesn’t mean they are not present. With some work, your preception can be tuned in, making it easier to hear and feel when your inner voice is communicating.

Once you start paying attention, you will slowly begin to hear the different voices or “hounds” within you, and the choice will become yours as to which one you respond to. How is it that we know in our bones the best course of action for ourselves, yet we take another path? And how often does it come back to bite us? We even have a phrase for it – against our better judgment.

As you all know, the pull of the “noise” can be very strong. So strong that we don’t give it any consideration to stop, pause and think about what is the better choice or the right choice. You blindly make the choice, over-riding that inner voice, your conscience, and have that serving of high fat, a high caloric favourite food. It's full steam ahead. And before you know it, it's become a second serving and then a third.

Then the guilt sets in and you start coming up with what you consider logical reasoning (let's call it what is; excuses for your actions. You were swayed by intense emotions ignoring the gentle tap on the shoulder that was showing the way. If only you'd listened to that still small voice.

How difficult can it be when your job is simply to listen, and in the listening, you will be given all the guidance you need to do exactly the right thing. We need to get out of our own way and allow the still, small voice to be heard.

No Ill Intentions

Every time you interact with family, friends, co-workers, you're given a choice. you can either listen to, acknowledge and let it go, or you can take what they've said personally.

In order to take something personally, you must read negativity in that individual's words or actions. However, if you really listen and take into account what is being said and who it is coming from you learn to discern and realize that what people do and say most times has really nothing to do with you and is usually based on what they themselves are experiencing, causing emotions.

Also, most times they have absolutely no clue as to what they may have made you feel. They are actually totally oblivious. So, if you do take what they do or say personally, you may end up feeling hurt without cause or reason.
Let them blow off their steam. Put that impersonal distance between you and let it "go in one ear and out the other."

If for whatever reason you let them get to you and take what they have said personally try to determine what is at the root of your own feelings. Ask yourself if the other person's words or actions are just reinforcing some insecurity within you or if you can really be sure that an offence was intended.

Don't let sleeping dogs lay either. If you feel the remarks were intended, ask them what they meant. Don't let it fester. You're only hurting yourself further that way. It's far better to clear the air.

Finally, put yourself in the other person's shoes. Instead of taking their words as truth, or as a personal affront, remember that whatever was said or done is based on their opinion and is more reflective of what is going on inside their mind and emotions, rather than having anything to do with you. You may have been an easy target for someone having a bad day, and their comments may have been offered with no ill intentions.

When you recognize that what anyone says, does or doesn't necessarily have anything to do with you, you will no longer feel hurt or attacked. While it's easy to take things personally, you should never let anyone's perceptions or actions affect how you see yourself or your worth. Your life is personal to you, and it is up to you to influence your own value and sense of well-being.

I've learned long ago that taking things personally is often the result of recognizing that the person's actions or words may or may not be an affront or slight. So, it's you learn to take the cherry and throw out the pit. That's if there is anything positive to kleen. If not, then take and deep breath and lend an ear. Beneath the "rant" may actually be a cry for help but they know no other way to ask.

Are You A Hostage?
Sunday, November 10, 2019

Have you ever wondered why it is that after trying everything possible you know to do, DIY, plus every weight loss program you've come across and still don't shed the weight? How frustrating does that get?

Well, it turns out that there is, in fact, a very real connection between the number of toxins that get stored in your body and your weight. Toxins are much more prevalent than you'd think, and they can and do completely hold your metabolism hostage!

When there are years of unresolved toxicity, any toxins that the liver hasn't been able to clear out on an ongoing basis causes it to become overloaded. So, it initially stores the toxins in the fat cells of the liver itself, which degrades the health of the liver. When the liver fat cells get full, the toxins are stored in the fat cells anywhere in the body. (Unfortunately, people who have a higher BMI will store more toxins because they usually have more body fat.) Stored toxins have a significant impact on slowing down metabolism and contribute to weight gain.

“We are what we eat” may need to be updated to include we are what we drink, touch, absorb, and are exposed to. Chemical toxins bombard us from every direction. They’re in the water we drink and the food we eat. They’re in the cleansers we use, our beauty products, and even the air we breathe. They leak from our walls, our clothing, our floors, and our furniture. Herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, pharmaceutical residues, petroleum byproducts, pollutants, and so much more. In short, toxins literally surround us.

Obesity is a continually growing because of the western diets and lifestyles we follow. But what if this increase in weight gain can’t be blamed entirely on sugary or fatty foods coupled with lack of exercise? Turns out toxins are the culprit because they contribute to fat storage making it that much more difficult to lose those unwanted pounds.

Yes, our bodies are clever, well-organized machines prepared for a multitude of external and internal attacks from many sources like viruses, fungi, bacteria, and even modest amounts of poison. But when toxins enter our bodies, they are automatically sent to the liver to be broken down and flushed out. But when the liver is already overwhelmed endangering the heart and other organs our bodies revert to a backup plan and imprison the leftover toxins, locking them up in your fat cells. This lets the liver catch up and we can release the toxins slowly later to be cleaned or sent packing.

However, with the environmental and internal toxin levels continuously climbing, the liver is overwhelmed more and more frequently. The result is the increased toxins along with increased fat get stuffed into storage for getting rid of later. The outcome is the increase in fat cells to deal with the toxic load and people rapidly become obese.

Unfortunately, we're seeing this process starting at a very young age with obesity in children. and much younger than we thought. Some studies show that babies begin storing toxins in their fat cells even before they’re born. Infants exposed to toxins in the womb are born with more fat cells and have a higher risk of rapid weight gain which leads to overweight or obese children and adults.

We've all been exposed to high levels of toxins our entire lives. Take a minute to look around your home. How much synthetic material do you see? Take a look at your food in your pantry and fridge. How much of it is in cans, aluminum, and plastic? What about the ingredients? Are there chemicals you can barely pronounce, let alone know where they came from? As I've said before, we have been poisoning ourselves into obesity, little by little. We're caught in a trap!

The good news is, there is hope. You can reclaim your health and become the healthiest you, you can be.
Just think, every time you lose a pound of fat the healthy way, you've also literally detox yourself without ever having to do any kind of detoxing program or juice cleanses. You've used the power of your own body's filtration systems to get rid of them—and it will thank you for it.

Non-Scale

I know just how easy it is to get caught up with the number on the scale and letting it be your primary focus for becoming the healthiest you, you can be. BUT, and that's a big but because, in my opinion, it isn't healthy or sustainable. It should never be the be all end all when measuring your success.

Being physically fit, and healthy is too often confused with weight loss, This belief is both discomfiting and without merit. The number you see on the scale is just that: a number, without insight into anything else.

I know that most of you know that the scale isn’t the only means to measure progress. It’s definitely not the best way to measure if it’s the only thing you’re tracking. Why, because those particular numbers will mess with you!

The number one reason is its to easy to become discouraged when you’re only focused on those numbers alone. There are several reasons for this. To name a few: Muscle weighs more than fat, bloating, for women, your monthly cycle can affect your weight, sodium causes weight retention, and your cardiovascular health isn’t measured in weight.

There are other numbers far more important. There are your cholesterol and blood pressure to name two. Let's start with cholesterol.

When doctors talk about high cholesterol, they don't mean the amount of cholesterol a person gets from food, but rather how much of the substance is circulating in the blood. With atherosclerosis, the specific culprit has elevated LDL cholesterol, the "bad" kind associated with increased risk of heart attacks and dying of heart disease.

While LDL is harmful, HDL, a "good" form of cholesterol, helps arteries. Besides quieting down inflammation in damaged arteries, "it blocks the oxidation of LDL," Gotto says, "and we think that HDL has the ability to pull some of the cholesterol out of the cells on the arterial wall and transport it back to the liver, where the body can get rid of it. The higher the level of HDL, the lower the risk of heart attacks and cardiovascular disease."
www.webmd.com/heart-disease/
features/h
igh-cholesterol-dangers#1

Know your cholesterol numbers, he adds. "It's better to talk to your doctor about atherosclerosis before you get symptoms, and unfortunately for many people, the first symptom may be the fatal one if they have sudden cardiac death or cardiac arrest."

"If you have elevated cholesterol, dietary and lifestyle modifications should be the first course of action. A high-nutrient diet, containing a portfolio of foods such as green vegetables, nuts, beans and berries, works to bring LDL cholesterol down and restore the health of arteries.
A high-fiber, high-nutrient diet, focusing on natural plant foods, such as vegetables, fruit and nuts, was found to reduce cholesterol by 33 percent within two weeks." says Dr. Joel Furhman.

Why blood pressure matters

You hear so much about blood pressure and how important it is to keep yours within a healthy range. Blood pressure readings measure two things: the force that pushes on the walls of your blood vessels as they carry blood and oxygen to your organs (systolic pressure) and the force that’s created when your heart rests between beats (diastolic pressure).

If you’re looking at a blood pressure reading of 120/80, the systolic pressure is the first number and the diastolic pressure is the second one. If either of these pressures is too high, it means that too much pressure is being put on the walls of your blood vessels. This can lead to stressed arteries that could develop weak spots or scars over time, which can cause increased plaque buildup and raise your risk of blood clots.

So, the number on the scale doesn't seem quite as important anymore does it?

The bottom line: There are just too many influences that contribute to body weight. Your body can slim down and you can lose fat while staying the same weight or even gaining. Your health can improve despite the number on the scale! So please don’t measure your progress or your self-worth solely based on the scale numbers.

Should you ditch the scale?

As controversial as this topic is to weigh, not to weigh. There is a middle of the road.

Let me ask you something. Why do you weigh yourself? To find out your weight, right? For some, that number is a great motivational tool while for others it could mean great discouragement.

Honestly, there is really no right or wrong approach because when all is said and done, a lot of depends on your goals, where you are on your journey, and if 'weighing in' is the right approach for you.

I say, use the tool. You, of course, want to know you're starting weight. Everybody does and you should have a starting line, a jumping-off point. Fine, so you initially weigh-in. After that put it away. Out of sight, out of mind.

All I'm saying is, don't let it become an obsession. Don't become its slave. If you have it's definitely time to ditch the ball and chain and concentrate more on your non-scale goals.

Taking your measurements is one of them. Setting up a list of goals and checking off each victory as they happen you begin to notice that everyday tasks are getting easier your energy levels have increased, your joints hurt less, you're noticing more muscle definition and your endurance is improving.

You feel stronger, you're more resilient than you used to be, your mind is getting sharper, and you're craving less sugar.
You've achieved a fitness goal, your digestion is more regular and you have an enhanced sense of well-being. Your measurements have decreased, you're now into a smaller dress size and your clothes fit better. You're sleeping better, you've been able to reduce your meds, your mental health is on an upswing, and last but not least, you're noticing that your skin has a much healthier glow.

See, now do you really think you want to become a slave to a number?

Stopping to smell the roses

Do you go through entire days without really tuning in to the beauty that surrounds you? Because it's a daily common occurrence, a part of the landscape, a matter of course, we see it without seeing it or really taking it in.

If you have fallen out of the practice of taking time to observe the light as it filters through the leaves of the trees, or a drop of dew on a rose petal or the concentric rings a raindrop makes as it plops into a puddle, you can retune yourself by dedicating a day to noticing the beauty in nature.

The natural world enriches our entire being, channelled through our senses. When we are low, nature lifts our spirits. When we are tired, it rejuvenates us--if we pause long enough to drink in its beauty.

On this day, one possibility is to rise early enough to see the sunrise. Watching the sky change colours and the world emerge from darkness is an experience that will influence the whole rest of your day in ways words cannot describe.

Or simply observe the quality of the morning light as it infuses the world with its particular rich golden beauty. You may let the light play on your own hand, remembering that you are also part of the natural world.

After you devote one day to really opening your eyes to the beauty of nature, you may want to make this part of your daily routine. Each day drink from the beauty all around you and allow it to rejuvenate your entire being. All you have to do is pause for just one minute, and really take it in, remembering to thank Mother Nature for her beauty and that you were able to see another day.

Breaking Free

Why is it that old habits are just so darn persistent even after we gain the understanding of their damaging effects and are determined to change them? How do we explain such behaviour that goes against our own self-interest? They say the answer may lie in our unconscious, sometimes referred to as the “shadows of the mind,” but not some black hole of unobjectionable urges waiting to trip you up.

It can, however, be a source of hidden and often disturbing beliefs, fears, and attitudes that affect people's everyday thinking and behaviour. For example, seeing and smelling fresh-baked brownies makes one reach out before realizing one is trying to lose weight. We then ask: “what was I thinking?!”

Sadly, the answer is: it took no thinking at all. Yet we might also be unaware that our surroundings may also be influencing our behaviour because stimuli can activate cravings. This explains why it is easier to change our environment than to change our habits.

We all have habits – deeply ingrained behaviours that are hard to change. There’s an old adage that says it takes 21 days to break one (good or bad), but is it really true?

Have you ever tried to break free from eating sweets, or drinking those high sugared drinks or the fast-food junky break away from burgers, fries and pizza? It's an uphill battle, breaking free from food addiction.

The Results Are In

Psychology researchers from University College London decided to test this theory. In 2009, the team examined 96 people and their habits for twelve weeks, with each participant choosing a new behaviour to put into practice.

Every day over the course of the study, the participants reported whether or not they performed their new behaviour and how automatic it felt. The study concluded that it took about 66 days for a new behaviour to become automatic – far from the 21-day mark we’ve been led to believe.

www.mentalhelp.net/blogs/wha
t-it-takes

You're not alone. And, you don't have to be particularly addicted to sugar or salt; junk foods or fast foods to be an addict. Every last one of us has some kind of obsession with food and eating, therefore we are held hostage to addiction. What's your drug of choice? Do you know?

What's your intoxication? What is that one food or drink that fuels your addiction? And, all it takes is just one bite. I'm not talking about the type of intoxication to the point where your physical and mental control is markedly diminished. I'm talking more of what induces that state of euphoria, that high.

Habits become hard to break because they are deeply wired into our brains by constant repetition. And when you add pleasure the pleasure centers of the midbrain get fired up as well.
Habits are also patterns of behaviour and it is the breaking of those patterns that is the key to breaking the habits themselves. Because we’re wanting to break patterns, you now want to do something about the triggers themselves.

Regardless of whatever works for you, it doesn’t mean “curing” addiction only takes 66 days – recovery is a lifelong journey. But just because our brains have been altered by our compulsive behaviours doesn’t mean we’re destined to always fall into the same destructive habits.

By being mindful of our thinking and/or practicing constraint and avoidance, we can learn how to break out of our unhealthy routines and into the life we’ve always wanted.

Never give up on pursuing your goals. No matter what potential derailment you face, try another strategy or try going up and over, or around and sometimes getting through, but never give up. Gary Capla

Criss Cross

People like trains, make unscheduled stops along the way, but inevitably they always arrive at their intended destination. The rails that crisscross the landscape, cutting through country towns and cities have long captured our imaginations. Just the idea of taking a ride on a train can evoke a sense of freedom, adventure, even romance. Trains are like people in that they must inevitably arrive at their intended destination. They make scheduled and unscheduled stops en-route and move at their different speeds. Some trains can travel for hours and are mindful of only a single destination; other trains meander from stop to stop.

Our lives, like train tracks, stretch out in front and behind us and we are the train, its passengers, and the engineer. The way you choose to live your life and the goals you are working toward are the route and destinations you've chosen. Like a passenger riding a train, you have the choice to get on and off, find new routes, pick new destinations, or just stop and enjoy the scenery for a time. Perhaps you are an express train moving quickly through. Or maybe, you're a commuter passenger and like taking the same routes time and time again. You may even want to stop just riding along and switch direction for a whole new destination.

If you have examined the tracks of your life and are feeling unsatisfied, you may want to explore changes you could make to find more fulfilling paths to follow. Perhaps you'd like to slow your pace and take more of a curving twisted route rather than just travelling the straight and narrow. Or maybe, you'd like to experience your life more as an adventure rather than just a ride that gets you where you're needing to go. Changing the route can sometimes give you a chance to "get on the right track."

May I ask you something?. Do you end up eating more than you plan on eating when you eat certain foods? Do you continue eating those same foods even after you are no longer hungry? Do you know why?

People with food addiction struggle every day with the inability to stop eating foods high in carbohydrates, fat, salt, sugar or artificial sweeteners. They also suffer from painful feelings of shame and embarrassment when it comes to these food behaviours.

Have you ever tried to stop or control these behaviours by either completely abstaining from the foods that cause you to eat uncontrollably or even just cut back on those junk foods that your body has you addicted too? Even after several attempts, by now, you may have realized that it’s easier said than done.

Because, even though you rationalize, and your conscious mind "knows" that they are unhealthy, some even being harmful, some other part of the brain always seems to strongly disagree. The reason for this is a part of your brain begins urgently calling for these foods it is no longer getting and you start experiencing the craving for those foods you have recently eliminated from your diet or reduced the amounts.

There are those, however, that don't experience this addiction to food. Their bodies just don't seem to become addicted and so they can easily control the types of foods they eat. While others, unfortunately, don't seem to have a lack of control.

If you are one of these people and despite your best intentions, repeatedly find yourself eating unhealthy foods, even after you've decided, even resolved to cut back or not to eat them at all, is your first thought lack of willpower?

The situation, however, can be much more complicated. The fact is there are ingredients in junk foods; sugars often times being the main ingredient, that stimulates the reward system in the brain causing a release of dopamine. This reward encourages those that are susceptible to eat even more unhealthy foods. This can lead to full-blown addiction, which shares much the same biological basis as addiction to drugs as say, nicotine or cocaine.

How does it work?

When you repeatedly do something that releases dopamine in the reward system, such as smoking a cigarette or eating that favourite chocolate bar, your dopamine receptors can start to down-regulate. In other words, when the brain sees that the amount of dopamine is too high, it begins removing dopamine receptors by decreasing the number of cellular components to keep things balanced.

When you have fewer receptors this triggers the need for more dopamine to reach the same effect. This is what causes people to start eating increased portions in order to reach the same level of reward as before. This is called tolerance.

With fewer dopamine receptors, there is far less dopamine activity. This can cause you to feel edgy, even agitated when you don't get your food "fix." That is known as withdrawal. Tolerance and withdrawal are the hallmarks of addiction.

What can be done?

Unfortunately, there is no easy or simple solution. There is no pill, mind technique or magic cure out there. Some people may need to learn how to control the amounts they eat, while it may be better for others to abstain from these foods altogether.

Dealing with food addiction can often seem impossible. Your brain chemistry is working against you around the clock. So, if you battle with food addiction, my best suggestion is to actually seek professional help. You can also find more helpful solutions here.

I have to say that I learned a very valuable lesson with this! It hit me like an epiphany!

Most of us spend a lot of time keeping our selves and our personal spaces clean. We bathe, we shower, launder our clothes, wash the dirty dishes, sweep and scrub the floors, vacuum and shampoo or steam clean the rugs. We even run the cars through the car wash. But it isn’t just our outer bodies and living spaces that need to be kept clean.

We eat, we drink and our bodies metabolize everything, which means it gets converted into energy. The body then, as a result of this natural process, creates waste from what we have taken in. Our bodies quite literally “take out the trash”. These by-products are so crucial, so consequential, that the creator actually provided us with built-in breakdown systems; lymph system, liver, kidneys, colon sweat glands, oil ducts (acne) for tossing them to the curb.

Thankfully, these "guys and dolls" don’t take time off. Truth be told, without these guardians to detoxify and cleanse, our bodies would choke on its own waste. Sadly, it is by our own hand we inflict the health issues we have. Not just with what we choose to eat or drink but also the hundreds maybe even thousands of chemicals we subject ourselves to every day. They are in the air, the water, the food, the cleaning products we use and including the health & beauty products you slather on your skin morning and night.

So, have you ever wondered why it is that after trying everything you know, DIY, plus every weight loss program you've come across and still can't shed the weight? How frustrating does it get?

We're caught in a trap of toxic fat!!

The biological term for 'toxic fat' is visceral fat. Visceral means organ, so it's the fat that has accumulated and is being stored around your heart, liver, pancreas and all the other organs in your abdomen.

How to lose visceral fat

Although our body fat is distributed mostly by genetics and varies by age and culture, we can control how much body fat we gain. According to current evidence, the best way to lose visceral fat is to lose fat. Any loss of total fat will reduce visceral fat.

This means making necessary changes. And, I don't mean as a temporary diet to lose weight but as a permanent lifestyle change. That is the only way you're going to lose weight, prevent the yo-yo syndrome and have a much higher chance of keeping it off.

If I were to recommend any of the weight loss programs I've ever been ion it would have to be the Nutritarian lifestyle. Its purpose and objectives are to help target foods that are nutrient-rich while steering clear of foods that promote visceral fat storage. This makes it possible for the body to remove life-threatening fat, much better prevention against heart attack, strokes and even cancer. It is not simply about avoiding sugars and reducing fat calories, but saturating the body with immune-supporting micronutrients that promote repair and healing. Benefits from regular exercise can also help reduce visceral fat.

Immeasurable Worth
Friday, October 18, 2019

It's so easy to buy into the misinterpreted perception of our own insignificance of worth. We may see celebrities or successful people around us, whether in our own community, in a magazine, or on TV and compare ourselves to them, thinking that their fame or material worth and power affirms how little our own lives amount to.

Listen to me, nothing could be further from the truth. Every single one of us matters--to a very great extent in fact. Our very existence affects countless people in immeasurable ways. And because we are each essentially a minute part of the greater universe, our internal experiences affect the whole of life more than we ever imagined. This world simply could not exist as it does if you, or anyone of us, were not a part of it.

Perhaps you think that on some level you are of the belief that your life does not matter. If this thought meets with your judgement of yourself, maybe it is time to take a look at why you feel this way. You may have formed self-rejecting or belittling beliefs as a child to keep yourself safe or to help you make sense of the confusing world around you.
You may have felt invisible; unseen or unheard and came to your own conclusion that there was something faulty with you, rather than with the people around you. So, take the time, spend some time looking into where these feelings of insignificance first took hold, and see what changes you may be able to make in your life and your heart.

This one belief in your own unimportance could be limiting you and impacting your life in enormous ways. When you shift your perceptions around your own ability to affect your life and impact the world, you may discover wonderful parts of yourself that you had long ago forgotten.
There may even be exciting new parts that you never even knew existed. When you gain awareness of how much your life really does matter, new sources of energy can emerge and your sense of connection with the world is renewed.

Busting The Stall!

We all go through this, myself included. Just recently in fact. I had been stalled for at least 3-4 months and just couldn't seem to crack it!
I had been keeping with what I had been doing because it's "don't fix what ain't broke" right. Not so.
Almost 2 weeks ago I made some radical changes and BUDABING! I've dropped 5 pounds.
Not necessarily changing up what I ate but when and how much.

Now, for breakfast, I make sure I have the combination of protein, 1 cereal grain, and fruit all rolled into one smoothie.
I chose Steele cut oats, unsweetened vanilla almond milk, ginger and then a choice of fruits: blackberries are my favourite but I also include blueberries, strawberries and pineapple chunks. But, there are so many more.
www.bonappetit.com/recipes/healthy
/sli
deshow/green-smoothies-juice-recipes
one site I frequented. You may just find one or two you'll like!

Lunch is a mix of salad greens; Romain lettuce, spinach and kale, again 1 protein; a mix of seeds and nuts, cucumber, red onion and Tim-tomatoes sliced. I simply eat until I'm full, usually four cups. I do have different combinations, but this is pretty much my steady. I'll add mandarin orange slices, blueberries, strawberries, or fruit choices. Other times I'll throw in black beans, boiled egg slices, or avocado slices. Variety, variety, variety.

Dinner is 1 protein; a 4 oz serving of steamed fish or roasted chicken, no skin, beef or pork, a small salad combination and a side dish of 4-6 oz steamed vegetables. I plan out my meals the night before and journal every evening.

Today I have a chicken thawing to roast for the week ahead and fish in my freezer to change off with. That's basically it of what I've been doing.

My exercise has been 20-30 minutes of walking for cardio and then I alternate my toning. One day I tone the upper body, the next day the lower body. And you can do crunches every day for the core.
And that's basically what I've been doing and will continue to do until I hit a bump in the road. IF I hit another bump in the road we change it up again. That's it in a nutshell. One week later I've dropped 5 pounds and 2 inches from my midsection and 1.5 inches from my hips Oh, and folks If your clothes are feeling looser? Don't forget to take those measurements!

And I work a full-time desk job for a regional newspaper! So it CAN be done! Don't try rushing the process. Taking it, step by step, one day at a time, ensures weight loss that you'll be able to lose and maintain a whole lot easier.

So what’s all this raw food talk about, anyway?

It's my understanding that ‘Raw foodists’ base their practices on the theory that cooking can destroy most of a food's nutritional value, making it less healthy for the body. That raw foods have large amounts of enzymes, which are important for health and digestion, not to mention thousands of other processes in the body. And, these vital substances are destroyed when food is heated to above 116 degrees Fahrenheit.

It's also been said that some people believe that many chronic diseases such as Cancer, heart disease and diabetes are directly linked to eating cooked foods. If my information is correct I have read that one chemical called acrylamide, which is found in plastics and known to be high in many baked and fried foods, such as most everyone's fast-food favourite, French fries, cold cuts, and chips, while raw foods, of course, being in their natural state, show little to no traces of this acrylamide. Meat cooked at high temperatures is contaminated by heterocyclic amines, HCAs, which are also known to be Cancer-causing.

In my opinion…
Are there drawbacks to an all-raw food diet? My answer would have to be yes – for some people. Why, because no one diet can be good for everyone, and so it is important to always take into account your individual needs.

Do most people feel incredibly well on going raw? Again, my answer would be yes. You bet. Any time you start eating healthier, more wholesome foods in place of processed, depleted, fast foods, you’re going to feel better. The question is, does eating healthier have to mean going 100% raw?

I doubt it, but in general, it’s definitely a great way to start changing your diet and lifestyle. Some people might have a harder time digesting raw greens, or root vegetables, and more than likely benefit more from lightly steaming, sautéing, blanching (quick boiling), or baking their foods.

Myself, If I ever chose to change to a more raw diet and just starting out, I'd be trying some of these strategies for a few weeks until my body has had the chance to adapt to a fully raw diet. And, even then I may not go completely raw but stick with steaming and sauteing. I do love my stir-fries! Nor would I be completely giving up my meats of chicken or fish, and I certainly enjoy a good medium-rare steak now and again. There again, certainly within moderation.

Do you follow the 100% raw diet yourself? I would like to hear from you. What's your take on this way of eating?

Feelings, can certainly mess with the mind and body, can't they? They can mercilessly cause very challenging twists in our lives because emotions mix it up and in general rule those same feelings. Then the hormones have to play their part, don't they, completely manipulating our personal power by micro-managing. Am I right or am I right? And at times those same emotions can become so intense without you even understanding exactly why you're even having them.

Consequently, this always causes the difficulty of putting one's finger on just the right fix, that would quickly soothe our distressed minds and hearts, restore balance, bringing them back to that place of tranquillity. Yet it is only when one can accurately identify the feelings being experienced in the precise moment, that we are actually able to tame them by finding that right fix.

Once you do, however, only then do you have the capability to retake control of our personal power by becoming courageous enough to effectively express, out loud and to the point, the nature of your emotions. When we assume ownership of the challenges before us in this way it empowers us to shift from one emotional state to another--you can then let go of the pain and turmoil because we have defined it, examined the effect it's had and then taken back the authority over it by making it your own. By naming your feelings, you claim the right to rid ourselves of them at will.

In taking the steps to acknowledge your feelings aloud, don't forget that being specific is also an important part of exercising control. Whatever the nature of your feelings, you'll need to carefully define the reaction taking place within you. If you are anxious about a situation or intimidated by the individual causing the situation, try not to mince words while giving voice to your anxiety. The precision with which you express yourself is a sign or indication of your overall willingness to stare your feelings in the face without flinching.

Naming and claiming cannot always work in the vacuum of the soul, however. There may be times in which you will find the release of your desire only by admitting your feelings in front of others. When this is the case, your ability to outline your feelings explicitly can help you ask for the support, help, or guidance you need without becoming mired in the feelings that led you to make such an admission in the first place.

Once you have moved past the apprehension that was accompanied by expressing your distressing feelings out loud, you may be surprised to find that you feel set free and considerably lightened. This is because the act of making a clear connection between your circumstances and your feelings unravels the mystery that previously kept you from being in complete control of your emotions. To give voice to your feelings, you must necessarily let them go. In the process, you naturally relax and rediscover your emotional equilibrium.

Raise your hand if who’ve been doing one thing for so long, you’ve lost the ability to imagine anything else. You’re STUCK!

It’s not just the job. It’s not just your relationships, family, or location. It’s how you spend your time, habits you’ve developed, even your thinking patterns. You’re just plain stuck in a rut. You’re so stuck, that you’re completely oblivious to it.
Funny thing is, being stuck can happen with situations that you’ve consciously chosen. And you know the philosophy; Choices and Consequences.

The quicksand syndrome: We’re stuck and terrified of change.

How do we get stuck?

Basically, we get mired in the quicksand when we stop moving forward, expanding. Our minds become closed. In other words, getting stuck is what happens when we let ourselves get bored, go unchallenged, or stay in stressful or unpleasant situations too long.
Of course, other possibilities are always calling, but when we’re stuck, we miss those repetitive insistent signs from the Universe.

We see them, we know they’re there… and for a few fleeting moments, we even ponder what it might be like to head in that different direction. And then we resettle and actively choose to put it on ignore.
We’re so stuck…it’s too difficult to get out of the quicksand we’ve been drowning in.

“Better keep to the safe path,” we remind ourselves, feet sinking further into the mire. “We’d better keep to what we know.”
Here’s a thought.
There’s a huge difference in “not fixing what’s not broke” and what has become broken and needs fixing.
The purpose of our life’s journey isn’t entrapment. We’re not meant to settle for less than what we want or deserve and allow ourselves to get lost in “Miller’s cave”.

Instead, we really do need to keep an open mind, to expand to the fullest extent possible; to learn, to grow from life’s experiences. as a brilliant, passionate, interesting, quirky, scary, resplendent, banquet life truly is!

It’s time you find our way out of “Miller’s cave” step out into the light, let it flood your being and accept that you are stuck and need to unstuck! It’s time to stop and unclog your mind and open your senses to those insistent signs from the Universe.
You’d be so much better for it!

TODAY Is YOUR tomorrow. It’s up to YOU to shape it, TO TAKE CONTROL and seize EVERY opportunity. The POWER is in the choices YOU make EVERY day. Eat well, Live well YOU SHAPE YOU!

EMPOWERED LIFE. EXPECT IT. BELIEVE IT. RECEIVE IT.

Being Ture To Yourself

Unless we can be true to ourselves first, we cannot be true to others.

To thine own self be true …. so profound. How many of you have a hard time being true to yourselves? Those of us that have given our life to another at the cost of losing who we are in the process will have a hard time being true to ourselves. Allowing someone or something else to define who we are, we lose our ability to discover and grow inwardly. For many, we have accepted lies for so long, that finding out what is true takes time. Having done this very thing, I know how difficult the journey to self-discovery can be.

It’s a powerful thing to know who you are. I mean to really know and accept who you are, at your very core. The YOU beneath all of the self-doubts and judgments and fears. It seems like such an obvious thing, doesn’t it? I mean, of all the subjects in the world, you’d think the one thing we would be absolute authorities on would be ourselves. And yet, at 39, I was really only starting to get a handle on who I truly am.

I’d been living for everyone else I had left me behind.

Sometimes I wish things had of been different, wish I could have been different. But what’s really interesting now is that on reflection it was actually shaping and moulding who I would inevitably become. I’ve finally stopped denying and resisting this part of myself, I am actually starting to get a handle on it. Starting to notice when there is anger in my chest that doesn’t belong to me. Starting to recognize the stress or negativity of people around me. To feel those emotions move through me, but not take them on and make them mine.

Realizing how much other people affect me helps me understand my deep needs for solitude. As a result, I’ve finally learned to make this a priority in my life. Just being by myself, without the pulls of other people’s emotions and energy. This is where I find peace. And when I take care of myself in this way, it gives me the strength to go out in the world and deal with whatever comes, without feeling overwhelmed or having to compromise myself in the process.

It’s amazing what happens when you start to accept the things about yourself that you’ve always wished away. Because what happens next is permission. Permission to be what and who you are.

To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.— Ralph Waldo Emerson

You Run The Show

You are the lead role in your life's story of unfolding events and like all classic stories, that connection with challenges along the way helps you to grow and stretch to the outer limits of your comfort zone. At some point, you will encounter challenges whether it be physical, mental or emotional. And throughout those challenges, consciously or not, there is a story you will tell yourself.

That all to often and most prevalent repeated line of thinking that "This person (you) is making me most miserable. If only something would change." While the feelings and the desire are understandable, such argument will usually leave you feeling resentful, powerless, and exploited. Without realizing it, all too often these feelings will merge with your interactions, causing you to act out in anger or prevent something from happening, which can actively cause the problem to persist. The trouble with becoming rooted in one limiting story is that you may fail to recognize the more inspiring accounts that could set you free if only embraced. That is the power of reframing one's narrative - being able to step back and look at all the possible sequence of events from a more elevated frame of mind.

After all, you are constantly filtering through several rival narratives to make sense of your world not only for yourself but others as well. Whether you consider yourself heroic, in overcoming obstacles or a victim of circumstance depends on how you choose to read the content of your life. For example, seeing a challenging relationship as an opportunity to embrace self-love, practice assertiveness, or heal childhood wounds will make you feel a whole lot better than presenting it as evidence of worthlessness or victimhood.

The harsh reality is that you can't change your antagonist, you can only change your reaction to him or her. However, in changing how you react, you may change the adversarial dance you've been doing, either by switching the steps or, if need be, finding the courage and clear judgement to walk away.

If you haven't and ever get the chance, watch the video on UTube! Talk about POWERFUL!

You are who you, you've been looking for.
So, stop looking for more unless you're looking in the mirror.
Because it's about time for you to see clearly that
you are who you've been looking for.
And that empty feeling you have, that hole in your chest.
You've only got that feeling because you feel you're not
blessed with everything you need.
You see, we live in a consumerist society which means
when you buy stuff and the easiest to sell it is to tell you
that you're not enough.
Buy this car you'll get the girls.
Buy this bra you'll get the guys.
And we're seeing it so much that we start believing these lies.
But the truth is the makeup they're selling to make you feel prettier
is the same make up you buy to stop feeling sh**tier about this lie they keep telling you.
That you are not enough.
And what about the movies you watch. All the shows on TV
The more I watch, the more I see, I need you to complete me.
And yes love is the answer, Love is the key but if you can't love yourself
how could you ever love me?
And loving yourself, what does that even mean?
Like messages and selflies and that sort of thing.
Because the more I think about it, the more it feels weird
and I've always been taught that self-love was something to be feared
I've been taught that arrogances is bad and vanity is not good.
And even my bracelets are telling me to act how Jesus would.
So, what should I do? How should I act?
I'm supposed to love myself but how do I even do that?
Well, I've got a trick that I picked up from a friend who noticed that I was quick to defend her when she would say something negative about herself.
She would say "I'm so dumb."
And I would say "You're so brilliant."
She would say, "I'm so weak."
And I'd say "You're so resilient."
And when she'd say "I feel so ugly."
I'd say "You're so beautiful."
She'd ask me "Why I was so dutifully filling up her cup constantly.
And yet treating my own cup so irresponsibly?
Because when I looked in the mirror my voice was quite clear you're ugly,
you're too thin, your hair is receding, you've a pimple on your chin.
And that was when she gave me a piece of advice that changed my life.
She gave me a hug and she said, "Treat yourself like someone you loved."
Now, I had been standing, but I needed to be sitting.
Because I can believe I had been letting myself keep forgetting
that I was who I'd been looking for.
And deep in my core, I knew it was time to stop looking for more
until I could look through all of my fear and look into a mirror
and see clearly that the man looking back at me
was the only one who could make me happy and I am already enough
and I am not any more special or unique than you.
That is why I am here to speak to you. You are already enough
And when you start to see that you will start to be that.
Your world will get brighter, your load will get lighter
and you can see that with life you can be a lover, not a fighter.
And that life, you deserve it. Because you are worth it!
And there is no point in letting yourself keep forgetting
what you say or do YOU ARE PERFECT!
And so, today I hope I leave you
with a direct correction away from the flaws you see in your reflection.
They aren't flaws to me.
They are simply protection against all the doubts you have of your perfection
So start today. Take a good long look in the mirror and say,
"I AM THE ONE I AM LOOKING FOR."

Saying "I'm Sorry".
Monday, Sept16, 2019

Many individuals suffer from the compulsion to apologize for everything. On one hand, apologizing is a social code that keeps interactions between people both polite and nonconfrontational. In that way, it can be very useful. On the other hand, if we find ourselves apologizing for everything, it might be time to look at why we feel obliged to say "I'm sorry" so often. Basically, saying you're sorry is saying that you are responsible for something that has gone wrong with what happened. Whether it's moving through the aisles of the department store or reaching for what you want, there are times when sorry is the right thing to say. But there are other times when "excuse me" is more fitting.

There are times when saying you're sorry is admitting that the other person involved has more of a right than you do. Of course, it's true that using the word sorry can simply be the easiest way of smoothing over any tension. However, if you're finding that you're unconsciously saying sorry, you might want to look deeper and ask why. Where in your subconscious that it may be coming from. If it's a pattern, breaking it may simply take some awareness and practice.

The first step is noticing each time you say it, without being critical. Throughout your day simply be mindful of when you apologize and how often. At first, you might be surprised to see that you do it even more than you realize. After a day or two, try tuning in to what it is you are feeling just before you say it. You might be feeling intimidated, embarrassed or intense anxiety. It could be a number of emotions. Over time, try stopping yourself from saying it and just go with the feeling. You may recognize it as something from your childhood, something that's been with you for this long. The more you are able to understand it, the freer you will become from being sorry all the time.

Falling Prey To Self Sabotage

When we choose that which is not best for us, there may be a deep-seated part of us that does not want to heal. In most cases, we know what is best for us, from the relationships we create to the food we eat. Still, somewhat mysteriously, there is that portion of ourselves where it still seems difficult to make the right choices. We find ourselves associating with someone who leaves us feeling drained or making the not so good choices of fried foods over salad. We also go through periods where we procrastinate with exercising and meditating or taking vitamins, even though we feel so much better when we do. Often we have no idea why we continue to make the less wise choices, but it is important that we make and take the time to find out.

When we choose that which is not best for us, there may be an underlying truth that there is a deep-seated part of us that does not want to be healed. We may say it's because we don't have the time or the energy or the resources, but the real truth is that when we don't take care of ourselves we are falling prey to self-sabotage. Self-sabotage happens unconsciously, which is why it's so difficult to realize that it is happening when it is happening. The most important thing to recognize and remember is that this part of us that is resisting is the very part that most needs your attention and love. Even when it appears to be working against us, if we simply bring it into the light of consciousness, it can become our greatest ally. It carries the information we need to move to the next step in our progress of healing.

When we identify the unhealthy choices we've been making, we might even say aloud, "I haven't been taking proper care of myself." Sometimes this is the jolt we need to awaken us to what is actually happening. Next, we can sit ourselves down in meditation, with a journal, or with a trusted friend to examine the issue more thoroughly. Shining the light of awareness on the source of our resistance is sometimes enough to dispel its influential control. At other times, a further effort may be needed. Either way, we need not fear these parts that do not want to heal. We only need to take them under our wing and bring them with us into the light.

Very good post.
Especially like the tips in 3 rd paragraph; a family member I know could benefit,
Instead, paralyzes herself, ( meaning lies there, or sits there head back).

Good luck as you approach your “ new” career choice in working for yourself.

With Change Comes Anxiety - How To Use It For The Better
Wednesday, Sept 04,2019

Anything worth doing will always have some form of anxiety that comes with it. For instance, ladies; having a baby, tieing the knot, career change. These life changes can be accompanied by intensive anxiety. It helps to remember that anxiety can be a good thing. It is a way of examining whether these new life changes are indeed what you want. It is also a compelling reminder that letting go of and mourning the past is also necessary for moving forward and embracing the new.

Anxiety has a way of throwing us off balance, making us feel uncertain and insecure, but it is not meant to discourage. Its purpose is to notify us that we are at the brink of our comfort zone, on the fence between the old and the new. Whenever we face anxiety, we overcome any inner hurdles and move into the new life-strengthening terrain, both inside and out. The more we learn to respect and even welcome anxiety, the more we are able to hear its wisdom, letting us know that the time has arrived to move forward, or not. While comfort with anxiety seems to be a contradiction of terms, we can learn to credit our fear, recognizing its arrival, listening to its intellectual, mental capacity, and respecting it as an indicator of transformation. Indeed, it lets us know us that the change we are contemplating is significant, enabling us to approach it with approval and proper homage.

You might even want to converse with the anxiety and delve into its depths for a greater understanding. A good way to do this by quietly in meditating and listening or by writing down your worries, your sadness, your excitement, your hopes--is a great way to learn about yourself through the vehicle of fear and to remember that fear almost always comes alongside anything worth doing in your life.

I myself at the moment am experiencing this. With husband wanting to, needing to retire by the end of 2021 and myself wanting to make a career change from working for someone to working for myself... both huge changes!

Not Forgetting Ourselves
Tuesday, September 03, 2019

Most everyone, when given an opportunity to help others in need, is eager to do whatever they can. Those of us who have chosen to make healing a vocation are grateful for any reason to send light and love to those directly around us and outside our circles. As we apply our passion and moral standards to this unselfish labour of love, we often forget to include ourselves with the same bountiful gifts of wellness, though we may be in desperate need of it ourselves. We so often overlook ourselves, not because we forget, but because we fear that focusing on our self is being selfish. Besides, it is much more difficult to heal oneself than to heal others because the seeds of uncertainty are more easily expelled when we act on behalf of others. When we send healing light to ourselves, it is important that our intentions and our self-trust be stronger than ever to fend off self-doubt.

As we honour ourselves, we then serve as both a channel and a passive place for those to land. This should not, however, change the way we communicate with the immeasurable energy we wish ourselves to receive. Though we may be tempted to consciously direct or influence the means the light affects our lives because we know ourselves more intimately than anyone else, we should not try to govern its path. When we draw the white light of protection and purity to our bodies, taking it into ourselves with each time we breathe in, our belief in the fact that it will naturally move toward areas of dysfunction will guarantee that it flows through our entire bodies. And when we fill our spaces with this light, our surroundings are cleared of all negative energy that drains our strength and spirit. Surrounded inside and out with healing light, we feel safe and protected, healthy, relaxed, and content just as those who regularly receive said same loving gifts from us.

If you sincerely believe that there is a part of ourselves that exists independently from upset and illness, the love and light we send ourselves will help us connect. We then see the affirmative impact almost instantly When we include ourselves amongst those that receive our healing gifts, as life's frustrations become more tolerable our bliss becomes ever more substantial.

Embracing Our Imperfections
Monday, September 02, 2019

Every one of us will have many goals throughout our lifetime. Believe it or not one of them should be to abstain from striving for perfection. Besides, a little less perfection never hurt anyone. Isn't life about experimenting, experiencing and learning? So wouldn't making mistakes be a significant part of that? That would be an affirmative.

In spite of this, many of us still have the habitual tendency to strive for being perfect including that of our physical appearance, trying to reach that model perfect body. That airbrushed image that is portrayed in every magazine on store shelves, at the check-out counter, on billboards and on TV. Hello, to begin with, not all of us have the initial body shape that will achieve that physical appearance. Our statures are all different and therefore will have different results. One way to discourage this way of thinking would be to examine our lives in-depth and I think we'd actually find that no one sits in judgment of us as to whether we are perfect or not, image or otherwise.

This does not mean that we shouldn't strive to be our best. We simply need to accept that there is no such thing as being perfect--especially in life. After all, every living thing is in a continuous, grow, your cells die and new ones take their place and your blood flows through your veins. Your life changes more than it stays the same. Perfection can be achieved but only momentarily because it is a here today and gone tomorrow condition. Trying to hold on to perfection or forcing it to happen only creates frustration and discouragement.

I know, when mistakes are made we immediately think we have failed or we haven't measured up to our potential, our emotions surface and we beat ourselves up over it. But guess what. It's not always you.

Sometimes, perfectionism stems from our earlier years an inherited or conjectured ideal from a demanding parent. Hey, we are now the adults ourselves and we have the right to choose to put an end to the need to conduct ourselves in order to have someone else's approval. Similarly, we can choose to experience the world as a place where we have the freedom to be imperfect. Once we realize this, we can begin to take ourselves less seriously and have more fun.
Imperfection is inherent to being human. By embracing your imperfections, you embrace yourself.

Embracing Our Complete Fullness
Wednesday, August 28, 2019
There is a multitude of reasons and merit for us to embrace and accept all that we are and when we do we should do it with honor. When we choose to do so, we collectively move closer to becoming what we are genuinely capable of being. By honoring our experience and willingly wanting to share it with others - all genders - we teach as we gain further knowledge.

When we learn to trust ourselves and that still small voice, we teach those around us to trust as well. Taking hold of each other's hands, be it family members, friends, coworkers, along with those we don't know, in a shared walk through the journey of life, we give them permission to see the self-respect we possess and in turn we accept their respect that is offered through observation, vocal expression and action.

When we can look into our pasts without feeling remorseful and instead see only lessons that have brought us to our present strengths and wisdom, we embrace the complete fullness of what our lives have been. We also help those around us to build upon their own former history. And when we choose to create our passions, we bring our personal and individual power to the forefront and our lives move forward.

Seeing our own supremacy, we learn to recognize the divinity in all others as well. We see our bodies as temples, appreciating our feminine, masculine appearance and purpose, regardless of what age or stage of life we are. Rather than seeing others as competition, we see the circle of life reflected in the beauty of our brothers and sisters, while being reminded of our own individual radiance. We then celebrate all the many characteristics that make us worthy of praise, speaking proudly in expressing our intellect, sharing our emotions, and our spiritual guidance. Accepting our womanhood or manhood, it reveals the many dimensions that allow us to shine with the beauty and strength of a diamond, lighting up our world.

A Time of Transition
Monday, August 26, 2019

How many of us are aware that sometimes a portion of us must die before another portion can manifest itself. Even though this is a natural and necessary part of life's evolvement it is oftentimes agonizing or, if we don't realize what's taking place, it can cause a state of confusion and even the loss of one's sense of direction. In fact, confusion and loss of direction are often the message-carrier that lets us know that a transition is taking place within. These shifts happen throughout our entire lives as we move from birth to childhood to adolescence and throughout our adult lives. With each transition from one stage to another, we find ourselves saying bon voyage to an old companion, the identity that we created and shaped in order to move through that specific period of time.

Sometimes we shape these individual characteristics to fit the relationships or positions of employment, and when we go through a transferance those areas of our life can become disquieting. For instance, we may go through one whole course of our lives having to create a wall of defence around ourselves in order to heal from some early traumatic experience. One day, though, we may find ourselves feeling impeded and anxious, wanting to move outside the wall of safety we needed for so long. However, the recently developed part of ourselves cannot be brought forth within the confines of the wall of our old self that we've needed to survive.

During the transition, we may feel a strange jumble of heightened senses and despondency as we say good-bye to that part of us that is fading out and make way for an entirely new identity emerging in its place. If we remember that transformation, is the process of death and rebirth and are simply nature's way of evolving it becomes easier in letting go of our past self with great love and thankfulness, and allows us to readily welcome the new with open mind and heart, in readiness for our next stage of life.

Are you in the midst of transformation?

Different Paddles
Friday, August 23, 2019

Basically, we're all in the same boat, aren't we? We simply have different paddles, and perhaps we may even find ourselves on different waterways but our common link in all of this, no matter colour, race or creed; we all live in human vessels. These are the means of expression in which we move through our world, no matter what part of the world we live in. We are all made of flesh, blood, tissue and bone, with brains, hearts, and lungs to power us. Our paddles—the tools we use to move through the world—vary, as do the bodies of water—the environments—in which we find ourselves.

Some of us use our reasoning abilities to get where we want or need to go. Some of use our Cheshire smiles and the twinkle in our eye. Others use selflessness or the gift of tongue. Some of these qualities we were born with; acquired via genetics. Others are skills we have aspired to and learned. Considering this metaphor in light of your own life can be very enlightening. What tools are you using to get from your starting line to the finish line your life? Chances are, you and people you know have used many different tools in various combinations throughout your lives to get where you needed to go. Just as we need two oars or paddles to steer the boat, that balanced approach is essential. If you rely too much on one thing, steer too far in one direction, you fail to be well-rounded and you may eventually lose your equilibrium. And if you lose that one quality, you have no paddle at all to navigate through life.

Some of us may be moving along paths that are like swifter currents; others may be drifting calmly on a large, placid lake. None the less we have all felt, at one time or another, tossed about on stormy, even turbulent seas. And even though it might seem that way we are never truly alone. Inspiration all around us in the form of other people making their way through their lives, in the very same boat. Remember to look around you for role models, companionship, and encouragement.

We Are Our Own Fate
Wednesday, August 21, 2019

The time we are blessed with is limited and used up all too quickly. How we utilize that time is consequently one of the most important decisions we will make. Yet it is far too easy to put off until tomorrow what we can do today; are dreaming of. The hectic pace of today's modern existence provides us with far to of an easy out; we shelve our aspirations so we can cope more effectively with the present challenges, ostensibly to have more time and leisure to realize our purpose in the future. Or we tell ourselves that we will chase our dreams someday once we have accomplished other lesser goals. In truth, it is our fear mixed with anxiety that keeps us from seeking fulfillment in the here and now--because we view failure as a possibility, our reasons for delaying our inevitable success seem sound and rational. If we ask ourselves what we are really waiting for, however, we discover that there is no truly compelling reason why we should be putting off the pursuit of the dreams that sustain us.

When regarded as a question, "Why not now?" steals our power to realize our ambitions. Mostly, we are so concerned with the notion that we are somehow undeserving that we cannot see that there is much we can do in the present to begin pursuance. Yet when we look decisively at our existence and circumstances, "Why not now, indeed!" we are empowered to begin changing our lives this very moment. We procrastinate for many reasons, from a perceived lack of time to a legitimate lack of self-belief, but the truth of the matter is that there is no time like the present and no time but the present. Whatever we aim to accomplish, we will achieve it more quickly and with a greater degree of efficiency when we seize the day and make the most of the resources we have at our disposal presently.

All the joy, passion, and contentment you can envision can be yours right now, rather than in some far-flung point in time. You need only remind yourself that there is nothing standing between you and fulfillment. If you decide that today is the day you will take your destiny into your hands, you will soon discover that you hold the keys of fate.

Having been disabled for almost 15 years now i can remember being put in the same spot as you. Working at a plastic compounding plant we would make over 100,000 pounds of a certain type and sometimes full rail cars which would weigh in the neighborhood of 169,000 lbs. being the railroad tech for the company was high tension but i loved it and some times the formula for the product would get changed, without me being told and they would run the silo empty of a certain raw material we needed and it would take me a long time to get to their problem where if i was mad aware of the possibility of the change in the list of product i could have been ready . nothing said for the rest of the day but i could stay clear of the inside of the plant and do my duties on the outside of the plants....hope today goes better for you.....

Refusing to be their garbage dump!

I am constantly amazed at the way garbage accumulates in the home or at the office! It seems as though manufacturers are packaging every product with more and more care these days. I appreciate the safety concerns, but it always ends up being additional garbage to have to discard. Speaking of, it seems like more and more garbage is trying to work its way into my life every day! And, while it is okay to let your garbage can be filled with all of this excess wrappings and trash, it is not okay to allow additional garbage to be dumped right into your life every day. If we are not careful other people will dump their personal garbage right into your mind on a daily basis! Let me clarify.

Today is a prime example of a sarcastic boss.
Yup, you guessed it I was the dumping ground.

We were in the midst of laying out the paper, a 20-page paper! The boss decides it can be condensed into a tight 16-page and instructs our graphic designer to make it so. Guess what, she doesn't tell me. Here I am with the instruction from my manager to double-check my ads for my special section and make sure all is correct and reflects the section as the Count On Us.
So here I am with 22 changes to send over to that same graphic designer. Who by the way decides to make those 22 changes before she completely relays out the paper! This puts everyone else at a standstill! The manager can't complete the press run, Circulation can't complete her layout, and Boss-lady can't submit the news.
So, guess who gets the reprimand for not following protocol? And why? Because she was already in a mood because the manager had told her that it should stay at a 20-page so that we didn't have to omit anything that was supposed to be included in this week's issue. So they had an argument and a falling-out. So, Yeah I was the fall guy.
And my response? If I had been told we were relaying the paper out as a 16-page and hadn't been told to get my changes over to graphic we wouldn't be at a standstill would we?
I refocused and continued my job of procuring ads for next weeks paper. And there was no more said about it. Hmmm wonder, why?

How often do we let other people’s actions change our mood? It usually just takes one or two people who are already in a miserable mood, to affect our own mood. If we stop and think about it, why would we let a rude driver, an unkind waiter, a sarcastic boss, or an insensitive fellow employee ruin our day? All of us are human and the challenges that we face from other people sometimes set us back and put us in a place that is difficult or discomforting. That is normal. However, I have come to see that the real mark of successful people is that they do not let everyone else’s problems get dumped on them and ruin their day. The secret lies in quickly getting your focus back on what is important in your own life and relationships.

I can promise you that within the next twenty-four hours, someone will want to use you as their dumping ground. Refuse to be it! It may shock you for a few seconds to realize that they would be willing to put that kind of poison and trash on you, but simply shake it off and step aside. Remember to keep your focus on your own mental and emotional well-being. Life is too short to let everyone dump their “stuff” on top of you. We must be careful not to simply stand there and take it. Simply smile and say, “I just remembered I have somewhere else I need to be or do!” (It is the truth – and it is away from them!)

It also goes without saying that we should never be the ones to dump our garbage on other people either. If it is necessary to talk with someone about a serious problem or an important concern, then find a professional counsellor and let them help with the issues at hand. It does no one any good to have the toxic waste of life dumped on them.

Look for a new way to view what is taking place in your life and develop it into a success story that will bless your personal life and that of those around you. Keep taking your real trash to the trash can and keep the other garbage out of your life!

Refuse to be the dumping ground!

Life can be challenging. Dr. Scott Peck, the famous Psychiatrist once said, “Life is hard and then you die.” That statement seems so pessimistic. His point was, however, that if we expect life to be anything else, we will be sorely disappointed.

And, even though I know Dr. Peck’s statement is true, I do not believe we can live our lives based solely on that premise. It is my belief that our personal attitude towards life’s situations is really the only thing that makes any difference. If we look at situations with a defeated, negative attitude, we will eventually give up and quit. However, if we focus on treating life like a marathon rather than a sprint and we keep a positive outlook in the process, we will be victorious in the end.

Recently, I came across a poem that sums up what I am trying to say. I believe these words will make a difference in your work and relationships if you put them into practice.

Don’t Quit!
(author unknown)

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When the care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.

Life is weird with its twists and its turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won, had he stuck it out.
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow,
You may succeed with another blow.

The distant goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor’s cup;
And he learned too late when the night came down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out;
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt;
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit,
It’s when things seem worst that you mustn’t quit!

Why not put the truth found in this poem into practice this week? Your biggest success may be just around the next corner. But, you will never know if you throw in the towel.

Learn to let your challenges bring you to a whole new level. Anything great in life always comes with a high price tag. With that in mind, get back to your next project and see it through to the end!

Tip: It’s okay to rest, but don’t quit!

Standing Strong
Monday, August 19,2019

For many people, apprehension, anxiety, manifests in the physical self as a potent feeling of heaviness even nausea situated in the depths of the lower abdomen. And it is there, that we must lovingly and deliberately confront the anxiety. By becoming more grounded into the deepest physical recesses of ourselves, we can cleanse ourselves of unease and replenish the space it has left behind with tranquil awareness. Much of what we encounter in our daily lives has the potential to cause trepidation within us or make us question whether we are truly in control of our lives. When we establish a shelter of peace within our core, we empower ourselves to act rather than react in distressing situations. That balance of becoming more grounded helps to respond productively to the turmoil around us while inwardly directed attention steadies us.

There are many ways to restore our strength and clear negative energy from our core. To ground ourselves and regain our emotional equilibrium, concentrate by picturing it as a funnel of vivid orange light. Reach down toward that light with your awareness and channel your breath within the space it occupies. As you balance the chakra, you will become more adaptive and thus better able to stand strong when faced with rapidly changing conditions. You can channel healing energy into your core by visualizing the area below your belly button as an open space into which you channel white, loving light. Like light and air, sound can be a wonderful tool that helps you find your center. Your voice, when drawn from your core in the form of a deep roar or loud shout, can be the vehicle upon which your anxiety is conveyed into the ether. Take a low stance, much like a football player, root your feet into the earth, and then roar like a lion. Really feel it in your belly. It may sound silly, but chances are you will feel much less anxious and much more grounded into your body.

A situation that seems hopeless when viewed from a perspective coloured by fear may become easily manageable when approached with a serene heart and mind. As you become grounded within your core, you'll discover that the trepidation and helplessness you feel is not invincible. Rather, it will respond readily to your efforts to eradicate it, leaving you feeling peaceful and capable of calmly handling any challenging circumstances that arise.

TODAY Is MY tomorrow. It's up to ME to shape it, To TAKE CONTROL and seize EVERY opportunity. The POWER is in the choices I make EVERY day. I eat well, I live well I SHAPE ME!

Discovery of Higher-Self - Signals From The Soul
Saturday, August 17, 2019

Even though you have accomplishments to be proud of and good friends, do you still feel disappointed in your life?
When you take a closer look there’s a painful and confusing gap between your deepest longings and your daily life that’s hard to reconcile, face and admit, even to yourself?
Do you ever ask yourself “Am I settling for only living a fraction of my potential”?

If you’re feeling this tug from the depth of your being, I want to reassure you that this is good news.
This feeling is a signal from your soul calling you to RISE to greatness.

For fifty-eight years I have had a pretty typical life. Things happened and happening and I cope with the best know-how I know. Then I discovered something really, really big. Now Everything Makes So Much More Sense.

“Right,” you may say. “Like that’s going to happen!” Well, it happened for me, and it can happen for you. I didn’t go to a religious retreat or seminar; I didn’t even go to a church. I went to my mind to talk with my soul.

I discovered our souls use our minds and our bodies to talk to us. And it signals us when it has something to say. All the things in my life I wanted to change were signals from my soul that there was something I came into this life to learn and I hadn’t learned it yet. And until I did, the signals would resist all my attempts to change them.

Your soul will have its own signals. It will tell you everything you need to know to learn what you came here to learn. All you have to do is know where to go to ask the right questions and take action on the answers. The information on this site is what is available to you when you talk with your soul.
There is a part of us that knows everything there is to know about us. It can tell us why we are in this world and where we were before we came to our present day. It can state both Universal Truths and the Personal Truths we need to know to get where we want to go. It can talk about the future, present, and our past. It can tell us about the people in our life – why we are involved with them, what we might want to learn from them, and what we have to teach them. It can help become closer in our relationships or cut the ties that bind us to them. This part knows a great deal more about you and me than any psychic ever could. Further, it can heal instantly, although it may take longer to allow, or even hold onto the healing. This part of you is you that always was and ever will be. It is your Higher Self….”
“The higher self is the greater whole of our soul – the highest level of our soul consciousness – the spiritual level of our soul. Some people call it the intuitive self, the oversoul, the Atman. I like to call it the higher self because it keeps it clear it’s the higher vibration of our own spirit.
“The higher self is not gullible; it is not influenced by our false beliefs or the false beliefs of others. It is not influenced by our emotions or our desires. It has ALL the knowledge our soul has gathered in all of its incarnations. It knows what is and is not the truth. It can put this truth into words we can understand and accept at our level of development. It is a direct link to the highest level of spiritual guidance. It is the direct link to The Source. It will interpret our dreams with greater accuracy and wisdom than we can.

“Learning to access and dialogue with our higher self to seek counsel and/or information, and learning to discern the messages that are coming from our higher self is the true purpose of every incarnated soul.”
Everything I learned revolves around the fact that the mind is the secret to everything. Our spirit, or soul, uses our mind to communicate with us. When we understand how the mind works we’re halfway to home base. When we learn how to access the mind, decode the signals to get the messages, and follow the instructions from our soul we score the run.

When we talk about the mind, we are not talking about the brain. They are not one and the same. While we are embodied our mind uses our brain to carry out the mental and physical functions of our body. When our body dies, the brain will die. But our spirit and our mind will not die. They will remain connected and everything that has ever happened to us in this lifetime and all past lifetimes will still be there, recorded in our mind.

There are three levels of the mind.

* The conscious mind is our everyday mind, so to speak. It steers the ship.
* The subconscious mind is like a vast storehouse of many parts. It’s the storehouse of our beliefs and of our emotions and of our memories. It’s the storehouse of nature’s programming – it’s where the cells of our body are programmed. It is also the transmitter and receiver of all spirit communication.
* The higher mind, or higher self, is the super consciousness part of our mind. If all three levels are not in agreement, we will be notified with a signal of physical and/or emotional dysfunction.

Acceptance Is A Gift Unto Itself
Friday, August 16, 2019
Giving and receiving are part of life's rhythmic pattern, and we each give and receive in our own ways. However, we can lose our balance when we try to be too controlling with one or the other. On the receiving end, we may feel that we aren't deserving of the effort made if what we gave was easy for us to give. But perhaps there too is a different lesson for us. We may be receiving not only gratitude but also the chance to see the world through another's eyes. We may learn that just because we gave simply and easily doesn't diminish its value. Or perhaps the universe is giving us an exemplification to hold close to our hearts, to encourage us on some future day when our own generous act of giving is not met with the responsive visible act of receiving. When we can allow ourselves to receive as well as give, we do our part to keep the passage of plenty open for ourselves and others.

Sometimes we may find ourselves struggling to respond to others' gifts--like responding to an expensive present with the feeling of obligation to reciprocate with something equally expensive, or feeling like we have to throw a dinner party for someone who has thrown one for us. But when these are done out of a sense of obligation, their energy changes from something that shares to something that drains instead. If this is sounding familiar, we can change it. We can decide next time to allow ourselves to receive with arms, minds and open hearts and simply say thank you.

Accepting a person's gift is a gift in itself. Sincere appreciation for their acknowledgement and their effort joins our energy with theirs in the passage of giving and receiving and nurtures everything and everyone involved. If ever we find we are still having difficulty, we can decide to allow ourselves to be conduits for gratitude and accept on behalf of a loving, giving universe.

TODAY Is MY tomorrow. It's up to ME to shape it, To TAKE CONTROL and seize EVERY opportunity. The POWER is in the choices I make EVERY day. I eat well, I live well I SHAPE ME!

THE EMPOWERED LIFE. EXPECT IT . BELIEVE IT. RECEIVE IT.

Looking Back; Then And Now
Thursday, August 15, 2019

When we look back at our pasts, knowing what we know now, it sure seems difficult to comprehend how and why we made the choices we made in error. This is because as we learn and gain new knowledge, it is nearly impossible to reenter the headspace we were in before we learned that information. For example, we look back at parents who spanked their kids and wonder how they could have possibly thought that was a good idea. Similarly, our own personal pasts are full of imperfect choices that we can't believe we ourselves made. We did things then that we would never do now. This is precisely because we now have knowledge that we didn't have, or have access to, then.

From ideas about how to raise children to how to treat the environment, our collective human past sometimes reads like a certified document of what not to do. In many ways, this is exactly as it should be. We learn from living experiences. It is from these past actions that we garner the information that guides us to live differently now. Just so, in our personal lives, we probably had to have a few unsuccessful relationships or jobs, learning about our negative tendencies through them, in order to gain the wisdom we have now.

In order to live more peacefully with the past, it helps to remember that once we know better, we tend to do better. Prior to knowing, we generally do our best, and while it's true that from the perspective of the present, our best doesn't always seem good enough, we can at least give our past selves the benefit of the doubt. We did our best with what knowledge we had. Beyond this, we serve the greater good most effectively by not dwelling on the past, instead of reigning our energy and knowledge into our present actions. It is here, at this moment, with our current knowledge that we create our reality and ourselves anew.

TODAY Is MY tomorrow. It's up to ME to shape it, To TAKE CONTROL and seize EVERY opportunity. The POWER is in the choices I make EVERY day. I eat well, I live well I SHAPE ME!

THE EMPOWERED LIFE. EXPECT IT . BELIEVE IT. RECEIVE IT.

PEOPLE!
IT'S NOT ABOUT EATING LESS AND EXERCISING MORE. IT NEVER WAS! THE WHOLE SECRET IS TO EAT THE RIGHT FOODS HIGH IN MICRO-NUTRIENTS AND EAT THE RIGHT AMOUNTS
Remember COMMITMENT, CONSISTENCY CONTROL
This is all about CONTROL!
It's NOT eating less exercise more and it`s not YOU OR I. The problem isn`t YOU OR ME, it`s the entrapment of all the programs out there with bad misleading information! Sure we lose the weight feel great but as soon as we veer even the slightest from the program what happens? We inevitably start regaining. And 99% of us will regain it all back and more!
What does this do to the body? It's worse than if we'd never lost at all because when we put it back on we are putting more weight not just visible on the outside but also on the inside of our bodies and into the blood vessels.
Because we are not eating the right foods and the required portions with these micro-nutrients we're always hungry What`s happening is that our bodies are giving us the wrong signals because we haven`t met the bodies requirement of micro-nutrient needs
And because we're always feeling hungry more often the only solution is to eat again.
Dr' Fuhrman says this is false hunger toxic hunger and that achieving micro-nutrient adequacy, we get back in touch with our true hunger. In achieving the right levels of micro-nutrients that our bodies require we lose the addiction to food, and actually, eliminate that constant nagging hunger far less often because we'll now be recognizing true hunger. We'll lose the weight naturally and lose it for the last time, eat with pleasure, never count calories, and eat as much as you desire, reverse our diabetes, lower our cholesterol without drugs, drop your blood pressure and rid yourself of heart disease, get rid of your pain and headaches, It could save your life. This is not just a weight loss program it is a lifestyle change for everyone who wants to protect their health.
And isn't that what we're all endeavouring to find Isn't that what we're all after?
And now that someone has found it, nailed it, our human nature is to what we're going to balk at it; be critical, skeptical? "It's too good to be true?" PHASHAW! Shame on us!
Because the actual truth of the matter is that all of these common diseases that afflict people today are not the natural consequences of ageing and are not predominantly genetic WE are in control of those things WE have lost the control and we`re taking it back!
NO This isn't just for me. This is and should be Universal and I'm sorry but Anything less has been and is selling us out! How many of you are feeling betrayed right now?!

Pure Undistracted Thought
Tuesday, August 13, 2019
When we make no effort at all, our thoughts usually scatter in an unlimited array of directions. They start and stop and move in surprising ways from one second to the next. If we try to follow our thoughts without controlling them, we will be amazed at how truly inconsistent they are. Yet, if we apply our minds to a specific task, especially one that interests us, they gather together and allow us to focus our attention, creating great power and energy. This is what is known as pure thought because it is undistracted.

The law of attraction--like attracts like--influences all energy, including our thoughts, and this is what makes pure thought so potent. Our undistracted thoughts create a powerful magnet that draws similar energy into our vibrational field. As a result, the longer we are able to hold positive thoughts in our minds, the more powerful the positive energy around us becomes. We don't need to focus on action and controlling so much when we are surrounded by energy that draws what we want toward us. We can simply respond to the opportunities that naturally come our way. When this is the essence of our experience, we can go with the flow, knowing that we will be okay.

If pure thought is a body, it is our emotions that supply the heart that can really bring it to life. Our thoughts and feelings exist in relation to one another, and they form a feedback loop through which they communicate and empower each other. When we hold a thought in our mind without being distracted, we have achieved pure thought. When we have a positive emotional response to that thought, we enable it to dance and move and breathe itself into existence.

The Other Side Of Self-Sabotage
Saturday, August 10, 2019

If we are not steadily moving in the direction of what we are wanting, we can be certain that we are sabotaging ourselves somewhere. As we come to understand the behaviours and patterns that underlie self-sabotage, we begin to free ourselves...we begin to allow ourselves to interact with ourselves and the world with greater success, joy, and fulfillment. Self-sabotage can be caused by any number of things or a combination of things. An internal war with denial, fear, anger, pain or other emotions.
Whatever form it takes - whether unhealthy behaviours or limiting thought patterns - self-sabotage always diminishes the passion and energy we need to fulfill our dreams. The process of breaking through leads to an ending of the internal war with yourself so that you can step fully into the greatest expression of yourself. Finding the wisdom inside the wounds you've endured is one of the most important conversations you'll ever have with yourself so that your future will have a new tone, a new vibration, and a new kind of passion, the ability to access your innate wisdom, and tangible action steps to help you make peace with your past and create radical shifts in your life. .
At the heart of the matter, because on the other side of it is the emotional freedom and depth of joy that you were born to have, it is possible to create as much love, fulfillment, success and joy as we feel worthy of having. By identifying how your inner saboteur is operating in your life, you can make radical progress toward that which you want.
Self-sabotage occurs when your logical, conscious mind (the side of you that says you need to eat healthily and save money) is at odds with your subconscious mind (the side of you that stress-eats chocolate and goes on online shopping binges). The latter is your anti-self -- that critical inner voice that seems to hold you back and sabotage your efforts.

Deep Patel tells us that Self-sabotage involves behaviours or thoughts that keep you away from what you desire most in life. It’s that internal sentiment gnawing at us, saying “you can’t do this.”

This is really your subconscious trying to protect you, prevent pain and deal with deep-seated fear. But the result of self-sabotage is that we hesitate instead of seizing new challenges. We forgo our dreams and goals. In the end, we know we missed out, but we don’t understand why.

So what can we do to stop the self-limiting behaviours?

One, we must first understand self-sabotage.

Many of us are engaged in self-destructive behaviours that have become habits. We allow these behaviours to continually undermine our success and happiness, but we may not even recognize that we’re doing it. Self-sabotage is when we do something that gets in the way of our intent, or of our bigger dreams and goals. We want something, but somehow we never accomplish it. Why? Because somewhere deep in our subconscious we’re fighting against that goal.
Your subconscious probably sees self-sabotage as self-preservation; a way to safeguard and defend yourself, even if it’s no longer needed. Some of our self-sabotage is so subtle it’s easy to miss. We often fail to recognize how our actions are hurting ourselves.
We don’t see how our disorganization distracts us, or how we’re constantly overthinking all of our decisions, leaving us practically paralyzed with inaction. We don’t realize that our reactions to situations end up causing bigger problems in the long run.

Secondly, we then need to Recognize self-sabotaging habits.
The first step to breaking the cycle of self-sabotage is becoming aware of these behaviours. Try looking at your behaviours as an outsider. What self-destructive habits, patterns and mindsets are holding you back?

Here are a few common self-sabotage habits to be aware of:

Procrastination. Instead of tackling an important project in a timely manner, you allow yourself to dawdle to the last minute. It’s hard to shine when you don’t give yourself time to fix mistakes or do a thorough job. Start setting deadlines and mini-deadlines to work toward your objective
Negative self-talk/negative thinking. Your inner dialogue is constantly critical. Are you chastising yourself for past mistakes? Are you constantly criticizing yourself? Be patient with yourself; be kind to yourself. Work to build yourself up.

Perfectionism. You tell yourself you can’t take action until the right time, or believe you need to perfect your skills before you move forward. These are forms of self-sabotage. Perfection is an impossible standard that keeps you from moving forward.

Next, we need to identify the root causes.

Many of us develop unhealthy ways of coping with stress. We repeatedly drop the ball on commitments or fail to take adequate care of ourselves, or we take our relationships for granted. We allow ourselves to react adversely to situations. But sometimes these things are so subtle that we can’t see how self-sabotage is at the root of many of our problems.
Often, self-destructive habits are rooted in our feelings of self-worth. You don’t feel like you deserve to be successful. You’re plagued with feelings of inadequacy, even when you’re trying to overcompensate by setting high goals for yourself. Some may even use self-sabotage as a twisted form of controlling their own fate.
It’s better to be at the helm of your failure than having unknown circumstances blindside you. Work on identifying and acknowledging what is causing you to sabotage yourself, and then start making changes to stop those behaviours.

Fourthly, Take time for self-reflection.

It takes serious self-reflection to understand why you keep shooting yourself in the foot in the first place. Taking the time to peel back the issues you seem to be inflicting on yourself can lead to a deeper awareness, as well as give you insights into yourself and your underlying motivations and desires.
The most successful people are those who take the time to think through their choices, decisions and actions. Successful people learn from what worked or failed to work. They then adjust their course of action by taking a different approach. Only through self-reflection will you gain the necessary insight, perspective and understanding to begin the process of change and transformation.

Find your inner positive voice.

Fear is often at the root of what holds us back. We fear that our inner critical voice is right. We start to worry that we don’t deserve happiness, aren’t tough enough or simply don’t have it in us. It’s time to put aside those harsh inner voices of "I can’t" or "I’m a failure."
That negative internal dialogue is a pattern of self-limiting thoughts. Start replacing that critical inner voice with positive, encouraging thoughts.
Once you start seeing the areas and ways in which you are limiting yourself, you can start effectively countering that behaviour. You can choose to not engage in self-sabotaging behaviour. You can start building positive behaviour and create an affirmative, confident voice to guide you.

Change your pattern of behaviour.

Changing our negative behaviours is fundamental if we are to stop sabotaging ourselves. In every moment, we’re taking action that either moves us toward or away from the person we want to be and the life we want to have. The behaviours you keep permitting yourself to do are the ones that are keeping you from what you most desire.
Consider how the actions you’re taking and the thoughts you’re thinking about the conflict with your happiness and hold you back from your true potential. Then look for ways to replace old patterns with new ones that are more helpful in achieving your goals.
At first, we may need to learn to change our behaviour by avoiding certain triggers such as negative people or challenging circumstances that cause us to react in unfavourable ways. If there is a stressful situation that triggers you to react in a negative way, look for ways to bypass or deflect while you learn healthy ways of handling the situation.

Make small, meaningful changes.

Once you’ve identified the changes you want to make, pick just one thing that you want to work on. Don’t try to make grand, sweeping changes all at once. That’s not realistic, and those huge alterations will be hard to maintain and easily given up. Instead, begin by making small, meaningful changes that you’ll slowly build to create larger transformations in your life.
If you realize you’re sabotaging your success by constantly missing deadlines, not following through with leads or simply being disorganized, take a step back and look for one small, meaningful change that you can make to set you on a more successful course.
If you’re disorganized or constantly getting off track from what you should be doing, take five minutes every morning to tidy your desk and write a to-do list. If you’re missing deadlines, sit down and come up with a reasonable timeline to get your project done. Then take steps to meet those goals, so you accomplish your objectives and build self-confidence.

And finally, Set goals and make plans.

We often struggle with self-sabotaging behaviour when we don’t know what to expect. The unknown can make us feel off-kilter and on unsure footing. Instead of moving forward with confidence, we respond to situations negatively. We allow ourselves to crumble, and then we retreat, feeling incompetent and incapable.
The best way to counter this is to lay down solid plans and goals for the future. By having firm, thoughtful plans for each step we take, we will feel more confident about our intentions and what we’re doing. You can do this on a daily level -- thinking through how you’ll respond to situations, people and circumstances.

Deep Patel says "By doing these eight things, you can actually take control of your life and banish self-sabotaging behaviour."

Staying Balanced And On Track
Friday, August 09, 2019

We have routines for nearly everything in our lives--our work routine and even the drive there is pretty much the same route every day. We have our physical fitness regimen, and our weekday schedule--it's amazing how many people forget to create a routine for meeting their spiritual needs. We run around in an attempt to be at our many appointments on time and meet our many obligations. In our efforts to be as productive as possible, however, our spiritual needs tend to take a backseat. After all, taking care of our spiritual needs doesn't directly pay the bills or tone our abdominal muscles. We may even wonder who has time to meditate or write in their journals when there are more pressing matters to attend to. The truth is that nurturing ourselves spiritually is what gives us the energy and grounding that we need to make sure that our lives are balance and on track.

Of course, how you choose to nurture yourself spiritually is a personal choice. For some people, meditating once a day may be what they need to stay centered. While spending 10-20 minutes with your eyes closed and your brain devoid of thought may seem like a lot of time doing nothing, this state of nothingness actually allows you to stay calm and focused so you can be as productive as possible. Writing in your journal everyday lets you stay in touch with yourself so that you are always tuned in to your feelings. Repeating affirmations for success, happiness, and well-being on a regular basis can help you live with optimism and enthusiasm and create what you want in life.

Having a routine for nurturing your spirit that you do each day lets you feed energy to your soul and can serve you well if your life suddenly takes an unexpected turn into a difficult period. This kind of routine grounds your spirit in your body so that you stay anchored in yourself as you move through each day. Nurturing yourself spiritually allows you to not only stay on track in your life, but it allows for your life to stay on track with what your spirit wants.

The Heart of The Unknown
Thursday, August 08, 2019

The question of who we are is a seed that can bear much fruit if given the chance to unfold.

At some point in our lives, or perhaps at many points in our lives, we ask the questions, "Who am I? What is my purpose here?" We know our birth names, where we come from and where we are at present. When we begin asking these questions we are looking beyond the obvious, beyond our names and the names of the cities and country we came from, and into the layers beneath our surface identities. We feeling the need for a deeper sense of purpose in our lives, or we may be ready to accommodate a more complex understanding of the situation in which we find ourselves. Whatever the case, the question of who we are is a seed that can bear much fruit.

It can send us on an exploration of our ancestry, or the past lives of our soul. It can call us to take up journaling in order to discover that voice deep within us that seems to know the answers to a multitude of questions. It can draw our attention so deeply inward that we find the spark of spirit that connects us to every living thing in the universe.

While there are people who seem to come into the world knowing who they are and why they are here, for the most part, their human journey appears to be very much about asking this question and allowing its answers to guide us on our paths. So when we find ourselves in the heart of the unknown, this gives us faith that we are in a very human place, as well as a very divine one. "Who am I?" is a timeless mantra, a Zen; a paradoxical anecdote or riddle without a solution that leads us into the part of our minds that finally lets go of questions and answers, ultimately designed to lead us home, and finds the ability to simply be.

Are you home yet? I am.

Protection From Negative Energies
Wednesday, August 07, 2019
I'm sure we've all experienced times when we've found that being around certain individuals or even groups of people that it has left us feeling very uncomfortable. It may be that spending time with a particular friend feels draining or that dealing with a specific coworker exhausts you or that being surrounded by a crowd of people lowers your energy levels rather than perks you up. This is not that unusual. Being around toxic or angry people can literally feel like our energy is being siphoned from us.
Each of us radiates energy and is capable of being affected, even influenced by the energy of other people. So, it is important to learn how to shield ourselves so that we don't unknowingly take on someone else's energy. While some people know how to instinctively protect themselves from being adversely affected by negative energy, most of us need to discover and practice the technique that works best.

I have found there are ways to avoid being affected by people's negative energy. Shielding is one preventative technique I use. Center yourself and envision being enveloped in a cocoon of loving and protective light. This protective layer should allow you to consciously regulate the energy around you. The intent to shield oneself is pretty much all you need for this technique to work. You can even create a trigger word to assist you in quickly creating that shield. Say this word each time you create a new shield until the word and the shield become automatically associated in your mind. If you run into a person whose energy you find draining, you may want to cleanse your own energy field after your encounter. Sage, cold showers, singing, mineral water baths, spending time in nature, and a simple break to recharge are all ways to accomplish this.

While it is important to know how to shield one's self from negative energy, there are those energies that you won't want to shut out. The energy of laughter from a newborn baby, (my favourite) the feeling of joy radiating from someone in love, and the frequency of calm that emanates from nature are just some of the energies coming from others that you may want to have around you.

Feeling Significant
Tuesday, August 06, 2019
Most living things belong to a particular soul group and are born knowing their purpose in life. An animal will spend its day foraging for food, taking care of itself creating a home and baring its young. No one tells an animal to do this, yet it instinctively knows how. It's their sole purpose since the time of creation. Humans, on the other hand, even though created for a purpose and with instinct are not born consciously knowing their fulfilment of purpose.

Purpose, of course, gives our life meaning. When we discover our purpose, you can then live our lives with intention and make choices that serve our objective for why we are here. Finding our purpose, however, is not always easy. We must embrace life wholeheartedly, explore many different pathways, and allow ourselves to grow. Our purpose is as unique as we are as individuals and will evolve as we move through life. We don't need anyone's permission to fulfill our purpose, and no one can tell us what that purpose is. Finding and fulfilling our purpose can be a lifelong endeavour.

To figure out what your purpose is, ask yourself what drives you – not what forces you out of bed in the morning, but what makes you glad to be alive. Make a list of activities that you wish you were involved in or think about a career path that you would love to embark upon. These are the endeavours that can help you fulfill your purpose and bring you the most satisfaction.

Picture yourself working on projects that don't interest you or fulfill your purpose, yet they help satisfy your basic survival needs. Imagine how living this way each day would make you feel.

Next, picture yourself devoting your time to projects that spark your imagination, inspires, excites, and satisfies you. More often than not, these activities are some of the ways that you can fulfill your life purpose. Time spent on these endeavours will never feel like a waste. Live your life with purpose, and you will feel significant and capable because every action you take and each choice you make will have meaning to it.

TODAY Is MY tomorrow. It's up to ME to shape it, To TAKE CONTROL and seize EVERY opportunity. The POWER is in the choices I make EVERY day. I eat well, I live well I SHAPE ME!

Our Bodies Do Not Lie

As living beings, our bodies deserve loving attention and care. It is possible that we can positively affect our health, prevent illness, and heal injuries by regularly focusing our mental and spiritual energy within the functions of our bodies.

Begin by lying in a comfortable position and taking three deep cleansing breaths. Imagine, if you will, a sunbeam entering from the top of your head. Feel it slowly screening each part of your internal body. Allow it to scan every cell in your body and keep breathing. Every time you exhale, blow out negative energy you may feel. Being tuned in you should notice any changes in your body. Sensations may vary from person to person of course. You may feel a shift in body temperature, see a colour or flash of light, or hear a voice offering you guidance. If you feel a block in a certain area of your body, sit with that block and feel into it. Ask your body why that block is there and what you need to do to release it. Try not to judge or analyze the wisdom that comes to you. Often, we experience energy blocks in our body because our body is trying to tell us something. You may want to breathe into that area until you feel the block dissolving. When you have finished your scan, take one last deep breath and exhale any energetic residue that you are ready to release.

The body doesn't lie, and it has much wisdom to share with us. Any injuries or blocks that exist in our bodies are there so that we can learn from having them in our bodies. An existing injury can teach us to slow down or help us recognize that something is out of balance in our bodies. The more you scan your body, the better you will become at it. If you sense that something is not right in your body, you may want to visit a doctor and tell them about your experience. When you have finished your scan, don't forget to thank your wonderful, amazing body.

We All Need A Treehouse!
Sunday, August 04, 2019

How many of you hold dear the fond memories of a treehouse or clubhouse, or having a fort when you were kids? For me, there was no greater way to escape the troubles of daily life than to ascend into the welcoming embrace of a treehouse. Like a bird in its nest, we feel held and safe in the branches, cloaked within a curtain of green leaves. There I could breathe more freely and think more clearly, my heart and brain were fed by the oxygen released by the leaves. I could float above the everyday world of the ground, enjoying a birds-eye view of all that remains below.

It was my refuge. It was my haven where I could fully be who I was or dream of who and what I wanted to be; shed the masks required by the world below, and reveal my most hidden secrets, dreams, and desires. It was also an ideal vantage point on the life that continues below the branches. And often, a new view of a situation was just what I needed to answer a difficult question, solve a challenging problem, or see something I'd been missing. It is as I were ascended into the heavens and was able to tap into a higher awareness and I drew on this airy energy to revitalize me, relax and feed in new ideas. When I descended, I was ready to enter the world again, cleaner, clearer, and often more inspired.

I know we`re all a whole lot older now but, if you never been in a literal treehouse, now`s maybe the time to experience the experience. If you can't find or create an actual treehouse, think of other venues that could provide the same experience; a rooftop perch, a quiet spot in a grove of trees on a hilltop, a light-filled attic. Or just close your eyes and visualize yourself ensconced in your perfect home in the branches of your favourite tree and free your mind body and spirit for a while.

Trust me, you`ll bring back that feeling of energetic today and enjoy a sense of enthusiasm for your work or personal projects. And since your good mood is now likely fueling your energy, you might want to set aside time to enjoy activities that make you feel happy and enhance your feelings of joy. You could read a book that makes you laugh, dig your hands into the earth and plant some beautiful flowers, or spend time being playful with close friends. You can also spend time in further meditation today, focus on the happiness you feel, and visualize it growing larger and larger until it spreads into every facet of your life. Then you can focus on those goals and allow your joy to infuse every task.

Because infusing our actions with a spirit of joy and enthusiasm lends creative power to our goals. Just as negative energy has the ability to weigh us down, positive energy has the ability to energize and motivate us. Most often, it is our mood and mind-set that makes the biggest difference regarding the energy we emanate. Choosing to foster thoughts of joy will make us feel lighter, and we become more inspired to give our best effort to our goals. Since each task we perform becomes imprinted with our energy, we can further our goals by consciously approaching them with a positive attitude. This ultimately lends powerful creative energy to the outcome we desire. Your goals can take on a new level of energy and excitement if you embrace thoughts of joy and allow them to infuse your activities today.

Loving Ourselves First

The most important relationship we will ever have in our life is with our selves.

The most important relationship we have in our lives is with ourselves. And even though we are the only ones who are present at every moment of our lives--from birth onward--this relationship can be the most difficult one to cultivate. This may be because society places such emphasis on the importance of being in a romantic partnership, even teaching us to set aside our own needs for the needs of another. Until we know ourselves, however, we cannot possibly choose the right relationship to support our mutual growth toward our highest potential. By allowing ourselves to be comfortable with ourselves, we can become the people with whom we want to have a relationship.

Perhaps at no other time in history has it been possible for people to survive, and even thrive, while living alone. We can now support ourselves financially, socially, and emotionally without needing a spouse for survival in any of these realms. With this freedom, we can pursue our own interests and create fulfilling partnerships with friends, business partners, creative cohorts, and neighbours. Once we've satisfied our needs and created our support system, a mate then becomes someone with whom we can share the bounty of all we've created and the beauty we've discovered within ourselves.

As we move away from tradition and fall into more natural cycles of being in the world today, we may find that there are times where being alone nourishes us and other periods in which a partnership is best for our growth. We may need to learn to create spaces to be alone within relationships. When we can shift the expectations of our relationships with ourselves and others to opportunities for discovery, we open ourselves to forge new paths and encounter uncharted territory. Being willing to know and love ourselves, and to find what truly makes us feel deeply and strongly, gives us the advantage of being able to attract and choose the right people with whom to share ourselves, whether those relationships fall into recognizable roles or not. Choosing to enjoy being alone allows us to fully explore our most important relationship--the one with our true selves.

By Doing This Daily

I don't think most people fully realize that we all have within us the ability to co-create our lives with the universe. So many of us are taught to accept what we are given and not even to dream of anything more. But did you know that our hopes and dreams are actually the universe whispering to us, planting the ideas of what's possible while directing us toward the best use of our gifts? The universe truly wants to give us our hearts' desires, but we need to be clear about what they are and quite literally, ask for them.

To ask for something does not mean we have to beg, plead or grovel from a place of lack or unworthiness. It's like placing an order--we don't need to beg the salesperson for what we want or prove to them that we deserve to have it. We tell them what we want. Once we have a clear vision of what we desire, we simply step into the silent realm where all possibilities exist and let our desires be known. Whatever methods we use to become still, it is important that we find the quiet space between our thoughts.

From that still and quiet place, we can announce our intentions to the pure energy of creation. By imagining all the details from every angle, including scent, color, and how it would feel to have it, we design our dreams to our specifications. Similar to dropping a pebble into a pond, the ripples created by our thoughts travel quickly from this place of stillness, echoing out into the world to align and orchestrate all the necessary details to bring our desires into manifestation. Before leaving this wonderful space to come back to the world, release any attachment to the outcome and express gratitude. By doing this daily, we focus our thoughts and our energy while regularly mingling with the essence that makes it possible to build the life of our dreams.

POX on Negative Self-talk!
Wednesday, July 31, 2019
Our potential is limited only by our level of self-belief.

Every time we interact with our inner dialogue, we have the choice to listen to, acknowledge, and let go, or we can take what it is saying personally.
In order to take something personally, we must read negative intent into those words or actions.
If we attempt to take everything personally, nine times out of ten we'll end up feeling discouraged, disheartened, down on ourselves and hurt. And for what reason? Does it help or hinder? Is it immoral illegal or life-threatening?
Kick it to the curb!
You're only reinforcing some insecurity within yourself.
We should never let our own perceptions or actions affect how we see ourselves or our worth. Your life is personal to you, and it is up to you to influence your own value and sense of well-being.

TODAY Is MY tomorrow. It's up to ME to shape it, To TAKE CONTROL and seize EVERY opportunity. The POWER is in the choices I make EVERY day. I eat well, I live well I SHAPE ME!

Trains Are Like People
Tuesday, July 30, 2019
Train rails they crisscross the countryside and cut through our cities capturing people’s imaginations. Just the idea of taking a ride on a luxury train, an express commuter line, even a cargo train can often evoke a sense of freedom, adventure, or romance. Trains are like people in that they must inevitably arrive at their destinations. They make scheduled and unscheduled stops along the way and move at their different speeds. Some trains can travel for hours and are mindful of only a single destination; other trains meander from busy stop to busy stop. The route and purpose of any train may change as the years go by.

Our lives are much like train tracks, stretching out in front and behind us and we are the train, its passengers, and the engineer. The way you choose to live your life and the goals you are working toward are the route and destinations we have chosen. Like passengers riding a train, we have the choice to get on and off, find new routes, pick new places to visit, or just stop and enjoy the view for a while. Perhaps some of you like to move quickly through life as if you were an express train. Or maybe, like a commuter passenger, you like taking the same routes over and over again. You may even want to stop just riding along and choose a different direction you’d like your life to take.

If you have examined the tracks of your life and are feeling unsatisfied, you may want to explore changes you could make to find a more fulfilling path to follow. Perhaps you’d like to slow down a little bit more and take a windier path rather than just travelling down the straight and narrow. Or maybe, you’d like to experience your life more as an adventure rather than just a ride that gets you where you need to go. Changing your route can sometimes give you a chance to “get on the right track.” You may even discover that the something new you’ve been waiting for is just around the bend.

Which train are you? Have you derailed? Is it time to reroute, get back on track?

Sharing Our Gifts
Sunday, July 28, 2019
We all have a genius within us and when one of us doesn’t develop or use our special gift, a cosmic void takes place.

Each of us is born with a specific genius that was bestowed upon us so we can do our part to help make our world a better place. All of us have a role that we’re uniquely suited for. Imagine our planet without trees, oceans, or clouds. In this same way, when one of us doesn’t develop or use our special gift, a cosmic void takes place.

Each of our unique talents and abilities blends together like a golden treasure buried under shifting sands. Often, we spend so much time dazzled by the talents of others that we can overlook our own gifts. It may even be that our unique ability is something we view negatively. Perhaps we find it difficult concentrating on any one subject for long; meanwhile, others are thrilled by our ability to weave various ideas throughout our conversations. Or, you might think of yourself as “frivolous,” when it’s likely your charming approach to life casts a light of inspiration that others can’t help but follow. It’s important for all of us to try to find our special gifts and discover how we can best express them with each other.

Whistle While You Work.

Here are some ways of dealing with the burdens of life:

1* Accept that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue.
2* Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat them.
3* Always read stuff that will make you look good if you die in the middle of it.
4* Drive carefully. It's not only cars that can be recalled by their Maker.
5* If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.
6 * If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.
7 * It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.
8 * Never buy a car you can't push.
9* Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time, because then you won't have a leg to stand on.
10* Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance.
11* Since it's the early worm that gets eaten by the bird, sleep late.
12 * The second mouse gets the cheese.
13* When everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.
14* Birthdays are good for you. The more you have, the longer you live.
15* You may be only one person in the world, but you may also be the world to one person.
16* Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.
17* We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull.
Some have weird names and all are different colours, but they all have to live in the same box.
18* A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.

Imaginary Obstacles; The Boogeyman
Friday, July 26, 2019
Imaginary obstacles are insurmountable. Real ones aren't. But you can't tell the difference when you have no real information. Fear can create even more imaginary obstacles than ignorance can.

I think every day, our alter ego should be the Mediator, whose superpower for negotiation lies in our innate ability to create the right chemistry within a particular situation. We are a continual work in progress, striving for equality, balance and compatibility -- driven by our innate sense of fairness. This provides a certain degree of predictability in our actions and is a recipe for success. As in all things truly worthwhile in life, love is an art, sketched and painted atop a canvas of mutual respect. Such a foundation allows only for the occasional brush stroke to cover a mixed message or misunderstanding and avoid the use of the paint roller. Take it one day at a time, valuing all things with such an openness as to provide not only the proper balance but to allow for proper action when needed.

In The Midst of Heartache

The last thing most of us want to hear or think about when we are dealing with profound feelings of sadness is that deep learning can be found in this place. In the midst of our pain, we often feel picked on by life, or overwhelmed by the enormity of some loss, or simply too exhausted to try and examine the situation. We may feel far too disappointed and angry to look for anything resembling a bright side to our suffering. Still, somewhere in our hearts, we know that we will eventually emerge from the depths into the light of greater awareness. Remembering this truth, no matter how elusive it seems, can help.

The other thing we often would rather not hear when we are dealing with intense sadness is that the only way out of it is through it. Sitting with our sadness takes the courage to believe that we can bear the pain and the faith that we will come out the other side. With courage, we can allow ourselves to cycle through the grieving process with full inner permission to experience it. This is a powerful teaching that sadness has to offer us--the ability to surrender and the acceptance of change go hand in hand.

Another teaching of sadness is compassion for others who are in pain because it is only in feeling our own pain that we can really understand and allow for someone else's. Sadness is something we all go through, and we all learn from it and are deepened by its presence in our lives. While our own individual experiences of sadness carry with them unique lessons, the implications of what we learn are universal. The wisdom we gain from going through the process of feeling loss, heartbreak, or deep disappointment gives us access to the heart of humanity.

Another stepping stone

Trees grow up by spreading their branches and down through their roots. As they do, they shed the bark that served to protect them but now is no longer big enough to contain them. In the same way, we create boundaries and develop defences to protect ourselves and then, at a certain point, we outgrow them. If we don't allow ourselves to shed the protective layers we have outgrown, we stunt our growth and can't expand to our full potential.

Trees need their protective bark to enable the delicate process of growth and renewal to unfold without threat. Likewise, we need our boundaries and defences so that the more vulnerable parts of ourselves can safely heal and unfold. But our growth also depends upon our ability to soften, loosen, and shed boundaries and defences we no longer need. It is often the case in life that structures we put in place to help us grow eventually become constricting.

Unlike a tree, we must consciously decide when it's time to "shed our bark" and expand our boundaries, so we can move forward into our next ring of growth. Many spiritual teachers have suggested that our egos don't disappear so much as they become large enough to hold more than just our small sense of self--the boundary of self widens to contain people and beings other than just "me." Each time we shed a layer of defensiveness or ease up on a boundary that we no longer need, we metaphorically become bigger people. With this in mind, it is important that we take time to question our boundaries and defences. While it is essential to set and honour the protective barriers we have put in place, it is equally important that we soften and release them when the time comes. In doing so, we create the space for our next phase of growth.

Our lives are made of stepping stones, one experience after another in perfect and divine order.

The years of our life do not arrive all at once; they greet us day by day. With the descent of each setting sun, we are able to rest our heads and let the world take care of itself for a while. We may rest assured throughout the night, knowing that the dawn will bring with it a chance to meet our lives anew, donning fresh perspectives and dream-inspired hopes. The hours that follow, before we return to sleep once more, are for us to decide how we want to live and learn, laugh and grow. Our lives are sweeter and more manageable because we must experience them this way: one day at a time.

Imagine the future stretching out before you and try to notice if you feel any tension or overwhelm at the prospect of the journey still to come. Perhaps you have recently made a lifestyle change, like beginning a new diet or quitting smoking, and the idea of continuing this healthy new behaviour for years seems daunting. Maybe you have started a new job or are newly married and can feel an undercurrent of anxiety about your ability to succeed. If you can shift your focus from what may happen years down the line and return it to the day that is before you right now, you may find a measure of calm and renewed confidence in your capabilities. You may also discover an inner faith that the future will take care of itself.

The way we show up for our lives today and tomorrow has an enormous effect on who we will be and what we will be experiencing years from now. If we can remain fully engaged in the day at hand, enjoying all it has to offer and putting our energy into making the most of it, we will find that we are perfectly ready and capable to handle any future when it arrives

Alright people I think you get the drift after reading my comments on today's huddle board. Let's just say I'm totally fed up with being MY/OUR own stumbling blocks more often than I/WE need to be.
It's called re-dedication and actually being serious about getting healthy!
Question: Why do we drag it out like we do Why do we deliberately sabotage ourselves? We or most of us already have enough inhibitions! Why do we add to them? We all know what it does to us in mind body and spirit; the discouragement etc and who do we blame and all the lame excuses we make to make it ok? To make us feel better about it. Everything including the kitchen sink for crying out loud. I don't know 'bout y'all but Enough is enough!

Gotta question for ya.

Have you have ever leased or owned a vehicle? Have you ever thought about the required insurance, repairs and maintenance related to the responsibility of owing a vehicle? Accordingly, if purchasing a used car, wouldn’t you expect to pay more for a well-maintained car and less for a car with multiple repairs?

Well, you have owned a vehicle since the day you were born. However, there is no warranty and no option to trade-in. This vehicle is your body, and you will only receive 1 in a lifetime. Your body requires insurance, maintenance and repairs to carry you through a lifetime. Paying more attention to maintaining the general health of your body will improve the quality of your current and future life. Accordingly, maintaining good health will result in a higher quality of life than repairing health.

We all know that you only get one body in this life, but do your actions and choices reflect this knowledge? We all know that habitual exercise and healthy eating will result in a healthier body, but does your lifestyle reflect this knowledge? We all know that being healthy and fit feels good, but do your views on health and fitness reflect this knowledge?

It is time to take responsibility for your health and fitness. View this responsibility as power, not hardship. Maintaining and/or improving your health benefits YOU. You have the power of choice, to affect your health and the way you age. Choosing to stay active today and tomorrow, results in maintaining the ability to be fit and active as you age. Choosing to make both nutrition and taste priorities when eating will result in a healthier life as you age.

A fallacy persists, that as you age, you must slow down and your health must decrease. This is not true. There is no predetermined fate for everyone. You can make the decision today to ease into old age while maintaining your quality of life, or you can choose to ease into old age with the assistance of a cane or walker. The choice is yours. This is where the old “use it or lose it” adage comes into play.

Older people who lead healthy active lifestyles today were once younger people who led healthy active lifestyles. There is no magic trick or secret involved. They simply chose to make maintaining their health, fitness and body, a priority throughout their lives.

Be honest with yourself. How important is your health and fitness to you and your family? Does your lifestyle reflect your values on health and fitness? How do you want to ease into old age?

Do you want a cane, a walker or to maintain a fit and active lifestyle? It seems like a simple choice, but what decision does your current lifestyle reflect? I choose to get stronger and healthier as I ease in to old age and my current lifestyle reflects my decision and values.

It is never too late to improve your health and your future quality of life. Remember you only get 1 body in this life. Take responsibility for your health today, and use your power of choice to create a healthy and fit body to last a lifetime.

TODAY Is MY tomorrow. It's up to ME to shape it, To TAKE CONTROL and seize EVERY opportunity. The POWER is in the choices I make EVERY day. I eat well, I live well I SHAPE ME!

It's easy to forget sometimes that everyone has a story if we would only take the time to listen. We are so accustomed to hearing the stories of people in the news that we lose track of the fact that that random stranger on the bus also has a fascinating story about where they came from and how they got to be where they are. The sheer variety of paths taken in this world, from farmers to CEOs, from homeless people to world travellers, is indicative of how much we can learn from each individual. Sometimes the shy, quiet person at work has the most amazing life story and the biggest dreams, it is up to us to take the time to find out.

Some people travel a path of wealth and privilege, while others struggle with only themselves to rely on, none the less, both have great stories to tell. Each person learns lessons, makes choices, and develops a unique perspective, which only they can claim and share. Even two people who have had very similar lives will have slightly different experiences, leading them to a different point of view, so each person remains a treasure trove waiting to be explored. When we take the time to ask questions and listen, we find that every person has a fascinating story to tell and an utterly unique perspective from which to tell it.

Bearing this in mind, we have the opportunity to approach the world around us in a new way. There is never any reason to be bored at a party, or on the bus, or in a conversation with a stranger. When we retain the spark of curiosity and the warmth required to open someone up, we always have in front of us the makings of a great story. All we have to do is ask.

What's your story? What brought you here?

Physician, Heal Thyself
Monday, July 15, 2019
We as human beings carry within us the seed of healing. Our choices affect us more than we realize, and it is because of this that we tend to place responsibility for our wellness in the hands of others. As beneficial as regular visits to a healer can be, we forget that we have the power within to heal ourselves. When we dedicate a day to the pursuit of wellness, we are able to relax and renew ourselves in a nourishing and comfortable environment. We forget that a sincere desire to open ourselves to the highest realities of our physical and spiritual selves is the key to self-healing. This allows healing energy to freely flow unimpeded.

A self-healing day should be directed to the vital needs of the self as a whole while directing healing energy where it is needed most. Solitude is an important part of the process as is the ability to take refuge in a space that is both beautiful and peaceful. Start your healing day by setting the intention that you are dedicating this time to healing yourself. Include Flowers, candlelight, incense, and music to guide your focus toward a more tranquil state. For a more intense session, try listening to music through headphones since tuning out can help you tune in. It is up to us to decide what we need to do to cultivate wellness in our lives. For some, it may be time spent in reflection. Others will turn to calming activities that help them remember their purpose, such as journal writing, being in nature, or studying. Our healing may even take a more direct form as we use colour, sound, or crystals to balance and ground ourselves.

Ultimately, your wholesome intentions transform what might otherwise be a simple day of rest into a day of healing. Grant yourself permission to relax and savour the stillness. If you attune yourself to the calm around you, worldly distractions will be minimized and the unadulterated flow of your consciousness will reestablish itself in the forefront of your mind. The needs of the body, the heart, and the soul will then be revealed to you, empowering you to tap into the essential healing energy of the universe. The mechanism you use to channel this energy will be dependent on your shifting requirements, so each day of healing you enjoy will be unique. All will replenish you, however, allowing you to recreate yourself in a perfect image of health.

Let us make our future now, and let us make our dreams tomorrow’s reality. Malala Yousafzai

Whether it's needing to lose 10, 20, 50 or 100 pounds, everyone has a goal that he or she wants to accomplish — and the closer you get to yours, the more I want everyone to know about it! The best way to get the positive vibes out to everyone is to talk about it and share it with your other team members! It's the perfect place not only to give motivation but also to find it!
Here's what one of my teammates says about her success so far:
I started gaining a lot of weight after I hit 30 and didn't really notice it until my big jeans got really tight. That happened when I quit smoking the first time, needless to say, it didn't stick and I was a smoker again within a few months. The only problem with that was I didn't lose the weight just because I started smoking again.
I finally joined a Biggest Loser competition at a local gym and started losing size but not pounds and I thought I was doing great until I heard Jillian say on the show that if you don't see a loss on the scale you weren't losing. That was hard for me to hear, especially since I thought I was doing everything I could to be healthy and lose weight. I had even quit smoking again. Turns out I wasn't eating right, I was eating healthy just not right. So I got my food on the right track and lost 9 pounds in the last 2 weeks of the competition. I didn't win but my body has changed and I am starting to feel better.
It took me 15 weeks to find the right combination of food and exercise to start dropping the weight and I got really discouraged a few times, but I didn't quit and I am a better happier person. No matter how I felt I went to my workouts, and I only missed one because I got stuck at work.
If you make the commitment to do this then just do it, believe me when I say not giving up makes living the healthy life so much easier. Giving up and being unhealthy after you've made the commitment just makes you feel worse than you did when you started.
An added bonus: I have a 5-year-old daughter and since I've been doing this she is all about being healthy and fit. I love that because obesity runs rampant in my family, I was one of the lucky ones that didn't gain any weight until my 30s and I stopped it before it got out of control.
Make the commitment to live life and not just watch from the sidelines." – jordys_mom
Have you reached a milestone in your journey? Talk about it on the Message Boards! Or do you have a success story you want me to know about? Post your story here!

Release the Past

I don't care if you were the fat kid in high school, or the black sheep of the family, or the lazy teenager who hated exercise. Forget it — let it all go! Those old identities are not serving you in the present, and they certainly aren't going to help you achieve your goals for the future. If you let go of old conceptions of yourself, you can maintain an open mind and be open to all possibilities. It is imperative that you let go of the past in order to re-create yourself in the present.

One day you will tell your story of how you overcame and it will be someone else's survival guide.

Eliminating Useless Negativity

A key element of changing attitude is changing self-talk or internal monologue. Self-talk is that chattering conversation we all have with ourselves all day long, whether you are aware of it or not. It's the voice in your head that says, "I'm too fat" or "I'm not good enough." I don't need to go on, do I? You know what I'm talking about!
It's this kind of useless negativity that keeps you from being the best that you can be. Well, it's time to turn it around once and for all. You need to retrain yourself to think positive!

Imagine what would happen if you changed the dialogue so that it sounded more like this: "I can lose weight and be healthy, exercise to the best of my ability, and get stronger and better at it every time I do it." Your self-talk can make the difference between happiness and despair, success and failure. I can promise you that if you start making your self-talk more positive and affirming — and less defeatist and self-deprecating — your whole life will change for the better.

Rewrite Your Thoughts
Now that you know how important it is to have the right attitude in order to reach your goals, pull out your journal again. Review what you wrote last week. Doesn't it feel good to read the positive thoughts? Don't you just cringe when you read the negative ones? Start retraining yourself. Change all the negative thoughts to positive ones. For example, take "I feel so gross when I eat the whole bag of chips" and turn it into "When I eat healthily, I feel great. And when I feel great, I look great." Hang in there — before you know it, you'll be able to "rewrite" negative thoughts in your mind

Accentuate the POSITIVE!
Friday, July 12, 2019
Yep, today is the day. The first day of the rest of your life!
Today is dedication day to be dedicated to self-improvement. We have been given the tools so let's get started! These will change everything about you!

Do you have a checklist? If you don't it's a good thing to have.

My Checklist

Here's the way I look at things.

I Finish each day and be done with it. I have done what I could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; I forget them as soon as I can. Tomorrow is a new day, I shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with the old nonsense.

Finish each day before you begin the next, interpose a solid wall of sleep between the two.
Out with the old onward with the new!
TOMORROW HAS NO MISTAKES IN IT!

And tomorrow I will
Wake up and say, “I’m having a great day!”
I Breathe in through my nose, deeply filling up my chest, then out through my mouth. Then I head forward with confidence, to the bathroom.
Splash my face with water.
Brush my teeth.
Look in the mirror and smile at myself.
Say: "The day is mine!"
And think of at least one thing I'm grateful for.
I try to remember to catch myself saying negative things about myself throughout the day.
And I ask myself if they are true or false.
If they are false, I say the opposite thing to it.
If they are true, I change how I treat myself. I Do not put myself down. Instead, I say, “I can change these things and make my life better."
Any time I am presented with a problem I will find my opportunity.
After my first smile, I say, “Hello inner voice.”
And I repeat the following affirmation: “I am honest and truthful with myself. I love myself and treat myself in a healthy manner.”
I have learned that before I make a decision, stop for a second, listen to your inner voice and check myself.
Throughout the day, I now find myself smiling more!.
I use my inner voice to do a lot of what I do now!.
When I forget I take notice and change the behaviour.
I also ask myself What is one thing I can do for myself today now that I like myself more?
My biggest downfall is to remember to drink water! I’ve read it, I know it, so now do it!
I have also started to take two to ten minutes a day to make something better in my life.

DO IT! Do it every day and accumulate the benefits.
I also glance in the mirror during the day to ask myself, “How am I?” I then make it practise/habit to shake off any negativity and say to myself, “My attitude is my decision.”
When I do the above any time I catch myself out of control, I go back to the mirror and say, “My attitude is my decision, and I am deciding to have a good one.”
I've also noticed that I have started to pay attention to excuses. Because behind excuses are failures.
Get rid of excuses, and you re-create yourself. I change my sentences from, “It isn’t my fault” to “It is my fault,” and I'm doing something about it.
I've started keeping a list of all my excuses.
And I now attack one excuse every day.
The hardest thing to do is not to complain. If I do, I analyze it: If I can’t change it, I accept it. If I can change it, I swing into action.
I have also started listing one complaint in a Log daily and decide on an action I will take to change it.
I also start thinking about how fear holds me back, and move past it.
I have also decided I will not lie to myself. That is a personal rule. I also know it is not too late to change. I can control my life. I am responsible for my life. I have the power, the power to decide to change. By not lying to myself, I know I have things in my life I have to change. So today I started with not lying to myself about because I am so busy and active I do not have to do the extra exercises. By not lying to myself, I know I can no longer accept this behaviour and I am going to change it right now. I will do all I can and use whatever help I need, but I am changing this, and that is the truth.

I now have a set bedtime too.
I do my nighttime routine, then I stop to think about my day and what I have been grateful for.
And my last thought before falling asleep: “Tomorrow, I am having a great day.”

Accentuate the POSITIVE!

Daily Affirmation:

“My intention is to be successful!”

TODAY Is MY tomorrow. It's up to ME to shape it, To TAKE CONTROL and seize EVERY opportunity. The POWER is in the choices I make EVERY day. I eat well, I live well I SHAPE ME!

THE EMPOWERED LIFE. EXPECT IT . BELIEVE IT. RECEIVE IT.

There are times when we do not feel at our best and brightest. During those times we should be taking a look at what we can do to let our inner light shine to the fullest. Because we are physical, mental and spiritual beings, we need to determine where our spiritual light is being filtered or blocked. Working from the outside inward, knowing that we are the only ones with the power to dim our lights, and as we clear away the layers we are better able get out of our own way to feel the warmth of our own light shining again.

As a means of transport for our mind and spirit, our bodies require proper maintenance. Caring for ourselves is like polishing - helping to clear away the accumulation of physical debris that keeps us from functioning at our fullest capacity. A simple shift in our thoughts positively far better affects our mental state, moving from complaints to gratitude and applying the powerful light of love to any shadowy thoughts. A change of scenery can allow us to see the world in new ways too.

This is a constant battle but once we are free of our restrictions, we become still and connect to the power at the center of our being. It always remains there for us, but when we forget to connect or transfer our power in too many directions, we cannot make the most of our energy. Starting from the inside out directs us into taking the right steps back to the light. However, there are times it can be difficult to find the stillness if our bodies and minds are in the way. As we practice steps to keep our energy flowing freely and without obstruction, we shine our light brightly, illuminating our own paths and causing the world around us glow as well.

A warrior perseveres in the face of adversity, stands up for their beliefs, and speaks in the service of those who cannot.

There are certain personality embodiments that we all carry within us. Some of these present themselves strongly, while others lay dormant. For example, there is an inner warrior within each one of us, but in some of us, this warrior is underdeveloped to the point that we are unable to stand up for ourselves, even when necessary. There can be many reasons for this. We may have grown up with a parent whose warrior aspect was overdeveloped, and we responded by repressing ours completely. On the other hand, we may have grown up with parents in whom this aspect was dormant, so we never learned to awaken it in ourselves.

A warrior is someone with the strength to stand up for what he or she believes; someone who perseveres in the face of challenges and obstacles; someone who speaks and acts in the service of an ideal; someone who protects those who are too weak to fight for themselves. Regardless of the reasons for an underdeveloped inner warrior, you may begin to notice the lack of its fiery, protective presence and wish to awaken it. You may need to stand up for yourself in a certain relationship or situation, or you may have a vision you want to realize, and you know you will need the courage, energy, and strength of a warrior to succeed. Similarly, if you find that you often feel scared, anxious, or powerless, rousing this sleeping ally may be just the antidote you need.

One excellent way to cultivate the presence of your inner warrior is to choose a role model who embodies the qualities of bravery, strength, and vitality. This person could be a character in a myth, a movie, or book, or a historical or living person you admire. Simply close your eyes each day and contemplate the quality of energy that attracts you to this person, knowing that the same potential lives within you. Confirm for yourself that you are capable of handling this energy responsibly, and stoke the fire of your own inner courage.

The Question: Why Me?

The Answer: Why not you?

"Why me" is a very good question to ask. Most often though, when we ask "why me," we are not actually looking for real answers. Instead of looking for solutions or seeking ways to improve our situation, we are complaining, feeling sorry for ourselves and making ourselves out to be the victim. This habit forces us into a very narrow view of our lives that prevents us from being able to see the entire picture. This is like going to see a movie and keeping your eyes focused on only the corner of the screen. You can't possibly see what is really going on.

When you ask "why me" you allow yourself to be forced into the corner of the screen, the "why me" corner. There is a much bigger picture to look at than just that corner. It is easy to understand how we allow ourselves to get stuck in the corner. In many ways, it is a natural reaction. That is all that "why me" is, a reaction. Instead of reacting to life, slow down, and take a look at the entire picture.

Instead of allowing yourself to be pushed into the corner, pull back and witness your life. See the entire picture.

What choices and actions did I take that may have contributed to my current circumstances?

What lessons can I learn?

What choices and actions can I take from here that will lead me to a better place?

While it is true that we are not always responsible for our circumstances and we do not always have control over them, we are in control of the choices we make going forward. When we make the decision to witness our life, we decide to slow down and see what the entire picture has to offer. We decide to learn from the events in our lives and choose a wise response, rather than live the reactionary life of a victim.

Life will always be filled with highs and lows, some of which you have a hand in creating, and some of which you do not. Regardless of your circumstances, you will always have choices. In order to understand the choices available to you and to live a life of consistent learning, you have to see the entire picture. You have to witness your life. Don't allow yourself to get stuck in the corner, where all you can do is complain about what is happening to you. As I Ching put it, "The event is not important, but the response to the event is everything."

This is the difference between living a reactionary life and living a life where you choose the response. This is the difference between being stuck in the corner, with a narrow view of your life, and pulling back to witness it all. After all, your life is your movie. Don't you want to see the entire picture?

Time for a change, yes?

That is disappointing, to say the least, and stressful in having to find new physicians.
I know that scenario all too well. I had a most excellent Dr. Irish she was, so there was no beating around the bush. But the medical association here didn't care for her practices. She staved them off as long as she could 2 years and then said to heck with it and moved her practise to the next town. I was NOT impressed.
It's like they have a click here and if you don't 'fit" their click they make it very difficult for you until they push you out. Let's call it what it really is. BULLYING!
I have a very good doctor again but would have preferred to keep my Irish lass.

This week has indeed been a suck week for me. My hormones have been all over the place and when I eat, for some reason I cannot get full even eating all the healthy foods. Stress is a big factor now due to having to find new doctors for my conditions. They decided to close their practice, so there went four doctors. Since I'm chronically ill and take way too many meds, I'm in a rush to find new ones. Life sucks some days more than others. It's the getting through it all and making peace with myself that counts most.

Know that I am not anyone else's perception. I am simply *ME*

So you're on your way to achieving your weight-loss goals. Feels good, right? You're motivated, determined, you've got your "geek" on. Remember, though, this is about total health. Those changes we're implementing in our life? They've got to be PERMANENT, baby. Ladies, you might get into that size 8, or have a six-pack to show off you men, but that doesn't mean you can get lazy.
Keep in mind, all this work — mental and physical — is helping you look at your life with new perspectives, with deeper insight and understanding. The bottom line: You can never go back to your old way of life if you want to maintain your new physique. You're on the wagon, my friend. As with any kind of recovery, just because you're rehabilitated doesn't mean you can't relapse.

All that soul-searching and honest examination has to continue. All those behaviour modifications and healthy, life-affirming habits you've learned have to stay in place every day for the rest of your life now.

I know, there'll be days, maybe even weeks that it's going to suck and yes it's going to be difficult. Whatever. It's the truth. The good news is that it does get easier. You'll get accustomed to how awesome it feels to treat yourself well, not to mention how awesome you look every time you catch your reflection in a store window or look in the mirror! Eventually, behaviours and choices you've had to think through will become gut instinct.

You can do this. Remember, you're doing it right now

How many of you on a path of personal and spiritual growth have a tendency to analyze your unhappiness in order to find the causes and make improvements? Did you know that it is just as important, if not more so, to evaluate our happiness? Since we have the ability to rise above and observe our emotions, we can recognize when we are feeling joyful and content. We can then harness the power of the moment by savouring our feelings and taking time to be grateful for them.

Recognition is the first step in creating change, therefore recognizing what it feels like to be happy is the first step toward sustaining happiness in our lives. We can examine how joy feels in our bodies and what thoughts run through our minds in times of elation. Without diminishing its power, we can retrace our steps to discover what may have put us in this frame of mind, and then we can take note of the choices we've made while there. We might realize that we are generally more giving and forgiving when there's a smile on our face, or that we are more likely to laugh off small annoyances and the actions of others when they don't resonate with our light mood.

Once we know what it feels like and can identify some of the triggers, we become more aware of our actions. We can then recreate that happiness when we are feeling low. Knowing that like attracts like, we can pull ourselves out of a moody blue by focusing on joy. We might find that forcing ourselves to be giving and forgiving, even when it doesn't seem to come naturally, helps us to reconnect with the joy that usually precedes it. If we can identify with something that triggers our happy place, a song, a picture, or an event, we can use them as tools to recapture joy when we are having trouble finding it. By focusing our energy on analyzing happiness and all that it encompasses, we feed, nurture, and attract more of it into our lives.

TODAY Is MY tomorrow. It's up to ME to shape it, To TAKE CONTROL and seize EVERY opportunity. The POWER is in the choices I make EVERY day. I eat well, I live well I SHAPE ME!

Creating Our Own Life's Vision
Tuesday, July 02, 2019

.The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can't find them, they make them.

- George Bernard Shaw, playwright

That would be ME! I am creating my own life every day!

Take a moment every day to look at the circumstances of your world. Then ask yourself, is it what you want to see? What could you do differently to take one step closer to your ideal vision?

We're all dealt different hands in life. That's how things are. To change things, we have to first accept that fact, then figure out where to go from there. We should all be able to count on each other for help, but in the end, we can't expect anyone to change our lives except ourselves. Nor should we want it that way. It's natural to feel powerless and give up in the face of hardships, but complaining and blaming do nothing except prevent action. Because without positive action, we're giving up our power and asking for more of the same--a world we did not create. Where you start may not be your fault, but the course you run is still your choice.

TODAY Is MY tomorrow. It's up to ME to shape it, To TAKE CONTROL and seize EVERY opportunity. The POWER is in the choices I make EVERY day. I eat well, I live well I SHAPE ME!

I'm quite sure we have all had the experience of encountering someone whose life seems so completely different from ours that we can almost imagine we have nothing in common. However, if we go deeper into observing, we will see that we all have the same things going on in our lives. It is as if our different lives are in essence the same gift, wrapped in an infinite variety of vessels, wrapping paper, ribbons, and bows. Everybody experiences loss, grief, happiness, excitement, anger, and fear. Everyone can have money issues of one kind or another, and everyone struggles with difficult choices.

Our lives show up differently for each one of us because we make different decisions encounter the different consequences and each learns in different ways. We each learn about work and love, with experiences that are tailored to our particular perspective. Even as it appears that some people have it easy while others are in a continual state of struggle, the truth is that we are all learning, and it is very difficult to tell, when looking only at the exterior of a person, what's going on inside.

This is one of the many things that can be so valuable about cultivating relationships with people from all walks of life. As we get to know those who seem so different from us, we get to really see how much of life's challenges and joys are universal. We begin to look beyond the packaging of skin colour, clothing preferences, and socioeconomic differences, hairstyles, and the cars we drive to the heart of the human experience. It is important to honour and value the differences in our packaging, but it is just as important to honour the gift of life inside each one of us, and the fact that, no matter how different the packaging, the gift inside is the same.

TODAY Is MY tomorrow. It's up to ME to shape it, To TAKE CONTROL and seize EVERY opportunity. The POWER is in the choices I make EVERY day. I eat well, I live well I SHAPE ME!

Motivation is our natural born inner power or energy that pushes us toward carrying out specific actions. Motivation has much to do with desire and ambition, however, if they are absent, this means motivation will be absent too.

Often we have the desire and ambition to get something done or achieve certain goals but lack the push, the initiative and the willingness to take action. This manifests a lack of motivation and inner drive.

The presence of motivation strengthens the ambition, increases initiative and gives direction, courage, energy and the persistence to follow one's goals. A motivated person takes action to achieve his/her goals.

Motivation is usually strong when we have a vision, a clear mental image of a certain situation or achievement, and also a strong desire to materialize it. In this case, motivation pushes us forward, toward taking action and making the vision a reality.

Motivation can be applied to every action and goal. You could be motivated to become a writer, take a walk everyday or make more money, get a better job, buy a new house, own a business or become a doctor or a lawyer. Motivation is present whenever there is a clear vision, precise knowledge of what one wants to do, a strong desire and faith in our abilities.

Actually, motivation is one of the most important keys to success.

Lack of motivation does one of two things, no results or brings only mediocre results, whereas motivation brings faster, better and increased results. Compare a student who lacks motivation and who hardly studies, and a student who is highly motivated and devotes many hours for studying. They will achieve completely different results.

Lack of motivation shows lack of enthusiasm, zest, and ambition, whereas the possession of motivation makes one full of life, and willing to do whatever it takes to achieve what one sets out to do. A motivated person is a happier person, who sees the positive end result in his/her mind.

What can we do to enhance our motivation and awaken the power that will push us toward accomplishing our dreams, small and big? Here are a few suggestions:

1. Set a goal. If you have a major goal, it would be a good idea if you split it into several minor goals, each leading to your major goal. In this way, you will find it easier to motivate yourself, as you will not feel overwhelmed, and the goal would seem more feasible and easier to accomplish.

2. Understand that finishing what you start is important. Hammer into your mind that whatever you start you have to finish. Develop the habit of going to the finish line.

3. Socialize with others of similar interest. Motivation and positive attitudes are contagious. Associate with motivated people, who share your interests.

4. Never procrastinate anything. Procrastination leads to laziness, and laziness leads to lack of motivation.

5. Persistence, patience and not giving up in spite of failure strengthen the motivation to succeed.

6. Read about the subjects of your interest. This will keep your enthusiasm and ambition alive.

7. Constantly affirm to yourself that you can and will succeed.

8. Look at photos of what you want to do, get or achieve.

9. Visualize your goals with happiness and joy.

Remember, if a certain goal is really important, you need the motivation to keep you going.

Today is “Flush the toilet, Get Out of the bathroom and Fagetta-Bout-It”. I've been thinking about the things that hold us back—things that keep us living in old moments that we can’t change and that keeps us from fully enjoying each new day.

The past cannot be changed, the future is still in your power.
-Hugh White

So let's get out of the bathroom and get to work!

I know the issues that hold us back from reaching our goals are not as easy as one, two, three to get past. So we shouldn't try and do it all at once. Instead, we should teach ourselves to follow a format and use it as often as we can. As we use it, surely we will get past more and more of our roadblocks, take control of our lives and move forward with grace and dignity.

So I'm going to start with the things that I mull over in my mind; events in the past that have upset me; people that have upset me; things in the past that I still think about. I'm even going to finally once and for all move past my heartbreaks.

Here’s the drill. First, write it out on a piece of paper an event that took place that you seemingly can’t let go of. This could be as far back as childhood or can be a recent event. It can be a big deal or just something small. But start with what's comfortable for you
After you've written about the event and what happened, write in detail how it made you feel.

The next step is to write out, “I forgive this person (name; could even be me) and this event. I let go of my anger, pain and hurt. I am not going to carry this with me anymore. I forgive and free myself to move forward. In forgiving, I do not condone this act, but simply let it go. I release this event and myself. I am free.”

Next Rip up the paper and all it says and quite literally flush it down the toilet. As I do, I'll say “Fagetta-Bout-It!” and walk away and “Fagetta-Bout-It!”
