Water is very important for us. We may, and I do, require more than the 8 glasses a day. The link goes to a water calculator I use to see what I need for my current weight. Mt requirement has dropped 9 ounces due to weight loss. Yipee!

I'm sorry Sammy was so sick, it isn't fun for anybody when the dog is sick. You were fortunate to be able to find someone to take care of her.

I just thought I would pass this on, from experience I have heard that a few spoonsfull of canned pumpkin (not the pie mix, just plain pumpkin) will help settle a dog with diarrhea. Of course a trip to the vet if it lasts more than 24 hours, but hopefully she is doing better by now anyway. Be sure you don't have any mushrooms in the yard she could have eaten, or any plants that are dangerous. It is scary when they are sick and you don't know what is causing it.

I hope all is well now.

After a very long time, I thought I would check in and update my status, and say Hi to anyone still there who remember's me. I am doing well, have had some setbacks, but not in the weight loss department. My goal has always been my Sparkpeople name, Iwillbe145. I am able to see the goal line now, I weighed in this morning at 152. I still have nearly 10 lbs to go, and I can see by my belly that I will want to continue loosing until I have a waistline again, but I am so happy to have come so far.

Our Dog Samantha "Sammy" is a mix between a schnauzer and some type of terrior. She is 12 years old even though she looks alot younger. She was sick last week, which was rough on us because she had to go potty every 45 mins to an hour. My husband and I were switching shifts taking her out in the middle of the night. We had someone stay with her in the day which was a good thing. She is on the mend now and we are all happy because everyone is sleeping again :)

Well, I have had my rant, vented, and I really appreciate all the supportive replies here. I would like to end this discussion on a good note.

I have gotten a lot of powerful motivation from this experience, and I hope some of you have too. One of the positive things is to respect and understand how sensitive people can be about their weight, and to realize there will always be ignorant people out there, even in respected professions. We should not let their insensitivity bring down an otherwise positive experience in our lives. I have lost weight, I will loose more, and I WILL NOT LET the comments from an insensitive person change how I feel about my success, or even about my challenges. I am the ONLY one who will determine how I choose to think of myself. And I KNOW I am doing the right thing for me.

'Nuff said, thank you and let's move on.
How are YOU doing with YOUR weight loss journey? Well, I hope! Don't you just love this site?

He was completely in the wrong. I'm sorry but you don't talk to your patients that way. He reminds me of that Commercial on TV with the woman with Cancer and the Dr tells her and gives her no hope for the future tells her she has 3 months or so to live. Then her sister calls Cancer something and she goes there and after all the tests she askes him how long she has and he says "Kathy, there is nothing imprinted on your foot saying your going to die" and the treatment works.
Makes you want to reach out and 'touch' someone.

That is funny, people who know me know how I almost never use anything profane, but I haven't been this mad in a long time. It wasn't for myself, but I have been on this website long enough to see what a devastating effect that kind of attitude can do to some more sensitive people! I am thankful, believe me, to have a good self esteem, I think my parents gave me that, and I tried to give it to my children, as well as my friends. But to think this doctor is talking to people this way (by the way, he is skinny, but I don't hold that against him)- It just made me HOPPING MAD!!

Thanks for all the support I have had from all who have replied, it makes me realize that there are a lot who understand how hurtful words can be, and especially coming from one who should be helping us.

Today was my doctor's appt, the first since I started on my SP journey. Unfortunately my weight was up this morning, (Monday is the day of the week I weigh in). Still I am down 25 lbs since my last visit. Today is just one day in the total journey. My doctor is an "a'hole", a fact that I have known all along. The nurse took my blood pressure, and it was TOTALLY normal! Well the doctor just said it can range up and down a lot and this was just one reading. He said I needed to have a blood test for diabetes and a cholesterol test. I am looking forward to the results. He said last time I was in they were both bordering unhealthy, and I asked if he thought the 25 lbs weight loss would bring the numbers into the healthy range, and he said, and I quote, "WELL, YOU WILL PROBABLY REGAIN IT ANYWAY!"!!!!! Don't they take an oath to "First do no harm"??? I have a thick skin, and my self esteem is NOT based on my body weight, but so many people would have dissolved in a heap of tears from that remark! I couldn't believe my ears. I am furious that he would have the GALL to say that to someone who has just made remarkable improvements and found, thru no help from him, a way to continue to loose weight and recover a healthier body.

I thought he was my only choice because of the health plan that I am on, but it turns out I could go to any of the doctors in that clinic. You can bet your PITUTIE I will change to another one!

(Please tell me if this message is inappropriate, right now I could spit red hot nails!!)

I've reached my goal for this month of losing 5 pound. I've found if I set my goal for 5 pounds each month I do better with less pressure.

I got on the exercise wagon in January, found Sparks in April. It's a good thing I don't have that much to lose, because I think in the entire time I've lost 4 pounds. But that's not a terrible thing. I know I'm healthier, my stamina is better than it was back then, my back and shoulder doesn't hurt as much (still have an issue w/ the shoulder, but at least it's being managed), my clothes fit a lot better (and some things are just too loose), and overall I know the changes have been good for me. Sure, I'd like to have lost 14 lbs instead of 4, but if my body is refusing to do that, perhaps I'm actually where I should be and just need to maintain.

It'll pick up again. Tweak your exercises by taking some out and adding others. That usually helps.

Mine was going so good, and then I had a little hiccup at work and it kind of demoralized me. Also my treadmill broke.. Sniffle. But Im checking out a new gym tonight to see if I like it. Wish me luck. I have lost 9 pounds so far.

One ought, every day at least, to hear a little song, read a good poem, see a fine picture, and if it were possible, to speak a few reasonable words.

For Copy Right laws, you better check on that. Coach Dean sent out a SP wide e-mail about it some time ago. Today is another strange day. Still have a lot of swelling going on. It was all I could do to get my shoes on. Hands and fingers are swollen too. I wonder if maybe I'm drinking too much water. Have been drinking about double the 8 glasses everyday now for almost a month.
Got the other push mower in the mail today. I like the one from Home Depot better so that one will be mine. It sure is fun, or rather will be when the swelling goes down.
Think I may go lay down for a while. A 3 hour nap didn't help at all. I am still swollen and in body wide pain. We are trying to figure out what has me swelling. I drink from 12 to 16 cups of water a day but for some reason the last week or so I have been retaining it. We did buy some Oscar Mayer Deli Ham slices for making sandwiches and that is the only thing different in our diets. Maybe there is something that is an additive in it that is getting to me. The sodium content doesn't seem to be any more than what is in Subway Subs and they don't get me. But then come to think of it, I rarely if ever have Ham in ine. I haven't eaten any of it today and am going to freeze the rest and see what happens. I sure hope that is it because this swelling hurts like mad.

I will list the daily tasks on here. You don't have to buy the book... unless someone wants to buy it. The only thing you will need is a notebook to right down the tasks because it will help you reflect on what you want to achieve will losing weight. If people don't want to do it.... It is ok. I just thought I would share since I got 21 sparkmails asking me about it emoticon

I have been getting alot of sparkmails about the book that my husband and I are starting called 100 Days of Weight Loss by Linda Spangle. We were talking last night about it and we thought it might be a good team goal activity for everyone. The book gives a few tasks to do everyday to help with the thought process of trying to lose weight. People can jump aboard at any time. I figured that we will start it on July 1st. The tasks are really very easy and don't take alot of time. The one thing that I will tell you is if you want to start this with us then get a notebook that you can write down everything.... because it will help you reflect on everything. I lost 6 pounds while in WI and had a huge water gain on the train coming home. then got all but 2 pounds of it off until the last couple of days. Today is one of those day's that a Convoy decided to seek me out and see how many times they could run over me. LOL. The last few days I have been retaining water big time. My feet are so swollen it's all I could do to get my shoes on and my wrists and hands are so swollen, my watch that usually hangs with an inch to spare is tight.
We're going to have another hot day today too.
Hubby has been cheating, he goes out and mows the lawn with our new Push Reel Lawn Mower. LOL. He has a lawn service that comes Friday. He will be having it dropped except for the first mowing in the Spring when it's so tall. Our other Reel mower is to be here tomorrow. We are going to mow together. I am looking forward to it. Really, this is great exercise for him which is something we both need very much. Someday, maybe he will let me start tracking his food so he can see just how much eats calorie wise.

Water is very important for us. We may, and I do, require more than the 8 glasses a day. The link goes to a water calculator I use to see what I need for my current weight. Mt requirement has dropped 9 ounces due to weight loss. Yipee!

I'm not losing the weight as I would like. My goal was to reach my desired weight by July 15. That's less than a month away, and I have 10 pounds to lose. So, I'm not going to make that. BUT, I am losing the inches. I'm finally below 40 inches in the hips, and I haven't seen that in I cannot remember when.

I'm still learning to eat better. I need to increase my veggies. I've never been a big veggie eater.

I'm keeping up with the exercising by walking 30+ minutes each weekday. I walked 55 minutes today. I'd like to increase to 45 minutes a day, regularly. I'm working on that.

Good for you for buying something together that you are trying.

I lost 40 last year and kept it off pretty well, bouncing every once in awhile but for some reason this past week I bounced up 6 lbs and can't seem to get it off. I walk every day and have to go just a few steps further as I don't want to injure anything and not be able to walk. So far I've walked 12 days in the past 15 so not slacking off. I guess I'll pull out my old weight watcher quick start thingy and try that to see if I can kick start things again.

Have a super day everyone!

I've lost 6lbs so far! I am so excited about it.

One ought, every day at least, to hear a little song, read a good poem, see a fine picture, and if it were possible, to speak a few reasonable words.

I've been doing pretty good this time. I had originally started in Sept but quickly stopped and gained everything back except 2 pounds. I started back again in Feb. and have been able to reach over have way to my goal. But I still have days here and there when I think why bother. Fortunately they are getting farther and farther between.

Not so well. I've gained and am having a hard time getting motivated again. Hubby and I are using the Wii Fit and competing against each other. it seems to be helping me get the exercise in.

I just wanted to check in with everyone to see how their weight lose was going? Mine has been horrible... but it is because I haven't been focused and I was putting work before myself. It took me way to long, but I am thinking about myself now.

My husband Tod found a very interesting book. It is called 100 Days of Weight Loss by Linda Spangle. It is a daily motivator book that gives you tasks to complete every day for 100 days. We started it today. The first thing we had to do was write down 10 Reasons Why I Want To Lose Weight and Maintain Success.

We feel this book will be a good tool for us because we are both two peas in a pod and our minds get in the way of us staying focused. We throw up our hands if we eat something wrong or we don't work out. We just give up.

I believe in my gut we can do it.

So... Enough about me. How is everyone else doing with their weight lose. I think it is time we all check in and see if anyone needs support!
