I figured that it was the baby of the family, Dianne--but I wasn't going to say anything. I've met DD2, so I knew it wasn't that one. I hope your muscles don't punish you too much for the body pump class. Good for you for getting out there. It's too bad you haven't been able to develop rapport with Bob's son, but am glad his DD counts you as the blessing you are. In a way, one might expect that the son would be glad for the help, while the DD might fear being usurped. I'm very happy that's not the case. What do stemless wine glasses look like? I'm trying to picture them.

Safe travels Anne. I second Cathy's hope that you aren't coming back to any big messes.

Good job sorting all the clothes and accessories, Cathy. You must have quite a wardrobe! I have very little jewelry and don't wear what I do have. I don't really enjoy dressing up any more. I can't wear cute shoes and don't like fussing with my hair. I guess it's good that I don't have an office job. We don't plan to go anywhere tonight either.

Steve poured the footing for the steps yesterday and had to wait for it to set up before laying the stones. They kept wanting to sink down into the cement. Now he's back out there laying them like puzzle pieces for the first step and will mortar around them.

I think they will look great with the logs and rock wall.

I have my new shirt coming together and will finish it this morning. It's a pattern for a men's shirt, but I'll just put the buttons on the other side and if it fits the way I want it to, I may cut out another one.

Hello, all! I got to the gym for my body pump class--felt good but I may pay for it tomorrow! We are going on a First Day Hike at the Monmouth Battlefield -- it should be cool but not rainy and it will be a part of the battlefield we have never explored.

Terri--I will try to remind you to put hot pepper flakes into the hot batch next year! Sounds like you are cleaning up just like I want to--tree will be down by tomorrow night and lights brought in as well. Part of me would really like a garden but I won't win against the deer so I don't try. I do understand hurrying things along but it is important to stop and enjoy along the way.

Anne--safe trip back! Hope all is smooth for you.

Cathy--I think you asked what I got from Bob--a gift card to Outback. We went there last night--we do prefer Texas Roadhouse but I'll use what I have--LOL. Saw him yesterday and told him he was taking us out for dinner--he liked that. While I was there yesterday, his son, DIL and 2 grands came--so I left. These are the ones that he complains use foul language all the time and I get the feeling they don't like me. So--I let them visit without me. (Bob's daughter gave me a bottle of skinny margaritas, 2 stemless wine glasses and a gift card to Aldi's. Her hubby told me privately that I give her peace of mind--keeping an eye out for her dad.) I hope you get the back steps finished before winter sets in again!

Lindie--I expect the cinnamon will be a nice scent! I have heard of dogs being allergic to some diffused scents--nothing about cats but you may want to watch Amigo to see if he acts odd. Hope your cold is better!!

Betsy--I expect you are busy-busy! Are you getting the big snow?

Mare--glad to know you are around! 6 inches is nothing for the UP--are you still at the farm?

Heading out for lunch--then I need to get busy figuring meals for the next week or two. Oh--SIL cleans up after himself--it is DD3 who makes a mess and leaves it!

Dianne, sounds like a good workout for you. Hmmm, was one of them the SIL? LOL Are you going to the home today to see Bob? What did he give you?
Anne, yikes to her falling, I know when I fell I was much worse the next 2 days and then it was later that my knee started to swell so sometimes it is best to wait. Hope you have safe travels home and don't come home to too much of a mess at the Church or at the gas station with paperwork. Enjoy those last moments with the grands.
Lindie, hope your cold gets better, too. I am not sure if mine is getting better or not---LOL---or if is more allergy related. I opened up the house yesterday and aired out the house and felt better. Plus I made myself move more and that helped a lot.
Terri, I am kind of like Steve---I want lots of sauce---on my spaghetti and on my pizza, too. I want to be able to taste the sauce---like the sauce more than the cheese on a pizza. Yes, it is good to plan for the future but do take time to enjoy the season you are in, too. But as a gardener, I think we are always looking forward to Spring and getting some new plants into the ground. This is our dreaming and planning time for the gardens. Hope Steve has enough time to get those stone steps done before the rain starts. I doubt you all will use those steps very often but could see the kids thinking they are fun for a while----LOL
I never did get to Michael's yesterday---but we went to CVS to get some meds for him and then to Walmart to get bread----and I spotted something that should work at a good price there for my village stuff, so bought it there. I went ahead and put all the Christmas clothes away and moved the short sleeve stuff back into my closet and the Christmas clothes back to the spare closet. I packed up all the Christmas socks and got the other socks back out of storage, and put all the Christmas jewelry away and the regular stuff back on the hooks. I did wash all the Christmas dish towels and hot mats but that needs to be folded today and I will organize the bag that those go in after they are folded. Michael ended up having to work yesterday so he didn't come over to return the wood and put the last piece up on the deck---maybe today---it he comes I am going to have him bring up the tree bins so I can start dismantling them. I can't start anything else until they are down.
Hard to believe that this is the last day of 2019-----not going to go anywhere tonight---I am sure I will be asleep around 9 anyhow----LOL---a bit cooler today, too. We do need to go to Sam's club today---out of toilet paper---oh, my!---I do have an emergency stash that we might have to use today until we go----LOL Also need to go to the bank and to the post office today, too. So I should be out and about and moving a bit more.

I was going to keep the ranch grands today while their mom went and got her hair cut and colored, but she cancelled because they've got a cold running through the family and she didn't want to pass it on to us. Very thoughtful of her--especially since her SISTER brought a kid with a full-blown cold to a sleepover at the other grandmother's house. So it was good for you to keep your germs at home, Cathy. I hope you're feeling better quickly.

Steve is working on the stone steps today. It rained all day yesterday and he really took it easy all day. This part is going to have to be done in stages to allow the cement to dry before he stacks the next section. He is expecting a few days without rain, so wants to get it done as quickly as he can. He's also bearing in mind that when we get a big rain, he may be called back to work if that slide comes down. Nothing like having a deadline, right?

Uh-oh to Teresa's fall. I hope she's better today or that she sees a doctor to be sure nothing is wrong. Enjoy what's left of your visit, Anne. I completely understand what you mean about the grands messing up the house. My house is never as clean as I imagine yours to be, but I still get onto them for making messes; however, that's because I have them here so often that I don't hesitate to discipline them and they have grown up with me, so know my rules. I've often commented how blessed I am to see so much of my grands that I don't feel guilty about sending them home when I'm tired of them. For Jenny's family, I was more of a disciplinarian than their parents were, but they loved being here and never gave me much trouble. In fact, Mary Beth moved into our house because she loved the rules and structure. I agree that you would appreciate living much closer to them so you could be in their lives more without having to live with them for visits.

Dianne, I think DS1 has grown ghost peppers. DIL1 likes a variety and grew jalapeos, seranos and cayenne peppers last year. I used them all in my salsa and it came out really well. We went through 2 quarts on the day our family get-together. Even DIL loves it and that is HIGH praise! She thought I should sell it at Jenny's boutique but I forgot to take it. I'm not sure how much of my canned foods were sold there and the family likes it so much that I think I'd rather keep it available for our use anyway. I'm already planning my garden for this year and hope to start some seeds in January so that I have good-sized plants to set out as soon as the ground warms up. Pepper seeds take forever to germinate and grow, so they'll need an early start. I could have used some crushed red pepper flakes in the dish and that's what I should've done. I put it together the night before and let the egg batter soak into everything, so the flakes would absorb the liquid and soften. Remind me next year, okay?

I think that's why I'm always so anxious to get Christmas put away after the festivities. I am ready to move on to the next season. Right now, I'm thinking about getting our tax info. together so I can get that job behind me as soon as I can because I know that by the time February gets here, I'm going to be ready to dig in the dirt. Hmmm...I just had a thought flash through my brain...am I hurrying my life away? Maybe I need to think about that and be more contemplative and take more time to enjoy the season I'm in rather than always be planning for the next one.

Lindie, I think Wasabe has horseradish in it which would be an entirely different kind of heat. They say that the capsaicin (the ingredient in peppers that makes them burn) has strong health benefits. DD2 takes it in capsule form whenever she has a cold and says it helps. I haven't tried that and the Internet talks about analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties, but nothing about treating colds. I'm sorry yours is lingering and making you feel Blaah.

The last of the leftovers are officially gone as Steve is eating the last bowl of spaghetti and it's just the way he likes it. There weren't many noodles left, but lots of sauce. I always tease that he likes to drown 5 noodles in a bowl of sauce and call it spaghetti--but it's really not that much of an exaggeration!

Blaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh !!!! That is how I am feeling today! A cold from somewhere that is making things difficult, but actually, its not affected my appetite, my taste or smell, but my ears are plugged and a lot of coughing - no sneezing yet, at least I hope not, I am almost out of kleenex !

Dianne, good for you for doing that dance video, its hard ot go out in the rain, especially if its a heavy downpour - better to stay home and dance !! I laughed at your comment about 2 cleaning up - but not all - I have the same issue when family comes over - they always leave their empty starbux cups and then I have to gather them, rince them and put them in recycling LOL

Anne glad to know your vacation is going great, how is Theresa doing, is she better this morning, maybe a little sore or bruised ? I dread falling, always fall on my knees, and then they are black and blue and sore for months ! How is DH enjoying the trip ?

Cathy, those steps sound fabulous, I bet Michael did an excellent job doing them, are you putting anything down so you do not slip ? I hope your cold does not stick around, but mine felt like it was getting better then wham, back to square one - had this last year too. Enjoy your few days off before you head back to work, are you looking forward to going back? Did you get anything at Michaels?

Terri, sorry but I dont do hot spice at any time- although sometimes my samosis is very hot and I have to take a chew break. The only item I know that is hotter then pepper is wasabi that you get when you go to a japanese place for sushi - might want to see what they put in that to make it so hot - but have the fire trucks on stand by - even Gene found wasabi too hot and once he took a little bit too much and he was tearing up lol - hope you had a good relaxing day after all you have been go go go go since summer, so relax and have a staycation time.

Betsy, I hope the work for the vanity is going along nicely and things finish as you need them to so you can be back downstairs with your daycare and get your own living space back to normal, how is everyone doing ? Are you feeling better ?

Mare, hope all is well with you !

Ok off of here, I need to go in the cinnamon room - my mister is using cinnamon oil that might help with this cold ... am also drinking lots of pepermint and ginger tea too ...

Anne--I hope all goes well for your last couple of days. ERs are never fun but neither is getting hurt and NOT getting help.

We have rain--I was going to go to the gym but opted to do a dance video at home instead--at least I got some good exercise. I will hit Kohls today before this $$ expires. I hate to leave free money on the table! I would love to find a nice long top--I like the leggings but need coverage!

Terri--I know cooking the peppers does cool them off. Maybe you add some additional part way through the baking time? Not sure--I will have to do more checking. My brother grows the ghost peppers--I can't handle them!

Cathy--you could have kept the rain! Up by DD2, it could be ice. She will watch the weather and not be stupid--I hope. No teaching this week but the birds still need to be dealt with. I DO know moving makes the hips/knees feel better--they get awfully stiff just sitting around.

Betsy--I think you were to be in the 1-3 inches range. DH's aunt lives in Eau Claire and they are getting hammered--so is Wausau/my sister. I know there is snow for skiing--I don't need any here. I did get mulch on my front beds--the poor iris were so exposed! I will get for the back beds in the spring--it was getting too cold to do anything more.

Anne--sounds like you have had a good visit. Since my kids don't bring kids, they don't make so much of a mess. And a couple of them clean up after themselves! (Note I didn't say "all". LOL)

Mare--are you there? Hope all is going well for you.

I need to get my shower--I broke a sweat doing the 30 min exercise routine. I need to do more strength training but the dancing was easier! LOL

Cathy, I hope that cold clears up fast! Glad you have a couple more days to rest up before going back to work.

Dianne, I used to feel sad when my kids came to visit, but once they had two kids and my house looked like bombs went off in every room except my bedroom and the downstairs bathroom I am often glad when they leave and more sad that we live so far apart!

Terri and Lindie, how is the weather in your areas on the west side of the continent?

Betsy, are you feeling better? Are you experiencing the storms that I have heard are happening mid-country?

We are have one more day, possibly with all grands, but definitely with 2 sets. Not sure what we will do. Theresa fell on Saturday and really hurt her hip and knee. She opted to not go to the ER. I think she should have. Hoping she is better today. If not, she will go to her doctor. Since I now hear noise downstairs I will see how she is.

Have a great Monday.

Anne

Terri, I took my shower yesterday and guessing the drainage made me nauceous, plus I was coughing so much I decided not to spread my germs to all at church so I stayed home It is going to be warm here today--might hit 70 and I am thinking I should open up the house for a bit to air out some of these germs. I decided we needed to clear out some leftovers from the fridge last night, too. Has it been raining there or is Steve going to be able to work some more on the steps? I do like my new back steps and know I will when I come home from work all tired. Thankfully I don't have to go back to work until Thursday.
Dianne, sounds like good plans for today. I am going to make a concerted issue to move more today as I felt horrible yesterday ---not moving is worse for my knee when I get up than getting up and moving around does---isn't that crazy?
I would like to go shopping but not sure how much I can do---Michael's has a good sale on and I get 20% off with my teaching badge---I think I need another storage bag for some of my village stuff.
We will still have warm air here today but cooing down tomorrow---still some rain this morning. I think most of it is heading to Dianne.

Dianne, I do serve it with salsas--one hot and one mild. I also served Tapatio, Tobasco and Sriracha sauces and sour cream. They could make it hotter if they wanted, but I didn't get it into the dish this time. I'm glad you and DD2 were able to sing together for the folks and I'm not surprised that some of them could sing with you. Music is usually planted pretty deeply in our brains and can be quite therapeutic.

I cooked breakfast for us today, but warmed up spaghetti for dinner, so we weren't quite finished with leftovers. There's enough for one more bowl, so that will be lunch for one of us tomorrow. Laundry is caught up and put away, dishes are done and put away. I didn't get any real cleaning done today. Just some tidying, but that helps too. Now I think I'll get my knitting and see what we have for Netflix for the rest of the evening.

Hello, all! We had a nice service this AM--actually got to have a hymn sing with Christmas songs! It was well received and I got my favorite "There's a Song in the Air". When we went to the home, we did 2 duets and then sang Christmas songs and hymns--DD2 and I did 2 part harmony and the folks were singing along. I go again on Monday--tomorrow--but just me. DD2 got home, got her computer set up and is a very happy girl. DD1 and SIL are flying to San Jose as I type. They flew through Chicago but no issues.

I am sad to have them gone but we had such a great time that I knew it wouldn't last! We don't have a date set for the next get-together but we will see DD3 in CO when she comes to ski with us. That will be nice. And we need to go to CA--haven't been for quite awhile--since I saw you, Terri!

Cathy--your new deck/steps sound great. Enjoy! It was warm here but not THAT warm--and we had some spitty rain--not as bad as they had at the Giants game but still it was wet outside. The leaves are out of the gutters--I do want to get the gutter guards so we don't have to do that any more.

Terri--the deer may still nibble on the ends of the branches but hopefully they will not bother too much. Good to get them into the ground although world be too hard to dig here. I'll have to think on the spices for your egg dish if you want HOT. I would serve it with hot salsa....

Anne--I hope the last days of the visit are precious! Sounds like it has been good. My dad did get out ice fishing--they weren't biting too well and the guys did give him enough fish to make 2 meals--that is 12 fish. WI was getting rain and that will hurt the ice fishing for awhile.

Betsy--doing okay? Aaron pulled it out for the Packers--I do hate losing to the Lions. And Crosby hopefully got rid of the demon that had been bothering him in that stadium!

Lindie--I hope you have had a good weekend. I cannot believe it is almost 2020!

Hubby goes to work tomorrow. I will spend my Kohls cash, visit Bob and sing with my folks. Also plan to go to the gym for something--no classes to speak of tomorrow. I did cook today--more than heating up soup or leftovers!! LOL

You're going to love your new steps, Cathy. Will you stain them to match your deck or paint them to match the house? My DIL is not Mexican, but Salvadorean and the cuisine is similar in some ways, but different in others. They use a lot of the same staples, but prepare them differently and don't use as much heat in their spices. My son actually likes things spicier than she does.

Our rain has arrived, so today will be a quiet day working inside. Steve is relaxing and I'm here with you for a few minutes, but plan to go upstairs and begin making order of the chaos.

I hope all are having a wonderful Sunday and those who have been ill are recovering well. I know that some are back to work tomorrow, so hope you are well rested.

Anne, sounds like you are having a nice relaxing time there and aren't rushing around. Good luck at the bra store. I got measured once---She brought me a bra---it was so lose and had no support for the gals--obviously she had no idea what she was doing---so hope where you go they actually know what they are doing. Hope J catches something on his fishing trip.
Betsy, woohoo to the bathroom almost completed, Glad you are feeling better but still have time away from the kids to get it all cleared out. Oh, my, to Mia now being able to walk. She will keep you hopping! LOL
Dianne, you have been busy--glad DD2 was able to stay with you longer than the others. Did you get all the leaves out of the gutter? I am sure we should be doing that, too. It definitely was nice enough to do outside stuff this week. Did you still sing Christmas Carols to the residents?
Terri, glad the new recipe was a hit. Maybe you should ask your Mexican DIL for some advice on what to put in to make that one spicier---bet she has some good ideas on that. Hope you had some energy yesterday after the coffee. I had energy but no place to really work on anything that didn't require a lot of bending---plus I was busy supervising yesterday----LOL
Well, I have new back steps and a nice deck to step out of the house on. We now have one more step to walk up but less distance which is what I needed. Even with my bad knee, I was able to walk up the steps like a normal person instead of one by one. Now, coming down I still need to be careful as all your weight comes down on that leg but I have a nice sturdy railing now to help me. It looks really nice---we will stain or paint it this Spring. It was good that I was home to say that we needed an additional step so not so steep for us---it worked out well in the end. It will take some getting used to when you step out your foot does not go down to the first step but walk out to a nice platform. It was so warm outside that we didn't need any jackets and the guys worked in t-shirts ---that is Michael and Howard. It took about 5 hours to build. I did help with the clean up afterwards--I have some ideas for the scrap pieces----LOL

I have coffee again! emoticon I might actually find some ambition today.

I am sure my sluggishness was caffeine-related because I began to develop a mild headache and ended up taking a nap in the recliner. It felt wonderful and helped with the headache, but still didn't have much energy. I worked on some knitting later in the day, but my big accomplishments were finishing the laundry from the day before and getting it all folded and put away, and emptying the dishwasher. I still have some large baking dishes to wash and put away and the cake stand that held Steve's cake. Those all need to go away today, along with a borrowed crock pot and other miscellaneous items that don't live in my kitchen.

Mom stripped her bed before she left, so I have clean sheets to put back on it now that the laundry is done. I managed to get most of my bins of fabric put away before everyone got here on Tuesday, but things could be organized better and I still have remnants and things to clean up upstairs. That should be my next project--before I get into anything else.

Betsy, I'm happy that you're feeling better and that the bathroom repair is happening. I hope the trim covers the exposed floor layers like you want it to.

I forgot to mention that the new pizza dish was a hit and requests were made that I add it to my menu. The spicy dish wasn't spicy at all--even for my palate--so I will have to find something hotter than hot links and jalepenos for that one. Apparently, the jalepeno peppers sweetened a little in the baking and didn't have the same zing as raw.

Glad to hear that J is getting some time with Tom to go fishing, Anne. Hope you get what you need at the bra store. I hate shopping for clothes and bras are the worst! I've gone almost exclusively to sports bras because I can't find more supportive ones that don't cut into my shoulders. Even the wide straps seem to pinch a nerve from the weight of "the girls". I've been told that I need to go to a specialist to be measured and fitted, but it's obviously not a high priority for me, so it hasn't happened yet.

Steve has gone out to the ranch to pick up some granite stones to build the steps at the bottom of the new stairs. He also took all my potted trees back out now that there are no leaves on the for the deer to eat. One of our next projects out there will be to build the deer fence around the area where I'll plant the trees and have my garden. We've decided to just plant the garden in the same area as the trees for now. It will be years before the trees are big enough to shade the garden too much. I know we still have months of winter weather yet, but getting the trees into the ground now will allow their roots to adjust and spread a bit before Spring. It will also keep the roots cooler than they would be in the pots, thus possibly delaying the bloom. Once the fence is up, I'll have them set up my new greenhouse so it will be ready to start some seeds in. Woo Hoo!

**Ha--I walked away from this post this morning and just came back to the computer and saw that I hadn't sent it yet. (Shaking my head...) emoticon

Hello! Last DD left. So-in-law in NC has the flu--they both had it last Jan when they were there. They fly home on Sunday. And yes, the game works with your own smartphone so it at least makes them USEFUL when you are with a group! We had a blast playing.

I just think the Roomba is dumb AND it won't get under the tables due to the chairs, I'll have to have everything OFF the floors. He got it cause I hate to vacuum. Well, I do--but I can just do it if it makes that big a difference to hubby. So--I will spend 3 hours a week dusting, bathrooms, kitchen, vacuuming and will return the darn thing--just have to tell him that. He cleaned up MY computer area so I don't have anything on that desk anymore--have to keep it in a basket. Yes, lots of the mess was his but my stuff was moved away. (I am not really happy with him at the moment.) It says in the paperwork that it can carry 2 cats but I am not allowed to get even one cat. So I am not interested in it.

Got to the gym 3 times in the last 3 days--good for me!

Betsy--glad you are getting daycare moved back downstairs!

Lindie--sounds like you enjoyed your outside time!

Terri--I will have the tree down by New Years. Plan to go see Bob today--didn't make it yesterday due to singing with my Alzheimer folks--DD2 went and we did 2 duets and then sang a bunch of hymns. They enjoyed that!

Anne--enjoy your grands! Sounds like you are having fun.

Cathy--I did get part of my room cleaned up last week before they came. I get rid of a little each time! I have stuff to go to the thrift store and to the used book sale. I just hate to throw out good stuff!

Back out to help with the leaves in the gutters. Hope everyone has a restful Saturday!

I am being summoned from another room but thought I would answer briefly. There's still a dull ache in my throat at times but it is doing much better. The low key schedule has helped immensely. The vanity will be fully installed on Monday. There's a spot on the side where you can see the two previous floors but we think we can run white baseboard along there and that will cover it, fingers crossed. At this point it looks like a new floor will not be needed, phew. the little cherubs, including a newly walking Mia, will return on Thursday, January 2.

I have been skimming and am happy to see everyone seems to be doing well.

Cathy, good job with the straightening and decluttering! Glad Michael was able to get there to measure and then get supplies. I hope it get done quickly! How many steps will there be?

Betsy, how are you feeling? When will the vanity go in? When do the little ones come back?

Terri, hope the coffee got you feeling less sluggish! Did you do anything special?

Dianne, how many of your daughters join you when you go skiing? How were Bob and his daughter?

Lindie, loved the pictures! How’s the weather today? Did you get any snow?

We are having a wonderful time with the families! J is going fishing with my son and his friend later this morning. I hope to get to the bra store. No other plans yet.

Have a good Saturday!

Anne

Terri, did you have another chill day or get into something? I didn't have to cook yesterday since we went to church for dinner but today I will take the leftover roast beef and make a pot of vegetable beef soup---more like a stew than a soup though. I did work on my bedroom yesterday---finally put the summer sandals away and got out the winter shoes----and while I was sorting shoes I cleared out that section of the closet so that I could put the table leaf back in there before I put the shoes back. Then I tackled that small closet---got rid of a lot of paper bags I had in there---why in the world did I think I would use them? LOL I also got the swiffer floor duster cloth going on the floor in there---lots of dust. I also got the 2 loads of laundry put away and hung up.
Michael took longer than he thought on his repair job for work but he did get over and measured and then he and Howard went to get the wood---he will start on those steps today.
Still warm weather here--even Joy texted me and said it was 60 up in Erie yesterday.
Guessing everyone is still busy with family and friends or recooping from all the excitement of the holidays.

Moving slowly today and feeling tired. I haven't had any coffee yet and have been drinking more lately, so that's probably why.

I'm not sure what I'll get into today, but it should be some sort of cleaning or organizing.

Lovely pictures, Lindie. Those were taken from the dog park?

Hurray for Betsy's vanity coming today. Does that mean it will be installed, or just that the order has arrived? Have you picked out your paint yet?

I meant to ask Dianne if those online games allowed you all to play with/against each other from your own devices? I've never played one like that, but I have friends who do.

Cathy, we did miss the ones who were absent this year. We always do. It would have been especially nice for our youngest gs (Chicago) to be here to meet and play with Katherin's little girls as they are close in age.

I still haven't had to cook anything new, but we're getting close. Maybe tomorrow.

Anne, sounds like you are having a nice visit and enjoyed the excitement with the kids. Is your weather nice there or are you being rained on a lot? We are warm here for this time of year and not rain until Sunday. Are you flying home next week?
Terri, I only did laundry and shopping yesterday----LOL----Dh wanted new ights for next year---his net lights are about ready to replace and so much cheaper to get them now---we ended up getting a lot more than just them---LOL I think the cost plays a big part in it but I understand with Rosie's hair it might clog up, too. I know there is one that empties itself---sure that one is even more expensive. And now there it one that will clean up wet spills. I wouldn't mine one that would wash my kitchen floor for me---LOL
Lindie, that looks like a nice place to walk a dog---beautiful views. I don't take mine down right away because now I have time to sit and enjoy them. No wonder she is depressed. I will probably start taking something down on New Year's Day--maybe the tree in the dining room---it has to come down so the bins for the village can come up so that is always the first thing. I will probably start putting away my Christmas clothes after Sunday---it was a short time to wear them this year. How expensive is it to go to a light show where they live?
Dom, Michael, and Ashlie came over last night so he could see the lights on outside and to find the new things in the village. He liked the train and he got his gifts from us. We got pizza for all of us so I didn't have to cook either.
Today we have dinner and meetings at my church so I don't have to cook then either. Michael will come by today to start on the back steps---figure all he might get done is figure out what he needs and they will go off and get that. I need to work on my bedroom today and put clean clothes away and get a corner straightened out again.

SNOW !!! They say the higher levels will get snow !! The coast has had 9 earth quakes this past week but no damage!

I spent yesterday with neighbours dog walking at MacDonald Park, which is in Richmond on the river, it was a nice day to go no rain, and the sand was fresh, course I brought lots home with me. The mountains have snow !!

That was taken at the park !

I have had a sore throat all week and yesterday was not bad but by night it was raspy and now I am achy and cold - yes I put a sweater on so I know my body is fighting something!

My neice has already taken down her tree and put her decos away - now she is depressed, this happens all the time with most events she gets super excited about - always up and down with her - I suspect her husband will buy her something new to bring her up - oh and they had deep fried turkey and she said it was good, have any of you had deep fried turkey ?

My youngest is in Winnipeg with her sister and my grandkiddies, I had given her some $$$ to to something fun for a family night - they went to a zoo to see the light display there - very nice for them.

My sister worked, so she spent time with the animals, she will come over tomorrow and we will watch Frozen together.

Glad everyone had a nice visit with family and friends and extended family, this week will go by fast, and this coming year is a leap year !!

Time to take an advil and chill different then chills haha !!

What is it about the Roomba that you think you won't like, Dianne? I'm just curious. I don't have one because I'm too cheap and because I don't think it would handle Rosie's shedding. But if it did and if I weren't so tight, I think it would really help. Sarah loves hers (Higgins) and she's a little OCD about cleaning, IMO. She still vacuums, but maybe only once a day instead of more.

We really vegged out yesterday! Steve was the only one who was remotely productive, but I don't feel guilty at all. I always have work to do and am usually busy with something, so when I am ready for a down day, I just take it. I did two loads of laundry and that was about it other than warming up leftovers for meals. The last of the brunch went to the dogs this morning and I may wrap up the last few pieces of his birthday cake and freeze it for his lunches later. I will have the last of the big dishes washed by the end of the day and put them away. Remember the too-short pajama pants I made for ggd#1? Well, the new ones fit perfectly (a tiny bit long, but she'll grow in about a minute) and I gave the first pair to her mama to go with the little sister's set. So gdd2 has two pants with her pjs, so they'll get worn.

Mom left this morning after coffee, as I expected, so the house is really quiet now. I burned some trash paper in the stove this morning to start my fire and Steve took the rest out to the burn pile for later. Things are getting a bit more normal. I'm already thinking of putting some of the decorations away (stockings and linens), but so far it's only thinking. No real rush, but I'll have them down close to New Year's Day. We've been invited out to the ranch to celebrate the New Year with Adam's family and friends. We may go for a bit, but likely won't stay late. There will be some explosions and Rosie isn't going to like them, so we may just stay home and act like old people.

Anne, I hope Circe is feeling better by now and able to enjoy your visit.

Cathy, don't get sick! Betsy, get well!

I'm sure Dianne's house is quiet again by now and I hope there's no feeling of let-down with the girls gone again. It seems that it was a very nice Christmas for all.

Lindie and Mare, many blessings to you and your families.

Time to find something to putter with...I'm not feeling terribly ambitious, though.

Sounds like everyone had a nice Christmas!

Griffin was very good about waiting for his sister to get up. When she got up she got her Dad, then the present opening chaos began! We had more chaos after dinner...when my son and other daughter and their families came over. It was a long, but fun with the family day (except while Circe was at urgent care). Everyone is just getting here again, so off I go!

Have a good Boxing Day!

Anne

Anne, did the kids have to wait until everyone woke up or did they get to open their gifts as they got up? Hope the little one gets relief from the ear ache---not fun any time of the year. Glad your flight was uneventful.
Terri, were you missing those due to the time of the celebration? Ashlie couldn't come on Christmas Eve Day as she had to work and Dom might have felt kind of left out as we don't have as much for him as Reagann had but we paid for Disney and Legoland. Plus Reagann has 2 sets of grands spoiling her then---LOL Sounds like you made way too much food with all that leftover. How did the pizza one turn out?
Dianne, so, are you going to keep the Roomba or return it? I just put a roast in the crockpot for our dinner yesterday---it was good and very tender. We had a nice breakfast and opened gifts.
Michael is going to build us new steps and a platform for the back steps---probably starting today---so that we have better hand rails to hold on to to get in the house. Matthew gave me a Chrome laptop--I need a remote mouse---I hate laptop mousepads. It was a nice thought but I am not fond of laptops so not sure if I will use it much. I tried yesterday and got frustrated trying to check my email on it---can't figure out how to scroll down. Do I need to use the arrow keys or what? Also got a kneeling/stool for gardening from Michael---that will be useful this Spring. Dh got me a small train for my village---but it's track is not that small so we are not sure how I will use it next year---but right now it's on the dining room table so I can play with it----LOL He also got me some new smaller pieces for my villages and most of them light up and are pretty cool. His big present is being made---a sign for above his shed---they were out of some letters that they need for the sign so waiting on them to come in.
I seem to have a cold developing so taking it kind of easy---plus with my knee I can't do too much. Lots of sneezing and nose blowing.
Hope everyone is having a relaxing day today. Saw that Lindie's cataract surgery went well.

Hello and sounds like people had a good day! We woke to stockings from Santa--and it was just a nice relaxing day. Church last night was great--we had 3 part harmony with DD2 and 3 and me--hubby was running the sound system or we would have had 4 parts. DD1 and SIL arrived in NC with no issues except DD1 is sicker--coughing a lot but she has no fever so feels it is viral. DD2 has been working on her desktop computer--had new parts and things are NOT working right so she is really trying to get that going and DH is helping. DD3 went home--arrived safely.

I visited Bob--of course things are not going well and he is dealing with a few health issues and the doctor at the home has NOT been in to see him. I will try to get there tomorrow--his daughter will be in and she has the gift he bought for me...no idea. I gave him 4 large print books and a CD of waltzes that I know he will enjoy.

Terri--looks like you had enough food. Our Big meal today was leftover pizza! LOL We had lots on Saturday and it tasted just great today! (Big meal was Monday.) Tell Steve the steps look great! We played some computer games--Drawful and Fibbage-- which use the computer, TV and smartphones. They were silly and great fun. They are part of the Jack Box Party Pack 1 and we had such fun!

Cathy--we don't have Star Wars scheduled yet but hubby and I will get there soon. Would have been fun to do all together but we avoided the crowds and stayed around home.

Anne--glad your flights were smooth--DD3 did fine both ways this time. And she made some of her arrangements for skiing with us in Feb.

Lindie--hope your day was pleasant!

Betsy--I know you have DS at home and the weather is mild for WI. Hope all went great for your family!

Mare--glad you checked in!

I am hoping to get to the gym at least 2 times in the next 3 days--we'll see! No returns (unless I get the Roomba returned but haven't broached that yet). Guess I need to just shut up and vacuum. anyway--hugs to you all!

Good morning and a blessed Christmas Day to everyone!

We still have Mom here, but the house is quiet and we're having leftovers for breakfast. I ate a long time ago, so I'm having a piece of Steve's carrot cake for second breakfast! We will play a game or two of cards once we get a few chores done.

Most of the cleanup was done last night by the girls (DILs 1&2 and Jennifer), a couple of casserole dishes of brunch went home with Mary and DS1, and that helped. We still have too much left for the 3 of us who are here. The cookies are nearly gone, so I know they were appreciated and enjoyed. There are still a few snickerdoodles left, so those will go into the cookie jar and off the counter (and out of sight!) I'm doing some laundry, emptied the dishwasher, swept the floors, and putting away the various plates and dishes that get emptied and washed.

We had a wonderful time with all those who were able to make it here (missing 2 sons, DIL3 and youngest gs) and Katherin's little girls had a ball with their little cousins. The oldest girl is pretty shy and stayed close to her parents, but the younger one doesn't know a stranger and was very social.

I didn't get many pictures, but asked others to take lots and share them. I just can't seem to pay attention to photo ops when I'm hosting, so for once, I'm glad everybody has a cellphone with a camera!

Merry Christmas!

Flight was on time and a very pleasant one! Mass was beautiful! Sang lots of the usual Christmas hymns...made me very happy! 10:00 Mass got out about 11:45! We did not get to bed til after 1:00! I was up at 6:00, Griffin got up about 7:30, Theresa heard us talking and came out a couple of minutes later. J came in around 9. Circe was up with night terrors and an earache afterwards, so she slept in until about 10:30. Judson came down when Circe got up. The kids were thrilled with most of what they got. The earache continued so Theresa and J took Circe to urgent care. Quiet here with Griffin playing his new video game, Judson is putting together a toy for them, and I just finished the dishes. Going to relax for a bit!

Wishing everyone the Peace of Our Newborn Savior!

Dianne, glad all 3 could get there for part of the time together and that you still have one at home to do things with after today.. It sounds like you had a lovely time together and can now rest up. Do you find it a big let down afterwards? I don't like being so busy but find it kind of depressing afterwards without anything planned----but at least this year I have a couple of things planned plus I haven't been as busy as in previous years.
Terri, wow, quite the spread. The steps are coming along nicely and look great. Sounds like you had a wonderful time like usual. Anyone coming over today?
Betsy, hope things go smoothly and that you are feeling a lot better. Taking it that no drama with the matriarch this year.
Anne, and who will clean up at the church and the house while you are gone? LOL I hope you have a wonderful time and that your flights are without any incidents.
We had a nice time with Reagann yesterday----that last gift I had almost forgot happened to be her favorite---it was a Porg that sits on your shoulder---magnet to put under your clothes to hold it there. I got it at Disney World. My church had a nice service and I came home and watched a few more episodes of the Crown on Netflix---not to sure about the new actors this season---so far it doesn't seem as good as the first 2 seasons were. Anyone else watched this series?
Matthew, Michael, and Ashlie are coming for breakfast this morning and nothing else planned for the rest of the day. My roast is in the crock pot for our dinner.
Hope everyone has a lovely, relaxing Christmas Day! What Joy a small child brought to the World! emoticon

Dianne, glad you and yours are having/had an enjoyable time! Yay! For a pageant we’ll done! If the Roomba works anything like the pool automatic vacuums, they can keep it! My daughter has one, so I’ll see how well or not it works.

Terri, stairs look awesome. They should be finished soon...or it looks like they will be. Lots accomplished in short time! Glad you had some helpers! Enjoy all that food & Happy Birthday to Steve!

Lindie, hope all is well in your world! Is it still rainy and/or cloudy?

Betsy, I hope you are feeling much better! How is your dh and his eye? Any plans?

Cathy, glad you enjoyed Star Wars! Did you reach the doctor and get an appointment?

I am on my phone...so trying to keep it somewhat short, lol! Lots of last minute cleaning and finishing up of vestments and church things yesterday. Lots of tying up loose ends at the gas station this morning. Packed and headed to the airport earlier than expected. Got here Much faster than either of us thought, so we went to the food court and killed an hour. Then back to the gate for a couple of hours. We should be boarding in about 30 minutes. The plane is here at the gate, so the only delay will most likely be how many planes are taking off at the same time as us.
I am breathing a sigh of relief cuz what is done is done!

Have a wonderful Christmas Eve!

Aw Dianne, I'm glad you all had such a sweet time together. I'm sure DD1 loved the blanket.

I'll keep this as short as I can. I was up at 5:00 and got the two large dishes into the oven and we just took them out and put the other 4 in. The wood stove will keep things warm without cooking them more, so I didn't have to send any next door to be cooked after all.

The kids are up and watching Green Eggs & Ham, Steve has emptied the ash box from the wood stove and is now mopping the kitchen floor. The pork that we'll be having for tacos this afternoon is in the crockpot and turkey roaster, and I have some ground beef to season and cook too. We'll set up a taco bar for dinner this afternoon.

Sarah is bringing a white board and dry erase markers and her Pictionary game for a group activity if there's a lull in the excitement later. I don't know if we'll get to that, but we might. In years past, the kids got a Wii dance game and used the living room for dance contests. That was fun to watch, but I don't think anyone has Wii anymore.

I have a couple of small things to wrap this morning, so need to get dressed and get that done before more people start to arrive. I mean people who didn't sleep here last night. Oh, and I made some bonus MIL points by keeping the ranch grands for the past 2 nights because Sarah was able to get ALL of her gift wrapping done yesterday--in the daylight instead of in the wee hours of the morning. She said she doesn't remember the last time she was able to do that--probably before kids came along. They celebrate with us and then again with her family, so it usually meant 2 nights of wrapping after the kids were in bed. So this was a year of early-firsts. I finished sewing early and she finished gift wrapping.

Off to get dressed. Happy Christmas Eve.
**Steve didn't get the steps finished, but here are what they look like from the porch, looking down:
From the porch down to the landing~

From the driveway up to the landing~

And here were my dishes all prepared last night:

Morning! Yes, DD1 and SIL are going to his parents in NC. DD3 goes back on Christmas Day due to all her vacation being used--and DD2 will hang till the weekend. I am thankful for what I get--and we have packed a lot of fun into this time. Didn't get many photos--I just don't think of it when we are busy doing things but that's okay. We did surprise DD1 with a crib blanket that has a photo of her finishing the marathon in FL and her with the 3 medals--she is about life size in that photo printed on the blanket--made her teary eyed cause the caption is "We KNEW you could do it".

I take them to the airport this AM.

Steve shares a birthday with my FIL, may he rest in peace. Hope you have a wonderful breakfast with family! Did Grandma get to go see the babies?

Cathy--we will get to the movie but likely next week at best. We just watched #3 again--guess we saw it once, thought Anakin's acting was awful and didn't watch it again. He is still awful but I saw many things I had forgotten! Last night, they watched #8 again. We will "chat" after I see it!

We have church at 10 PM tonight so need to be there for 9:30 rehearsal. It is an easy piece. Hope everyone is healthy and just BUSY!

Terri, that is quite a lot of concoctions. Hope the new one goes over well---they all sound good although not so much the extra spicy one---LOL---I would like all but the jalopenos in it. I hope those cookies disappear quickly although I am sure Steve would like to keep some around---LOL Tell him I said Happy Birthday and that he is another year better!
Dianne, I have to agree with you about the Roomba, but then I don't have wall to wall carpeting and too much stuff in the way for it to work really well here---but it would be funny to see if my cats would chase it or run away. But I do wish Dh would vacuum more. It sure seems like a short visit for all of the gals. Is DD1 headed to his parents house? That I can understand if they are splitting their time with family and it's nice that it works out for all of you. Guessing DD3 has to get back to work since she took all that time off for the New Orleans trip and the cruise.
I should have gone to the doctor a lot sooner with this knee but with the teacher out so much, I just didn't do it and overdid it big time---I had to get my Mom's cane out to help me get around when I first get up from anywhere---but once I get moving it seems pretty good. I think it all stems from when I tore my menincus about 7 or 8 years ago.
We went to see the new Star WArs movie----I have no idea why critics complained, but I think they do every time anyhow---it was really good and full of action and surprises. I won't ruin it for anyone else though. And I don't think I would want to see it in 3D--oh, my!---some scenes might make me very sick---LOL
We go to Andy's today at 12:30 for Christmas there. Then we will both go to our own services tonight. Tomorrow morning Dh will cook his bacon and Michael, Ashlie, and Matthew will be over for that. I don't think we will see Dom until another day this week.
Hope everyone has a great Holiday---no matter when you celebrate or how---just remember the reason for the season!

I've been cooking all day except for a quick trip to town for more sugar. I also stopped at the consignment shop and picked up a few of my things to give as gifts. Those will have to be wrapped tomorrow, as I didn't stop once I got home. I

I've got two large lasagna pans and five 9x13 cake pans full of breakfast dishes. It will be a challenge to get them baked in the morning and I may have to take some over to
DS1's for them to bake. We'll see. I'll start the large ones earlier because I know they'll take more time. We hope to have them ready by 10, so I'll get them started by 7:00.

Mom arrived soon after I returned from the store and kept me company. Katherin and her family had arrived at her parents' house, so Steve and all the kids went over to see her and meet their new little cousins. After a bit, DIL sent the boys home so they could enjoy some family time a little more quietly, but asked Clara to stay to play with Kat's girls. She was there for a few hours before they brought her home for dinner.

All is quiet now and my eyelids are heavy, so I'm going to bed. I'm not sure if I'll be able to stop by tomorrow or not. Just as Dianne's family is done celebrating, mine is about to begin. Good night all!

Hi, all! We have had a marvelous day. DD2 walked into town with me to get coffee--and she got a bagel. Then we put dinner together--a BIG ham, stuffing, Brussels sprouts, cranberry fluff, bread, pineapple carrot jello salad, squash, green salad and apple pie. We ate about 2--and it was just wonderful. We relaxed--did go get a part for DD2's computer--it FINALLY is working again!!

Did I tell you hubby got me a Roomba for Christmas? Cause he knows I hate to vacuum? I also hate to use something that stupid...(no offense if YOU like it--I don't). I could not talk him out of it but I will return it. If he wants the floors done that much, I will put it on the calendar and just do it. The house does look nice all clean....I just hate doing it over and over and over and over and.... Otherwise, gifts were quite reasonable--we gave $$ for things we knew they wanted or needed and they had put thought into gifts for us so they were "right".

Tomorrow I will take DD1 and SIL to the airport--a bit early cause it may be really crowded and the roads may be bad. Then he'll take DD2 on Christmas Day. I like being "done" with stuff now--no feeling of rush or stress!

Terri--hope Steve's cake is wonderful. I'd love to come try your various breakfasts! Sound lovely!

Cathy--I am sorry your knee is bothering you. I have a friend who is still dealing with chills and muscle weakness and doesn't know what is wrong. You at least understand your issue.

Betsy and Lindie--have a quiet evening. Anne--don't go too nuts getting ready to go!

Adam and Sarah stopped by yesterday so that Adam could help Steve set a log in place for the basement wall he's building. The kids wanted to stay with me and, since I'm done sewing, I was able to say YES! They watched some movies with Steve while I baked some chocolate chip cookies, then I made a pot of Ramen noodles with some egg and pieces of rotisserie chicken in it for their dinner. Then Ben and I decided that we needed to make more cookies, so I mixed up a double batch of gingersnap dough and a triple batch of snickerdoodle dough. Both are in the fridge, ready to be turned into cookies this morning. I'll scoop out the dough and let the kids make the balls and roll them in the sugar. An assembly line will be fun and make everything go faster. Then I can clean up the mess and start working on the next thing.

I'll bake Steve's carrot cake today because it's always better the second day, and then start cooking the meat for my breakfast casseroles. This year, we decided to add a "pizza" combo to the variety by using Italian sausage, pepperoni, peppers, onions and mozzarella cheese. I have some Italian sauce (like marinara) that I canned this summer, and parmesan cheese if wanted. I'll also have polish sausage and cheddar, country sausage, bacon and cheddar, and Louisiana Hot Links, jalepenos, and pepper-jack cheese to try to make it spicy enough for those who always say, "You call this spicy?" I'll have sour cream and salsa on the side, along with tobasco sauce and ketchup for those who have to have it. It helps to have all the meat pre-cooked when I get ready to put the dishes together. I use tater tots and then pour scrambled eggs over the whole thing and let them sit over night to soak into the potatoes. It takes a couple of hours to bake them in the morning and I'll have to use both ovens.

I never did get to the boxer briefs, so that will be an after-Christmas project. I still need to get the upstairs in order. Mom is coming today sometime.

Cathy, I hope you get some relief for your knee. This is a constant thing with you, isn't it? Is it an injury or just part of getting older? I've had plenty of injuries and am now so cautious when walking on uneven ground or stairs. It takes too long to heal anymore!

Betsy, I hope you're feeling better quickly and are able to rest some.

Anne, safe travels.

Lindie and Mare and anyone else reading--I hope you're having a lovely week, whatever you're doing.

Anne, aren't season tickets a bit pricey? Did you get the tape? Seems we are all needing that this year. Mine actually lasted until I was almost finished, but in the middle of wrapping one present so I was glad to have the extra I bought. Hope you have lots of people attend that Mass since you did so much work to set up for it. Is it Tuesday night or on Sunday? My church is having a service at 6 but dh's starts at 7---and of course he has to be there at least an hour early---so we won't be going to each others' service. Not sure what time we are celebrating on Tuesday with Reagann---think about lunch time so that her parents can head home while it is still light outside as they have over an hour drive. You are flying out on Christmas day, right?
Terri, glad you checked although you could say you made her capris----LOL---actually, I like capri sleep pants in the summer. I put on my nice warm flannel pants yesterday after my shower---they were so comfy that when I got home from church I put them back on and kept my legs nice and toasty all day since I didn't go anywhere else yesterday.
Dianne, glad the pageant went well and that your singing was a hit. Did Dh sing with all you gals? Are you all going to go see the new Star Wars movie with the girls? I would love to go to more light shows---there is one up near the Ferry. I would also like to go up to Longwood Gardens show some day. We went to one down in Hampton Roads when we stayed at Williamsburg one Thanksgiving---it was lovely!
I thought I had everything wrapped--and found one more when I went to bed---LOL---oh, well, I can wrap one more today. I did the wrapping in stages as my knee is giving me royal fits. I am going to call the doctor's office today to see if they are working at all this week. I want to go see Star Wars today but the knee needs to take priority if I can get in today. Also need to clean my bathroom and do the floors in there and in the kitchen.
Hope everyone is ready for the next few days! Merry Christmas! emoticon

The pageant was well received--the kids didn't speak loudly enough and one change of costume took way too long (so I got a different costume before the 2nd service) but the parents were thrilled. Our song went very well--DD1 wasn't feeling 100% but she sang beautifully--we had a great blend!

We went for a run (I did 1.5 miles) and then took SIL to get his beer flight for his gift--he found 4 nice beers to try. DH and DD2 worked on her computer--she has been trying to upgrade for nearly a year and they FINALLY got it! Needed a new power supply. We played a computer game again, talked to my parents and 2 siblings that were there--and just had a nice day.

Terri--give Steve a big birthday hug from me. Hope you enjoy the time with your mom. Good to get the longer PJ pants done.

Cathy--we have a big light show near here but we did not go. Sounds like you had fun.

Anne--I am sure you did lots more than you needed to do but that is your way! I did get up early to get bagels for everyone--but I didn't eat any! We had a big pot of chili to eat today.

Lindie--I hope it isn't raining on you anymore.

Betsy--glad you are resting even if you are also cleaning! Feel better!

Tomorrow we are making Christmas dinner--plan to eat around 3.

Yay Dianne! I'm happy for you and your family to have such a sweet time together. I know you'll enjoy it all you can. SIL sleeping on the couch sounds like mine. That man can fall asleep (or pretend to) in the middle of such chaos--but then, he's the one with 6 kids.

I was worried about eldest ggd's pajama pants being too short and DIL1 confirmed it, so I made another pair yesterday that are about 4 inches longer. These will likely be too long, but she's going to grow quickly, so they will last through the winter. I didn't get to the box briefs yet and might not, since I need to get bins of fabric sorted and organized and put away today. Mom will be coming tomorrow and she sleeps upstairs, so I need the mess cleaned up. So much to do~

Betsy, I'm praying that you'll feel better quickly so you can get things ready and feel good for your family time. How is DH feeling? Will you have all three of your kids home for Christmas this year? We'll be missing some.

Cathy, I would love to have a couple of bites of fudge, but it's good that I don't have any. Do you put nuts in yours? I might have to try my hand at candy-making some day. I sure haven't succeeded on the pie crust from scratch! I do okay with the Krusteaz mix, but it galls me that I can't do it from scratch as well.

It's a dreary, rainy day so a good one for staying inside and doing some cleaning up. Time to get at it.

Good morning!
Cathy, glad Ashlie wanted to learn and that she helped make the fudge! Yay to new wallboard! That was nice that Ashlie, Michael and Dom went to the light show too! How expensive is the show?
Dianne, glad your girls and SIL made it safe and sound! Bummer about the luggage! Get it flew in on a different jet! Good idea to write things down for Bob. Hopefully he will not misplace it! Have fun singing with your girls!
Lindie, why is it when people ask someone for money they expect yes as an answer?!?!? Glad Gene was able to not give in! Smart to go to listening with no comments mode! How wonderful that Amigo remembered his previous family! I am sure they were happy about that as well as seeing how happy and well cared for he is!
Terri, hope you got that tape and was able to finish your wrapping! Do you and Steve have Christmas day plans?
Betsy, glad you are on the mend! Hope you are able to finish up what needs to be done for your Christmas! Is DH being a good patient?
Yesterday I helped Rich out together the altar for the overflow 4:00 Christmas Eve Mass. We also got the amplifier, speakers, and altar microphone taken set up. I think he set up the chairs later while I was at the gas station. I picked up and wrapped the gifts for Fr. I and Fr. J. I got the season ticket for Fr. B, but want to get him a Yankee Candle to put with it. While at the gas station I got all but one Christmas card signed. The printer did the labels. I just need the address for one niece. We went to Mass, got pizza, watched the Pats together for a while. I left before the 4th quarter and went to bed.
Today I have to check to see if I have another roll of tape or go get one and wrap the "goofy gifts" we got the grandkids. I still have to get money cards and the bosses at the gas station something. I am sure I have forgotten something.

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Anne

Dianne, sounds like a good time at your house. Hope the pageant goes well today and everyone loves all of you singing together.. Just wondering it they were watching Togo on Disney? I watched that the other day with the kids---they weren't very interested in it but I enjoyed it---based on a true story. How long will you have them all?
I had a semi busy day and was pretty exhausted when I got back home last night. First thing was go to get the tape and then the ingredients I needed to make fudge. Ashlie was coming over to learn---Michael said she could only go if she was learning to make his favorite fudge----LOL---but he came with her and put up the new wallboards I had bought for my laundry area. It was nice to have someone help and who did all the stirring for the fudge--I measured everything out, explaining things, then poured the ingredients in after the sugar and butter melted to the right temp. Usually that is Dh's job when I am making it. We made 2 batches of fudge. Michael got the wallboards up during that time---they really are easy to put up and I love how they look. I will try to post a picture one day of them. It was about 1:30 when they left---I had my lunch and started wrapping some of the presents. Then my sister called and I chatted with her until it was time to put on my cuddle duds and go meet Michael, Ashlie, and Dom to go see the light show in Ocean City. Boy, what a long line that was but the lights are lovely. I think it was the long walk to the end of the line and then the slow wait in the line that wiped me out. We stopped and got something to eat on the way home. I came in, changed my clothes to pjs, and fell asleep on the couch shortly after 8.
Church today and more wrapping. Hope with no one posting that everyone is busy with holiday things and family. Hoping Betsy is feeling better, too!

I have all my girls at home! The last 2 arrived after about a 3 hour drive. Then we played a couple of games that are on the computer/TV/phone--a drawing game and a Fliggert game--it was really fun! We laughed so hard--it was great fun! Today we went out for lunch at THE pizza place--had a great time. Tonight we have our Christmas so I have made the veggies and we'll start the mozzarella sticks, etc in a while.

Cathy--sounds like your kids had a good day yesterday. I hope you get some more tape! My kids have been wrapping stuff and putting it under the tree. SIL is sleeping on the couch, DD1 is sewing on a button (I found the needle/thread for her), DD2 doing a crossword puzzle and DD3 and DH watching a sled dog show on Disney. I hope your household is also relaxing.

Betsy--just feel better! So sorry it turned into strep. My friend still feels awful but doesn't know why--even after doctor and bloodwork.

Terri--sounds like things are going well. I love carrot cake--can't make it at home cause I'd eat it all.

Lindie--good for you and for Gene. Helpful without enabling. Too bad that he isn't working if he is capable of working--he needs to take responsibility for himself and you are doing right to not enable him. Yes--living in a city is $$ but squatting won't work long term and partying all the $$ is not a good idea.

Anne--I hope you are almost ready to go. It is stressful, I know. But treasure the thought of being with your kids. You need to get closer since they are all there....

Tomorrow is the pageant--I hope God will help us with it! LOL And my 3 girls and I sing the anthem--that will be fun. We don't have other plans--just spending time together, going to get a flight of beer, etc.

Dianne, hope all arrived safely yesterday---yuck to such a long wait for their luggage---was that due to the lateness of the arrival or how busy they were at the airport? Hope the mulch arrived and was spread out nicely for you.
Lindie, best to not say too much. You are right that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree with your sister and her son. Glad she is taking it seriously about his threat of suicide---nowadays it is too easy to do it. Isn't there any family shelters in your area that they could go to? Even in our much smaller city we have one. Good for Gene in saying No and not enabling them any further with just giving them money but paying for what they need.
Terri, always something like that we forget---Dh didn't go anywhere yesterday to get tape so I have to get some today---I want to start wrapping and know I won't get far without more on hand.
The kids went home with very full bags and some with more than one. They bought presents for family members that we wrapped for them and for each other from the holiday shop at school. Then they had all the gifts from us. Dalton was so hyper and wanted to open his skittles right away---which I nixed right away as he was already bouncing off the walls. Mom and Dad can deal with him eating them at home---LOL The teacher left half day so I just let them get on their tablets and they watched some movies on TV while I took off the decorations they made that were on the tree and got them ready for them to take home. I made copies of the work for when they come back and organized that. Took down a few of the decorations but the tree will have to wait until we come back. Emptied the fridge in the room of the milks and juices---sent that home with my co=worker for his gf's kids---and made sure all computers were turned off for the long break. Also deeply watered the 2 plants---they will need watering when we get back but hopefully will be okay---one is a cactus so it should be fine but not sure about the Christmas Cactus as it is small. I was very glad to get home and relax for the rest of the evening.
Plans are for making fudge and starting the wrapping of presents.

Cathy, when I was at the store where there would be tape, I didn't look at my list--twice. The hardware store would've had it and so did Joann's, but I didn't even think of it while I was there. Steve has gone to town (locally) to pick up the mail, buy some tape and some carrots for his birthday cake.

I've been doing laundry and a bit of cleaning up in the kitchen, but haven't gotten much else done yet today. I need to get it in gear!

Good afternoon everyone, still raining here, its called an Atmospheric river which will continue into the weekend, and maybe sun by Monday - lots of flooding in some places, snow and avalange issues in the mountains, road closures, not in Vancouver area, but in the valley east of me.

Dianne, good of you to help Bob and his family, at least his daughter appreciates, doubt the son does by your comments, and it all depends on their upbringing as well, what kind of father he was - anyway, enjoy your time with your family !!

Cathy, woo hoo just the day to go and then you are home free for a while ! Have fun while you are off !!

Terri, that was quite an adventure but you have been home in your sewing room for a long period so no doubt all that was needed. Glad you liked the fish and chips ! That is my fav to have when out some pubs do a beer batter with theirs. Enjoy your time with your family and be sure to have some quiet time for your self as well. Yes I will be having quiet as Gene still has to work so it will be just me and the cat. and I usually have spiritual music playing when not playing Andre R.

Betsy, I hope you are feeling some what better, not having strep before not sure what it intails, but I sure hope you feel better soon and perhaps you can let yourself be babied by your adult kids who can come and help. emoticon emoticon

Anne, I hope your flight goes smoothly and that you have a great time with your family, it should not be a long flight, but no doubt long enough. Were you able to get everything sent ?

Last night went very well. Amigo remembered his former family and was relaxed and playful and Genesis was able to pet him, give him a kiss and even some treats! I was really happy about that because its important for her to know he is being well cared for, and she can see that by all the treats, toys and how he plays and such.

Now for the family drama: Earlier this week my nephew contacted Gene to ask him for help to store some items as they are being evicted from their premisis. We have no room but Gene did rent a storage locker for 140.00 which required a credit card, one my nephew does not have as he maxed his and no doubt the bank is not happy with him. He and his girlfriend got a notice to move by Feb/20 - a reno evict as the house is being torn down - it is delapatated, and no one should be living in it, however, he and his girl friend rented it but gave notice to move. They were suppose to move in with her Brother, but her Brother, went off to Mexico on vacation and did not let them move in. So they have now become squatters as they did not pay rent and have no money to pay rent. MIchael was upset because Gene would not give him money and paid for everything upfront - well, hello, no way. They have two cats and my daughter took them, but turns out one is trying to breed with the other one as they have not been fixed, but my daughter will get them fixed when she comes back from vacation. She has someone staying at her place and the friend saw a mouse, so hense, the cats. Sigh - then last night my sister texted Gene asking if he could help with rent and deposit for the couple who are now squatters, and he said no , he has his own things to pay for and mom to take care of ( well not really that he needs to take care of me )

This morning when my sister picked me up to go shopping she mentioned a few other things and when I made a comment back, she got upset so I decided not to comment or get involved and simply replied, well I hope they find somewhere to stay. During the course of shopping I found out that they have not paid rent since october ! and that Michael was laid off for missing work - missing work to party all night with friends, I simply said, its a learning process, and he needs to learn bad association spoils useful habits as he never missed work when living with his mom. She said she is trying to use tough love with him, and told him he screwed up this time, and he replied he knew and that he did not need reminding every 5 minutes. SO I suggested, that she not harp on the screw up but start commending him for what he has done right like arranging to put things in storage so he does not loose them ( including his tools, toolbox for work ) She also said that he was talking about killing himself, and she said I have no idea who he gets that from ( first mental illness and suicide does run in our family ) and I reminded her that he most likely learnt it from her because her favourite line when things go wrong is "I might as well jump off a bridge" which she said she nevr means just wild talk. SIGH - She said text your daughter - I said my daughter would agree with me ! Anyway, we went shopping, she tried to buy me some boots that were 129.00 that will fit better then the other ones, but I would not let her. She helped bring my stuff up and she had stuffed 40.00 in one of the bags, so I will take that and get some gift cards and gift it back later.

A bit long winded but it could be worse, tomorrow they have to be out and its up to them where they go and what they do, but they are NOT staying here. MY sister has gone to help move more stuff into the storage locker and I gave her some left over pastery from last night for the homeless couple.

It's ribs tonight for dinner, I need to go get them in the oven, I promised my sister some!

Morning--I think! DD1 and SIL landed at 12:10 AM and were at baggage claim by 12:45--bags didn't show up from their flight till 2:07 AM so it was after 3 when they got home. I went to bed at 2--didn't fall asleep but tried. The landscapers are coming this AM to put down mulch so I have to be up and coherent. DD3 lands at 3:52 this afternoon by DD2's place so they will be on the road by 4:30 we hope. Driving over the Tappan Zee (or now the Mario Cuomo Bridge) will be SLOW tonight. But they will all be home by bedtime and I will sleep well!

Terri--you certainly had the day well planned. Hope you can recover today. Hard to pick who will miss the party, isn't it? My sister and brother are trying to be there yet for my folks.

Cathy--I hope your kids enjoy their day. I found out Wed that our local school has a 1/2 day on Monday! The kids are not happy--I expect no one is very happy with that!

Lindie--hoping Amigo remembered and cooperated with the little girl!

Anne--I don't envy you flying this coming week--I guess the airport was nuts.

Betsy--sick? I am so sorry. Rest up and figure out which lovely cherub gave it to you! REST is the most important part of that sentence!

I know Bob is attached and his daughter does appreciate what I do--not his son so much but he doesn't appreciate anything. I don't think I will get my girls there to meet him but we'll see. I did write down when I'd come next so he can refer to it. That does help, I guess.

Better so see if the mulch arrived. Good luck with all you are doing today!

Betsy, no wonder you are sick---all that you do and it seems no rest for you and the worry---your body is telling you to rest up. Hope you are feeling better!
Anne, I was up early yesterday because I fell asleep at 8 and my hips said 8 hours on them was enough so that's why the 4 AM posting for me. Sorry you are having trouble sleeping. I am thinking it is too dry in my house with the heat on so you might be experiencing the same thing at your house. I need to cook some pasta or just boil some water to add some moisture to the air.
Dianne, hope you have a wonderful time with the girls but can pop on to tell us some of the fun things going on. Does Bob understand that you won't be in to visit him with your girls home or will you take the girls in to meet him? He might enjoy that.
Terri, wow, quite the trip! Did you forget the tape or not find it where you were? I just told Howard last night that he needs to pick some up today, too. Will you fix Steve a special dinner for just the 2 of you Christmas Eve? I agree that family schedules do play havoc on Family traditions as I have found out with my boys. HOpe you didn't forget anything else while out. We have an Irish pub near us and we really should go more often as they have good food there, too.
Lindie, hope you enjoyed the visit and that Amigo remembered them and didn't go into hiding when they got there. Raucous does not like visitors but Jade does---Raucous is Mommy's boy and seems to reserve his love just for me---LOL
Just one more day---the kids will open a pile of gifts today, the teacher will leave early, and I will have them all afternoon---they will be on the tablets for sure----LOL---or maybe they will do something with their gifts. She did get them kits to make their own Forkie so I do plan on doing that with them at some point today.
Still cold here but slowly warming up as Christmas gets nearer--and staying dry---so no White Christmas---thankfully!

Terri, you had a busy day yesterday! Glad you got to visit with Aunt D! Yay to a less expensive Christmas family meal! Good luck with getting the boxers made!

Dianne, Bob is really attached to you. Hope his daughter does not get jealous! Glad she was able to calm him down. When do the girls start arriving? Yes, it is nasty food outside! Try and stay warm!

Lindie, does your sister pop by like that much? Why is she off sick? Is she sick? Too funny getting dried off to go get wet in the rain! Hope Amigo remembers the little one.

Betsy, hope you are on antibiotics and get better fast! Crumby time to get sick!

Cathy, yay to vacation in a few hours! Hope it is a good day!

Sleepless night again from 3 on. Going to get ready for another busy day! At least I feel rested compared to yesterday! We do not leave until Midday on Christmas Eve. It will be here too soon!

Have a good day!

Anne

Betsy, I'm so sorry you're sick! So not fair! I was also happy to read that dh did NOT go in to work. I would have been fuming too, in the same situation. So did his principal ask YOU? I couldn't really follow that sentence to be sure. If so, I'm glad for that communication. I know dh is a great teacher, committed to his job and his students, and has a great work ethic; HOWEVER, he is not Superman and has to stop acting as though he's invincible!

Dianne--enjoy those girls (and SIL too) and have a wonderful holiday with your whole family together! That doesn't happen as often or as easily these days.

Cathy, I hope you were able to stay warm today and that tomorrow goes by quickly. I'm sure there won't be a lot of studying happening, if any at all. Have fun with the kids and then don't let the door hit you in the butt on your way out for vacation! WooHoo!

I've forgotten when Anne leaves. I'll have to scroll back to find out and don't want to get lost while trying to post this, so will just wish you safe travels and a wonderful time with the kids and grands.

Lindie, I know you won't celebrate the day in the same way most of us will because you celebrate the Savior's coming every day (as do I) of the year. But enjoy the weekend, the lights and the feeling of goodwill that will hopefully be evident. Have some cocoa and play some praise music in your quiet time.

Mare--I wish you would check in and let us know how you're doing. I know that not everyone can pop in here all the time, but we like to keep tabs on each other on this team. I hope your Christmas season is peaceful and joyful--and drama-free.

We went to the coast today for our grocery run. I had a good list of everything I need to stock up on and the supplies I'll need for our family meal on the 24th. I had our stops mapped out so that we made them along our route and didn't have to backtrack at all. We got an early start this morning and had a full day planned. On the way to town I called Aunt D to see if she's like to go to a late lunch with us after we got most of our errands done and she was delighted.

First, we hit the bakery thrift store for a few loaves of bread, then stopped at a little cafe for breakfast on our way into town. We hadn't eaten at home and you never want to go grocery shopping on an empty stomach, right?

Next was the recycling center where we dropped off all our accumulated plastic, glass and metal. Steve had a full tub and a half of beer bottles and since the line to cash them in was so long, he gave them to a homeless man at the end of the line. He was grateful for the "free" money and was happy to take them for us. Steve often does that if there is an obviously homeless person cashing in recyclables when we take ours in. He figures that if they've done the work to collect a batch of their own, he's happy to supplement their score.

Then we went to Costco (right next to the recycling center) to use the gift card he got from the boss at the Christmas party last week. We let our membership at Costco go this year because we don't shop there often enough to justify paying the fee; however, you don't need a membership to use a gift card, so we bought dog and cat food, and some nuts for baking. He still has $100 on the card for later. I finally remembered to take in the old VHS tapes of our younger two girls' dance recitals. They went from 1999-2004 and I've been wanting to have them put onto DVDs but it's pretty expensive. But, no one has a vhs player anymore and I really wanted to be able to get rid of those tapes--so need to get them transferred to disks. I hope they aren't copyrighted because I was told that the company won't do it if they are and then I don't know what we'll do. Just give the girls the tapes, I guess. They won't be back in time for Christmas, but their birthday's are in May, so I'll just save them until then if the copying gets done.

Farther down the highway (at the south end of town) was our next stop at the hardware store, where Steve needed to pick up a bracket to repair the hand rail on our inside stairs. Then it was time to turn around and head back into town, toward Aunt D's apartment. By then, it was almost 2:00 and I was afraid that she'd be getting hungry, so I called her to give her an ETA and she said she was fine and had just made herself a piece of toast.

The next stop was Joann's, where I needed to buy some black buttons. I needed some when I was making the flannel shirts and really had to scrounge to find enough, so I wanted to restock my stash while I was in town. I also bought some T-shirt knit fabric to make some boxer briefs for the grandsons this weekend. I bought a pattern online last month and now that I have some extra time before Christmas, I'm going to make some underwear. I've done it before, but only the old-fashioned briefs. All the boys wear boxer briefs these days, so I'm going to use my new pattern and hopefully they'll turn out nice enough to give as gifts.

After Joann's, we stopped at our credit union on the way to pick up Aunt D and learned that they had moved our branch! The office I went to is now their corporate office and they don't take deposits! Oops. So, I wasn't able to deposit the Christmas check Dad sent me, but Steve can do that tomorrow when he goes to pick up my scotch tape!

We called Aunt D and she met us on the curb of her apartment and then we went to a little Irish Pub in Old Town. She had Fish & Chips, I had a Rueben sandwich and Steve had Bangers & Mash--and we all traded samples so that we could each try some of everything. It was all scrumptious, but I think the fish & chips was the best--even though my reuben was wonderful. After dinner, we took Aunt D home by way of the post office, so I could drop my mail in the box and then hit our last stop--the grocery store.

Actually, Cash & Carry is a restaurant supply store that sells in bulk. Like Costco in some ways, but without the same variety. I bought everything we'll need for my Christmas brunch dishes, which will actually be served on Christmas eve (Steve's birthday) this year. We changed our family celebration to the morning of the 24th to accommodate Jenny's job at the church, where she's in charge of the children's ministries for the Christmas Eve service. She'll have to leave here at 3:30 in the afternoon, so we decided to move everything to the morning. It won't be the same and now Mary Beth is going to come late because she has to work that day and doesn't get off until 4:30. But...I guess it's inevitable, right? Kids grow up and get jobs, or build families and maybe move away and you do the best you can to get everyone together whenever possible, but it gets harder. One thing about changing everything to a brunch is that it saved us the money on food because we didn't end up buying the Prime Rib that we'd planned. Now it will be an egg and potato dish--much cheaper!

So now we're home and all the groceries are put away where they need to be. I'm having my 2nd glass of wine and will soon jump into the shower and get into my nightgown and relax.

Good night my friends. See you tomorrow unless I skip the computer and go straight back to the sewing room.

"Oh the weather outside is frightful" or at least COLD for NJ. We may have gotten to 24 degrees--and I ended up walking a mile this afternoon to get my van from the van doctor so I know it was cold--and windy so there was wind chill! But my housework is about done--one more bathroom to do and a table to clear off. DD1 and SIL arrive tonight and the other 2 arrive tomorrow -- after 7 PM most likely. DD1's plane lands at 12:38 AM Friday AM our time. It will be a late night.

Lindie--I hope you have a great evening with family. And that Amigo is happy to see former owners.

Anne--sounds like you got a lot done. Hope you manage a little down time! It is cold here, just like for you.

Cathy--glad you have taught that young man some manners--he certainly CAN learn. My DH is getting some Star Wars apparel as well.

Terri--hope you got the shopping done--I would have trouble getting my list complete enough to be that far away from a store! But I am sure you are experienced at doing that! Wow--long day for Steve but hopefully the $$ makes it worth it.

Betsy--I do hope things are going better for your household! I am guessing you can move back into the downstairs by Jan. 1? My dad went ice fishing with my brother and 2-3 other guys--Dad and brother caught 40 fish so my folks have 3-4 meals of fish--they were only out about 3 hours so they were biting!

I visited Bob today--he had been very worried about me cause he thought I had called yesterday and told him I was coming over--it was likely a hallucination. So he bothered his daughter and she texted me and then calmed him down. We had a good visit today. And I got my blood work back--I have my cholesterol under control! May have a UTI but all the rest looks good! Had a second urinalysis done to see. And we went out for breakfast--that was really nice.

I may not be getting on here too much while the girls are here.I hope you have a blessed run-up to Christmas Day and a wonderful day!

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon another day of grey skies and some wind, I have to go out to get hot chocolate for my guests who are coming over tonight - I am looking forward to the evening. Amigo's former owners are coming to see us ! and him too ! Genisis has been asking about him. (Genisis is 6 and her name is Mexican.)

Anne, I must be your twin some what today, I was up at that time too but west coast time LOL I got up to go potty and could not get back to sleep as I was rolling things over in my mind about the family issues - not mine - and finally got up and made coffee. As I was trying to listen to a news cast about LifeLab being breached for personal data, I heard my name, it was my sister, here at 6:30 in the morning ! She is off sick until Sunday - She wanted to see if I wanted to go out and I said no, I wanted to get things ready for tonight. So she left, I ate breakfast and had a shower, now I am all nice and dry to go out in the rain lol !!

Terri, safe travels to the coast to get staples that you need. Hope you have a fabulous day.

Cathy, all children need to be taught - good way to teach, by letting them earn something they like. Too bad about the kios being gone, but better for your wallet, eh ? lol Two more days !!! And your off for what, 10 days or so ?

Betsy, hope all things are good in your neck of the woods, how is your DD2 doing with her new digs? How is DH doing? Its a shame all these copy cat events that happen, no one gains anything from it at all. How are the daycare children doing ?

Dianne, are you chasing dust bunnies ? I was doing that yesterday - but I did get a bit of help from Gene. He was most likely glad to go to work so he would not hear me say, "you need to dothis, you need to do that " LOL

Cathy I am limiting myself in the chair for the craft table as it is uncomfortable - maybe I need better cushions LOL

Ok off of here, times up, might be back later, might not !

Good morning!
I have been awake since 3:30. Finally got up and made some coffee at 4:30. I have a headache...think it is sinus related because they feel heavy. Hopefully it will go away once I can be noisy blowing my nose, lol! J has another 30 minutes before the alarm goes off. It is 12* out right now and the heat has been running constantly since I woke and probably all night! I am glad that Rich and I managed to get the outside Nativity finished yesterday! The stable for inside the church Nativity still needs to be brought over...but it does not fit in my Explorer. Hopefully Army and his pickup are around today to help with that! The rectory Christmas tree is done. I just need to get the Fathers presents wrapped and put under the tree. Still need to figure out something small for Fr. L. I think I may get Fr. B a season ticket for one of the lottery games since he does not have space for, nor need any, things!
Cathy, sorry the kiosk was gone! Glad the Jeremiah figured out how to use his manners! Yay to only 2 more days left til break!
Guess it took me a lot longer to post...Had to keep fixing auto-words and auto-correct on my Kindle! Hope I caught all the goofies! J's alarm just went off!
Have a good day!

Anne

Betsy, One of my eye drops burned so I know what your dh means---it is not pleasant and lucky for me the doctor said I could stop those but I didn't have any eye swelling. Boy, I bet your Dh would have been clobbered by you if he had gone into work---LOL---and he probably shouldn't be driving right now esp. if it snows as the glare would really hurt his eyes. Hope he dictated to you what he wants on those letters. Which ones of your kids are showing some signs of autism? Hope the parents are proactive and get them therapy early to help with it.---but also that they don't enable them to act up because of these issues---they can learn proper manners if you spend the time to do it---case in point, Jeremiah ate like a normal person and with proper manners yesterday while we were out---it only took a few times for that to sink in with him---also taking away his computer time because of it really made it stick in his mind----LOL
Dianne, did you get it all clean? Hope you are all prepped after today so you can enjoy the time with each girl as they arrive. When does DD2 arrive? Hope that massage helped the hip. I have thought it would be nice to try that to see if it helped me.
Terri, glad you enjoyed the grands. What did the girls craft? Nice that the one got some one-on-one time with the other grandmother. My mom preferred to take one at a time for some special time with her and the boys liked that---they knew they would get to go out to eat and maybe go shopping when it was their special time with her.
Lindie, do you set a timer when you are sitting for any time length? I did that this past weekend and need to do that more---esp. over my break so I don't sit too long---it gets harder to move if I do sit too long.
Anne, glad you made it home safely the other day. Guessing J was getting hungry and trying to decide if he could eat a snack without ruining his dinner.
I didn't find those things---they must have sold out as the kiosk was no longer there in the mall---good for them and it wasn't really anything I needed to buy anyhow. Everyone is getting at least one thing to wear with Star Wars on it---LOL---so I am set.
Just 2 more days to work---yippee!

Hi all!
I did make it home in one piece and neither the car nor I slipped in the driveway. There is still ice and some snow here and the winds have picked up as the temps dropped. Seems way too soon for this type of weather...feels like mid-to late January. Hmmmm! Wonder if that means we will have an early spring? Hope so and not a long winter!

Betsy, glad your dh stayed home! I would have been furious, too, if he had gone in!

Lindie, hope you got all your cleaning done and all the fires put out! Yay to Gene helping with the cleaning!

Cathy, how was the field trip? Did apply some good teaching moments?

Terri, was Steve happy about getting called in...maybe the distraction from the stairs is good?

Dianne, glad the massage helped the hips! Hope they stop acting up on you! Have you had them checked to see why they are bothersome?

I need to get back to work...J's already called for an ETA! Grrrrrr! I really hate that!

Have a good night!

Oh dear, Betsy! What a scare with DD1 and disappointment with DH not getting that surgery done and over with. I like the sound of the colors you mentioned for the bathroom. Did DH get the teachers' gifts delivered or will he have to make a special trip for that?

I'll sit and write some notes one of these days, but probably not for a week or so. My necessary sewing is done, but I may still find something I want to sew. I will have to make a grocery run at some point, too.

The kids were really good and we enjoyed each other's company. Jennifer had made plans to take her three to her MIL's house but two of them wanted to stay with me and my grands. It was really find with me and I told her that if it wouldn't bother her MIL, they could stay. It ended up that her eldest went to her Grammie's by herself for a special one-on-one day and I kept the other two. That was the best because they had been wanting to have a day together to work on some crafts and Grammie can't handle that when she has all three of them. As for me, having the extra kids keeps my grands from bickering with their own siblings because they split up to play.

I had thought I might bake some cookies, but didn't. Most of the kids went outside to play something that involved a lot of running and yelling while Ben and I stayed inside and looked at seed catalogs. Sarah brought a pot of leftover spaghetti, 2 loaves of bread, some oranges and veggie straws to feed everyone and I had made a meatloaf the night before, so had most of that. Lots of food disappeared at lunchtime and then I opened some of the ravioli soup I'd canned to supplement for dinner. All was consumed except for one bowl of soup and I just ate that for lunch.

Steve got a call to drive truck for one day, so he's gone today. Apparently, they wanted to clean out some more material before the next rain comes (this afternoon), so they called all the trucks back to work just for a day. He got up at 4 am to be at the shop by 5 to get his dumptruck and drive it 2 hrs to where the job is. He and SIL are both working on it, but will be home tonight and not stay over at SIL's trailer, which is still parked at the campground. I was going to go grocery shopping today, but decided to wait until Steve can go with me. We'll make a day of it and take Aunt D out to lunch or something.

I am on for a little bit myself, attending to family fires ( issues ) that have popped up and need attention - in the meantime cleaning too - have company coming on Thursday night and I finally got Gene to help with cleaning some what ... we call it the fake house - a line from Everybody Loves Raymond - we both laugh then get busy.

Dianne, have a great time with the family, say hi to the girls for me, and yes that clam exercise is a hip saver !!! When done properly ! I find switching from craft table chair to desk chair is challenging them and they might ache later so I will be doing them as well.

Cathy hope you stayed warm, had fun, good treats for the kiddies, my first experience with Burger King was when I was 17 - before that I never knew it existed ! Did you find what you were looking for ?

Betsy, so sorry to hear about the eye situation, but better safe then not - glad they wont' do anything till the the eye is better. Unfortunate about the drops stinging, does it sting for long ? Glad you are able to help him with the computer things, and I can understand why you would be upset if he DID go into work - he really needs to think about his health FIRST then he can continue teaching ! Have a good day and every secretary deserves hot chocolate so be sure to have some emoticon emoticon or starbucks just incase !!!

Terri, did you have a good time with the kiddies, did you get your parcel(s) off ? I hope all is going well for you.

Anne, is the ice still around ? I hope it is gone !!

Hi! just a quick as I need to get the last of the cleaning done. Hubby is working today and then off till the 30th--he'll work from home those 2 days. I had a massage today--she is working on my hips and they feel better now. I need to get out and walk more and yes, Lindie--do the clam exercises! Got to the grocery store so that is done till the girls arrive.

Cathy--hope you stay warm. And hope you find the toys you want for your big boys!

Betsy--so sorry that he is in pain and can't get the surgery now. But--it will happen. I hope you manage to get things done that need to be--but you know I don't really include his family's expectations in that "need to be". They (or at least the SIL)seem pretty set in ways! You should be treated like adults--even if you "only" married into the family. I'll be quiet now.... I hope you enjoy the warmer weather--parents said should be 40s!

Lindie--I am going to try the clam exercises--and I really need to stretch more.

Anne--hope you are doing okay. Do you have the wind, too?

And Terri--glad you finished--hope you didn't find you had forgotten anyone!

Off to finish kitchen and then mop and vacuum everything!

Cathy, DH told me he wasn't going to work today and then sent me out to get a Big Mac for him. While I was out, he called the school's administrative assistant and asked her if he should come in! Thank goodness she asked me how he was doing and he was honest so she told him to stay home! I have lost two days pay over this ( and I'd do it again for him ) so I would have been furious had he gone in. Next week is too early to do the surgery so he goes back in on January 7 for a recheck and they will either do it then or reschedule. He is still really sore today so I am thinking it won't be for a while. My guess is he will need to be on the drops and then off of them for a bit to see if the swelling stays down before they do it but who knows? Unfortunately, the drop that replaced the super expensive one is the one that burns so that is causing pain as well, poor man. He just wanted to have this behind him before the new year. My plan for today is needing a little adjustment, I discovered writing one Santa/elf letter increased his pain so I am only allowing one at a time, it's going to be a long day. Hopefully, I can convince him to dictate and I'll do it but we'll see...
DH teaches in a K-12 school so if there's a threat, the whole building is involved. Thankfully, it hasn't been too bad yet. One year a disgruntled former student threatened to come in and shoot all of the teachers but it didn't happen. That was before all of this copycat behavior started. Yes, he has seen a decrease in attention spans in children but we blame technology and indulgent parents for that. He used to be able to play his guitar and sing for 20-30 minutes with his class and now he is lucky if they last for five! He hasn't mentioned anyone on the spectrum but I am sure that will change. He has far more students than I do and I have had at least one now, possibly two.

Have a wonderful Wednesday. I am going alphabetically so if computer time allows, I will attempt to catch up with Anne first.

Betsy

Betsy, I was wondering if he would try to go to work since he didn't get the surgery. Have they rescheduled it for over the break? Glad you were able to get the meds for a reasonable amount---isn't it just crazy? Oh, my to the threat---see, your schools are not much different from mine---your Dh is just lucky the younger children aren't as bad as some of ours. Is he seeing more hyper kids or kids he thinks might have some autism tendencies? Hope you get all your errands run and that he rests his eyes like he is supposed to.
Anne, what a mess! Hope you didn't slip and slide on the roads or into the house when you got home.
Dianne, we got a lot of rain yesterday evening and spend most of the day in fog---the fog didn't start until we were in school but it was so bad we should have been sent home early as it was a mess when we got out of school. It never did warm up like it was supposed to and the temps did not drop as soon as they said, but they have now. Glad they enjoyed your singing. Is your dh taking off Friday since they are coming in so early Friday morning?
Terri, did you get the gifts wrapped and find out you need to make one or 2 more? Hopefully you did not forget anyone. Did you enjoy the day with the kids? Did they talk Steve into putting up lights?
Lindie, yes, I took the heater in and used it ---and it made the room nice and warm and I turned it off for a while, then back on. The teacher and I were very happy with the temps but the teacher next door came in to get her laundry and said it was hot---LOL You will get used to the new spot for the computer and you and Gene can get used to sharing the space---LOL Not many people brought in treats to share so I was very glad I brought mine in to share.
I got home yesterday and Dh and I headed out to run errands---light rain turned over to pretty steady rain by the time we got done, and we stopped for dinner at our usual Tuesday night place. Ran into 2 former coworkers from Parkside as we were leaving---had a nice time visiting for a few minutes.
We go on a field trip today---wish we were staying in as the wind chills means I will have to wear my heavy coat and we are going to the mall---but there is something I saw there that I want to pick up for my boys---something fun---if they still have them. Then we are going to Pizza Hut to use their Book It coupons for free pizza---we figure they won't be used if we don't take them ourselves as several do not have transportation.
Stay warm!

Good evening friends, sure hope everyone is safe and sound and WARM !!! Cathy did you take the heater into work and did it work ok? Was the class room small enough ? Are you out in a portable ? Was there pool tonight ?

Betsy, so sorry to hear the surgery was cancelled but better safe then sorry and good that you were able to get the meds for so little ! Meds can be sooo expensive ! Sorry to hear about the lockdowns in school too, and that makes it hard for one to choose teaching as a career too ! Hope you get the vanity you want and in the color you want as well. Hope the painting goes well those colors sound nice !

Dianne, I am sure you will get all those things done in time, and if not you will have company to help or talk to while you finish off. Too bad about forgetting about the hip, can you do a note on your phone, so that when you go back you remember? I always make a list of what I want discussed, unfortunately with the clinic, they will only address one so have to make maore appointments. Also have you tried the claim exercise to see if that loosens up the tendon for the hip ? That can be done lying on your side - when mine bothers me I do the clam exercise it really helps.

Anne, too bad about the freezing rain - were you able to unlock the car ok ? What about the ice in the drive way, did you put salt down, or something else? I guess it will be some what warmer when you go away and you can leave the cold behind eh !

Terri, hope you had a fabulous time with the kids, did they pick out their displays that you had set aside for them, or were these grandsons that came over, they might want one or two as well, but then again, maybe not. Glad Steve is almost done with the stairs, then you can move on to the next projects that need attention. No worries about penship writing, I didn't expect any letters as you have been extremely busy not only with normal stuff but with the ranch as well. Hopefully now things can slow down a bit.

Gene had training today, came home took a nap and then just got up and made some peanutbutter toast - he's eating that now and watching TV and I need to get going as I know that cat will have me UP early LOL

I did look at other issues with the computer but it can wait It will stay on a hard connect for now and I will just get used to being in the livingroom.

Have a great morning everyone, cheers !

Dianne, WI students have lost their minds... well, a few have and that is all it takes, so sad. The pharmacist actually called the doctor and was able to change the prescription. He had not even heard of the costly one because it was so new.
We have hired a retired teacher to paint the bathroom on Monday so I need to choose the color tomorrow. If I can get the slate gray vanity I want, I am thinking of a mint green with white baseboards.

I will try to catch up with at least one person tomorrow. DH will be allowed some computer time to write 8 Santa letters and we’ll balance that with rest and my errands.

Oh, my--I miss a bit and SO MUCH happens! We had rain all day today here--no ice but DD2 had enough ice to have no school. Hubby had ice up at work but he managed okay. I got Bob's gifts wrapped--I will take and he can open them on the 25th. I did sing yesterday--and people appreciated it. He hasn't come back with me--he is supposed to eat at 4:30 and it would interfere with that. His daughter will start driving up on the 25th and plans to arrive by lunch time on the 26th.

Terri--congrats on being DONE! That is great news! And the steps are almost done--that is also great! Hope you enjoyed the kids today. My DD1 and her DH leave Thursday and arrive at 12:38 AM Friday AM. So it will be a late night!

Cathy--it is hard to be cold all day! I watched an old "Call the Midwife" special about the winter of 62-63 when it was so cold in London--seeing them all dressed in coats and hats INSIDE made me feel cold! I hope your party went well today.

Ann--DD2 was iced but we just had the rain. Snow showers are possible for tomorrow. I hope you are getting things ready for you to leave--and I hope the weather cooperates for your flights.

Lindie--glad you got things to work--even if more needs to be done later. We usually have a bag of shredded paper--that would be a good fire starter!

Betsy--oh, my to no surgery yet. What a great pharmacist to find the coupons, etc to get the medicines for $20! That is wonderful! I hope he doesn't need to refill the prescriptions cause it is unlikely to get the same deals again. So--when will it be now? How is the bathroom doing? And what is going on in WI with the bomb threats and before that the 2 schools with guns? Scary times--glad DD1 had the afternoon off!

I got to the gym and to my physical--which was due in August. I tried a new doctor--or nurse practitioner. My EKG was fine, bone density was fine. Had an ultrasound of my thyroid and blood work but won't get that for a few days. And they may have sent it to the wrong lab...arg. Last time, they had to pay for it. Forgot to talk about my hip pain--oh, well! I finished wrapping the gifts--that is DONE. Still need to do some work on cards and finish cleaning the first floor--vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting (maybe) and bathroom. Also counters and tables....but I will get it done--even if I stay home and work while hubby gets the kids! LOL Tomorrow is the last practice before the pageant--both services on Sunday. It will be a very busy AM. Oh, well.

Have a good evening!! Get some good solid sleep!!

Betsy, it must have been scary for your DD1! Will they have school tomorrow? Did they find anything?

On my phone as well. I neglected to say the school was evacuated so DD1 got the afternoon off. Also, my plan was to catch up here as DH slept after surgery. Instead I have been watching TV with him to keep him off the computer. We just put on a favorite of his, the very old Holiday Inn.
