I know what you mean about the water. I've been having to drink plain water for the past couple of years, so I've finally gotten used to it. But some tap waters I cannot drink!

Thank you for the article.

Yes, the article agrees with me to an extent. However, I still cannot stand plain water.

I have, in the past, used lemon juice in water. Not too bad.

My exercise has been stinking. A ton of reasons why, but I am not going to bore you with the reasons.

I have joined a weight loss challenge with a group of women. The woman head of it disagrees with me about my water intake.

I like to make diet lemon iced tea to get in my water intake. Unsweetened tea is healthy, is it not? She told me that only water with fresh lemons is only good to drink.

I am not stupid. I even have a book titled The Ultimate Tea Diet by Mark "Dr. Tea" Ukra.

ON_A_DIET - I enjoy binding different kinds of books, and the Blizzard Book is a folded book, not one that is bound by thread or glue. In the video that I've linked to below, I have the book that is shown on the screen, "Art of the Fold" by Hedi Kyle, and that book has the instructions in it for how to fold the Blizzard Book. I was getting stuck trying to figure out the printed instructions in "Art of the Fold," so when I came across this video showing how to fold the large piece of paper to make the Blizzard Book structure, then the folding finally clicked in my brain. I haven't had time to work on it today, but hopefully I can watch the video again soon and fold along with the Paula Krieg, who made this video.

I hope that explanation helps. There are a lot of books on the market and videos on YouTube that show how to bind different handmade books, if this topic interests you. I love bookbinding!

I've watched a few bookbinding videos this week, but that's about as crafty as I've been. I was really excited to find one of them on how to make a Blizzard Book. I have a book with that structure in it, but I have had trouble reading the instructions!

I've been changing out the wreath on my aunt's door at the assisted living facility for every season or holiday. Time to put up an Easter wreath now.

I'm wondering if there is some way to market wreaths at nursing homes/assisted living facilities? So many of the residents enjoy wreaths on their doors.

I think so. I've seen them in a local restaurant for sale. Right now there is a pink and white one with Easter eggs on it. I'm sure someone will purchase it. They are asking $25 dollars for it. The Christmas ones went for $50.

I would, but I would probably buy one at a craft table rather than online. Seems like it might cost a lot to mail a wreath.
Sounds interesting!

I have tons of scrap fabric. Do you think people would buy random scrap fabric wreathes? Either at craft tables or on-line?

I agree with all of you! I know what you mean by photos of storage space... I watch YouTube videos about Dollar Tree storage techniques, but then I have no room for all of the crates used. My craft section is in my office, a very small place. Every time I go to Dollar Tree, I mean to look for over the door shoe organizers and then I forget! grrrrr

Thank you for putting up with me. emoticon

Nice and neat storage is not in my current vocabulary, either! LOL!
I see all these beautiful photos of organized storage spaces, and then I just close the magazine and put it back on the shelf at the store, or I get off the Pinterest screen!

It's hard to get motivated when it's cold and yukky out. And you surely don't need to get out in the cold and get sick.
I just watched a webinar that artist Donna Downey hosted titled, "Mixed-Media Florals." I like her technique.

Here is something little to brighten someone's day...

Grab a jar.
Write a recipe on an index card.
Grab a rolled up apron.
Place both inside.
Place lid on with a bow.

What do you think?

The over the door hanger sounds like a great idea. My step-mom loved her makeup and potions and stored them in her tiny bathroom that way. The one she had was made of clear plastic so she knew just what each one held.

The over-the-door shoe holder idea was the first thing I thought of, too, because I've seen it mentioned so much online as a good way to store things.
One of my friends has a nice-looking wall of canvas bags on hooks, and she stores a lot of her kitchen items, etc. in those. It doesn't look cluttered the way she arranged it.

When I am finished with the fabric wreathes, I am going to start the sandwich bags.

Any advice on how to store craft supplies in a small space? I looked on YouTube, but the advice was either boring or the people had total whole rooms to devote to. I have a small table in my office! There is not even enough room to separate all of my fabric. One summer, I bought all kinds of scarves (2 huge piles) at a yard sale. Then, I have gone to GoodWill and bought curtains.

One tip that I did get off of YouTube that I forgot today, was to buy over-the-door shoe holders and accessory holders. I could very easily stick fabric into the pockets.

Well, today went by so fast!

OK... this is what I did...

I have a pink fabric wreath completed, but needed embellishment though. I have a blue fabric cut in strips, not tied yet to the frame, but is going to need embellishment too. So, while at Dollar Tree today, instead of getting ahead of myself with the sandwich bag wreathes, I found some brand-new plaques in the store to glue to the pink wreath and the blue wreath. One says welcome with a hot pink flower underneath and another welcome with a royal blue flower underneath. Really cute and full of pizzazz.

Did I do good?

Good question!

You might be able to hot glue the middle of a pipe cleaner to the back of whatever you are attaching, and then use it like a twist tie. Pipe cleaners should be rigid enough to be able to place them as if they were floating on top of the bags without damaging them -- depending on the weight of the embellishment, I guess.

I saw some puffy stickers at Hobby Lobby today -- all kinds of cute designs -- and looks like they had sticky backs on them. Wonder if those would face the right direction when you placed them on the bags and not get weighted down?

Right now that's all I can think of, as I have never tried working with the plastic sandwich bags before.

Good luck! And let us know what works! emoticon

I just looked up the sandwich bag wreaths, and those look so versatile! In my mind I can picture one with a light blue bow and blue snowflakes to go along with the cold weather -- or maybe even a royal blue. Or if you wanted one that could be used both at Valentine's Day or Mother's Day, a soft pink bow with pink roses would be beautiful. Maybe one with images of hats done in red with purple bows that might appeal to the ladies in the Red Hat clubs. I'm just thinking of things I think would be nice on my aunt's door at her assisted living facility. One thing that's real good about those fluffy sandwich bag wreaths is that they look like they wouldn't bang the door and make a lot of noise when they are used inside like that.

But what items would you attach to it? (besides ribbon & bow)

I would love to see a finished sandwich bag wreath! Sounds intriguing.

When I make a sandwich bag wreath, what do you think I should attach?

I know what you mean, and I think it's good that you don't just settle for something that isn't right for the finished piece. We just have to keep our eyes open during projects like this, and when it's the right addition, it usually jumps right out there and completes and compliments the piece just the way we want it!

Seems like I take forever to get to a craft. I am not too good with finding just the right items for a wreath, such as stuff at Dollar Tree, which is always seasonal. For example, I have a completed pink wreath that needs something but I cannot find the right item or items to go along.

Have a great time. Our craft days are sporadic at best but right now I feel the need to indulge.

Today I'm hosting Craft Play Day at my home. Two of my friends and I started getting together on Tuesday afternoons, probably in 2008. We were not able to meet during 2018, but now we're starting up again.
Many times we'd all work on the same project, but this year we've decided that we will each work on our own projects. Today I think I'll make covers for this past week's Book-a-Week project, and then I'll probably paste some paper napkin backgrounds in one of my altered books.

Hi! I do hope you'll stay on SparkPeople!

With the start of a new year, I think it's good that we all think about what we've been doing, what's working, what's not, and what we want to change. I've been on this site since January 1, 2010, and I pretty much ask myself every year whether or not I should stay, as well. And since 2010, it's been a "yes" for me.

I'm still weighing about the same as when I started, too, but I do know I am eating healthier foods. I go through periods of exercising and then not exercising. I especially like to keep up with my SparkFriends and learn about different arts and crafts that others are creating, and I think at least I'm maintaining my weight by reading articles and blogs to keep me making healthy choices. Even though I'm not reaching my goal of losing weight (well, I go up and down there, too), and sometimes I think I'm spending too much time on SparkPeople, I know that I want to keep thinking daily about my overall health -- and SparkPeople helps me do that.

Sounds like you have been very busy with your work and side hustles, and I know how valuable time is! Maybe you could narrow down some of the things you like best about SparkPeople and just keep doing those. I know that besides keeping up with like-minded members of the teams that I am on, I like to go to the Healthy Inspiration page and look at all the illustrated motivational quotes. There's always at least one that jumps out at me everyday to help me start my day with a positive thought. I also like looking on the Start page at my Goal Board Check In where I've listed my personal goals and motivations. I want to keep all of those at the forefront of my mind every day.

I hope you have a good weekend, too, and hope you can get some refreshing rest and do the things you love the most. Hope to see you back here on SparkPeople!

Hello to all of you superb Sparkpeople members. The new year is here.

I have been keeping myself occupied with work and side hustles. When I wake up it is dark outside. When I go to bed it is dark outside. When is the time change ever going to get here?

Instead of drinking my favorite diet lemon iced tea in my sports water bottle, I made a pitcher of unsweetened black iced tea. Tastes good for a change.

I may be quitting Sparkpeople. In 2015, I began Sparkpeople and weighed 170. It is now 2019 and I still weigh 170 pounds. I think I need to pursue different avenues. If you really want me to stay, tell me. If not, I really may have to go.

Have a good weekend.

We have a fun group here in Oregon call West Coast Painted Rocks. It is so fun to see your rocks posted. I've left them all over the state! When I find one I usually take a picture and rehide it. #WCPR

I just joined a new local Facebook group. Here's some info about it.

"Spread happiness, love and inspiration through the simple gesture of painting rocks and "hiding" them throughout the community for people to find. This is a community-building group meant to inspire creativity in all ages and bring kids/families back together again in a world gone completely wild. This is for any person of any age. Get creative and get outside. Here is how it works:

All you have to do is find some rocks (find outside or buy from Home Depot, Lowes, Dollar Tree etc) and some painting supplies (paint, sharpies, gloss etc) get creative and then "hide" your rock somewhere for someone to find. (Example: at the front door of your local grocery store, at a gas pump etc) It is preferred that you hide your rocks at night so that people don't see you place them!!

If you find an art rock, take a picture, share it with us on here where you found it, and either keep the rock or re-hide the rock for someone else to find.

On the back of your artwork, we would love if you referenced [name of the group]. Once you're done painting your rock, it is recommended that you seal it with clear coat before hiding it to protect your art from the elements.

We would love it if you posted pictures [on Facebook group] of your painted rocks before you hide them, or when you find them.

The goal is to get lots of people all across our county painting so that there are lots of rocks to find out there!

This is meant to be fun for everyone of all ages and abilities. Please keep your artwork PG rated as kids love to look for and find the hidden rocks

Remember to be respectful of private property and businesses."

Me: Doesn't that sound like fun? I had purchased a rock painting book from Amazon about a month ago so that I could use the ideas with the assisted living group that I volunteer to facilitate art projects with. So finding this rock art Facebook group came at a great time. I already have other projects planned for November and December, so I'm planning to start this project with my group in January. Now I just need to start gathering some rocks to paint!

I have done several paint pours and now I think I found a way to use them. You can add a landscape to them. I'm going to try this soon.

I use the app when I am away from home but it is really hard to interact with the teams. The food tracker works ok but the exercise tracker doesn't. Can't get my steps in the tracker. I usually take my laptop on long trips so I can at least get some of my stuff in if I have wifi.

I've always said I've never met a craft I didn't like LOL. Can't wait for people to share!

I always love learning about other crafts that I've never tried and seeing the photos of what other team members are working on or have finished. So many creative people on SparkPeople!

One thing I've thought about -- which I may have mentioned before -- is that when I first joined SparkPeople in January 2010, I'm not sure that they even had a SP app. I think most people were accessing all the wonderful info and participating in the team message boards from their desktop and/or laptop computers. I have tried accessing SP from the app on my iPhone, and I just get frustrated. It's very hard for me to get to the teams and then spend the time typing on my phone. I am guessing that a lot of our members use the SP apps and (to me) it's just not that easy to keep up with the teams.

If anyone else is seeing this message, what do you think, and how do you access SparkPeople? From your computer or from the app on one of your portable devices? If from an app, do you find it more difficult to access the team message boards?
