Hi all!
Quick update...I was told surgery went well and my DIL was resting comfortably. That was via text. I will talk with Tom today for better info. Very busy at the gas station, so I will try to get back on later. Have a good day!

Anne, I think there are a few things I hate to teach---money, fractions, and how to do translations in geometry---LOL-----actually money is not that bad with normal kids but not with ours. But their big problem is not being able to add in their heads for all levels of kids---they just have not been taught the basics well. Glad you got your reservations lined up and figure out the kindle issue---or will you take the laptop since you will be there that long. It is good that you can go help but bummer that you have to so soon after just visiting for the holidays. Now you definitely won't be there next Christmas, right? I hope her surgery went well with no surprises or ill effects.
Dianne, honestly, a lot of those places are like that---then they do a pledge drive to pay for the surprise repairs that would not have been needed if the buildings/equipment was well maintained. The school system often does the same thing and buids with lowest bidder who skimps on things that shouldn't be. We had one of the middle schools totally rebuilt---a much needed event---but they built the cafeteria too small even for the start and have had to enlarge it within 2 years of being built---how dumb is that? Glad no issues at the doctor's.
Betsy, sorry about the post. How come you are not getting to use the computer or is it still acting up? Honesly, I would send you the laptop I got for Christmas but you would let the others use it and I would want it to be just for you! LOL Matthew just brought me over a remote mouse to try with it so I will be doing that this weekend to see if I like it better. Want space on the dining room table to try it---can't figure out how to use a laptop when sitting on the couch with a remote mouse---where would I use the mouse at?
Lindie, sorry about the tummy upset. Could be the drainage going down into the tummy upsetting it. Have you been using probiotics with the meds. The meds you are taking for the cold might also be starting to upset the tummy. With all the pain meds I was taking last month, I was starting to have a few issues. I just realized that I didn't take any meds yesterday for pain---woohoo!
Terri, guessing you have been busy. What have you been getting into?
Mare, guessing you needed to do that with your son. Sounds like he was giving you a lot of grief and you did the right thing for you. It's hard when they have to learn things the hard way but a necessity for some---my oldest was like that---thankfully he learned and is a very productive young man---well, he will be 40 next week, so guess he is no longer a young man. But he did learn but he was into his 20's before he did.
The teacher came in yesterday---she might as well as stayed home because she had no voice---you sure can't teach with no voice---but I did understand and I got the kids started with some work while I made copies for Jeremiah to work on--things that would give him a bit more challenge. According to his doctor note, he should have stayed home---he went in the bathroom and again, an issue, so he went home---hoping mom will realize that she needs to keep him home and make sure the tear is healed before sending him back but I bet he is back today. He told us that the doctor just told him to stop messing in his hole---geez! She took him to Your Doc's In---which does not have a good reputation in our area for treatment but it might be all her insurance will cover or no appointment at his pediatrician---where he needs to be seen and maybe some counseling? I had a nice conversation with him about what he had done and why he was on punishment and how serious this was. I think he is smart enough to grasp the realization of the repercussions that could have happened to him.
Met Dh at Lowe's---thankfully appliances were on sale plus an additional 10% off was ending that day. The new dryer will be delivered on Saturday. We also got a few things Dh wanted for his shed. Then we went to dinner at the Greene Turtle---got nice coupons in the mail this week and saved $10 off our meal. We like them but don't go that often. We both brought home half our cheesesteaks for our lunches today. Highly unusual for Dh to leave half of anything---LOL He did bring home half my fries but ate all of his. We got home and I sat for a while--had enough energy to finish the last bin Michael had brought up --so the village is partly put away. Dh should be able to bring up a couple of bins for me today so maybe I can have more for Michael to take down when he drops by---figured he would stop by after Dom's game on Saturday.
No Dalton today, so today will definitely be better---maybe only 2 if Jeremiah is kept home like he should be. If so, we will go easy on the 2 we will have. TGIF! and going to go to 60 today if they are right.

It's evening and I am not quite ready for dinner, my stomach has been upset for days but I can still eat - not sure why, maybe the tail end of this cold, who knows. I went out to get some more cat food and a surprise for Gene, I had ordered him some cargo pants - but I needed 29/30 they only had 30/30 - so I got him two pairs came home and I was exhausted from that trip ! He got home from work - saw the package and looked at the pants - I told him they were a gift, and I said I would wash them and he went to get his snow tires on his car as we are expecting snow this weekend and very cold temps next week.

Dianne, did you get everything done ? How was the afternoon with the young girls ?

Mare, you know your situation best and have to do what you need to do. Sometimes you have to let go of adult children but can still keep an eye on them from a distance. Are you preparing the house for sale ?

Anne, the nephew's girlfriend has access to money and I never ask them questions, but Gene did say they are talking of getting married ! Nephews mom is NOT going to be happy about that, she dislikes this girl friend.... it has not affect on me as they are not in my life or in my face - they are living their own lives - I really hope you can get a lot done for Ashley, and how did the surgery go ? When does Theresa have surgery, or is she going to have surgery ?

Cathy, oh my that is disgusting, do you think Jeremy was acting out because of things happening at home ? I hope nothing serious was wrong from the bleeding - any idea where it was coming from ? That teacher needs to step up to the plate better and keep an eye on those kids ... you think she would have learnt something about their behaviour by now, course when your away a LOT its hard to observe ... Hope your day today was good !

Terri, how are things going ? Are you getting snow too ?

Betsy, sorry about the lost post, I try not to use my phone because the various punctuation marks do not come out right on spark, no problem on face book though. How was your day?

I need to go move the stuff into the dryer, talk to you all later ...

I hear from him, he is technically homeless but thereís a good shelter where heís at.
I canít believe how much better I feel and how the stress just melted away but I really hope he can get it together.

Morning! Sunny here today--but cold. We should have 60s on Sat and Sun but also rain. I do plan to open some windows anyway!

Anne--the locker room was closed due to leaks in the roof--and the ceiling was falling. This building isn't new but they haven't maintained it well--the CEO is paid WAY too much and the building isn't maintained. Makes me mad how they spend the money. I do like the sauna--the dry heat is "hotter" to me! No issues at the dentist--hooray!

Cathy--that is awful about that young man. This should show the administration how much YOU are needed. And what a mess--I expect the janitor services isn't too happy with this guy right now, either.

Today is going to be grocery store, more laundry, sweep/mop/bathrooms and then I get the girls at 3 from school. No choir--our director had thyroid cancer surgery on the 2nd and isn't back yet. I am also getting into vacation planning mode--need to figure out foods. DD3 made her last reservations so we all have skis and shuttles lined up.

Hi all!
I think I have caught up on all the chat!
Cathy, glad the shots helped your knee and hip. Sure hope their effect lasts long! I do not want to have to replace my appliances...I do not like the ones available now! Sad that Jeremiah is having issues. I hope he can get some help! I am not so sure "normal" kids can figure out money...especially when I see how some of the shifts come out, lol! Hope you can find a place with a pool.

Dianne, what kind of renovations are they doing at the gym? I would be upset if the locker room wasn't available...and the steam room! I do love the steam room and enjoy the sauna, but not as much as steam. Hope they get the work done quickly so there won't be too many disruptions. How'd you make out at the dentist?

Lindie, that is an expensive apartment! Where did they come up with that down payment? Hope Gene gets back all the money due him! How's your cold doing?

Betsy, hope you find that check (and any other missing papers, if there are any)! Sorry you cna't make it to both the memorial and the celebration of life. That's kind of tough to do both back to back. Hope Cindy does well with it! Hope your DH can get that surgery on the 4th. He and you must be getting annoyed with the delays...though better safe than sorry! Will he be able to be there for the play?

Terri, sould like a nice visit with your grands on the coast. Were you surprised that the parents "slipped" away? Yay to your decorations being almost all put away...or all put away by now! How are the stairs...almost done? Did you finish the shirt? Glad you used due diligence in finding the rightful owner of the package!

It has been busy and hectic. Tom's wife is having her surgery in about 15 minutes...it is a 2 hour long procedure! Praying all goes well and that she doesn't have any repercussions from having surgery! I finalized my flight plans last night with Tom. I go down on the 15th and return on the 26th. I may need to check a bag after all...booooo! I need to get back to work.

Have a good Thursday!

Anne

Betsy, hate when that happens---maybe needs to be defraged? Or did someone leave a program running?
Dianne yes, I am sure every ladies is glad that is reupened. Do you ever use the sauna? Not sure if I would like it unless I had a day where I got really cold and needed to thaw out inside. I haven't read any of the Star Wars books so can't give you any results, but maybe the library has them in the kids/teens section for you to try. Who is doing a Han Solo challenge?
The doctor game me a shot in my knee and in my hip---and I feel so much better. Still a bit sore but I can walk like a normal person and came up the new back steps like a normal person, too, when we got home. Still feel a bit when I walk but not major pain and think I need to get the muscles back into shape--so I am starting out with small walks here at home.
Teacher had major issues with Jeremiah yesterday---he stole a soda---guess from Walmart---she discovered it when they were at Sam's Club---so he is in major punishments---so when they got back he acted up, he went into the bathroom and started playing with him poop and somehow hurt himself so that there was a lot of blood. He was taken to the nurse and his mom was called to come get him. Sure hope she was told to take him to a doctor to see what he has done to himself. Now you see why I don't like to miss days with my kids---I would have been all over him too but know to watch out when he is bored and goes to the bathroom---never hurt himself before though so this is new. I think something is going on at home as he has been off for a couple of weeks.
Our dryer has gone up---just discovered that late afternoon---so I am meeting Dh at Lowe's to order a new one---hopefullly can be delivered either Friday or Saturday as Dh has to do his laundry and he doesn't want to have to go to the laundromat to dry them but he might just have to So I will get some extra walking in Lowe's after school today.
Just 2 more days to work this week. I did enjoy having a day off in the middle of the week.

Morning! I just did a 42 minutes walking/toning video--whew! I am also glad the upstairs locker room was open yesterday--I think they were getting LOTS of complaints--that is where the steam room and sauna are located for the women.

Betsy--oh, no! I am sure there are lots of important papers wherever the check is! You will find it--just may take awhile. I hope DH has help with the play--and that all is well by then for the surgery.

Cathy--I was at Barnes and Noble yesterday while waiting for my friend and saw lots of Star Wars books. I would love to read something that had MORE meat than the movie but I won't buy them without someone recommending them. Maybe I will check the library..... I saw a Ben Solo challenge but I'd need to borrow your light saber! I know we will buy the movie--I have the complete set with the first 3 on VHS--DD1 wants those because they are original--without the updated special effects. Hope the shot helps your knee. I will say my mom regrets having taken so long to get the 2nd knee replaced.

Lindie--you raised Gene right as he tries to help his cousin. I missed my Bible reading yesterday--not sure how but need to do double today.

Anne, Terri and Mare--hope you are doing okay. I need to shower and get ready for my dentist appointment--oh, joy.

Anne, before I forget it again, it might be the charger cord for the kindle---we had that issue with Dh's and got him a new one, and the new charger that came with that worked in the old one, so then he had 2---LOL---so he charges one while using the other, then switches them out----he is addicted to playing games as much as I am---LOL
Dianne, glad they had the locker room back open. There is another option but not sure if we will go there or not---my pool friend Nancy is checking into it for us----I think I would want to go see and check it out before I make a decision. Sounds like a fun time helping your friend pick a dress out for the wedding. Did she buy 2 so the bride could choose which one or which one would go best with the other mother's dress? I thought it brought a good ending to the whole thing but left it open for more if they choose. I would always be ready for another Star Wars movie----LOL
Betsy, hope Dh's eye is all set for that date and that he has a quick recovery---is there someone that is helping him with the play this year that can be there when he is out? Glad the potty training is not going too bad.
Lindie, glad Gene could help them out and glad they got a new place to stay---hopefully they will pay their rent and keep this place--maybe a scare of having no place will make them realize that rent and food come first and not other stuff. Hope you got a good night's sleep and that the cold symptoms continue to decrease.
My teacher has been coming in---although she is sick and looks horrible---but hey, not my fault you used up your days already.
I go for my shot today in my knee----hope I won't feel the need for the cane after today--also hope he will give me a shot in my hip on the other leg---overuse of that leg has set that off.
Pretty cold here but no snow---not sure if Dianne got any from the system.

Dianne, wasn't Jeopardy fun? I have the DVR set to record the remaining two shows.

Cathy, so far potty training Nellie has been relatively easy, it's just keeping the babies out of the bathroom that's been difficult. I wouldn't train Dalton either.

Terri, what a crazy delivery story!

Lindie, are you feeling any better?

Anne, I forgot, will you be able to help your daughter after the surgery?

DH's eye is improving but not enough to have the surgery today. It is scheduled for Feb. 4, one week before his play performance. They didn't poke around too much today so DH was able to hang out with me and enjoy the children, especially baby Cooper.

Things with DD2 are complicated but today I decided her apartment is her mistress and this is her home. She has some good options for when her lease is up but that is not until September.

Nellie's parents pointed out that my check from them for the second week of December hadn't cleared their account so now I have to find it. I have everything up until that week so now I am wondering if I misplaced all the checks for that week or they got temporarily lost in the shuffle as we were preparing for Christmas. I have been keeping St. Anthony very busy lately!

Before I go searching, I don't think I mentioned that my friend Cindy is now planning a memorial for her mother this Thursday, only two days before her late husband Tim's celebration of life. I really want to attend both but I just can't take another day off after being sick in December.

Hello! I didn't get on this AM--went to the gym and then met a friend to look at mother-of-the-groom dresses--found 3 for her--she actually bought 2 of them. They are not full-length but pretty much regular dresses--the wedding will be nice but not fancy. Then we had lunch and I went to see Bob--he apologized for yesterday--he just gets into weird moods.

Cathy--we saw the Star Wars movie last night--it was good but not great. I had made predictions and I wasn't right! That was a great way to end yesterday. Getting rid of the pool classes? That would certainly have me quit! The Y won't keep me if they stop pool classes. Today they had the adult women's locker room open--guess they got LOTS of push-back! So they have work to do but we could use it.

Betsy--sorry you have such a handful! Good luck to hubby with his appointment.

Lindie--take care of yourself but yes, you need some fresh air! Good luck getting $$ back from the storage--they likely won't give any back if Gene paid for the month.

Anne--I hope all works out okay with the kids.

Terri--what a mess with the names! DD3 had something that was mis-delivered and she had a hard time getting them to straighten it out! Hope the other Steve comes and gets it! Glad you had time with the grands. I heard you will have "winter weather" at least in the northern coast area--DD1 is heading up to Mendicino.

I have a dentist appointment tomorrow--wanted to walk over but supposed to be 34 for the high tomorrow--and windy. Going to go watch more Jeopardy!

Anne, no wonder he didn't want to go into work---dealing with that email would be a pain---no, I didn't grimace about going into work but would have it the teacher was not going to be there. What did the Father say about you needing more time off? Bet he will be more understanding than the gas station will be.
Dianne, so did you have to come home in wet clothes? We just found out last night that they have done away with our water program at the therapy place----really bummed about that and very glad I had not paid yet. Also not happy about not having a place to go to get in the pool for either one of us. Not sure if I really want to go to another place but will talk to the doctor about what kind of exercises are safe for me to do and what machines I should not use. I really do hate going to a gym---they say no jeans----okay for summer as I can wear capri, but what do I wear in the winter?
Lindie, glad you got some more meds for your cold. Just remember that a cough might linger for a couple of months after you are better. What in the world would Gene do with the stuff in the storage unit anyhow? Always a pain when dealing with family. Is your gd back in Canada and not in Maryland? Did they break up? Glad she finally got a degree in something and wants to move on.
Betsy, oh,my , to off and running with kids. I am so glad I don't have to potty train anyone anymore! Although Dalton's mom seems to want us to do that with him---and not going to happen! LOL Hope you find some time to relax soon and catch up.
Terri, guess the kids are old enough to be left on their own there. How nice that you were there to take them to lunch and then end up getting new shoes for you. Steve is making good use of some of the extra stuff at the ranch to finish off those steps. Sounds like you made good progress when you stayed home while he went to the ranch. Hard to believe that someone with his name has moved to your area---it's not like you have that common a last name---at least here but maybe there? Hope the guy returns the call and comes and gets his freezer. Maybe he would be interested in your house?
So, on the new shed---it is just for outside decorations---and he has it quite full of that stuff---yes, we have that much stuff for outside decorations---LOL---and I don't want the indoor stuff outside---at least the basement is a bit less prone to issues that an outside shed would be. The new shed is working out nicely for all the wire stuff---most of it is storing nicely on the upper portion and so far the bins are all fitting in there and he has a space where he can work on things that need work on over the year.
Well, she showed up to work---we did make a lot of copies yesterday----let's just see if we use them now. She gave the kids a money sheet to work on---I had to work with them on it----she saw then that they were no where near ready to figure out how many and what coins to equal up to a certain amount. So she printed out a lot of back to basic sheets for them to work on. At least if she is out I have something to use.
I did finish off the village people yesterday along with helping dh put a few things into the shed. Dh will be able to bring up empty bins for me to fill, then Michael can come over to take them down when he has the chance. I think there is only one bin that Dh won't be able to bring up as it has stuff that I need to put back up around the house.
Have a good Tuesday!

I'm here and trying to keep up with reading the posts. We went to the coast yesterday and went to church where Jenny's family goes (and she works). Found out that she and SIL had slipped away for the weekend for their anniversary, so we took Mary, Joseph, Tim and Jasmine out to lunch after church. Then went to visit Lily at the western store where she works and ended up getting myself a new pair of shoes. Then grocery shopping and home.

Today I got all the house decorations packed and loaded into the bins and Steve took them downstairs. We still have a couple of bins on the front porch that only have house lights in them, so maybe those will go back down tomorrow and we'll be done. I finally got started with all of it on Saturday and got all the linens and rugs washed and dried so they were ready to be packed. I did all of that while Steve went out to the ranch for more rocks for his steps. I would've liked to go out with him, but really wanted to tackle the clutter and get it done.

I haven't been sewing any more, but still hope to. I finished my shirt and like it enough to make another. I may shorten the sleeves a little bit as these are a little long. Not enough to bother with fixing them, but I would make the next ones about an inch shorter.

Funny thing happened tonight. The UPS truck drove up to the house after dark with an order for Sarah. They don't deliver out to the ranch, so she will have things dropped here at the house. There was a soft envelope and a huge box, so I called Adam to see if he could swing by on his way home from work to pick them up. He did, but noticed that the large box had Steve's name on it!! We don't remember ordering anything, so were puzzled. Maybe my brother had ordered something for us for Christmas and had it sent here? (He's done that in the past and neglected to mention to us that it was coming or even have a gift notice inside!) Well, it's a small freezer. The size that would fit in a dorm room or something. Why would my brother think I needed that? Maybe it wasn't from him? Steve had already torn the box apart, so I had him go find the invoice so I could see if it mentioned anything about being a gift. It had Steve's name on it, but the wrong PO Box number on the invoice--yet the sticker on the box had our physical address on it! Curios-er and curios-er...

...So I called Wayfair and finally got past the computer-generated options and spoke to a real person named Sylvia. I explained that we had received a package that we hadn't ordered and wondered if she could tell me who had sent it. She took the order # and said that Steve had ordered it to be delivered to the local Pharmacy--WHAT?! I told her that he hadn't ordered it and we don't own or work at the local pharmacy. Now confused, she asked if she could put me on hold while she called someone to check it out...a couple of minutes later, she returned to the phone with "good news". She said, "I called the number given on the order and 'Steve' said that he had ordered it for the pharmacy. I told him that his wife had received it at their house and he said to tell you that it's for the pharmacy--so your husband did order it after all."

"Umm--no, actually MY husband is sitting right here with me and we didn't order it." I was laughing by now because we think we know what happened. There is a man we met a few years ago at the church the kids go to who has the same name as Steve and we think he's moved to our area. I explained this to Sylvia, who was quite confused by the whole thing. How could UPS get our physical address on it then? I told her that we are such a small rural community and get a lot of deliveries at our house and we're well-known by all the drivers (UPS, FedEx, et al), so they probably don't know about the other man with Steve's name yet. We're going to have to become acquainted with him because I foresee some confusion in the future with some deliveries. Sylvia thanked me for calling to sort it out because it would've been a mess if I hadn't. She gave me the phone number for the other Steve and I called him right away. I got his voicemail, so left a message and our phone number. It will be interesting to find out if this is the man we met at church or yet ANOTHER Steve with our last name!

I only have 9 minutes until the dinner timer goes off but I wanted to let you know I am still here, just having a hard time keeping up with my life. Lindie, Mia and Nellie's grandmothers relinquished then so they did come back today. Nellie came back in the midst of potty training, Mia has a cold (her eyes don't look good,) and Cooper's mom reported he was constipated. What a way to get back into the swing of things! At home, Nellie just goes around without pants or undies and just uses the potty when she needs to but that doesn't work here because the babies would play in the potty. I had to stay on top of things but she did quite well today. Also, you are right, family issues combined with strep throat were and are very draining, I don't know how I raised one daughter who firmly believes she does not need a man to "complete " her and be happy and one who believes the exact opposite, sigh.

DH goes back to the retina doctor tomorrow and they may or may not do surgery. I can't take more time off so I have a friend driving Dh just in case and he didn't fight me on it, nice surprise! My timer just went off so I have to go. One day I will catch up for 2020 and maybe by 2021, I will be caught up with 2019.

emoticon and Happy Monday everyone, I am still alive and kicking, but not much energy and the cold is still on going - I did manage to get out for a short walk to the corner store yesterday and that tired me! I also went to Safeway last night, Gene drove and picked up some other cough stuff from the pharmacy, they recommended Benedryl and that has helped quite a bit. Still coughing, and blowing - now a rolling cough that comes spontaneously - I hope this is gone soon !!

Dianne, glad you enjoyed the play and you were able to get the same seats next year. 10 years os a long time to volunteer for something, and perhaps its time to pass the hat on to someone else - maybe there is another area you would rather volunteer. Did you take the Roomba back? I can see where you would have preferred massages !

Mare so sorry your DH fell and you have that to deal with as well as selling the home, but what timing for the fall to happen when his daughter was there to see just how he has deteriorated and needs to be in a home. None of us really want to go there, but in the end, some of us have to. I hope the daughter is now more cooperative. How is your son doing ?

Cathy did the teacher show up ? I hope she did and you had a good day today. Are you almost done putting the festive items away ? How is DH feeling, is he better, or has he come down with a cold as well ?

Terri, how was your weekend, did you manage to get a lot done, what am I asking ? Of course you got a lot done, your not an idle person !!! I am sure you got a lot accomplished.

Betsy, how are things going, are you back to full capacity with daycare and are you fit enough for it, I beleive you had strep before the holidays, so thinking that might have drained a lot of your energy - not to mention other family issues that can be draining !

Anne, did you have the talk about more vacation time, perhaps you might not need it, maybe Ashley has health insurance that can provide for health care assistance ? What about her parents, or family do they ever visit or help ? I understand you not wanting to use your vacation right away , what about unpaid leave ? would you be willing to go a few weeks without a paycheck? Could you go a few weeks without one, J would still be working, right ?

I got a surprise message from my granddaughter and we chatted on messanger for a bit and she told me she now has her Associates ( Environmental ) (?) and is trying to get into McGill U which is in Montreal, why am I not surrpised at that ? I know she loves Montreal - no idea what she wants to take but she did say learning is fun = well maybe for her not for me LOL and that will take lots of $$$ wondering if her mom will pay ....guess she will be one of those professional students .....

Tomorrow Gene will move my nephew's stuff out of the storage locker and then cancel it or maybe keep it for himself, I suggested he could put his snow tires in there since its already arranged - he was going to rent a pick up truck but they wanted his CC number over the phone and he said no. But he could go rent a truck tomorrow, its not a busy day for moving as its not even the 15th of the month .... he will do what he has to, I intend to stay home and stay dry !!

Have a good day everyone and enjoy your Monday !! emoticon

Morning! I got to the pool class today--the adult women's locker room is closed so I had to use my lock--and had trouble with that! Wasn't my day! I got a one hour class in and came home and made coffee (the Keurig from church wasn't working so hubby brought it home to troubleshoot and got it fixed--so I made coffee!). Now to get at something. I have stamps to sell or give away (for making cards--DD2 has a bunch and sorted them).

Cathy--maybe you need to put a bug into someone's ear to come observe today! Good for you for not "okaying" her staying home. Glad you are making progress at home.

Anne--good luck figuring out what to do. I am glad that I don't have to answer to anyone for my time. Granted, I have no income but...LOL. I am making some progress here and that helps me feel better about stuff.

Betsy--back to the real world--I expect you have everyone back! What is up with DD2 drama? Any chance of her finding a job by DD1?

Lindie, Terri and Mare--hello and happy (?) Monday!

Hi all!
Dianne, thanks for the info about what you do as coordinator for this ministry. Yes, 10 years is a long time. Do you think people will step up from a notice in your church newsletter? I think a good portion of our volunteers have been "tapped" on the shoulder by others or the priests. I hope you can get someone to take over!

Cathy, sure hope the teacher does come in and not be a slug! Maybe you should call in sick (or go home sick), then she would have to work a bit! Are only the outdoor Christmas decorations going in the shed or just the "big" things? I actually thought you were going to put your bins out there, too...so you and Howard wouldn't have to keep calling on Michael to bring them up and down for you. Is it just part of your village that is left to pack up or do you have anything else?

We ended up shopping for pillows yesterday. It cost waaaayyyy too much, but at least someone is happy and will stop pestering! I bought them at Kohls with my Kohls charge so I should get some Kohls bucks and can pay for the charge card balance in one lump sum or over 2 payments. I try to keep that card paid off...one less thing to think about.

J would be helpful with just getting the kids to school and if Ashley needed to get to an appointment. He actually is very good about picking up messes...we both dislike a lot of clutter, so it works out well.

Cathy made the comment about "back to work" on the chat board, J said the same thing...with a grimace. (Cathy, did you grimace?) He told me he has a ton of emails to deal with...most have to do with job pricing and permitting. I do not blame him for not wanting to go back, lol! This isw why he tends to not take much time off.

My Kindle Fire won't charge...the plug-in area is too loose. I am bummed. I only got it in August of 2017...seems too short a time to have to replace it. I am thinking it will cost more to have it looked at and repaired than to get a new one. I will have to decide what I want to do. It was much nicer having the Kindle on the plane than the computer or my phone, lol!

I need to go out and try starting my car up...never stopped to do it since we got back from GA. I hope it will start, but if it doesn't I will have plenty of time to walk up to the church and deal with it after Mass and breakfast with my sister. If I walk up, she can give me a ride back home, lol! I told her to come to the rectory about 10:15, since I am going to meet with Fr. J about time off.

Have a great Monday!

Anne

Mare, sorry he fell at home but that shows just how much he needs to stay at the home and that his dd could see that you can't take care of him alone. Don' tfeel bad---you have done a wonderful job this long and there comes a time when you can't do it all---I had to keep telling myself that when my mom was so bad off at the end.
Anne, glad you were able to get all the info added into the computer---that would be sad for you to have to use all your vacation time for this crisis but honestly, how much help would J be if he went? LOL You would notice that things needed to be cleaned and find things to help them out where he would have to be told---we know men never notice a mess! Or very rarely!
Dianne, glad you enjoyed the concert. That is a long time to be in charge of that--no wonder you want out of doing it or at least help with it. What if something happened to you and you weren't able to do this? Any plans for this week?
Teacher kept texting me yesterday---think she was trying to get me to say it would be okay for her to take another day off---no way was I going down that rabbit hole! Everyone came back with the flu from their trip. She said not to expect much from her today. She best watch that---that would be the perfect time for someone to come in on her.
I did get most of the village people put away, but not all. So I need to work on that when I get home. Also will help Dh put the wire sculptures up on the ledge that runs around the top of his new shed.
Have a good Monday!

Anne--I am the coordinator but buy all the breakfast/lunch foods and have to check back during the week. I have been doing it for at least 10 years....the nursey school that meets at our church is closed Holy Week--that is why the group stays with us then--it is too hard when we have nursery school and the guests. So lots of people fix the dinners but I do the coordinating pretty much alone and I am burned out. So--I need to write a note for our newsletter looking for someone to take it over. Haven't returned the Roomba yet but it will go back. He has agreed--grudgingly but still agreed.

Saw photos of my parents on FB and 3 of the 4 younger sibs. My sister drove down in a snowstorm to see my brother. We talked all the time she was driving home--over an hour! I don't like FB but I do like being able to see photos quick!

I understand not wanting to burn through vacation now....any close friends down there that could help? That is tough...

Watched too much football but did get outside of 1.5 mile walk. We had blue skies and sunshine! I'll take that!

Good morning!
Dianne, the symphony sounds delightful! Glad you enjoyed it and that you wish to attend again next year. Guess your seats are pretty good since you want the same ones, too. How long have you been the coordinator for the people that stay a week? Is it a team effort or just you? Holy Week seems like a tough week for people to stay or if they don't stay to expect to be fed all week. Perhaps you can find a few other people so you each can be responsible for a week or two...less burden for you! Nice that your DH helps Bob, too. Glad his glasses could be fixed. Did you return the Roomba yet? Glad DH sort of understands.

Mare, I'm sorry that your DH fell while visiting and that he probably is in the VA home permanently. However, if it is safer there for him then that is for the best. Prayers for you all!

Cathy, great timing for that call...a little earlier they would have been in the game and a little later they may already have been starting something else! Good luck with getting the last of the packing up done. I hope it goes smoothly. I also hope Howard is feeling better today. Does the heat help more than icing the knee? Yes, this damp weather is tough on the old bones and joints, lol! I didn't seem to think there were as many lit up houses this year, but I also didn't do a whole lot of driving around either, so I may have missed out on lighted up places that I would have seen in the past. I also never made it to either Shrine to their lights...makes me sad.

Lindie, glad you finally got a decent night's rest and perhaps last night was even better! Sorry to say, I am not a cat person and a 4 A.M. feeding is one of the reasons. Yes, I like petting other peoples cats, but even if J wasn't allergic I would not have one. Did you attempt to either go out or clean yesterday? Maybe you need to get out into the "fresh" air to get a boost of energy! Good idea to stay out of the nephew drama! I hope Gene will stick to his guns or if he feels compelled to help, make grocery purchases or other items that are necessary to live. If he gives any money it may not be spent wisely.

Betsy, I am so sorry about the situation K is in. Can she get out of the lease contract? Her friend/roommate sounds very selfish. Any idea why the ex-boyfriend was there? What a nightmare! How's the downstairs...all ready again? Will all the kids be back tomorrow? Are you ready?

I worked through all the December paperwork, got it all entered and printed out. There were a couple of notes that my boss left on them that basically didn't need to be left...they did not make any difference to the paperwork. I also got my boss the printouts she asked for. I was there a total of 6 hours, but everything is in order. I want to revamp my spreadsheets so that the data entering has a better flow, but I do not know if I can manage to do that...I need to have a lot of quiet time in order to make sure the spreadsheet formulas work properly.

I am not disappointed that the Patriots lost. I do kinda feel bad that Brady didn't get one more Superbowl under his belt before becoming a "free" agent. J had the game going while I watched Star Trek on my Kindle, so I really didn't pay attention to what was going on. However, since J likes the TV loud I could hear the commentators and the last part of the game they kept speculating on what Brady's next move is! Personally, if I were Brady, I'd retire...he and his wife have plenty of money!!! They should enjoy life and family!

We went to Mass yesterday, so no plans for today. I would have liked to have talked with Fr. J about Tom's situation, but it was too late to see him once I finished at the gas station. Oh well, later today or tomorrow. I am waiting to hear back from Tom about going down from 1/12 until 1/20...then reassessing. I asked J to take a week, but he claims he is too busy at work...4 projects all requiring his attention. He really dislikes going away alone (except if it is a fishing trip with my cousin). Grrrr! It would be nice if he could help! I don't really want to take all my vacation time now!

No plans for today...yet!

Have a blessed Sunday!

Anne

Morning! The symphony was wonderful--they played parts of the Romeo and Juliet ballet by Sergei Prokofiev. He wrote it in 1935 and it was very "modern" sounding. Parts of it made me think of West Side Story by Bernstein. (Same theme of Romeo/Juliet.) But a very nice evening with new-to-us music. I will get next season's tickets--and for our same seats!

Mare--sorry he fell but glad you had help. Hang in there!

Cathy--sounds like you are getting Christmas down as well. I expect church will need help to get things put away this week. I went to the church early today to clean out the fridge and all the leftovers were gone. I did get the 1.5 loaves of bread, gallon of milk and 1/2 gal of juice that they hadn't touched. Since I don't turn in any bills, I figure the food left that I bought is mine. I also got the dates for the coming year--Holy week, 2x in summer and first week in November. I really want to get out of this job.....

Betsy--let us know how things are going!

Anne--sorry about the Patriots....wonder what Brady is going to do. He certainly should have enough $$ !

Lindie and Terri--hi!

Off to get ready for church. I will be lay reader today cause they needed someone....

Anne, hope your boss corrected any snafus in paperwork while you were gone so you don't have to go down a rabbit hole trying to figure it out. Did she do a good job while you were gone? LOL
Betsy, she does know you turn off your phone at night, right? Or does she think that you are like her and on your phone 24 hours a day? No wonder kids are so tired nowadays. Yes, she has to learn to deal with issues or choose to move back out. It is a big bad world out there and she is learning that. I sure hope she was in a better frame of mind when you spoke to her yesterday and didn't ruin the rest of your day. How does your Dh feel about the whole situation?
Lindie, glad you finally got some decent sleep and hope you continue to improve. Did you stay home so as to not spread your germs? I have tried to get Dh to stay home today as I can tell he feels miserable but he won't listen. I am on the mend from my cold but it still has some lingering issues, just not as much.
Dianne, hope you enjoyed the symphony last night. So nice that you can get those season tickets ahead. Good idea to return that thing and get money for massages which you will enjoy much more.
I did get the tree undecorated and then texted Michael---great timing as they were just leaving Dom's basketball game and they came by. He took those 2 bins down and brought up 3 for me to work on. After lunch, Dh went to lay down in the bedroom---that's why I know he feels bad!---and I got to watch The King's Speech on Netflick. I think the rain was making my knee ache a bit more, so I watched it with it propped up and the heating pad on it. After dinner, when Dh was in the shower, I tackled one bin and put the snowmen away along with a bunch of other things scattered around the house---that bin is done----today I will tackle the village people and enjoy the lights on the houses for one more day as the other bin has house boxes in them so once I tackle them, the lights will be off..
Have a pleasant Sunday!

Guess I missed yesterday! Let's see--from memory--the battlefield is about 20 miles away. Bob is doing fine--he broke the spare pair of glasses his SIL had fixed so my hubby fixed them again. I did get his curtain fixed--the hem had ripped out somehow but I sewed it back up. We are about done with the tree--hubby will carry it downstairs and the outside lights are down. We have not seen the movie yet--I hope to go in the next week or so. We went to the wine tasting that I had purchased--really enjoyed the tastes--13 between the 2 of us--and we bought a couple of bottles plus got 2 "free" with the tasting.

Betsy--so sorry that DD2 is having the roomie issues with boyfriend. That should have been one of the things discussed before doing the lease. In many ways, GLAD your phone was off because she needs to deal with it. Hope you are easing into a full house again.

Cathy--I do hope you keep getting the extra pay for teaching--I don't think the teachers up here get away with so many days off--at least not the teachers I know! I know I am sore from exercise--my hips are complaining. I would also like to see more info on the hip issues due to first born/breech/etc. (Anne--let us know if you learn more!) I think we are going to keep the UW-Badger Santa up as a reminder of our friend--and it is too cute to put away.

Terri--how is the shirt? I am not doing too much sewing although I have lots of fabric! I may make another petticoat or short gown. I did make holders for reusable straws for the girls and me--and gave them straws as well. Enjoy the wrestling--I liked it when my brother wrestled.

Anne--sounds like you are back to busy! Watch out you aren't "blessed" with the administration of the program! I do hope all goes well for the surgery in GA. And yes, you can't ignore the cataract or hip follow-up. Hubby had his eye examined after the cataract surgery and needs a lens for his glasses but not much of one!

Lindie--happy birthday! Sorry I am late with it--no, instead I am prolonging it! LOL Yes, stay out the nephew drama--and help Gene stay out of it, too. I hope you are feeling better and can be out and about. I have a friend who has been sicke since about the 18th of Dec--she is JUST feeling 80%. We will go look for mother-of-the-groom dresses for a wedding on 2/29.

Mare--I guess your DH got out rehab and was back home--no wonder we didn't hear much from you. I hope you can find a buyer quickly and for a reasonable amount.

I finally told hubby I don't want the Roomba--he isn't pleased but I said I'd rather have the $$ in longer massages and he couldn't argue with that. So--I think it is going back--maybe today. We have symphony tickets tonight--and I need to buy them for the next season already! If I do now, I save $17 per ticket--but we won't know what the programs are. Since we go hear all of them, it doesn't much matter! anyway--have a good weekend all!

Good morning everyone, I am still around and trying to get over this cold, finally last night a some what good nights sleep - but up at 4 am and the cat decided time to eat ... I am getting tired of not going out and not having energy to do things. I need to clean !!! LOL

Betsy, I am very sorry that DD2 is having such a difficult time with her room mate - perhaps its time for you to interviene? That place belongs to friends of yours, does it not, and perhaps because of you, dd2 got the place ? She does need a place to go to feel safe, but really she should not have to leave her current home to get sleep. Perhaps its time to give the place up and evict the room mate ? I wish you much success in dealing with this as that room mate does not think of anyone but themselves ! Hope you are feeling better as well.

Anne, hope your day at work goes well and you had a good breakfast, so sorry to hear of the family members falling/breaking things. I hope that you will be able to determine if you are needed there for Ashley, or not, how is Theresa doing ? I never heard of that hip issue before, and I am 2nd born, not first, however, my great niece Harley was in a body cast for several months due to hip issues at birth .. never heard of that before either ...

Dianne, did you keep the auto vaccuum? LOL I have an imitation one, it works ok for under the bed, but really a swiffer will work better, and this just scoops dust or spread it, it does not vaccuum ... if you return it, what will you get inplace ? Glad you enjoyed the hike you went on - did you see Bob this weekend ?

Terri, hope you had a good trip to Redding if you went, I am not a fan of wrestling anymore, but my sister sure is - however, I would tend to think that high school wrestling is not the same as WWF (?) How is your shirt ?

Cathy, its too bad one of the kids had a melt down yesterday, but we all have them from time to time - even adults have a melt down once in a while. Did Michael come over and get the bins up for you ? Not a fan of mac n cheese, but how was it a burger ?

My nephew has obtained a place and will move in tuesday, no other details and I am happy with that - his mother however, keeps pesting about things, but I just leave it to Gene to handle, since he is the one she is pestering. Actually I would rather not be around her right now, as her attitude is some what questionable and not likeable. Such negative energy and I have better things to do then sit and listen to her cursing every other word ... family... well... anyway ...

I will see what I can do today, and how it affects, I am still coughing a lot but sinuses are not dripping like they were ... also not so much sweating either .... have a good one all !!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Sigh, I turn my cell phone off at night and when I plugged it in this morning, there was a string of texts from a very unhappy DD2 including but not limited to, " Why can't I be rich? I would stay away longer if I had my OWN place. I can't do this any more. Are you awake? I know the door will be locked but I need to come home, my roomie has her EX over and they are being so loud." The last one was, " Never mind, I don't want to go out into the cold." This is SO complicated and part of what exhausts me. I have a list a mile long of things to do today but obviously taking care of DD2 will take priority. One of the things on my list is catching up for yesterday and reporting in today for this team. Right now I am going to go start the laundry and go over a game plan with DH. Here's hoping you all had a better start to your day than we did here in central WI.

Terri, did you go to Redding for the wrestling match? Hope you enjoyed it and your gs1 did well, if you did!

Cathy, sorry that Jeremiah had such a rough day...and thus, so did you! Mac and cheese burger sounds intense, lol! Hope Michael will come by and get the bins for you, despite your not in the mood to do the taking down. I'm sure if the bins were there you would be in the mood.

It is grey and raw out. I have come to work at the gas station this morning. All my paperwork was nice and easy. I think the PM shift's paperwork usually is. I generally pull my hair out over the AM paperwork (fatigue and male boss handling money or sticker stuff).
Going to get the printouts that my female boss asked me for, then off to breakfast. I will take care of getting all the vacation paperwork taken care of after that. No other plans.

Have a good Saturday.

Anne

Anne, so far you are the only one besides me to have seen it unless Dianne hasn't reported on it yet---LOL I figured she would need surgery and have to stay off of it---that was a lot of breaks. Guessing they will be putting pins, etc in when they do surgery. Hoping they can get help until you can get back down there. I agree that you need to keep those 2 appointments. I know that a lot of insurances cover ih home health things like a visiting nurse and rehab people so they might cover a someone to help in other ways, too, for such a long recovery. It's cheaper than the person having to stay in the hospital or needing to go back without this help. I know it was very helpful with Howard's ankle care. No, I don't think he was looking for sympathy, he seemed truly pleased that he got new towels. He is definitely a very weird kid that I just can't seem to get a handle on how to deal with him. I think even the teacher feels the same way. Good idea to work on paperwork when J is not around to interrupt you as we all know he is very good at that----LOL I can be reading a book and not watching stuff on TV and Howard will start talking about what is going on----like I could care as I am not paying any attention at all to the screen ---or I am watching and I can see and hear the same thing he does. Duh!
Jeremiah had a meltdown yesterday morning--he came close to not having his birthday celebraton. Luckily the teacher next door heard him and came over and took him over with her for a while. When we got ready to go to specials, I went to get him to take him with us, and he started to lose it again so back he went to her. I think something had set him off at home that morning and he just couldn't handle it anymore. But he handled his punishment alright in the afternoon so we still had his cupcakes and drink.. I was glad when the day was over.though.
We went to Ruby Tuesday last night for dinner. We both got the Mac and Cheese burger. I highly recommend that new item. Even Dh was impressed by it.
Today I will undecorate the other tree and let Michael know that I need new bins brought up---not sure when he will come for that. I am not in that big a hurry to work on this stuff. LOL
Terri, did you get things done on your list.
Lindie, hope you enjoyed your birthday with some kind of treat.

I've been busy today. Made a list and tried to keep things moving all day. I'll try to catch up tomorrow if we stay home, but we're thinking about driving over to Redding to watch gs1 in his wresting tournament.

Lindie, hoping you are feeling better and can have a nice birthday! emoticon

Cathy, glad you were aware. It is very sad about the work ethic these days. My boss from the gas station sends texts every Thursday or Friday asking the gas attendants when they can not work so she can set up the schedule. I do not miss that job!!! You are right...D is weird! I wonder if he was trying to mess with everyone and have them feel bad for him because he got towels and not some neat play with item! Guess you really were exhausted yesterday...that's a lot of sleep time!

Terri, I was kind of taken aback when the doctor mentioned T's hip issue was related to a birth defect. I would like to see the documentation on it. If I remember when I see my orthopedic I am going to ask him about this information. Good for you using up those leftovers. We tend to do the same. Hope you can finish up that shirt today!

Dianne, did you find your dryer balls? I hear they work really well with clothes. Do they help with sheets and blankets? Are you starting the Bible from the beginning of Genesis and working straight through Revelation? Or does the program bounce a bit? Glad you enjoyed your hike!

Betsy, how are the wee ones adjusting to the return to daycare? How are you adjusting to being back in business, lol? Did you get the downstairs set up with Michael's help or was he a hindrance? Did you check out to see if there was any other damage besides that branch coming down?

Mare, will your dh remain in the nursing home? Is he understanding why he is there? I hope you can sell your house quickly so that you will feel some stress relief.

Tom told me that Ashley will have the surgery on the 9th and no weight bearing for 8-9 weeks, then PT and taking it slow. Long recuperation period! The term for her fracture is a trimalleolar fracture. I told him to figure out when he thought he could use help, but that I have 2 appointments that I can not reschedule...1/7 (cataract follow up) & 2/14 (hip follow up). I will change my dentist and annual appointments, if necessary.

I did not get anything done yesterday. J didn't get up til noon! He claims he didn't fall asleep until after 3:30...I believe he did, but he may have dozed in and out watching the clock when he awoke. Instead we went and saw Star Wars Rise of Skywalker. It was good, but long. I guess I just don't enjoy overly long fight scenes. Afterwards we went to dinner with Rich and his wife. Rich told me that one of the secretaries is leaving...she is going to be missed!!! She is the one that runs the ChristLife program. I am wondering what that will mean!

Now to pay the bills. I think I will deal with straightening out the checking account on Monday when J is at work and I am not!

Have a good Friday!

Anne

emoticon To Lindie! Hope you are feeling better!
Betsy, I knew she wouldn't be back until Monday and made sure I had enough work for the kids. Everyone worked well except for Dalton. Boy, I did not miss that boy at all over the break! He is my thorn in the flesh! I asked the kids what they got special for Christmas. Jeremiah was thrilled with his new laptop, Kalaysia got a new doll, Richie a new hamster, and then I asked Dalton---his answer was that he got new towels. Really! I am sure he got lots of nice things as they have money. The kid is just too weird! I am glad you had an easy start to back to work and hope you had help in sorting stuff.
Dianne, how close is that battlefield to your house? Sounds like a nice walk----it was a lot cooler here yesterday---needed my winter coat and had to defrost my car--but today is rain and a lot warmer temps again before another cold front moves in on Sunday. Did you have fun with Bob? Get any Christmas stuff taken down?
Anne, my sister's son is doing Uber in Portland and seems to be doing well. Glad your experience was good. Yikes to all the injuries while you were there. I wonder if that is why I have so much problems with my hips. I have always thought that there was something from birth wrong with my right hip---the one that locks and never let me sit Indian style. I can't even cross that leg over the other. I would not be surprised if she needs surgery on that break with that many bones broken---bet the doctor will be mad is she was putting weight on it at all. I know they were when Dh broke his foot and they found out he had been walking on it but the ER had not told him not to walk on it.
Mare, so sorry to hear that your Dh took such a bad tumble. Makes things rougher on you, too. Hope you can get your house on the market soon or at least ready in time for it to be listed in the Spring and that it sells quickly for you.
Terri, what are you going to cook next? I am not surprised that you have been living on leftovers--you are so used to cooking for a crowd that you find it hard to just cook for the 2 of you. I know I find it kind of difficult to decide what to cook---oftentimes we are limited to what we can have that won't create too much. Especially since then Howard thinks he needs to eat more and he sure does not need to do that---LOL Did you finish the shirt?
I agree with you about the teacher---but nothing I can do or say to change the situation----but a lot of the new teachers are like that. I was talking with another assistant who often covers for teachers who are out and no sub has been found----she says she is burnt out already and very tired of their lack of work ethic. She is old school just like me! I do get paid more if the teacher is out for a certain amount of time----nice when it happens but i would rather not have others in the room with my kids---nothing much for them to do. There was supposed to be a sub with me yesterday but she had a death in the family the night before so had to cancel---the vp came over to ask if I would be okay and I said I was fine for these 2 days.
At the end of the day I had help by others to take the kids to the bus ramp for me---that was nice---so I had enough energy when I got home to go to Walmart to get Jeremiah's cupcakes and gift for today. He's a crazy kid but I get him---he is getting sour candies and 2 bags of potato chips---he asked for them for Christmas---LOL
I had a headache last night so ended up asleep at 6:30---and slept until almost 5 this morning---guess yesterday tired me out----LOL So glad this was a short week of work! TGIF!

Anne--spaghetti sauce soup! YES--that's the way he likes it! I'm more like you. I want the flavor but I like more pasta. Yes, Steve's project has been intense and massive and he's glad he's nearly done. Getting started and the framework made and mounted really got him over the hump. Once he had that up, the rest has been much simpler. Not easy, because the 2x12 planks are stinkin' heavy--but at least simpler because he just needs to cut them and screw them down. I like the way the rock steps are turning out and will take another photo when he is done. I haven't been much help out there unless he needs help carrying something heavy, but I was locked in the sewing room until just before Christmas, so he didn't want to bother me.

Betsy, congrats on being able to move back downstairs. I hope you and your little helper were able to get things sufficiently organized before the rest of the little ones come back to you.

I had to shake my head when I read that Cathy was teaching today because the teacher wasn't there. This could end up being a very long year for you, my friend. I do think you should at least mention to the Principal that YOU are the one who it actually doing most of the teaching and should be compensated. Do subs get paid more than aids? If so, you should get sub pay for every day she misses and you have to be the teacher.

It's really sad when there is dysfunction among siblings when parents need care. We haven't experienced that because everyone was happy when my MIL moved up here with us. She had her own little cottage that Jenny could see from her kitchen window and we were just moments away if Mom needed us. Steve's sister had retired and was traveling full time and his brother and SIL were still working full time and had their own things to do on their days off, so Mom didn't get a lot of attention from them; whereas, there were a lot of us here to interact with her and look after her. She was never very social outside of her family, so she didn't have a circle of friends to hang out with like my mother does and ended up sitting alone in her apartment most of the time. A few times a year, Steve's sister and BIL would come through and park their 5th wheel over and DS1's house and stay for a few weeks, so she's spend a lot of time with Mom then. They were all happy about her being here near us. I hope our children are as supportive of us and each other when our time comes.

Mare, thanks for popping in. So sorry about DH's fall! You didn't mention any broken bones, so I'm assuming there are none. Best wishes for selling your place. We've been working on getting our ready to sell for months and it's been a slow process. We would be will to hire help if there were some available; however, anyone who's competent is already in great demand and busy elsewhere. Consequently, Steve is doing his own work and just taking it slow.

I've never heard of that hip thing being related to birth. I guess I could understand if it were a breach birth that was delivered vaginally rather than C-section. I'm the firstborn. I'm glad you had a nice Uber driver and that all went well. Our DS4 is an Uber driver in Denver.

Lindie, I hope you're feeling better by now. I guess you can't treat Gene like a youth in training when it comes to washing dishes, but you might let him know that it reflects on you when he doesn't do a good job. LOL I did as Cathy did with mine; namely, make them wash them all over again if it was clearly laziness that they were trying to get away with. But you can't do with with a grown man, nor should you.

For all of my good intentions, I didn't do any more undecorating yesterday, but I did get my shirt nearly finished. All I have left is the buttonholes and buttons and then I'll let you know how it fits. I like my shirts long enough not to ever show any skin or give me a draft up my back when I bend over. I don't like gaps at the buttons either, so that's why I'm hoping this fits the way I like it. If it doesn't, I can still wear it as an overshirt and just not button it but will make another one and cut it wider, if necessary.

We've been eating the pot roast I started on Tuesday for a couple of days. We were invited for dinner on NYE at DS1's house, so I let the roast stay in the pot and then started it up again the next morning. It was so tender by then that it was falling apart and SO good! I'll have to cook again tomorrow, I guess--if we don't go anywhere. We're thinking about going to watch dgs1 in his wrestling tournament on Friday and Saturday, but may not. The weather is supposed to be good and Steve may want to work here, so we'll see what kind of mood he's in tomorrow.

I missed Anne's second half! Anne, so sorry for the hurting women down in GA! Ouch to the sprain/hip and the broken bones! As a first born female, I wonder if I am at risk. And my DD1 was a breech and a first born female so she hits 2--and she is the runner!! Anyway, I hope you can help if needed. I do understand being at home again--I like vacation but love getting back to my bed!

Morning! I loved the hike yesterday--we were at Monmouth Battlefield--the first battle that the rebels didn't lose! It really was a draw but made the British think twice about this war. It was windy--not as cold as WI but I am glad I wore my long coat, hat and mittens! Came home to a hot soup--15 bean with ham. We ate supper while enjoying the Rose Bowl game--we were all done before the end of the game. Sigh--they gave it away with the fumbles and penalties. Oh, well--that will live on for a long time....

Anne--welcome back. Glad you can take some time to relax! The sister would LOVE to slap her brother--they do not get along. I will go see Bob today and play a game of UpWords.

Cathy--not surprised that you are teaching. The school and those kids are lucky to have you and yes, unless she is seen getting into trouble, the other teachers may start to emulate her. My wine glasses are not insulated--that would be really nice--but they are a nice glass.

Terri--hope your day was a good one!

Betsy--sorry you are still not 100% but glad you can ease into work with just the 2. I hope you are all put together by Monday. I understand Jan 6 but my tree is coming down today. I want to have things back to normal and I want my weights upstairs again. I am using U Healthy TV--for $16, I have LOTS of videos to choose from and have done 3 different ones so far.

Lindie--so sorry you are sick. I think we avoided the flu that SIL had--he likely caught it at airport or on the flight to NC. It isn't a long incubation. Coughing is a great (?) workout for the abs! At least it makes mine hurt!

So I am going to un-Christmas, work on my readings (yes, we have a schedule and I don't know yet about meetings--I expect but not sure) and I may tackle the laundry room. I got nice dryer balls--to bounce in the dryer and make things dry faster/with less static--but I can't find one! I KNOW I had 3!

Have a good short week!

Hi again!
Broke the message up into 2 parts in case J gets up and interrupts my train of thought...doesn't take much these days, lol!

It was great seeing all the family, but I am glad to be home in my own space. However, I may offer to go back down soon.
1.) Theresa's fall off the electric scooter sprained her knee and hip. The orthopedic seemed to think she may have had a minor tear to the MCL, but nothing else. She is wearing a brace. She also said Theresa's hip is seriously bad and does need to be replaced. She informed us that it was probably deformed from birth...apparently this is a new revelation...1st borns females, breech births, and a couple of other parameters are involved in this finding. The only one that fit for Theresa was being 1st born. I have a feeling that Theresa will be having that in the very near future, though she may hold off until school gets out.
2.) On Monday Ashley (Tom's wife) fell while roller skating and broke her left lower tibia in 2 places and left lower fibula in 1 place. They had her at the ER Monday night, but once diagnosed and ankle wrapped they sent her home. She is seeing an orthopedic today around 10:30 to see if she needs surgery. I am anxious to hear what is going to happen. I'm thinking once she is past the initial pain and the foot/ankle is "booted" she will be able to drive...but it is not going to be easy handling Bryce...a busy almost 3 year old!

On another note...because Tom was dealing with his wife's injury and Theresa's right hip/knee were bothersome...J and I had our 1st Uber experience. It was so easy. The person who picked us up was very pleasant and did not try to engage in conversation, but was responsive when we talked with him. That was fine with me! Both trips to the airport (home to Boston and T's to Atlanta) were smooth sailing. I was "frisked" at Boston (shimmery shirt and underwire bra were not appreciated by the x-ray machine thing). J was "frisked" at Atlanta (he left a small wrench from helping Tom put together the swing in his pocket and didn't take it out). Both flights were uneventful and had very little turbulence (nothing to write home about).

I am very glad to have today and tomorrow off. I intend to get some extra cleaning and paperwork done. Maybe I will start putting together some of the info for taxes. I should have an appointment the beginning of February.

Time for a cup of coffee!

Have a great Thursday!

Anne

Betsy, glad you are back in your downstairs. I thought a newly walking Mia was coming back today...maybe it is a good thing she isn't since rearranging is needed! Nice that Michael will enjoy being Mr. Helper! Sorry to hear that you are still a bit under the weather. I hope today is the last day that you have to deal with being not well! Unless one of my gf's asks, I probably will not see Little Women. Glad your family enjoyed it, especially DD1!

Cathy, I was wondering if the teacher would be in today, so I wasn't surprised to read that she wasn't! Wonder if she'll be back tomorrow, or just extend her vacation. She does not provide a good work ethic for these kids (or anyone else). I wonder what the other teachers think. The administration better be careful...monkey see, monkey do could happen! Yay to a completed deck/stairs and the wall in the laundry room! Michael is quite talented! Is he just gifted that way or did he learn from Howard or both? I agree...not a fan of button gaps...to try and avoid I buy larger button-down shirts, but not too often.

Lindie, sorry to read that you were feeling so lousy yesterday. I hope that you got a better night's rest and that you are on the mend. I liked your response to Gene about the leftovers on the "clean" dishes! I agree...tops are too short! I'd really like them to be at least another 4-6 inches longer...not everyone likes their belly showing!

Dianne, good description of stemless wine glasses. We have/had a few. I believe they were for red wine, so I did not find them comfortable in my hand. Since I don't drink, I used them for soda/water/juice/milk, etc. I think you should have no problem reading through the Bible in a year. Are their meetings to discuss, as well? It is good that Bob's daughter and SIL are willing to assist in paying for Bob's care. His son needs a Gibbs slap from his sister! I wonder if they get along. You definitely were smart to leave when the son came in to visit...no need to endure tension! How were those muscles after that workout the other day? Did you enjoy the walk throug the battlefield?

Terri, that is quite the intense job Steve has undertaken putting up those stairs! Are you assisting him at all? He should be very pleased once it is accomplished! How did your shirt come out? Any grands come visit yesterday? I like enough sauce to moisten the pasta and then a bit more to sprinkle the Parmesan cheese all over, lol! I do not want spaghetti sauce soup, lol! Hope the weather cooperates so that Steve can finish up those stair soon!

Happy Thursday, Team! I have been off for nearly three weeks but in some ways it feels like three months. Since it has been so long, I sent a text out reminding parents that I would be open today and half of them had other plans. I will be easing back into reality with only Michael and Cooper today and I am very happy about that.

Cathy, thanks for reminding me to watch season three of The Crown, I also watch without my DH although I think he would like the parts about WW11. You are using those wine glasses just the way I would, good for you! You are wise to wait for the DVD if you do not care for some of the actors and if you are totally in love with an older version. Reorganization needs to happen all over this house but it is going to have to happen in stages. Christmas isn't allowed to come down until after January 6 but we can put the Christmas China away. That is a two person job so I am hoping DH will be awake enough to do that tonight. Oh my goodness, I just reread your post and saw you have no teacher today, was that planned?

The bathroom may be nearly finished ( still deciding on baseboards) but there's a lot of organization that still needs to be done downstairs. Some of it was tackled at 5:45, a little more will happen now and Michael can help me with the rest, he'll like that.

Have a great day!

Betsy

Dianne, the women hold a family together much more than dads do---so no real surprise there. Those wine glasses seem to be a big thing right now. The school gave us each one for Christmas and I found it just right for using in the classroom as it keeps my ice really well---guess it's real purpose is keeping your wine chilled----LOL---but since I don't drink wine, I am using it for ice water/etc. I actually wore dress pants a couple of times over break as I do get tired of jeans---plus my knee seems a bit swollen at times and my straight leg jeans are a bit tight on it so I could only wear a couple of my jeans. How was the walk? Was it interesting?
Lindie, sorry you were so miserable---when I am like that I need to sleep on the couch so I can be propped up more. Is Gene blind that he couldn't see the food still left on the plate? Geez!, he is not a teenager anymore! I can remember having my boys do dishes and finding that when I went to put them away---they would have to come back and rewash the whole drainer full of dishes so they learned to make sure they were clean. Hope you slept better last night.
Anne, so glad you have a couple of days to recoop from your travels. Hope you find something pleasant to do.
Betsy, glad you can be back downstairs. I think from your report that I will wait until it comes out on DVD. I love the book, the old movie is good, and I am not that big a fan of some of the actresses and some of the ads for the movie.
I did get my laundry area cleaned---I do need to reorganize those cabinets but maybe later this month after I get Christmas stuff down. I also got the living room tree undecorated. Then Dh went outside to unplug all the outside lights and collect up his extension cords ---so I took the time to put the heating pad on my knee and watch the last few episodes of the 3rd season of the Crown on Netfick. At least I got to see it all over my break---I had to watch it when he was gone or doing something else.
Back to work today---no teacher but no surprise there. I have work for the kids to do and will get them to undecorate the rest of the tree there and get my friend to take it down and put it in my car either today or tomorrow.

Anne, emoticon home!

Lindie, feel better! emoticon There are still a few finishing touches remaining on the day care bathroom but I will work down there tomorrow, hurray! My throat still hurts but Tylenol can help that. Little Women was very good but people who like things in a linear fashion would not enjoy it as they go back and forth a lot. We all know it well enough that it didn't bother us at all. DD1 is the biggest fan and she absolutely loved it.

Dianne, boo to the Badger game emoticon We got over six inches of wet, heavy snow. We did lose another big white pine branch and have other branches stuck in the snow so we'll see what happens with those.

Cathy, boo to back to school tomorrow but hurray to the two day work week! emoticon

Terri, are things quieter now?

Happy New Year! emoticon

Hi all! Happy New Year! We made it home, unpacked, put everything away, then went to dinner, came home, and went to bed! Slept in this morning, did laundry, cleaned the fridge, went grocery shopping, put it all away, ate dinner, and am now vegging out. I have tomorrow and Friday off from both jobs! Will catch up tomorrow!

Good morning Friends, I sure hope your 2020 started better then mine did, I was in bed by 9:30 and coughed my head off all night long - still coughing this morning but not as much. I am feeling some what better but not 100% - in fact, I never got my 10,000 steps in yesterday and I did not even care lol !

Dianne, you can do it, you can read the bible in one year. Did you get a schedule of reading to do? The longest you would have to read at once would be Psalm 119 - you might want to do that one in stages. I do a daily reading - every morning with my coffee I have a text to read. Then I read the chapter it was quoted from and then any subsequent bible aids quoted. I rather enjoy starting my morning this way and sometimes that takes 15 minutes and some times it takes an hour. I quite often will also listen to the various chapters as this helps me with proper annunciation of names, places, and things. I am a phonetic speller as you might have guessed from my various typos ... It is very nice to know that Bob's daughter appreciates your efforts with him, and it is unfortunate that the son sees things through dollar signs, I have a family member like that too. I hope your trek/hike was a good one and you learnt something new about the civil war.

Terri, those steps and the stones will look fabulous and I am sure it will up the value of your property when it is time to sell. Are you anxious to get moving in that direction? It is good to plan a head, so make a plan of action and action the plan, you can do that and still stay in the moment of here and now. I am sure you are enjoying having family around, even if it was different this year. How is your shirt ?

Cathy, you got a lot done, I actually let Gene, or told him to do dishes last night as I felt he should, since I am not feeling 100% and this morning, a few went back into the sink and I did them with my self. He saw me doing that and I just said, that he might be happy eating today's food on yesterday's left overs on the plate, but I was not ... lol I too like longer tops especially when I wear tights. It is hard to find longer tops, with, or without buttons, everything is so short! How much did you get put away today ? I almost think that I should look at mini dresses and just use them as tops !!

Betsy, how did you find the movie? Did they stick to the book, or did they take advantage ? How are you feeling, are you ready for the lil ones to come back? How is the vanity and washroom doing ?

Anne, did you make it home safe and sound, and are you ready to tackle both jobs again ? I hope you dont' need a vacation from the vacation!

Mare I hope all is well in your neck of the woods and you are coping ok.

I best go and get this day going - I still have things to do I would love a nap but its too early !!

Morning and Happy New year! There were lots of fireworks around here last night--it was bothersome! I have a big pot of ham and bean soup going--it is in the crock pot now. We are both going to this hike--should be cold but fun to get outside.

The stemless wine glasses are more like an old fashioned glass--just the bowl of the wine glass with a flat bottom. And there is already no money from Bob--his daughter and SIL are supporting him with a little bit from SS. But his son still thinks there is a stash, I am sure. It is sad how that family fell apart when the mom died of breast cancer way back--at least 30 years ago.

Terri--yes, the baby doesn't keep things neat--she sort of tries but....her place is a disaster and her sister has called her on it--I just work to clean it up when I am there. Glad you are getting some sewing for you! I do like to get dressed up--and I do it for the folks at the home--they grew up when people DID make an effort so I do that for them. Plus it makes me feel better about myself! My weight is back up and I am bummed.

Cathy--I want to get things down but it will have to wait till after the hike and be done before the Badgers play the Ducks in the Rose Bowl. We will watch that game--in fact, we are both wearing our WI shirts! I am more of a fan now than I was when I was a student.

Betsy--I hope you aren't too hammered by the snow. My sister drove to LaX yesterday to move her college son into a house with 2-3 other guys. Not the best decision in my mind but...their choice. Is the day care ready to reopen in the basement?

Anne--safe travels!

Lindie--happy new year! I have started a "read the Bible in one year" with church. We'll see how I do in keeping up.

Time to stir the soup and get ready to go. I want to get my coffee! LOL

Seemed strange to type in 2020---don't forget to do that on any checks you write this month.
Anne, hope you made it home safely and get to take today off to recoop. Hope you didn't pick up any germs while on the plane.
Dianne, hope you are not too sore and can enjoy the hike in a new place. Is your Dh going with you or are you going with another group to the battlefield? We got a gift card to Outback, too. Like you, we prefer Texas Roadhouse---they have better food, better bread, and better prices and more things that I like ---I find Outback to be very limited in what I would eat and the same for Dh. Good idea to leave when they arrived---one because they don't come that often and because you feel uncomfortable around them. How nice that Bob's SIL told you that. I bet the son is afraid the father will leave you his money---but with the cost of the care for him, bet his money will be all gone anyhow.
Terri, interesting view! It did look good from up there and hope it set up well and he could move on. How did the new shirt come out? I avoid anything that buttons up because I hate when they gap when you do something. I even went thru my sweaters yesterday and got rid of a bunch of turtlenecks that are just too short---kept 2 that are longer and that I do wear occasionally.
Michael did come by yesterday---he took back the unneeded wood and bought the piece he needed to finish the deck so that is all complete. Then he finished off the wall in the laundry area with the baseboard. Now that area looks great and I need to get back there and clean off the washer and dryer to add to the look---that might be part of my task for today. He also brought up 2 bins so I will work on taking down the tree ornaments. I did ask him that whenever he can, to come by for a few minutes to take down any completed bins and bring up more for me to fill. The good thing is that Dh can bring up the empty bins but I don'[t want him taking down any full ones so as not to hurt his back. I think he is going to unplug the outside Christmas lights today. Kind of sad to see that happen.
Back to work tomorrow---sigh!
