I'd love to work crime scenes as well

I've been in the Clinical Laboratory Technician program since Spring of 2011 at the technical school in my area, it was the closest thing they had to forensics. Well, starting in January 2013, they have added a Crime Scene Investigations Technology degree. I just don't think I'll be able to afford the over $1000/semester it'll cost to take the classes. How is everyone else doing?

I will be earning my degree in forensic chemistry. I want to work in a forensics lab. Currently, I believe I will be content in the lab, but I may choose to work crime scenes as well.

thanks for the info, good luck to your future. I'll check up on whether or not being a p.o. is required here.

cheffaking ... where are you from? Are you sure you have to be a police officer first? There are a few places that require that but around here you can go straight into CSI work without becoming a po.
Take a look at all of your options and avenues!

LLSPRY... It was between medical examiner and profiling that i had to choose! I chose to work with dead people since they don't lie to you :D But from what my professor told me, you must be a licensed psychologist or equivalent in order to do profiling. Part of me really really wants to do that but medicine always calls me back. maybe one day I'll look into doing it too.

I am getting a dual degree in criminal justice and pre-med w/ concentration in forensics. After this I am going to med school to get another dual degree in Osteopathic and Forensic Medicine (same amount of time to get both as to get one)..........

The plan with all that is to be a Medical Examiner :)

I plan on going into investigations also, crime scene investigations that is. Gotta be a cop first though and I feel like my weight is holding me back from that.
