With me they do a baseline ultrasound to check my uterine lining. They will be able to compare this with how the lining looks during ovulation and whether it can sustain pregnancy.

One more thing i guess is that when you are on metformin for sometime, the small cysts which are characteristic of PCOS starts to look different.

With the blood work, i guess they'll look for your LH,FSH,TSH,DHEAS, Testosterones levels.

Good luck with your test results.

Baseline is referring to your hormone level -not on meds. I assume the ultrasound is to check on your follicles - see if you have any cysts or anything. I always had to do a baseline at the beginning of my cycle. It gives them something to compare to throughout the cycle to see how your body responds to the meds - did hormone levels go up? Do you have follicles developing? Good luck!

My Dr. wanted me to lose about 20 pounds before we started treatment beyond Metformin. Well, I've lost those 20 pounds and now I have an appointment next Friday for more blood work and another ultrasound. I guess they're going to look for changes since my first visit? I'm not really sure and, of course, the nurse's message on my voice mail wasn't as detailed as I would have liked it to be, but she said that I should schedule an appointment for blood work and ultrasound to see if I'm at "base line to get started into a treatment cycle". What is "base line" and what can I expect after this appointment? Will they schedule another appointment after they get my blood work back? I guess I'm just not sure what to expect. If anyone has any advice or personal experiences they could share, that would be great! Thanks so much :)
