Yes! Thanks so much for your help! I am now just 1 pound away from my Spark goal of 15 pounds...and I have until the 23rd to meet it so I'm actually going to make it! That's the first time ever that I've met a goal on time! I still have a long way to go but I'm breaking it down into little goals. Best of luck to you on your own journey!

Just to update, I DID ask Cynthia on Facebook and she did answer. I got tons of help from other members too. I stuck with it, though I did have to reduce my grain servings to only about 2 a day. After 30 days I lost 10.5 pounds and more than 3 inches from my waist! Since then I've lost a pound more. I have a long way to go, but I finally feel like I'm actually going to make it. I am only 2 pounds from my first mini-goal here on Spark!

Thanks! I'll try it! Actually the Cinch Core plan isn't much different that Atkins maintenance as long as you stay away from the Atkins bars and stuff they are always pushing. The carb count is higher on Cinch, and of course you don't eat much meat, but Atkins is a whole foods diet IF you follow the original books by Dr. Atkins and don't fall into eating too much processed foods. Nowadays they push their products so much, it's a little disappointing. I am afraid I might be having trouble with the oatmeal. I hope not because I do really like oats! I will go to her web site and add the facebook like button from there. Thanks again!

Hi, I found Cynthia on Facebook when I was on her website--www.cynthiasass.com. The page I am on just says Cynthia Sass - underneath her name - it says: Public Figure. On the left of the facebook page is a picture of the Book Cinch! Just click" like" then. Is that the page you were on? She is so good to answer everyone's questions of all kinds. You did very well with the Fast Forward. Once in awhile some one will say they gained some back that first week. I think your body has to adjust to so many things - and if you just keep going - the scale will move. One of the things I read most - the scale may not move as fast as one likes - but you begin to notice other things about the changes in how your clothes fit - how your skin looks - so you know good things are happening.

Hope you can pinpoint the possible grain allergy - she does favor oatmeal ( dry in yogurt or cooked), barley, corn, quinoa etc. - pita or corn tortilla's. Good luck with health concerns - sounds like you are keeping on top of things and looking for answers. I am wondering if eating the full amounts of the plant based fats might help you in some ways - or were you eating alot of those things on Adkins?

Don't hestitate to ask Cynthia a question - she will either direct you to your doctor and give you answers as you can!! People are just so helpful and supportive on her page.

Good luck with everything!!

Jo

Oh, I forgot to say, I did order my own copy of the book and have almost finished reading it. I am in the back in the "this and that" question section. I haven't had too much trouble keeping my calories up using her recipes since I can't eat low fat or fat free, so all my yogurt, milk, etc, has extra calories. If I could just get my pesky fat-soluable vitamins a little easier I would be good! I am trying a new supplement called chlorella, a special algae from the ocean that is supposed to be extremely high in healthy fatty acids, so we'll see if it helps!

Thanks so much for your reply! I am still following the plan but still haven't lost any weight on the Core part. I have been on the Core plan for less than a week, however. I am maintaining my 4 pound loss from the 5 day plan. I also am noticing some weight loss signs that aren't very measurable, for instance, my new shoes are loose and I think my face, shoulders, and stomach look thinner. I think I have lost almost an inch from my stomach but have to go back and check my old measurements to see.

I did go to the doctor for my annual checkup and just heard earlier today that unfortunately my vitamin D is low again, which causes me a lot of trouble with weight gain and fatigue. I have also noticed being itchy all over and having a rash on some days when my carb count was high due to adding the whole grains. I had been on Atkins for nearly a year avoiding carbs, so I suspect this is an allergy or irritant in a grain product but have not yet determined what exactly. I am trying to pinpoint that.

I did look at Cynthia's Facebook page but it said you should add her as a friend if you know her only (like it does for everyone). Does she have a special page like a fan page or does she just let anyone friend her using her regular page?

Thank for your advice! It's nice to talk to someone else on the diet!

Hi, Are you still following Cinch!? Have you read the whole book? There is so much information in the book - By chance, are you on Facebook? Cynthia Sass has a Cinch! page - she is on every day to help and answer everyone's questions - the support is just tremendous. It does work and I hope you can make it work for you - She tells you in the book what to add if you need more calories etc. People all ages have been losing - it is great your children like the meals - I love the 5 piece puzzle. How are you doing now?

Hey y'all! I joined this team because I started the Cinch diet 2 weeks ago. On Tuesdays I drop one kid off at school at 9 and take another to the same school at 10. Since the drive to school is about 15 minutes I usually take my son to play in the park while we wait. However, 2 weeks ago it was raining so I went to my mom's house to wait.

Sitting on her counter I found a copy of the Cinch diet book. I read through the 5 day program quickly and thought to myself it would be good to try. For the past year I have struggled to lose any weight at all. I would stay on my diet (usually Atkins) well during the day but then at night I would blow it eating snacks and drinking wine. I liked the Cinch plan's 10 PM snack because that is when I overeat. So I wrote down the basics of the 5 day plan. I decided to do it for 10 days during breakfast and lunch so I could eat a normal dinner with my family and not have to cook a separate meal. Then I ate the 10 pm snack. The only change I made was I use whole milk yogurt which I eat myself but a 3rd to half cup to cut the calories down. I gave myself a vitamin deficiency eating fat free for years that messed my hormones all up so I don't do low fat or fat free anymore.

The 5 day plan (done my way for 10 days) was AWESOME! I lost 4 pounds. I totally gave up wine and snacking at night. After the big 10 pm snack I didn't want wine or junk food at all. My husband can sit right next to me eating chips or saltines with cream cheese and I can not only resist but feel NO temptation! The only problem I have had is cutting the coffee all the way down. I am still at about 4 cups a day.

However, once I started the Core plan and added grains I began to gain and/or not lose. I added whole corn tortillas, ezekiel english muffins (eating only half), dry whole oatmeal, and whole grain sesame crackers. My mom and dad are also gaining on the core plan even with the fat free dairy. I forgot to mention I put the whole family on the core pan so I can eat dinner. We have had the spicy avocado tostadas and the mozzarella pizzalad so far. My kids LOVE the recipes. My 12 year old son said "Finally, you're on a diet with good food!" and repeatedly asked if I was sure it was diet food. All my kids ate seconds.

I use a fitbit device to tell me how many calories to eat each day based on my level of activity. I usually move enough to get around 1900-2000 calories and stay in my "zone". I have done so. The first day of Core I went over, so the second day I cut down the portions to fit. But I still didn't lose.

Has anyone else had this problem? What did you do to keep losing on the Core plan? I am so happy with the food timing on this plan, I hate to give up on it. I feel it is really healthy but I want to lose weight too. I have about 45 pounds still to lose. Thanks for any advice!
