I'm really at a maintenance level, so don't look at a little holiday indulgence in the same light as others might. Moderation is key! I'm not baking a lot - just one or two batches of cookies that are tradition - and worth their calories. I really don't mind the extra exercise that will be needed to work them off - they're good! I do try to 'skinny' a lot of my recipies. I use fat free sour cream, low fat cottage cheese, skim milk, whole wheat flour in place of at least part of the white... Yes, I use whole eggs, because a lot of the nutrients of egg are in the yolk. I refuse to waste good food like that! But again, moderation is key. I have a favorite sesame cheese stick that I like to snack on. Instead of just grabbing a handful, I'm digging out the hummus and using it as a dip. I eat fewer of the cheese sticks and add some good nutrition at the same time. Party buffets - really emphasize the lower fat meats and the veggies, take it easy on cheesy and starchy dishes. Yes, I'm going to visit the dessert areas, but I have no problem cutting off one or two bites of something that looks really good and not sampling everything! (I frequently see that the next piece taken is that smaller one left after I took part...)

I will miss my Christmas party because our school has their play that night. And as for baking I don't so my temptation won't be there.

I am sad to say that I am going to indulge just a little. I am working out more so hopefully it won't hurt but I love the cookies that we make as a family. So that is something that I will have to watch!

The holiday season is here.... and it is the hardest time to keep off the extra pounds. What is everyone doing to help with all the temptations?

My husband and I decided to try and stay away from carbs... so we are bring foods to parties that we know we can eat.
