I was sitting here remembering my lament about not having a bike because someone stoled it - that was two years ago now. I have replaced it and I do enjoy getting out exploring. I really need to do more riding - that is the goal for this year.
Anyways here are is a summary of my ride earlier this week

I peddle up this steep - real steep hill and at the top is the hospital - how convient I thought to my self as my heart pounded in my chest.

One of my highlights was seeing this

I can't wait till the rains stop so I can go out once more..45 days or so before I'm back at camp in the kitchen unable to go for walks and ride so easy

So after church and lunch we went out the door for an afternoon walk. Another new area for us. There is always an under currant of fear.. Getting lost, meeting a bear or a cougar - these thoughts must be put down or else we would never get out side.. If we give in to these fears where would it stop ? -- fear of driving along the highway ( car accidents) fear of terrorist, fear of gang doings and thuds, all the possibilities are ceaseless.. We now live in perilous times if we listen to the news on the TV.. But then again staying home is not safe either with so many earthquakes and fires happening... Fear is no way to live.. For me I will trust in the Lord Jesus and accept all that comes my way and get outthere and Live.

This will help remove cabin fever

Look what came in my mailbox this day. My lady friend from Ontario sent me a book "Life on Earth by David Attenborough". What I find interesting is that just last night I watched a documentary about said author.. Showing the history of film and wildlife photography from the beginning till now. But look at the envelope.. So many stamps. She had asked the post office to put as many on as possible..
Also I recieved a postcard from her that she bought 40 years ago and was tucked away In a old cookbook from Banff Alberta.
Then I have a postcard from Amsterdam from Mike?

Now my mailbox will have to wait till next Thursday before I can check it again. I think I will be pleasantly pleased when I get home and open it.

I should had gone for the car ride to Vancouver or Whistler! If saving money was the goal.
We went for our bike ride but that did not prevent a stop to do some shopping... Our tires were a little low so I stopped at them community center that has a little bike repair corner to pump up our deflated tires. The pump was broken - more air went out of the tire than what went in. Still enough to ride further to where we bought them last year... So off we ride tomthen bike shop.
As quick as you can say one two three I have purchased Noni a nice new pink basket, an odometer and a new U lock. Leaving the store 30 minutes later I was two hundred dollars less.
Ouch...
From there we can continued to ride around the village - over and around to the beach area and then eventually back home. From the reading of the new odometer IT said 13.5 km.
I estimate between three and four Km to the bike shop from our place. So this would be about 18 k in total. 10 miles.roughly.

I have been out for a walk this morning with a couple of friends, now I have to decide what to do this afternoon. It is sunny and warm. I see effects of wind blowing the tree branches and long grass growing in my flower pots - so I am debating whether or not I should go for a bike ride. Noni wants to get out of the house.. I could drive to Whistler or Vancouver but this will cost gas money and most likely money spent shopping as well. I want to save some money so I don't particuly want to do either of those last two options. Noni is pasting around the house so I know she is very bored.
So I thnk it will be a bike ride.. After all it is sunny and warm - the rains will be coming back too soon..

The sun is shining and it is very warm out. I went for a morning walk with Dalhouse and a friend from church then I came home and suggested to my wife's that we drive to West Vancouver.
My friend told me about Ambleside Park that has a pond with lots of birds. Blue Herons, Swans, Ducks, Teals, Spottd Towhees, House Sparrows and Gulls. He was correct. I brought a container of bird seed and Noni was so happy to feed the hungry flock. Then we went walking and walking and walking along the Seawall.
We had made a quick stop at the mall where I bought a new pair of shoes, lunch and some groceries.
I thnk this will help in breaking the February Blues - cabin fever..

I feel for you in the holy smokes it's damn cold weather!!! I hope you find a way to beat the cabin fever.
I've heard people can either subscribe to services that have various rides and you follow them on your tv or computer monitor so it's not quite so dry using your trainer but I haven't tried them yet.
Or, you could always move to a place like Phoenix, Arizona where it seldom gets below freezing and it's tshirt and shorts riding weather right now. Just have to learn how to get along in the 120 degree weather that we have more than half of the year.

Good luck!
