Going to sign up for the Champoeg Half sponsored by the Oregon Road Runners Club. Wasn't sure I would run an event in March but looks like timing on this one will work out for me.

My next is the SHE Power in February in Chandler, AZ. This will be my 36th consecutive month running at least one half. Due to scheduling conflicts, It looks like I may not be able to do an event in March so my streak will most likely end at that point. Trying to see if I can figure something out.

Going to do the Bridge of the Gods Half next wee-end.. This is a fun one with much of the course on paved trails. The race starts on the Washington Side of the bridge and then crosses over into Oregon. Highly recommend.

Thanks Ruth! I run 3-4 times a week... usually 5 miles every other day and once a week a long run of 11 miles. On my off running days I try and walk 3-5 miles and I also do cross training (spinning and weight lifting) at the gym. My DH and I like to travel so I go to events in different areas and have fun with it. Next up for me in June is the Seattle Rock n Roll. Woot!

Rhonda--first, WOW, a half marathon a month for over 2 years! I'm impressed. Great job.
Second, just curious, what kind of training do you do in the weeks in between all these races?

Right now, I'm not registered for any half marathons. Probable next half will be Winter Warrior. I'm guessing the date will be January 14, 2017 and that the organizers will keep it at Rochester Tech Park in Gates, NY; that site worked well in 2016.

Oak Tree Half Marathon, Geneseo, NY yesterday. Forgot to post here when I registered. Beautiful running weather, toughest half marathon course I've run, 1:31:37 was 22nd of 279 overall and 1st of 8 in the M 60-64 age group.

I'm doing my first half marathon on October 16. I'm excited and terrified! It's the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon. It's a big race, about 26,000 runners.

I'm not really "athletic" and I have a heart limitation but I'm determined to cross the finish line!

Just did the Cowtown Challenge in Fort Worth this last weekend. 5K on Saturday, Half on Sunday. Two races in one weekend was a bucket list item I'm happy to cross off! haha

Next half is the Shiner Half in Shiner Texas. It's not until November but it's a favorite down here. Registration usually starts in late April/ Early May and it's usually sold out within a month. Haven't done it yet, so looking forward to seeing what all the fuss is about.

Tinker Bell Half Marathon on May 8th. I can't wait! Due to illness and injuries, I am a bit behind and had to construct my own training plan that lasted 14 weeks, so just trying to do what I can until then but especially strength training and mileage training.

@PNWVALKYRIE - standard injury avoidance advice for getting the mileage up: Work on good form. Run easy for most miles, but especially the long runs.

General rule of thumb, easy pace is 1:30 to 2:00 per mile slower than your 5K race pace. There are online calculators that will give you more precise answers consistent with whatever training system the calculator uses.

I got to my second half without doing any speed work at all, just ran everything easy as I came back from a stress fracture. It's kind of amazing how much less beat up I get from easy running than from tempo or speed intervals.

I'm running the Seaside Half in Ventura on Feb. 21st. I just saw today that there is going to be a Peace-Love-Run Half on nearly the same course March 6. I'm tempted to run both, but maybe I should wait until after the first one to decide. I'm feeling good about my preparation right now.

I am hopefully running in the Colonial Half in Williamsburg on 2/28. I haven't signed up for it yet. I will see how I do at the 10 miler on 2/13. I have signed up for the Shamrock half on 3/20 and the Flying Pirate Double Dare Challenge in April. I hope to be able to train through the summer this year and do some in the fall as well.

Winter Warrior Half Marathon was yesterday. Gun time 1:30:59 was good for 22nd overall, 1st male 60-64. More details in my blog today.

Next half is Flower City Challenge, April 24. I don't expect to run it as fast as I ran Winter Warrior, because it is 6 days after Boston. Yeah, I know. A half 6 days after a marathon isn't very smart. But I couldn't resist the Four Seasons Challenge this year, when it gave me 3 half marathons and a full marathon (Rochester, in September) for $250 if I signed up early.

May 7 in Shiprock, NM. I did the 5K last year and told myself next year I will do the half marathon!!! So here I am not to sure of myself, I counted down and have exactly 21 weeks to the big day. I am still hoping to loose some upper body weight to help with my joints at my knees. I'm excited!!! This will be my first attempt, any helpful suggestions is great appreciated!
