I run about 4 on Mondays, 6 on Wednesday, ond 9 on Fridays.

Ok, when I go to the Y, it's only 1.5 miles from the house. Too close to drive. So I do run that.

Thanks for posting - I had the same questions.

Great question and good answers. This is a topic I am most interested in after my first HM in March. I want to do 2 more in April and October. I do not want to maintain the kind of miles I have been running, however, I am doing many more races in between than I have over the winter. Thanks.

To stay in HM condition I usually run 6 miles on weekdays and a long run of 10 miles on a Saturday. I've also read that you could potentially skip your long run every other week and remain in good shape.

Personally I think if you can regularly have a 10 mile long run you'll be in great shape for a half.
I'm in nowhere near half marathon shape at the moment though :p

My last half was around the first of November, and I didn't run more than 5.5 miles as my longest weekly run all winter. Most of my runs were 3.5-4.5 miles. I just got back into training for a HM in mid-April, and it was pretty easy to start out at 8 miles for my long run last weekend, and then 10 miles today. I was really surprised at how easy the 10 miles felt, after 4 months of much shorter runs.

However, when I cut back my mileage, I was increasing my strength training, not just laying on the couch, and I think that made a big difference in being able to come back so easily.

Hi All!

I have fallen off the wagon but starting to get seriously back into running. I love it! All my running dreams are coming back! I am hoping to run two half marathons in October which might mean qualifying as a half fanatic. After October, I want to stay in half marathon running shape. When not in training, what is a good average mileage run? 6? 8?

Thanks,
Savannah
