Someone recommended to look at adrenal fatigue vs hypo thyroid. A friend did research at WomenToWomen.com and is fixing her thyroid levels through diet alone. Her doctor agreed to hold off meds while she worked through her diet and last test she was at 8 down from 12-13 or so.

Yes. L-lysine is an essential amino acid. It cannot be synthesized in the human body, but from it, the body can produce a number of other important compounds.

Here is a quote from Wikipedia

L-Lysine is a necessary building block for all protein in the body. L-Lysine plays a major role in calcium absorption; building muscle protein; recovering from surgery or sports injuries; and the body's production of hormones, enzymes, and antibodies

I'm thinking it is also used to counter herpes, possibly because of its role in the formation of collagen.

One of the reasons that the protein in grains is considered to be "incomplete" is the fact that it has very little Lysine, which fortunately is in good supply in legumes and certain other vegetables, hence the tradition of having "beans and cornbread", for example, or "lentils and rice".

Yes. I meant l-lysine. Is it good in your opinion?

I misspoke. I should have said "l-tyrosine with kelp (not iodine). Kelp is a rich source of iodine, and has other minerals as well.

I don't know "l-lyosine". Did you mean to type l-lysine? (I sometimes find extra letters in my words, also, and wonder how they got there.)

At any rate - they are two different amino acids.

I got me some L-lyosine. Increased my vitamin d and c. I had my blood test thyroid panel but it was within limits. I take synthyroid 50. My blood test result was 2.3. Some say there is a new low level. I don't know.

It might be that your thyroid level needs to be checked and your dosage modified.

I also agree with several of the suggestions already made. In addition, if your diet does not include much red meat, you might benefit from l-carnitine supplementation.

Supposedly, if one takes l-tyrosine with the iodine, then the thyroid is supplemented, but I will tell you that it is very difficult to get the balance just right, and excess l-tyrosine elevates blood pressure for some people.

Another thing to look at is your bp medicine, if you are taking one - there are several different types, and some work better than others for different people, and the "wrong" one can really make a person tired and listless.

I have regular blood transfusions for anaemia. I have to have orange juice with meals and no tea or coffee with food. Vitamin C helps you absorb iron from your food.

RTLIFESTYLE:

Have you had your vitamin B--12 and D levels checked lately? They may be low and will cause you to be tired as well. I know had the b-12 shots for several years, and then they found I had low D and gave me 4000 units of d a day. it made a difference. I also was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea and found that by getting the C-Pap machine, the tiredness was going away after doing all of those things. Food for thought
