I am on my first full day of my quit, after only having 3 cigarettes yesterday. I am using the lozenges. I usually use several a day... my cravings can get REALLY bad. Normally, I would just hop on the treadmill and run them out when I am at home in the afternoons and evenings and use the lozenges during the day, but I have shin splints and can't run much right now, so I am doing lozenges all day,

When I can, I use only half and pop the other half back in when the next craving comes along. Sometimes, it takes the whole thing.

They do work pretty well, though.

Regardless of my last post, I'm using the lozenges again and have been 2 weeks and 3 days without a cig. So they seem to be working this time. I'm only using 3-4 a day, which I think is really good for now. The less I need them, the closer I feel to being really over the addiction!

I tried using lozenges three different times over 6 months and they didn't work for me. I think it is all in the mind, actually. If you really want to quit, whichever method you choose will work for you. I actually liked the lozenges, but they just turned into a treat for me. LOL emoticon

Nicotine lozenges can be found Over The Counter at Pharmacies. They are flavored and not bad in taste. The idea is to place one in mouth when you want a cig. and hold them in the mouth till the craving has passed then remove. I have left them in longer when I am busy without problems occuring. Actually they do work and you are to be able to stop smoking in 6 weeks. I'm not there yet. emoticon

Honestly, I dont think I have ever even heard of them. Sounds interesting though. Where do you get them? I need to get my butt in gear and plan for a real quit. I have learned the hard way that the cold turkey route is just not effective for me. These lozenges sound like they would work. I'm guessing the boost you are talking about is just from teh concentrated nicotine and whatnot...your body just adjusted, like it did to smoking. At least that would be my guess. I'll be interested to hear more about these

Anyone else had experience with the nicotine lozenges? I had some given to me by a friend, she suggested that half of one works just fine for her most of the time. She's used them to quit in the past and was quite for 5 years, now she just keeps them on hand anyway because she uses them in situations where she can't smoke like when she's visiting hospitals.

Yesterday I tried half of one, and found out that one-quarter of a lozenge was really enough for me. Made it through all the serious cravings during the day with just one lozenge! Each time I used it, it was an immediate boost.

Today, when I pop in a quarter of a lozenge, I don't get the same boost I did yesterday. Yes, it keeps the cravings at bay, but I'm just not getting that "boost" anymore. Just wondering if I'm actually kicking the nicotine craving and am more craving the "habit" of smoking today, or if my body is adapting to the lozenges and I'm "wanting" more. I don't plan to use any more than one lozenge a day ... if it got me through the first day of cravings, I see no reason to step up and use more, instead, I should be working toward scaling back.
