I haven't done one in every State, but eventually I hope I do. So far 9 States. 😎

I'm one of those people who has a favorite--because it's the only one I've ever run--the Papillion Half in Papillion, NE. And running it again in a few weeks.

But now I feel inspired to try out other half marathons. It's a great reason to go on a vacation!

Have you done one in every state yet?

Do you have a link or precise name for that HM? Google doesn't know any HM by that name. I searched for HMs along the Columbia but there are several!

26 different halfs so far. I'll pick the Run the Riverwalk Half as my favorite to date. Great scenery along the Columbia River, good course support, not a huge field and when I last did it I received a medal made by a local glass factory inscribed with my name.

I didn't say it was "offensive" (that's much too harsh). I just didn't feel your own answer lived up to the promise of your question - which I thought was a really good question :-)

Hmm. How many of your 26 HMs have been different HMs (not just the same HM in different years)? If you've done 26 different HMs, I can see why naming 5 "favorites" feels ok but I'd still like to hear you narrow it down to one (or order the 5 you named earlier).

Sorry Pasta if my question was offensive. I didn't intend it to be bothersome. I basically was hoping for ideas from others. I have run 26 Halfs to date and have 8 more on the schedule this year.

I'd restrict this to people who have done more than 1 (maybe more?), otherwise you're going to get a lot of people saying "Well, I've only done the XYZ HM so that is my fav...."

You can't narrow it down to 1? That was what your question promised! Naming 5 "in no particular order" makes it seems like you couldn't even answer your own question. (I'm also wondering "Maybe she liked everything?! Maybe she did 6 and loved 5?!") If you can't boil it down to less than 5, at least say the number of different HMs you've done so we know how discriminating you are. Or maybe you meant to ask "What are your favorite 5 HMs?" (although I prefer the way you asked it in the Topic line).

Now that I've moaned and groaned, I'll make this response a bit more constructive and answer it directly: I've done 13 different HMs and my fav is Harpers Ferry, WV (which is coincidentally coming up next month)! Least fav: Baltimore.

I was pondering this question and trying to figure out what my favorite run has been so far. I would say I have several in the top five that were all unique and enjoyable in their own right. My top five (in no particular order)

Run the Riverwalk Half - Astoria, OR
Avenue of the Giants Half - Redwoods in CA
Disney Princess Half - Orlando, CA
Portland Half - Portland, OR
Bridge of the Gods Half - Cascade Locks, OR/WA

I also really enjoyed the AZ Rock n' Roll in Gilbert, AZ... enough so that I'm even signed up to do it again next year!
