HEY EVERYONE!!!

I need some motivation and I know the long challenges we have been doing just aren't what I need in life cause I can't sustain the long haul. So, I am thinking we will start a new challenge on March 1. Each day I'll post a new challenge for that day. 1 point if you conquer the challenge, 0 points if you do not complete it in 24 hours. Maybe there will be a bonus here and there.

I am thinking this will run it for a month... but it's always changing.

Another Challenge? Right now I have 3 people who want to track their goodness over the holidays in a Challenge beginning at Samhain and continuing to Imbolc. It takes more than 3 people to make a fun Challenge. Anyone else?

Here's how it works: You get points for bodywork. You get points for cardio work. You get points for losing pounds. You get points for supporting others in this Team. And, if your daily points add up to more than 20, you get to count your daily Bonus Spin points.

I have this super-simple spreadsheet, works in Excel, OpenOffice, LibreOffice, Ashampoo Office, and just about any other office package. The formulas are entered, you just enter your points.

Every Monday, you report your points to the Challenge group.

Anyone else in?

It starts tomorrow and runs through May 1. The spreadsheet makes it easy to track your points -- you just enter what you did in each category and it totals it for you. As I have already sent you the spreadsheet, you can see for yourself, just randomly enter some numbers and see what happens.

Remember that we do our chatting during the Challenge down in the Challenge and Motivation forum, topic Buff By Beltane 2014.

Inches By Imbolc is just starting up now! We have just completed our most active Challenge ever (over 280 messages!) and are about to wrap that one up with the Awards. Check under the Challenge and Motivation section of the forum!

Rules are easy, made easier by a spreadsheet which allows you to enter your values and let the sheet do the calculations for you...

10 points for each pound lost
1 point for each 10 minutes of cardio work (limit 18)
1 point for each 10 reps of strength work (limit 18)
1 point for each message you send to support other Team members (not just Challenge members)
...and if you collect more than 15 points on any day, you also can count your SP Login Spin as Bonus Points

Got the spreadsheet ready. Go down to the Challenges Section and join the Yummier By Yule 2013 Challenge. Write me at zaivalananda@gmail.com for the spreadsheet.

The spreadsheet helps a ton. You just have to enter your points and everything is totalled for you. It works in Excel, OpenOffice.org, and all other Office packages except Microsoft Works. You download it in email and then use Save As to save a copy you can write on.

Okay... let me work on drumming up interest... if possible, perhaps we can have a Samhain to Yule challenge... I know how much effort Moss puts into running successful challenges... it's the hardest time of year with all the seasonal treats, but I do think it's one of the times we need the push the most, too.

Maybe we can each bring 1-2 people along for the potential challenge?

Perhaps I'm too optimistic?!!!!

OK, we're up to 4... so far no challenge has finished successfully which did not start with 10, and it's hard to get 3 through it even then... hate to sound pessimistic, but I've run lots of these, as Triple_Emme will verify. Get some more people!

I also find that Winter is the hardest time to do it, with all the holiday eating. But if there are enough to do it, I will get the spreadsheet ready and run with it.

Thank you, Foxyroxy. I often get two or three new members to start a new Challenge. Sometimes they excel, sometimes they drop out. But a Challenge with few Challengers is no competition and bogs down early.

Stay tuned. Maybe someone (a lot of someones) will also be interested. Or we can try again in a few weeks and set up for a Lammas start.

It has been a while since I tortured myself by trying to run a Challenge, and overall participation in this group has dropped markedly. Are we ready to try another?

I will require at least 10 participants. It has not been worth it to run one with fewer, as there are always people dropping out and it stops being a competition.

The way our challenges work, you get points for weight loss, strength (based on sets of reps) and cardio (based on minutes) exercise, messages encouraging others on the Team (not limited to Challenge members), and then if you score more than "X" points on a given day, you can count your Login Bonus Spin points for that day.

You should be familiar with spreadsheets, as it is by far the easiest way to keep track. I will produce a spreadsheet blank, and all you will have to do is put in your points and they will be automatically totaled by the formulas I put in the sheet.

We could start at Lammas/Lughnassad (Aug 2)... if there is enough interest... if it takes too long to drum up interest, we could start at Harvest (Sept 21)... either way, we should run to Yule (Dec 21). With sufficient numbers of successful participants, SparkGoodies will be given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
