Water is very important for us. We may, and I do, require more than the 8 glasses a day. The link goes to a water calculator I use to see what I need for my current weight. Mt requirement has dropped 9 ounces due to weight loss. Yipee!

I know what you mean. The "income crafts" always come first and the rest seem to sit for "later." I can't tell you how many family "projects" are on a shelf in my paint room waiting to be painted. I keep thinking that someday I'll be caught up enough on work orders that I can do the other things, but so far it hasn't happened. Managing my time is a real struggle. 24 hours in a day just isn't enough and I haven't heard of any plans for that to change to 27 or 28 hours. LOL Here's a thought: Just think how much our families will appreciate our handmade gifts when they realize it took us YEARS to get them made.
Good luck with your rugs. I know you'll find time to get them done.

My crafting too is like a job as I make many things and sell them out of a Shop downtown for extra money. What I need to make time for is the side Crafts that I need to do for my Grand kids like the latch hook rugs I have for each one. 5 big ones that is a representation of an interest of theirs.

I try to find time a few evenings during the week and a few hours during the weekend. I am lucky to have a husband that encourages me to be creative!

I am lucky enough that crafting is my full time job so I always make time for it. Some days it's the ONLY thing I make time for. For that reason I took up scrap booking as a hobby. Something that I just do "for me." Like you, my hobby time tends to get put on the back burner when I am being pulled in so many other directions. One of my goals is to put some time aside for me...no matter what. We really do need that "me time" where we can do something that we truly enjoy.

In another program I belong to we have a list of things to remember to live by called Just For Today. One of them is:

JUST FOR TODAY I will stop saying “If I had time.” I never will “find time” for anything. If I want time, I must take it.

This is especially true for me when it comes to finding time for doing crafts. I have a very busy schedule with many people depending on me. I'm sure that describes most of you too. Usually, what goes to the wayside is the time I would spend on myself. Honoring the creative side of me is very much linked to my spirituality. If I go too long without taking time to express myself through creativity, I start to freeze up emotionally and spiritually. Pretty soon I am no good to myself or those I need to help on a day to day basis. I have found that I literally need to book myself on the calendar or I don't take that time out. It seemed fundamentally wrong at first that I needed to do that in order to take care of myself. Then I realized that it is what it is. If that's what it takes, okay, I'm better for it. At first, I would take a class so I could justify "making the time." Now, I can just book it and spend that time for myself. I just let everyone else know I have an appointment for that time and they never question it. In reality, I am the one that puts the time demand on myself. My loved ones don't really want me to neglect my needs. It is just difficult to fit it all in. Indeed there was a time I didn't have a life. Now I have a very full one which I am grateful for even if it gets a bit overwhelming.

What do you do to make sure you have time for your creative endeavors?
