today was training... just training, not a race, and in totally unfamiliar terrain... it wasn't even something you could compare to your other runs! keep up the great work!

I'm glad to see the posts that slow can be good because that is how I am feeling lately. I am training for marathon the end of May and I keep telling myself that I am building enduance (I hope I'm right;)

You get credit for what you finish, not what you start.

I'm ALWAYS slower with hills, it makes sense, but it builds your endurance and strength. Plus, you have a high mile day in there, and you haven't tapered yet, so you'll do fine on race day. Race day and all that support and adrenaline is a whole different story. And like another person said, slow is not bad, your body is trying to tell you something. From one who has been injured too many times to count, listen to your body!

you ran trails and big hills so you did ok. what is the road youre racing on? will there be any hills thrown in? If its flat you'll be surprised with how improved you are from todays time. Also Long Slow runs shouldnt be fast time.

I see this as apple and oranges unless your race is going to be on the same type of terrain you just ran. You would logically not be running at the same pace in significantly different terrains, right? Hang in there.

I think the fact that you were running hills and trails this week would slow you down considerably. Don't worry about it, you're fine and you did nothing wrong. First of all, as another poster said, slow is good as it builds your endurance, but you built a bit of strength this week, too with the more difficult terrain.

Keep with your training plan. As you said, forget it and go on.

Race day will be completely different.

It's ok to have slower runs.
