This recipe and nutritional information was provided by chef Sandy Dominguez, pro triathlete Jenny Fletcher and registered dietitian and tri coach Marni Sumbal for Active. I tried the recipe and really like it. Let me know what you think.
Three items are used in this trail mix snack: Goji berries, Cacao nibs, and raw almonds. Pick these items up at the store, dump them in a bowl and mix them up. You will have a batch that will last for the week. This mix is low fat and offers great nutritional value.

Goji berries are red-orange and come from China where they are eaten to increase longevity. These berries are filled with antioxidants and may reduce the risk of cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure and possibly Alzheimer's. The berry also contains Vit. A, a plus for eye health.

Cacao nibs refers to a portion of the product that is made from cocoa bean. Essentially these nibs are cocoa beans broken down into smaller pieces. Nibs contain theobromine, which stimulates the central nervous system. It is a great source of flavanols and it is in the chocolate family so you can fulfill your chocolate cravings.

Raw almonds are one of the most nutrient-rich nuts on earth. Almonds are a great source of Vit. E, calcium, fiber, protein, riboflavin and niacin. Almonds eaten regularly help reduce cholesterol, heart disease and blood pressure as well as Alzheimer's. Almonds have been shown to help prevent colon cancer, diabetes, constipation and birth defects. They can also help increase brain productivity, and boost energy.
